Jul 2015 - $24.00
Quick check in. Gravel sites but seemed level. Pull thru sites for big rigs. Good WiFi. A really nice gated grass area for pets to run around without a leash. Plenty of grassy area behind, in front and between sites. Picnic table and a tree at each site. Park is not overcrowded at all and it's super quite. Staff is super friendly and really cared that we had a good stay. Even offered to give us a ride to the Chevy dealer in town where we were having our tow car serviced. We would definitely stay here again. - EggerMar
May 2012 - $17.00
We stayed in this campground because it was close to our daughters house and we came to visit our new grandson. We stayed for 3 weeks. The camp hosts are very nice and helpful and I would give the little campground a 10 but can't due to the conditions of the bathrooms. The bathrooms are very primitive and dirty. One toilet had no seat, one sink was broke, no soap or paper towels. The showers offer little privacy, have push button knobs, no where to set your things and there were cigarette butts and old toilet paper on the floor. YUCK! We stayed in a treeless, gravel pull through. The space was huge and clean. They due have nice sites with trees but they aren't as big. Wi-Fi worked good but had terrible TV reception. Nice, quaint little park but if you stay here definitely bring your own potty and shower. - Bolt
Dec 2011 - $25.00
The park was very quiet and clean. Sites were very easy to pull onto. Location is close enough to Carbondale SIU and several wonderful wineries in the area. - Debkay2u

Jun 2018 - $17.00
About two miles off the highway. Pretty easy to get to from the interstate by taking the truck route. There are a lot of permanent campers but they are pretty tidy and friendly. We had a pretty long pull-thru for our night stay. Fairly level so it didn't require extra effort to level. Power and water only and both worked fine. No Wifi. It is quiet and a pretty little spot with a lake on one side and big open field on the other. Worked fine for our overnight stop. Dump station not really convenient when leaving as I had to make a big loop to get in. - cwier
Aug 2017 - $15.00
We stopped at the campground as an overnight stay during travel. Not too far off the interstate with easy drive through the small town. The staff is extremely friendly. We were assigned an easy pull-through site with water and electric. While we were setting up, a staff member stopped by to inquire if all was well. During a walk through the park, we discovered a group of fellows were playing music on the porch of the store. They were great and we enjoyed being part of their audience. Our site overlooked a meadow and we spotted deer in the morning as we were packing up. The dump station is easy access near the exit. There are some long term residents and there sites are kept nice and neat as well as the park. The only negative was the bath house was dirty and the showers moldy. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay, and would definitely stay here again. - Golfgirl
Jul 2017 - $12.00
We stayed overnight on our way to St. Louis. Friendly owner, spacious campsites, 2 miles off interstate in a quaint "throwback" town. Nothing super fancy but perfect for our needs and quite a bargain. Would stay here again. - ECC

It's winter and we needed a place to wait out the snow storm. We had a big pull through site that was easy to get in and out. 2 sections of the campground straddle the main road. We were on the west side, with sites arranged around the pond. This place would be very nice in summer. Only issue is the entrance off the road... short steep hump in the road; we had to pull in at an angle to keep from dragging the rear of the motorhome. Nice little campground store; they even offered to deliver food to our site. But we travel with way too much food already! - jimandlisa
Sep 2018 - $40.00
Greeted warmly although I was early for my reservation because of time zone. Escorted to my site. TV was fuzzy on some channels, but overall good. Adjacent to I 55 so lots of traffic noise and trains. - Sunchaser v
Jun 2018 - $39.00
Nice campground with very friendly staff. Even have a small kitchen that delivers sandwiches, etc. Our site was a pull through and level. I was concerned that our site was in an area that was down hill next to a stream and we were expecting rain. That said, the site area drained well and no issues were had. We travel with a dog so we found the dog park very small and limited space to walk around campground. Did walk on road next to campground but not recommended. There is a second part of campground across the street from where we were and may be more long term folks around a pond area. We knew nor were informed of this option when we arrived. Our site was close to tree hedges that appeared adjacent to I-57 and there was much road noise. Next time I would check on other side of road. - ownedafew

Our first site, #82, was extremely unlevel. Do not recommend this site except for the smallest trailer. We were moved to site #72 which was perfect. Beware of site #82. - KristyWat690
Sep 2018 - $8.00
Our 3d overnite stay in Owl's Roost section in 7 years. Well kept COE park with paved roads and sites. Extensive biking and hiking paths, lots of forest with deer, squirrels seen. Other sections have sites by the large lake. At Owl Roost electric only at 11 of 18 sites. a toilet/sink hut only with a water faucet close by in center of Owl Roost loop. Dump near entrance. My main complaint is almost all sites in the park are unlevel as seen from a biking around, many badly. Overall, the park is a great public resource. - 210jem
May 2018 - $8.00
The person that checks you in was awesome. The campground litterally had 4 out of every 5 sites slanted. We had 4" under the back wheels and our trailer tongue was on the ground and we still were not level but it worked. We had, in our opinion one of the 2 best sites onto park. Excellent view, private but you could hear highway noise depending on the wind. Our site did need a better pick-up. - myo

We were in site 170. It had full hookups including sewer. The site was fairly level with a large area for the picnic table. A lot of sites had extra parking spaces. The park was very quiet and peaceful. Campground is kept clean. Great spacing between sites with views of the woods and lake. - User3701
Oct 2017 - $12.00
Typical COE campground - well maintained, well laid out. Site spacing was good, most sites level. The Rend Lake bike trail is a long, concrete paved trail that runs around the South end of the lake and attaches visitor centers, day use areas, campgrounds and scenic areas. The path is segmented now, but will eventually include the State Park and run all the way to Mt. Vernon. You think of a bike trail being mostly flat - not so with the Rend Trail, but still a good trail for those who are in shape and used to biking. Some sites are full hookup. - Bama Camper
Sep 2017 - $12.00
Beautiful location. Trimming some trees would improve the view. The county road you travel on to get there is a rough ride especially with the camper attached. Regular rate $24.00. (50% discount for Golden Agers). No wifi or cable - MamaBird

Jun 2018 - $16.00
Nice, quiet park with plenty of room to explore. There is a long bike trail, over 20 miles. It is about 1 mile to South Sandusky Campground along the trail which also features a small beach area. Has clean bathrooms with flush toilets rather than the standard pit type in Illinois parks. There are also showers which are kept clean. Our loop (White Oak) had 4 showers. I did not have a tow vehicle, but the driveway was long enough for a long RV and probably one or two more vehicles. - Bogie71
May 2017 - $6.00
Nice campground. Large spaces between the sites. Roads are good, a couple of the turnaround circles are tight but ok. Rules say no parking on grass but it wasn't enforced. Quiet at night. We will return. - Chuck McC
Sep 2016 - $8.00
Nicely spaced mostly shady sites, asphalt pads, it seems the concrete picnic table is on the dirt at most sites. Some full hookup sites, most are electric only, so you must fill water at CG dump station, though spigots are located throughout the grounds. Sites are mostly level, but some waterfront ones may have a bit of a grade - saw several trailers with many blocks under the rear end and the tongue nearly on the asphalt. Electricity was always 124- 126 V. The maintenance contractor is a good one; fire pits are cleaned and the grounds are mowed often. The restrooms and shower house are some of the cleanest I've seen, the shower house has epoxy floors, although shower pressure isn't all that great. The boat launch and picnic area are close by. - Hickory Nut

Dec 2018 - $35.00
This is a relatively small campground in a residential area that is convenient to the interstate for an overnight stop. There is nothing special other than it has full hookups. Interior roads are a bit tight, but navigable. All interior roads and RV sites are gravel. We were able to fit our 40' MH and toad on our site, but just barely. Our site was very soft (so we made no attempt to level) and there was standing water in much of the campground. They had about 4" of rain in the past 24 hours before we arrived. There were several long term residents in the campground, but their RV's were neatly maintained. There appeared to be several places to eat within a short driving distance. - Phaeton_Owner
Dec 2018 - $36.00
We stayed here for a month during Christmas 2018. The manager, is fantastic, she keeps the park clean, quiet and is very responsive to any problems. For example, during our stay, one of the clothes dryers kept eating our quarters one night. We told her about this the next day, and she promptly refunded what we had lost. This campground is adjacent to I-57, but the road noise isn't too bad, especially if you like to sleep with a small fan running. The park was about a third to half full during our stay, occupied by folks who were working in the area (eg. travel nurses), but no "riff-raff". Everything is clean. We took advantage of the monthly rate, which was $525 at the time we stayed here, and this was with full hookups and included electric. We will definitely be staying here again! - SeanSadler
Jun 2018 - $35.00
We had been on the road for hours and were hot and tired when we arrived. The lady in the office was so welcoming and friendly. It is amazing how her attitude made us feel. The campground was immaculate in every way, and it is obvious that great care is taken to keep it so. This was an overnight stop at the end of a month's trip. The campground is easily accessible to the interstate. We will return to this campground and stay longer next time we are in the area. - mtnloverme

Jan 2019 - $42.00
Very nice park with plenty of shade. The interior roads are a little tight and I can imagine it might be a bit tricky in a big rig. The CG is very nice however not very quiet as advertised. There is noise from the road and highway. Also there were trains going by night and day. The worst part was that we woke up on Wednesday to the sound of a lawn mower sucking up leaves and then a leaf blower. The park is huge and there were leaves in the rest of the park yet our area must have been top priority. The lawn mower was literally circling our RV at one point and driving back and forth past it for over an hour and a half. At one point that stopped and then the leaf blower started. It was right beside our RV on both sides. We were the only RV parked in our row. Then the lawn mower began again and continued until we left. I understand there needs to be lawn maintenance, I don't understand why it had to be done only around our RV first and for so long. Not the parks fault but on Monday the big rig parked next to us had an electrical problem and had to start it's motor and let it run every 20 minutes. Someone came out to repair it but they continued to run the motor periodically all day and that night. The park does look very nice and the person running it was nice. The laundry area is very nice and the washers and dryers are very affordable. Could be the cheapest we have paid to do laundry. The wood carvings around the park are incredible and we loved all the trees. We may stay here again for an overnight stop since it is the only one in the area, but only for one night. - KingFisher2
Dec 2018 - $35.00
VERY, VERY clean restrooms and showers!! The only thing that made me a bit nervous was taking a shower at 5:00 a.m. .......knowing that anyone from the street/road could walk into the restrooms. There wasn't a "code", key-card or anything to restrain non-campers from entering the facilities. The roads were a bit muddy, so that and the free access restrooms were the only thing that kept me from giving this overnight stop a perfect 10. I actually liked the wandering chickens crowing about! LOL! - SewBzzzy
Oct 2018 - $35.00
The park was quiet but clean. The park has lots of trees. The office staff was cordial but not overly friendly. I appreciated the fresh eggs and enjoyed watching the free roaming chickens. I would definitely return. - Solo Rver

Traveling through and needed a one night stay. We like COE parks in general and this was another nice one. There are a number of different loops in the park area, which is situated around Rend Lake. The closer you get to the lake, the less level the sites. We had a good and level site, with water, sewer and 50 amp. Nearing the end of the season, but still nice and green. Lots of outdoor activities, and a god size town only a few miles away. We would use again, and would like to try in the summer. - SandmannRV
Aug 2018 - $12.00
We spent one night here. We stopped here so we could see the George Harrison Billboard Guitar mural prepared by John Cerney in Benton. These are great murals all around the country. This one is on I-57 southbound side. A very nice COE Park. Had full hookups which is unusual for our experience with COE parks. Was very busy for a COE park. Staff and campers were very friendly. Lots were not real level side-to-side. Many were very steep front to back and many campers were almost on the ground in the front and way high in the back. Drive around to pick out your best choice. Our lot was on relatively level ground front-to-back, and off level side-to-side. - Mike from Bama
Aug 2018 - $12.00
Some of the sites in this COE have full hookups. We were in a beautiful back in site (#029) right on the water with full hookups. The site was quite sloped, and difficult to level our 40' fifth wheel, but we managed with being a little off. The beauty of the site was worth a degree or two off-level. Neighbors were far enough away that we had plenty of privacy and quiet. We put our dish near the water and had no trouble accessing DISH TV satellites. AT&T cell signal was okay. Interior roads were adequate to navigate. We loved this campground. - OH2SD
