Nice stopover! Easy to find. Pleasant property with a big pond. Comfortable overnight stay. Friendly and helpful owner. Will return next time our travels take us this way. - Flying Mantis
Sep 2018 - $35.00
As usual, we had a FHU site that was satellite friendly. The site hookups were not well placed but we managed to make it work. The Wi-Fi was OK for our minimal (e-mail and web surfing) needs. The bathroom facilities are adequate for this small park/ . - Jerry S

Close to Interstate for a one night stop over. Front sites are long enough that you do not have to disconnect. We were in site 1 and had no neighbor beside us, so had plenty of room. A lot of nice green pasture and quiet neighborhood surrounding. No picnic table at each site, but one with a fire ring is in the grassy area directly behind the parking and plenty of room to set up a chair and have a nice peaceful area to overlook the little driving range. We would stay again. - Gypsy Duo
Aug 2018 - $30.00
Stayed one night. Check in was fine w nice staff. We stayed in the front area which is basically 10 pull thru sites in a field. Very, very close. If we had put out our chairs, they would have been 2 feet from the neighbors sewer port. WIFI didn't work as we were about 50 yards from their office. No cable TV either which we knew ahead of time, but OTA was limited. No fire ring or picnic table. Not a good value overall. - DaveBatez
Jul 2018 - $34.00
We stayed here overnight. Had a nice easy pull through site with full hookups. Check-in was polite and quick. Nice quiet RV park just off Interstate 74. - LDW5707

We spent 1 night here after a great Champagne Snow snowfall, and our dogs loved frolicking in the snow. The area was quiet and peaceful. Since there was a snowfall, I wasn't certain if we were sitting on gravel or concrete. All in all, it was decent. A lake is across the road; my guess is it's a nice setting in summer and fall. - Sally Kely
Jul 2014 - $15.00
Something happened since I was here last. I think there is a new manager. It appears that most sites are now filled with RVs that are seasonal. This left very few sites for a rig to just show up (this is a no reservations campground). The rate for 7 days was $100 plus electric which is very reasonable. Hookups were a stretch on the site that I was on but worked fine. Satellite and antenna were good and Verizon cell and Internet were strong. I come here to visit family. I may check out another campground close by the next time I'm in the area. - RVW Traveler
Oct 2012 - $18.00
This is a membership Sportsmans Club. Most sites are grass. The full hookup sites are small on gravel right in the middle of the entrance. Very few sites have their own fire pit. Two types of sites, full hookup or electric with community water spigots located within a 100' or so of each site. The oddest thing is that almost every site has the power post on the passenger side if the rig. Sites are relatively level but a lot are not. For some reason, you can hear the highway noise quite a bit. It is about two miles away. Small playground but nothing much more for the kids. If you are visiting the area, it will suffice. $18 is for electric only. - Wydglide

Park is about five miles north of I74. It is surrounded by corn and soy bean fields and is very quiet (except for the drivers on IL49 out front but they are few and far between). There is a train track south of I74 with an occasional passing train that you can hear because it is so very quiet in the park. The Five Bridges refers to the pond between the owners' home and the sites; there are five bridges across it. There are plenty of birds in the trees and shrubs around the pond and we saw a chipmunk a couple of times and heard a bullfrog. Friendly, chatty host drove us to our site and aligned us to it. There was 50A electric and water but no sewer. There was a dump site on the way out. The road gate for the park was locked at dusk but the gate by the owners' house was always open. Had a relaxing, pleasant time. Stayed three nights in a 40' motorhome while I went to my class reunion in Danville. - r.boylan

Some GPS units may send you to the wrong location; but ours was accurate. Call to get directions if you feel it's necessary. The interesting thing about this campground was that you had to drive through the grass to be able to "pull-through" your campground; which is exactly what they want you to do. They even have you follow their golf-cart to get to your site doing this. Full hookups at all sites; everything worked as it should. The sites were a little close for such a big area. - Wandering With Us
Jun 2018 - $27.00
Quick overnight on the way to SoCal. Nice quiet park with lots of mature trees for shade. Surrounded by fields. Some might say a little run-down, but fine for me. Level sites. Helpful on-site manager. I wish all the higher-priced parks had internet as good as Prairie Pines'! Not super-fast but solid; it didn't fade to nothing in the evening. - Doncooke
May 2018 - $27.00
We decided to stop here rather than one of the "better", private, more expensive RV parks farther south on I-57 to save a few bucks. We've been her before and knew what to expect. We had a roomy, fairly level, FHU, pull through site. Since we knew there is no cable TV, we were happily surprised to be able to get a satellite friendly site in this park that has lots of tall trees. The Wi-Fi was fine for our minimal (e-mail and web surfing) needs. The bathrooms were clean and the laundry appeared adequate for this park. I saw no other amenities or recycling in the park. - Jerry S

Showed up July 3 without reservations; park was only about 1/4 full and we had our pick of spots for the night even though there were no spots available after that due to the July 4th weekend. Parked in a great spot near the lake. Fireflies put on a great light show! - ME for Maine
May 2011 - $20.00
This was a nice, clean, quiet park. It had easy access to the lake. Trash cans with lids kept any animals away. There was plenty of shade. - rvingwithfam
Aug 2010 - $20.00
Very nice and quiet park. Easy access to lake for fishing and boating. Band played on Saturday night. Very quiet through out the park. Rangers and Camp Host were present numerous times during the day. Trash cans with lids were located between each site and picked up each morning. - mr.beebo

May 2017 - $25.00
Barely OK for an overnight stop. Used to be an OK place but has been let go. Trees are overgrown, sewer connections are hard to locate, needs gravel in the pot holes and just looks sad. Honor system drop box for the fees. Looks like someone started to redo the sewer system and the place needs a real going over. Hookups hard to locate. Some were in the middle of the drive/parking pathways. - BennieH
Oct 2009 - $30.00
This was an old run down park with no one on duty just drop payment in the office door. It was raining the day we stopped here and the entire park was a swamp. Would not stop here again. - NevadaJim
Oct 2009 - $30.00
Right off I-57 and easy to access but there is no sign at the entrance except "vacancy". No one in the office. Hodge-podge of sites that were once orderly. Difficult to see what water spigots went with which sites though water and electric were excellent. Sewer hookups in the center of each site. Advertised free cable TV in Trailer Life but it was not available. Showers and washrooms not available for use. No lighting after dark. There was a sign on the office door giving the rate of "$30 for one night, $25 for two or more nights. Put money in slot." What a joke! No amenities, no host: for $30 a night! We planned on staying two nights but left the following morning, never having seen another soul. - loneranger

Aug 2018 - $20.00
Electricity but no water at the site. Level campsites. Lots of trees so some shade and privacy. Bathrooms were not very clean. The hiking paths were not maintained well and not marked well. We didn't use the mountain bike trails but there were a lot of them. Best part for us is there are quite a few first-come, first-serve campsites so we were able to find a campsite even though many local parks were reserved full. They do not take credit cards. - J and C
Aug 2018 - $15.00
Electric only, water available at dump station and a few spigots. Nice big sites with lots of shade if you want or out in the open. Canoeing, kayaking, tubing, bikes for rent. A small restaurant opened this year. Lots of hicking trails. Deer viewing every night. - Landyachty
Oct 2017 - $20.00
Very disappointed that there were no water hook ups at each campsite. Not enough clearance around the campsite for company to join you around the fire pit either. Dump station near the entrance. - Tough1
