Overall Rating:

This park has a beautiful caricature about it, with its big Oak and Hickory trees and how they go together about 30 or 40 feet in the air. This park has the grounds mowed every week. There is a set of swings and playground equipment in the adjoining picnic area and the hiking trails are mowed as well so you don't have to climb through waist high grass. Restrooms are clean and tho there are only 2 showers the showers have plenty of water and pressure so you don't have to hit the button every 15 seconds. The host is well versed in the surrounding area knowledge. They have no fishing or boating but they have tons of peace & quiet unless its harvest time in which you might hear a combine in the distance. Perfect place to relax. The interstate (I72) is over 2 and a half miles away. 36 campsites w/ 8 no power and 27 w/30 amp only. All sites are back in. Nearest convenient store is in Argenta at Caseys for ice and pop and gas. We camped at Friends Creek in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Monticello is east about 14 miles away with a population of 5,500 and there is a railway museum for entertainmant. There is a hardware store and grocery store and fast food as well in town. They even have sit down eating restaurants and some are pretty good. West of Friends Creek is a much larger city of Decatur (72,700). There is about anything you might need in the city but there is the hustle and bustle of the big city. The nearest point is 10 miles away and its spread out all over the place.

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great little sleepy campground. Perfect if you have to work in Decatur or surrounding area while camping as its very close. There isn't much to do at this campground other than just enjoy having nothing to do but that's OK sometimes. The one thing I didn't like is the caretakers dig out the fire rings and that leaves a hole to collect water and starting a fire in a puddle of water is a bit difficult. Someone should really tell them to stop that, yes it looks nice but is very impractical for using it for what it was designed for. Other than that great park. We camped at Friends Creek in a Travel Trailer.
