Good value. 50 amp, no sewer or water at site but has dump station. Lot was level. Nice playgrounds for kids. Lake with docks for fishing and a small boat ramp. Restaurant was closed. We camped at Red Hills State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 4 days in a class A motorhome. The road into the park is paved but each site is gravel. The sites could use more gravel. There were few night light posts and all could use a good cleaning. The dock area had no lighting and was really dark. The shower house needs updating and cleaning. The push button showers do not stay on long enough and the water was extremely hot. Bonus was lots of trees for shade. Host was friendly. We camped at Red Hills State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This could be a super state park with a little work such as more gravel added to sites, absolutely more lighting! No outside lights were on by the pit toilets, and no outside lights by the dock area. There was only (1) shower house/toilet building and it needs to be updated and cleaned. The push button water control is impossible to use as the water was so hot with no temperature control and only stayed on for a minute. Another shower house/toilet building would be appreciated.

This is an old park, and needs some TLC. The showerhouse was dirty and needs a good coat of paint after cleaning. The campsites are gravel, and some more gravel wouldn't hurt. It is clear that little is being done on maintenance in this park. The campsites are wooded, so lots of shade from the sun. The lake is lovely, and there's a dock near the campsites to fish from, or tie up a boat. In short, IDNR could do better than they're doing in this state park campsite. We camped at Red Hills State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Lovely state park with a great RV camp area. Paved roads with gravel sites. All lots shaded, and some have a view of the lake. Very quiet during the week, noisier and more crowded on the weekends. Access to water and dump station. 30 amp power on all sites. The bath house is nice for a small state park. The fishing in the lake is great! We camped at Red Hills State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Great fishing in the lake: bass and bluegill are plentiful. If you are in the mood for ice cream then hit the Dairy Deep in Sumner: it is less than 5 minutes away!

Overall Rating:

This is a State Park with little or no repairs having been done in a while. They have water available to fill your tanks before parking and a dump station. The trails along the lake are nice to walk the dog. You can purchase firewood from camp host, We didn't go over but there was a restaurant on the opposite side of the lake. You could get limited antenna TV even with the trees. We camped at Red Hills State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
