Older gravel pull through sites, but fairly level. Grass between sites. Showers were OK, but a little tired, and in need of a bit more than the usual day to day cleaning. Clean laundry room. Sites are in need of maintenance, which gave the park a run down appearance. Too bad, as it would take only a little effort to polish the place up. Overll, an OK stop for the night, and we would stop here again. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stay at this park because of its location near family members in Fort Wayne. We will be definitely be staying here again in the future. There are very limited options for a big rig in this area. The good points are excellent power, good water pressure, and long level pull through sites. It is close to I-69 interstate so there is some traffic noise depending upon wind direction. Roof mounted dishes will have no problem because the sites are open to the sky. Verizon telephone and data reception were both very good. Office manager was pleasant and efficient. We didn't use the campground wi-fi enough to rate it. The campground has had a drainage problem during past visits. They have obviously added some drainage recently, but it is unclear whether that has resolved the problems of wet sites or not. During our stay, there were piles of rock and dirt piled around the campground. Our assumption is that more work is still to be done although we did not see any activity during our 9 day stay. The bathroom showers were also in the process of being modified when we arrived, and we didn't see any progress on that job during our stay either. The pool is closed although the manager indicated they hoped to have it opened by the end of the summer, but it seems unlikely looking at the pool's present condition. The campground stays full or nearly full throughout the year so there is not a lot of motivation to improve the appearance of the campground. However, if I owned the campground, I would be hiring some teenagers with weed trimmers to clean up the severely overgrown sites. There appears to be no pride in ownership beyond the minimal amount of lawn mowing. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Helpful manager on arrival, (was only her 2nd day!) moved us from our reserved site (very wet) to a somewhat drier one with some grass. We had to go down to 30 Amp on new site. Sites could use more graveling to mitigate water buildup. There is a lot of iron in the water in this area so a filter is highly recommended for any extended stay. Entry road was hard to find because plastic campground banner blew down in the wind so watch for it very close to exit ramp. There was a lot of previous camper's debris/trash in some of the fire rings. A good location until we could move to campground closer in to Fort Wayne. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very close to Auburn which has a great car museum and a nice "old town". Mad Anthony's Pub has good local beer and tasty food. The "built-up" retail area near the Interstate can be very hectic but has lots of food options plus a Walmart.

Fireside was there for us when there was no room at the State parks. That's what happens when you arrive on a Saturday. That said, we were placed next to a rig that appeared to have been there for a while. Stuff was scattered about, but the residents cleaned up when they returned and saw us there. The pool was National Lampoon's vacation, unusable. Restroom s were very clean. Nobody was at the office when we arrived, nor did we see anyone the next day. The campground has potential, but is lacking as a resort. Plenty of room for pull through. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Terribly poor maintenance. Filled 90% with seasonal road workers this year. 50 amp available, but only for the seasonal workers. Sewer connection missing cap. Made agreement 8 months ago to bring 20 coaches here for a rally and the management just cancelled at the last minute. Nice location but shabby treatment. We won't be back. This is a no frills, self-serve park with easy access to I-69. No discounts are offered. Site 7 was a 50 amp, FHU, pull-through site with a concrete pad. This is the only site with a concrete pad. The site was farther away from the interstate so traffic noise was not too bad. We had good satellite reception and good Verizon cell/MiFi reception. The park Wifi worked well at times and probably depended on the number of users. We stayed for three nights because of the easy access from the park to the genealogy library in Fort Wayne. We would stay here again. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here several days to tour several Museums. This park has seen better days but is easy to get to, good pull-through graveled and level sites. Person on duty was helpful and brought receipt to us within an hour. Not much for shade however and being August, the RV didn't cool down much. OK for few days or longer if don't need the shade, just behind the campground are 5 fabulous museums: National Military History, Auto Museum, the Early Ford V-8 Museum, and within them, the Horse drawn Apparatus Museum and a collection of many wild animal "Trophies" to tour and they are reasonably priced. Downtown Auburn has Auburn Cord Duesenburg Auto and the National Auto and Truck Museum. Recommend this town for a day stop if traveling through and this campground due to it's close proximity of them. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a no frills RV park but it is convenient to I-69 and good for an overnight stay. We've stayed here twice & both times, it was a "self serve" check-in. Pick a site, fill out the registration form & deposit it with cash or your credit card information in the box. There is no Wifi in the park. The washrooms & showers are clean. We did not use the laundry facilities. Will stay here again for convenience only. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is less and less each year that we stop.

This year some of the washrooms and showers were "out of order".

You have to check yourself in and leave the envelope......with your credit card number available.

Almost past the point of being convenient. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

"Fireside"? "Resort"? No, and definitely no. If you want to make your own fire, it's $2 for four pieces of wet wood. There are absolutely no amenities, and the campground consists of dirt sites with a little gravel left over from previous years. You will pay $34, with no discounts available, regardless of what type of site you pick. As it had rained, the whole place was muddy. I had to think twice about plugging in due to all the standing water in the low spot next to the pedestal. There is no cable, no Wi-Fi and no view. It's a field next to the freeway, in a town with no attraction. There is absolutely nobody on site to talk to about anything, much less complain. If I hadn't been dog-tired from an all day cross wind, I would have moved on. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The "resort" in the name is misleading. It looks like at one time someone had high ambitions, that for whatever reason, were never realized. There is a large log "lodge" that houses the "office" and shower/laundry facilities. The office is now abandoned and locked. It is self check-in. There may be a manager or owner who lives upstairs in the lodge, but never saw anyone. There are a bunch of signs explaining the self check in procedure but be sure to look at your selected site before checking in as a couple were totally flooded due to a broken underground water pipe that looks like it has been leaking for weeks, there was algae growing in the water and it had flooded a very large area across the road and into a field. The dump site was noted as unavailable. A sign noted that the WiFi was not working. The pool was covered as is appropriate for April but considering the lack of maintenance of the rest of the park I doubt that it is ever open. Right off the major highway with nothing to buffer the road noise. Overall a very sad state of affairs and at $34/night (another sign noted "no longer accepting any discounts") not a very good value. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is without a doubt, the strangest campground we've ever been to. When we pulled into the park, there was no one around but they had left a sign on their door to complete the registration form, pick a site, leave cash (or credit card info) and deposit it in the box provided. We didn't see anyone for the entire time we were there. They also had a sign apologizing for their Wifi not working and their dump station was operable. Having said all that, the park was okay for an overnight stay. I used their laundry room which was clean & tidy. The park has potential but it appears there might be some money problems or something else going on. Road noise was not an issue for us. We felt safe and would stay here again when passing thru the area but would not stay long term here. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I don't agree with some of the prior reviews. It comes down to what are you looking for in a CG. We stayed 2 nights while visiting the Auburn museums and Fireside served us well. Easy access, large level gravel sites excellent utilities. If you are looking for an RV resort environment this is not for you. Train and highway noise can be heard when sitting outside. The pool is closed and appears it has been for some time. However, the place is very clean, has friendly management and is an excellent overnight stop or stay when visiting Auburn. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Motorhome.

We camped here for 1 night. The campground had very few other visitors, and it appeared that little maintenance had been done to the park. The swimming pool had a "closed for the season" sign (in July?), the water was dirty, tiles missing. The playground had railings falling off,and appeared unmaintained and unsafe. Several electrical posts at campsites had plastic trash barrels over them. We would not return to this park. We camped at Fireside Resort at Kruse Park in a Travel Trailer.
