Sep 2019 - $40.00
Arrived at the park and no one in the office nor did anyone answer the park number. I had a reservation so waited until the owner drove up in her golf cart. Park is older and has an older feel. Various buildings on the grounds that Were not identified what they were used for. No map given out. Grass mowed well and grounds look nice. Site was grass with an old concrete slab next to it. Quiet park. Probably would not return . - sp123
Aug 2019 - $1.00
Great family owned park. We stayed on a grass spot that required minor leveling. No issues with electric/water/sewage. (Did not use park restroom/shower facilities). Nice walking path along the canal. Mature trees provided plenty of shade. Friendly staff. No WiFi available through the park. We travel with a Verizon jet pack in case of no/poor WiFi. It worked great. We will stay here again! - Wine Wagon

We're not even sure where to start with this review. This is just one of those places that you drive up into and just say, "WOW!" It was SO beautiful at Hickory Grove Campground, so peaceful, and there were so many wonderful people there. We really wish that we could have stayed longer! Next time we will! Situated smack-dab in the middle of the Heartland, Hickory Grove Campground is exactly what is sounds like it would be. Tall, beautiful hickory trees surround the camp and provide tons of very welcome shade. The camp is located adjacent to the Hennepin Canal and has a boat ramp and dock available. We didn't get the opportunity to kayak or fish it, but we walked down to the dock and marveled at how many fish we saw boiling! Really wish we had more time! The site we were at was grass and just a bit unleveled. Of course, what would you expect being out in a beautiful grass field surrounded by hickory trees? It's not a problem whatsoever when you know how to properly level your rig and have the proper tools and equipment with you to do so! Our site had good, clean 30-amp power, water, and a sewage drain that the screw-in adapter worked well in. I was pleased I didn't have to use my doughnut adapter! And, of course, I saved the best for last! The owner of the campground is absolutely wonderful! So friendly and nice! Everybody that we ran into there were great. Such lovely people! We couldn't have asked for a nicer stopover. We have already decided to spend a few days there next year when we return and highly recommend it to others! - Running on MT

This is an electric only campground, but for Illinois, it ranks as one of the prettier ones along the 1-80 Corridor. Site was a tad uneven so we needed to level. We were in the pine section of the campground. The area was clean and the overall park was perfect for a fall visit. Nice little known gem. - Wildboar Dan
Jul 2017 - $20.00
Nice campground as long as you bring your own restroom. Round barn well worth visiting. - mojomoho
Aug 2016 - $20.00
Beautiful park with well spaced sites, almost empty on a Sunday afternoon. Looks like lots of trails, but we were just overnight. Grounds very well kept but restroom building needs to be cleaner. - Darleen

May 2014 - $17.00
Nice large park out in the woods 20 miles to small town. Most sites are back in but very long and level. All sites have grass areas and table and most have large shade trees. Only 1-2 bars Verizon signal and no campground WiFi. Only a few open sites good for satellite. Office staff friendly and helpful. Mostly seasonally and ownership trailers in wooded areas. Several of the roads have large overhanging trees and hit rig. Would not stay there again as it is too far out of the way and nothing to do when you get there. Rate is for PA. - Pepper Dan
May 2013 - $17.00
This park is way off the highway and has nothing to offer. It is big rig accessible, however, the owner told us to go down "the middle road" when entering and drive down to the pull through sites. The turn into these sites was very narrow and had low branches. We had to back up the road, go around and back in. The sites were very long but the electrical hookup had so many cobwebs inside the box we were doubting if it would work, but it did. The office looked like a shack that was falling down, nasty. Would not stay here again - Jan W
May 2013 - $30.00
The manager and her crew have the best park in America. Family owned and operated. Five small lakes that are perfect for family fishing. Clean, quiet, and safe. Weekend entertainment or activities. Lots of seasonal (April - October) full-timers use this ranch and stay for years or decades. People look out for each other and still respect your privacy. The best and most helpful staff you will ever meet. Rustic tent camping too! This ranch is UP above the river! - SLFTRV

Oct 2019 - $33.00
There aren't many "mom and pop" reasonable campgrounds around these days. Geneseo campground is entirely owned such a couple. They are the most endearing campground owners we have met to date. The park borders the great Hennepin canal which runs for miles. There is a firm gravel path along side that is ideal for biking, walking or running. Voltage, wifi, and water were fine. This campground may not have all the amenities like a $50/night, or more campgrounds, but the owners really make the difference. Highly recommend the whole package.
There is an 10' underpass in town you need to avoid if you have a high trailer. From route 80, just follow the road through town. Once you cross over the tracks you can turn left for a coupe of blocks, then right a couple of miles to the campground. - Jimpav
Jun 2019 - $33.00
When exiting the interstate, follow the BLUE signs to the RV park. Otherwise you will come up to a 10' railroad bridge!! We camped shortly after the area was inundated with all the rain. It was evident that they were still in the drying out process. Some standing water at the very back of the park and deep ruts around sites from rigs/trucks. There were quite a few permanent sites. Staff was friendly. Laundry facilities were clean. Adorable town driving through, but didn't have time to peruse it. Had the feel of Mayberry. - Corby Clan
Jun 2019 - $45.00
All most perfect, the only down point was the lack of water pressure for the showers, The bathhouse was very clean, The Staff friendly, our site was gravel and level the wifi was very fast. Due to the time of year it was very buggy that was not the fault of the camp. So no one was getting much outside time. There is a wonderful walking path along the canal, all in all a great place. We only spent one night and it did fill up pretty fast after 4pm. - romstead
