Mar 2018 - $25.00
Scenic campground around lakes run by a super nice couple. Park started in 1969 and is stuck in a time warp. Not big rig friendly...plus bring extra water and slinky to reach shared water spigots. Water pressure and electric were strong but no internet nor cable. Playground equipment was ancient as was washer and dryer in laundry. Sites are not numbered since they lead you to a spot where you should fit. Heavily shaded with mature Shagbark hickories. - Jitime40
Jul 2018 - $20.00
Good value. 50 amp, no sewer or water at site but has dump station. Lot was level. Nice playgrounds for kids. Lake with docks for fishing and a small boat ramp. Restaurant was closed. - PawPaw1969
Oct 2017 - $20.00
We stayed 4 days in a class A motorhome. The road into the park is paved but each site is gravel. The sites could use more gravel. There were few night light posts and all could use a good cleaning. The dock area had no lighting and was really dark. The shower house needs updating and cleaning. The push button showers do not stay on long enough and the water was extremely hot. Bonus was lots of trees for shade. Host was friendly. - Marigold

This is an old park, and needs some TLC. The showerhouse was dirty and needs a good coat of paint after cleaning. The campsites are gravel, and some more gravel wouldn't hurt. It is clear that little is being done on maintenance in this park. The campsites are wooded, so lots of shade from the sun. The lake is lovely, and there's a dock near the campsites to fish from, or tie up a boat. In short, IDNR could do better than they're doing in this state park campsite. - User3333
Aug 2018 - $15.00
Have stayed several times. Out in the country with farm fields on three sides. Very quiet. Has FHU with 30 amp electric. No laundry or store. Newton Lake is about one mile east with good fishing. - ROPeach
Jul 2014 - $15.00
We found this park because the local State Park was full for the busy July 4th weekend. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised how nice this campground was. While small with only 30 sites, there where 3 long term trailer along the edge. Beside those units, we had the entire park. This on a holiday weekend! This park suffers from lack of advertising or a website. All sites are on grass but the ground is hard and we didn't have any issues, even after a rain. Water and Sewer and 30 amp at all sites. Large rig friendly and several pull-through sites. This campground doesn't offer anything fancy, no Wi-Fi, no cable, no shower, but it does have a restroom with toilets only. If you want to camp near Lake Newton, or want to camp in a quiet location, this is the place for you. We have never had a nicer campsite for the price. (While the address is in Newton, IL it's actually closer to Bogota, IL.) - damonbeals
Oct 2019 - $43.00
Yes, this an older KOA and the empty pool shows it. It needs painting badly. Most sites had grass growing through the gravel. Road noise from Rt 70 was extremely loud but not unusual for KOA's near major roads. This campsite served it's purpose for an overnight stay. - Dennison
Sep 2019 - $22.00
My rate was so low, as I used my reward points in addition to my KOA card. I do appreciate the rewards as it reduced my bill by $25. As usual, I find KOA's too expensive and this was definitely too expensive, but just happened to be in the right spot for where we needed to stop after a long day of driving. Although the location was okay... on a lake that was pretty, close to the freeway but not so close to be noisy... the long dusty driveway was horrible! Our rig and especially our tow car was encased in dust. The roadway into the pull in site was a little tight on the turns with the tow attached but my husband managed. I was disappointed to hear that the pool was closed as it was warm and this would have been the only amenity that I would have used. We would not stay here again due to the dusty road. Our rig was a mess all the way home. - Danni
Sep 2019 - $43.00
Park-like setting with trees beside lake in cornfields. Owner escorted us to site. Stone driveway way rutted - needed to be raked level. We were not level. Our site was 'lakeside', but we could only look at the lake. Restrictions for dog-walking did not allow Ginger onto grass beside lake. We were able to get propane.
Construction is in progress. Replacing roof on shower building. Appreciated close access to highway. Wi-Fi spotty. Several Seasonal sites. - classylady45
