Nice place to be while waiting for new truck brakes. Very friendly. A local couple camping there "took us in". Nice grounds, excellent paved biking/walking trail along the river. Very wooded. Only negative: on a busy truck route. If you want full restroom facilities, camp in season at Pottawatamie. It was already closed for the season when we were there. We were at Chippewa which is further from Bourbonnias and closer to the busy road. The river drive on the west side is scenic and worth the time. Take the Warner Bridge Rd. to get across. - snsfry

Two campgrounds here. If you are in a bigger rig I would suggest the Chippewa campground. It is more open and easier to get in and out of. The Potawatomie campground is where we stayed and the loops are very tight. Heavily wooded on this side though some nice sites and very private. This park also has a great 10 mile paved bike trail. We would return here but stay in the Chippewa campground next time. - janieD

There is water located through out the campgrounds and there is plenty of good sites to choose from. Good place for base camp to explore the area around Kankakee. - Fordiesel250

Park was full and it was very apparent that their electrical grid was not able to keep up with the demand. Our site and 5 other folks that I talked with were having low power issues along with the main breaker in their tripping on occasion. We left a day early asI wasn't confertable with running my MH on questionable power. When I unplugged the power cord from the pedestal, it was so hot that the prongs put a blister on my hand when I grabbed it . Won't be back. - jc2

This is a nice little park, out in the country, with lots of trees. We've stayed here before (only park near relatives in Kankakee). The pool is clean, the trees are shady and the folks at the front desk could not be nicer. They've recently expanded and have a large area in the back with pull thru sites and 50 amps. The water lines are heated, back there, and can accommodate winter visitors (a lot of wind farm workers and seasonal trades people stay here). It's about 20 minutes into Kankakee. - Tessa & Toadee on the Road
May 2019 - $36.00
Lots of trees and interior roads narrow and winding but ok for a big rig. Site was gravel and sloping but able to level OK. Lots of rain so mud everywhere. Had to ask for another site as first site would be impossible to get out with toad attached because of big tree and neighbor cars. Poor TV, park internet too slow to use. ATT and VZW hotspots usable but rather weak. - jOHNONTHEROAD
Jul 2015 - $30.00
This is mostly a residential park with some residual camping sites and tent sites. There are many lakes in the area, which used to be coal mining pits and strip mines. The campground has a swimming pond and fishing ponds, although recent rains flooded the ponds. The water has a heavy concentration of hydrogen sulfide, probably from previous mining activities, so bring a water filter. Most residents buy their drinking water locally. This is a quiet, gated community and the residents are generally friendly. The park has many local activities. - Dick and Linda

This is not a campground. This is a transient workplace for people like carnival workers, pipeline workers, welders, carpenters, and workers who are seasonal. The camp host seems nice. Place is very run down. From throwing my trash out before leaving, I saw that they do like their beer. Had I known, I would have stayed elsewhere. - pvcox
Apr 2009 - $19.00
Older park in the middle of nowhere. Under new management. They started to put in a new bathhouse in a park model. All pull through sites. They were also in the process of putting gravel on the sites to get them out of the mud. The land is pretty low and it floods with every rainstorm. - Glen_mich

Under new management so this review is based on current conditions. Park is clean, good interior roads. Sites are long with sufficient room for big rigs and slides. Few trees so satellite OK. Low water pressure - very dirty water requires filtration!! Rest rooms and laundry very dirty, dated, need replacement - no cooling evident. would only use this park for an overnight, about three miles west of I57, some road noise from busy road adjacent to park. Owners very accommodating and will probably clean this park up given enough time to make required updates. - endlesstravels
