Sep 2016 - $32.00
We just stopped here overnight on our way east and I am glad that we only stayed overnight because I wouldn't want to be here for two nights. Very little improvements have been done in this park, just a grass area with hookups and poor gravel roads. Even the office is in poor shape. Grass has grown up about a foot high around a lot of the campers which means that they are there long term, mostly people that work in the area. I definitely wouldn't want to stay here again. - Linda Allan
Jul 2016 - $35.00
This is not a campground. This is a transient facility for tradesmen, i.e. pipeline workers, carnies, etc.
Some people live here year round, by the looks of the sites and campers.
No restrictions on how old your rig is.. bring in your beast.
Rates to me are too high. take it or leave it attitude.
$700 a month for 50 amp with Water and sewer.
Gossipy workers/owners. People come in all hours of the night.
You will get a tongue lashing if you go over the speed limit of 10 MPH.
No campfires. No ice. Very cramped conditions. Many run down sites.
I-80 Road noise 24/7. No buffer for noise control.
I needed this facility as a place to stay while on contractual work in the area.
Otherwise, I would avoid. - josephine Plumber
Apr 2016 - $42.00
This park has very unlevel, very close, sunny/open grass only sites. Very rude people as well as workers living there. Not worth the time or money to put up with drunks throwing things. Very scared! It was better to leave. - Sheilagramm

Sep 2018 - $38.00
Easy in, easy out. Big rig capable. No sewer but perfect for a one-night stop. They give you a small discount on food in the casino restaurants (how else will they get non-gamblers in there otherwise?). Our dinner at 99 Hops was excellent and so was our server. Buffet breakfast was lukewarm but was included in the campsite rate. - monamonaco
Aug 2018 - $47.00
Easy place to get into with big rig, if you can't get a pull through any outer loop site that has 50 amp looked like it could take a 45 foot coach. The outside loop sites the concrete was short but since it was dry no problem back off the edge and lots of rv's doing it. You are in a busy area but with all the trees surrounding this place it almost felt like the country, I was surprised. Most of the sites good for sat but of course the one we had blocked 129 but no problem missing the HD. Oh if you are into water parks at the back is a trail that takes you to Splash Station. We stayed a couple of days for business in area it was convenient and enjoyable. Plenty open area for the dog. All the outside loop had trees at back of space so the campers with smaller rigs felt at home. We'll go back some day. - what next
Jul 2018 - $47.00
This is a very neat, clean, quiet RV park behind a hotel next door to the casino. There are a few pull-thru sites down the middle and back-ins all around the edge. There are very few trees. Satellite TV is easy! There is no cable and no sewers but there is a convenient dump station. Sites are just long enough for a 38' motorhome to fit on the concrete drive but there is enough gravel in the front of the site to park your car. There is a concrete patio and a picnic table. You get a $5 discount at any of the 3 casino restaurants, and free breakfast in the hotel lobby. We would stay here agin. We HAVE stayed here again! - SusanRon

Jul 2010 - $90.00
This is the 3rd year that we have camped on site of the Chicagoland Speedway for the summer race weekend in July. It is a bit expensive at $365 for the 3 days, but what isn't when staying near a Nascar event? I've seen hotels charge $200 or more per night as well, so in my opinion it's worth it to be on site and not have to drive back and forth. Check in began this year at 9am on Thursday: was VERY hectic and about an hour wait in line to get down to the campground. They need to work on better moving people to where they need to be, instead of mixing infield, speedway ridge and lakeside into 3 lines and then directing where to go. I think they need to open 3 different gates to make it easier and faster getting to your site and setting up. You must have the decals sent from the track affixed to the front windshield of the tow vehicle and the other on a window of your trailer. Once arriving at the campground entrance gate, we were greeted again and given two welcome packets filled with advertisements and information and nice little gift. We had no problems finding our spot as they are all are clearly marked. We had plenty of room with our 40 foot trailer on one spot and our friends 24 foot on the other. They do offer a potable water service that costs $40 per service and you must purchase tickets in advance for the service. The ticket tent is easily located at the front of the campground. The waste management trucks travel throughout the campground throughout the day for those wishing to use their service. The portable toilets were way cleaner this year than past years. However there could be more throughout the campground. They did not have enough toilets in my opinion. The shower truck was very nice and clean. The only problem with the shower truck is that it is open from 6:00 am until noon and then again from 6:00 pm until midnight. A big line started to form from 7:30 am and you could end up having to stand in line waiting for a shower for 30+ minutes. They have great water pressure and are hot instantly. They are not timed so you can shower as long as you wish thus the problem of the long line! Overall the campground is very clean and well kept. Grass could have been cut shorter. Bring your ant killer. We had little tiny ants all over our site. Noise was minimal but to be expected being at the races. They have a camp store on grounds for ice etc, but be prepared to spend $5 per small bag of ice and $4 for bottle of water and $7 for a plastic bottle of beer. They also provide a tram service to get you to the front gate. The tram service still needs work, they haven't gotten it to move a smoothly as it should be and the wait for a tram gets to be lengthy. I do recommend staying at this campground. We will more then likely coming back again next year. - campingfamof5
Jul 2009 - $75.00
Unlike most NASCAR adjacent camping: Chicagoland does not allow pets. It's only open 4 days prior to the race and is very expensive. Not worthwhile. - exsailor81
Jul 2009 - $90.00
This is the second year that we have camped on site of the Chicagoland Speedway for the summer race weekend in July. Check in begins on Wednesday at noon before the race weekend. We arrived at 7:00 pm on the first day of check in and had no problem getting checked in. The process was very speedy. You must have the decals sent from the track affixed to the front windshield of the tow vehicle and the other on a window of your trailer. Once arriving at the campground entrance gate we were greeted again and given two welcome packets filled with advertisements and information and nice little gift. Nov 2018 - $35.00
We had a level, gravel, pull through, FHU site that was satellite friendly. The Wi-Fi was fine for our minimal (e-mail and web surfing) needs. The bathrooms were clean and the laundry facility was large, clean, and reasonable. I saw no recycling. - Jerry S
Jun 2018 - $36.00
This is easy to get to/from I-55. Interior roads are all dusty or muddy gravel. If you are north of the lake you get constant highway noise from I-80 but south of the lake, where we were, the highway noise is much less. Our site had a level concrete pad to park on with utilities well placed. Sites are a decent size with lots of grass. Utilities worked well. Wifi was variable. Verizon signal was good. The attractions for families are a choice of swimming in the nice pool or a very large wading pond. An air conditioned clubhouse with a TV and games. A lot of things have been updated since our last stay two years ago so things are looking very nice. - cwier
Jun 2018 - $35.00
As noted, this is a membership park. We stayed here for five nights and found getting a reservation easy using email during their off season. Staff was friendly at reception and whenever encountered in park. Roads are gravel and can be dusty when dry and a bit muddy when wet. My own observation is a number of contractors, workers, etc are using the park as their home base (with families) and as our site was off main road, a lot of constant traffic flowed past. We had a small back in site going back to back with another RV and one on each side of us (they were optimizing their space). Other areas appeared to have more space between RVs then ours. Appears much to do for families with a man made beach, swimming pool, fishing lake, etc. No dog park however plenty of room to walk around and a 10' leash policy. Wi fi works well but better late evening. There is a $10 (refundable) fee for a gate pass. Plenty of restaurants, box and local shops in immediate area (off US 59). Main item for me with park is location is between two major interstates - I-55 and I-80 which has heavy truck traffic...noise level very high. This is a good location to make your way for trains, etc if coming to visit Chicago area. We would come back again but try to get a different site from a noise and space perspective. - ownedafew

Jun 2018 - $60.00
Nightly rate reflects weekend, non-Cook County resident fee. Very nice park with adequate campsites. Nice views of lake. Shower/restrooms were clean and usable. Only problem was the well water at the campground. Since there are no water connections at the sites, you had to fill the camper water tank. They claim the water is not drinkable, so we brought good water in containers. What we discovered is the well water contains iron, which makes it look rust colored. They were working on a water purification system while we were there. Overall, we enjoyed that campground as a base for exploring Chicago. There were transit stations nearby to get into the city. - AlreadyGone
May 2018 - $45.00
Had a nice site overlooking the lake. The MAIN reason we stayed here was its proximity to Chicago. 1/2 hour to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Great to be able to set up shop that close to the city. - ianschneiderman
May 2018 - $60.00
Lakeside tent and RV sites in forest near Chicago. Beautiful, quiet setting. Narrow paved roads and, narrow, level gravel sites, but back-in access was acceptable (most sites have gravel turning apron). Park is new, with lots of grass and young trees. Lots of dog walking area around lake. There are fire rings and picnic tables at each site. Restrooms are clean, but showers are not (women's side had dirt under bench and mulitple day hair buildup on the floor. Also, well water has caused brown rust stains on everything, so it looks unappealing, and water has a very unpleasant mineral odor and taste. A sign claims they are intending to install a filtration system. RV sites have 50/30/20 electric, but no water. There is one spigot at the office, but it is connected to a garden hose and I would not put that water in my tank anyway, so bring your tank full from outside. There are variable length sites, so choose carefully. There is room at front of RV sites to diagonally park a vehicle. No at-site sewer, but there is a dump station. Very over priced based on lack of at-site sewer and water issues. This place would be an 8 if it had at-site, decent water. We would not stay again unless they improve the water quality. - LoneWolf

Jul 2018 - $33.00
I started camping here last August after I had bought my rv. This was my very first time camping pretty close to home. At first, I though this place looks pretty bad however, I went up the hill and around by the river where full hook ups were. It was unbelievably NICE!! Very quiet and hardly no campers. I drove around and yes, around the office there are A LOT of run down and abandoned campers. I couldn't believe how HUGE this place was. For a "Tent Camper" this is the place!! Yes, some security officers were "sorta" scary, but once you get to know them, they are ok people. The guy in the office is very nice and helpful. Its not the owner's fault people leave their garbage everywhere!!! They should clean up after themselves. I have never had any problems camping here. Its been quiet and very peaceful!!! Yes, a little clean up would do wonders!! Again, Thats on the "Seasonal's and Yearlys". Again, its a campground!! I have never seen any criminal activity and I have been at this campground every weekend so far this year and every weekend from the time I bought my rv in July last year. Nothing, to show me, I wouldnt camp here. There is no check out time and again, it was quiet every time. Even, Memorial weekend this year, it was quiet!!! $35 a night for full hookups is very reasonable. I had an electrical problem, called the office and they were there within 20 min to fix the issue. Matter of fact they replaced the entire breaker. This campground is very peaceful and the people are friendly (the Seasonals and yearlys). I would recommend this place to family and friends all day and night. - donna and dan
Jun 2017 - $25.00
The park was a lot cleaner as the week progressed. The park has a very bad reputation which I believe is not warranted. There are a lot of very very old rv's here and some of them need to be demolished. The roads are full of pot holes which make you slow down. I don't think it would be any worse with speed bumps. The primitive areas are scenic except there were few bathrooms and no showers. The section we were in, A2, was very nice, flat long and the utilities worked great. Security is excellent. They man the gate all night. The full time residents are near the front and everyone else is in the back. Everyone we came in contact with was nice and helpful. The camp store was well stocked with parts and some food. The store was not overpriced. - sflabrkr
Jul 2015 - $35.00
We pulled into this campground if you can call it that, and paid for a two night stay. While my husband was inside paying I just got a bad feeling about this place. It felt like a place you would see in a horror movie. The road into it was narrow and full of holes, a man in a raggedy golf cart led us to an area and told us to "pick a site". We got out if the RV and looked for a site with sewer hook ups. Could not find one with water electric and sewer. The sites were just grassy and muddy. Nothing about this place said "camp here, feel safe". We began to wonder if we were in a junkyard or campground. We decided that neither of us had a good feeling, so we drove back to the office aka shack and got our money back. My husband said it was no problem and they probably had it happen before. My cousin said the place was known for drug raids and murders!!! Stay away from this place unless you like living or staying in an area where your life is in danger. Hideaway should be condemned and buried!!! - CaptainKarl

This is mostly a residential park with some residual camping sites and tent sites. There are many lakes in the area, which used to be coal mining pits and strip mines. The campground has a swimming pond and fishing ponds, although recent rains flooded the ponds. The water has a heavy concentration of hydrogen sulfide, probably from previous mining activities, so bring a water filter. Most residents buy their drinking water locally. This is a quiet, gated community and the residents are generally friendly. The park has many local activities. - Dick and Linda

This is not a campground. This is a transient workplace for people like carnival workers, pipeline workers, welders, carpenters, and workers who are seasonal. The camp host seems nice. Place is very run down. From throwing my trash out before leaving, I saw that they do like their beer. Had I known, I would have stayed elsewhere. - pvcox
Apr 2009 - $19.00
Older park in the middle of nowhere. Under new management. They started to put in a new bathhouse in a park model. All pull through sites. They were also in the process of putting gravel on the sites to get them out of the mud. The land is pretty low and it floods with every rainstorm. - Glen_mich
Jul 2008 - $32.00
Under new management so this review is based on current conditions. Park is clean, good interior roads. Sites are long with sufficient room for big rigs and slides. Few trees so satellite OK. Low water pressure - very dirty water requires filtration!! Rest rooms and laundry very dirty, dated, need replacement - no cooling evident. would only use this park for an overnight, about three miles west of I57, some road noise from busy road adjacent to park. Owners very accommodating and will probably clean this park up given enough time to make required updates. - endlesstravels

Sep 2014 - $20.00
Maybe I just happened to pick a bad weekend, but this first visit to this campground was completely miserable. Perhaps had I come to tent camp and never expected to leave the campground the whole weekend, I'd have a different opinion. First the good points-- nice graveled campsites (and all have electric), plenty of shade and privacy between the sites in this heavily wooded campground, fairly clean bathhouse, and a nice lake nearby. If you happen to be a resident of DuPage county, the $20/night rate is not bad either. Sadly, the good points end there. The campground is located at the very back of the park and requires driving over 6 large speed bumps to come and go. The campground roads are narrow gravel with tight turns and hills. Most sites are only suitable for tents, pop-ups, vans, or RVs less than 25'. The only available water is from non-threaded spigot pumps. The dump station is small and tilted the wrong way to empty most RV tanks. The campground is only open 2 or 3-night weekends from May through Sept. But perhaps the biggest negative-- both the campground and forest preserve gates are closed and locked just after sunset every night. If you want to enjoy a nice dinner beyond the park boundaries, or visit friends in the area, forget about it! One final negative-- when I visited, the park was literally overwhelmed with mosquitoes. So bad I had to wear a bug jacket to cover my head and upper body! In the future, I'll stay at the Kane Co. Forest Preserve campgrounds-- much MUCH nicer parks that have been built with RVers in mind. - WinnieViews
May 2014 - $20.00
This park is a bit hard to locate. It is actually located in Warrenville. Any RV campground in the Chicago is a rarity so even with some drawbacks we were glad to find this one. It is a large, beautiful and heavily-wooded oasis in a pretty congested area. Staff very friendly. Restrooms were immaculate even with heavy usage on a holiday weekend. The drawbacks are: (1) it is only open for Fri. and Sat. night camping except on holidays, (2) no and or sewer connections and the few water spigots will not allow for a hose to be connected so to fill your tank requires carrying water in containers to your RV. Sites are level and very spacious with site #64 being best located for the restrooms with showers. One unusual plus is that those over 65 get 1 free weekend per year. We would camp here again. - judb
Jun 2013 - $20.00
We've been visiting Blackwell for almost 40 years, but this is the first time we've camped there. We only live about 7 miles from there so it's an easy weekend. This is an oasis in the middle of suburbia. Heavily wooded sites, with level crushed gravel pads and now, electric at all sites, according to the attendant at the gatehouse. There are no water or sewer hookups, but there are spigots throughout the park. There is an adequate dump station, although it is not all that level, so your tanks may not fully empty. I remarked to my wife that whether we traveled three hours to Wisconsin or drove 7 miles to Blackwell, the end result is the same. Quiet camping in a lovely area. The one downside to this campground is that it's only open on weekends, except for holiday weeks when it's open for the entire week. Also making reservations entails calling the District HQ and booking over the phone. There is a three day reservation window which pretty much eliminates spur of the moment camping. The camping permits arrive by snail mail, so very last century. Still, it adds to the charm I suppose. We'll be back often. In the summer the crowds in Wisconsin can be frustrating, so this is a nice alternative if you just want a quiet weekend to camp without dealing with all the traffic. - baraff

May 2018 - $76.00
We've stayed here in the past for Halloween camping and this was our first trip here in the warmer months. We visited during Memorial Day weekend so you know it'll be crowded. It was also HOT. Our site was much wider and longer that most Jellystone parks so that was nice and this CG has a ton of trees and we were very happy for the shade since it was so hot out. Our friends had some issues with the electric pedestal and the staff was happy and quick to help. Of course, being a Jellystone, they had tons of activities all day long which was great. The pools were PACKED and our kids swam but I didn't want to stand in an over-crowded pool. There's a little creek that runs along the front of the property which we played in and was quite refreshing. We liked that this property does not allow golf carts all over the place so that made it a little more peaceful. - EllenT
Aug 2017 - $60.00
Took the grandsons here for a long weekend. They had an absolute blast with all the activities. Everyone came home tuckered out. Staff were universally helpful and friendly. That being said, the facility seemed a bit tired. Electrical was 30- and 20-amp only. The 30-amp outlet was pretty worn and the breakers seemed "loose". Voltage never went below 113 so that was not an issue. Good water pressure (45 PSI) but water is definitely hard. Fire rings were dug into the ground. Ours was fine but neighbor's was full of water the whole time we were there. Common facilities (bathrooms, pools, ranger station, activity center) were all in good repair. Prices at the ranger station were not out of line with what you would expect at a Yogi Bear campground. There was a fairly high percentage of seasonal sites, but did not experience any of the animosity that sometimes occurs between seasonal and transient campers. Sites were a reasonable size. Lots of trees, but was still able to position motorhome so that we could get satellite reception. We will be bringing the grandkids back here again. We did not bring a towed vehicle, opting for bicycles instead. - STBRetired
Jul 2016 - $57.00
The sewer line was not capped. Instead there was a plastic bag and a piece of wood being used as a plug for our site. The backflow valve was missing. Garbage and recycling was to be picked up between the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00PM, instead after 8:30 PM. This sat outside all day on our site for kids to kick and play with. My wife and granddaughter were playing miniature golf and the place was a disaster. Loose boards with exposed nails and screws were present with loose electric wire which was laying about and Christmas decoration laying on the ground with hooks and wire fasteners laying about. These were trip points and hazards that a child could easily be hurt by. The general maintenance was lacking and seem to be operated by teenagers and very young adults with no managers present. They were very helpful but some were not very knowledgeable in the operations of the campground. - Jim W1
