Inexpensive overnight spot at an airport. Easy in, easy out, very long pull throughs. Our site had water, electric and sewer. It was extremely quiet, the only aircraft we saw or heard was the Life Flight helicopter taking off about 11pm, and that was not a problem. The owner was very nice on the phone and appears to be reachable. The campground host was very accommodating and helped us into the site. There is a small playground for the kids but not much else. The washrooms/showers appeared functional but could do with some remodeling. We did not use them. There are washers and dryers also, did not use. There is a small cafe/restaurant at the airport, sandwiches and some dinner specials, very reasonable. There is an underpass on RT37 you need to go through but it is 13'10", so should not be a big deal. We would stay again on our way down I-57. We camped at Percival Springs Airport & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very casual cafe (The Hanger) next to campground, sandwiches, salad bar specials. Friday night fish fry/buffet. It is convenient if you're not wanting to cook a meal. Inexpensive.

Nice little park. Easy in, easy out. Friendly host. Level site, FHU, quiet and inexpensive, approximately 5 miles from I-57. A previous post said the bridge on IL-37 was 11’10”, but that must be a typo, it is actually 13’ 10” and no problem for our motorhome at 12’7”. We camped at Percival Springs Airport & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night in this campground attached to a small private airport. We arrived via Exit 59 off I-57 and traveled Rt 45. The road is plenty wide but very rough. When we left the campground, we took Rt 37 and got onto the highway at Exit 151. This route was much quicker and smoother. There is a low clearance bridge on this route (11' 10") but we had no difficulty navigating this. We drive a 45ft MH with a tow and navigated the campground carefully and were able to keep the car attached. As previously noted, the signs are not helpful and it is a bit uncertain where to park and pay. The pull-through sites run in opposite directions so one shares a yard with the next coach. If you pull in front of the hanger and cafe, you can enter the pull through from the back. If you enter and go right into the driveway, one can enter from the top. Some reviewers have paid at the cafe but when I registered, I was instructed to pay the host located on site 1. This is a now frills place and needed a little maintenance when we were there as the grass needed to be mowed and the flower beds were a bit rough looking. That said, the sites are long and level and utilities are well placed and work well. Place is very quiet and peaceful located next to a large corn field with a grass airstrip mowed into the middle of it. We did not have any airplane noise while we were there. Did not use wifi or rest rooms (not sure if they have any) so can't comment on that. Good overnight stop. We camped at Percival Springs Airport & RV Park in a Motorhome.

The park was a little hard to find. It is clean but very simple. No wifi, phone, or much of anything else. It was quiet and the Hanger restaurant had very cheap and good food. Just used the park for overnight and left early the next morning. We camped at Percival Springs Airport & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a very small park just off US maybe 10-miles south of downtown Effingham. Signage into the park is OK but it helped to have the GPS warning me. Interior signage about where to stop to register is lacking. When you enter stop near the cafe. There are maybe 12-15 sites (I didn't count them), several of which seem to be more or less permanent residents. There are 3 or 4 v-e-r-y long FHU pull-thrus each with both 30 and 50-amp power. There is no office to speak of but the campground owner can be found near the adjacent café. If she is not around look for the host at the first site. No paperwork to fill out, no discounts, no credit cards...not sure about checks as we just paid cash. The owner and the host couldn't have been more nice and accommodating if they had tried. This park is very quiet and peaceful. Road noise from US45 is minimal. There is a small playground for kids but that's it for recreation except for watching the medical rescue copter and the occasional small plane take off and land. Satellite reception is iffy but OTA reception was OK. We were in space #4 and were able to lock in on the DISH birds by pulling nearly all the way forward but that meant digging out my extra 25-feet of 50-amp cable. So if you want satellite and you want sun pull forward, if you want shade stay towards the back. The pull-thrus are oriented E-W with our windshield facing east. Didn't hook up to water or sewer but I would've needed my extra water and sewer hoses for that as well. Park is very good for overnight or even a longer stay. I can see us staying here for a few days for a very quiet, relaxing stay. We will absolutely stay here again. We camped at Percival Springs Airport & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We came from the north and exited I-57 at exit 159, drove east maybe 2- miles to US45 and then turned south. Park entrance is maybe 10-miles from that point.

Overall Rating:

We camped here overnight. It's a cute little spot, but no playground or pool for the kids. It's a very simple campground that butts up against a very small airport. The owners are local farmers and they own the airport, campground, and a small resaurant that is right next to the campgrounds. There was also a driving range w/automatic golf ball dispenser. The restaurant food was very reasonable and good. There was a flat 20$ per nite fee, no extra for the kids. The restrooms were pretty clean but needed a good "dusting". The owners were very kind people. It was a very "laid-back" campground. We camped at Percival Springs Airport & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very peaceful location. Owners were extremely helpful when I rolled in after 2200 hours one night. Campground is a bit rustic but it is a great place to hang your hat for the night. It was definitely worth the five mile trek from I-57. I would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Percival Springs Airport & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
