Being the fall and kids back in school the place is quiet and pools empty. I was skeptical based on some reviews and how cheap for full hookup. Everything worked well and the woman I called met me at the entrance, took me to the site and guided me in then had to leave saying she would be back later to get payment. I went the next afternoon to pay she didn't make it back and nobody said anything so I just went to the office and pay. While there I ask about checkout times and they said "oh, we really don't have one, just whenever is fine". This is the most laid back place I have seen. There are a lot of what seems to be full time trailers that are pretty worn out with no one in sight. During the summer it has a huge pool area with slides and lots of other things (basketball, tennis, volleyball courts). At the entrance they had BMX races and looked to be packed Friday evening. All in all a pretty great place and 10 min from evansville. I will concur with others that roads are pretty narrow and have to be cautious when exiting. - Comancheflight

Great value for full hookup to see the local sights, but extremely difficult to find!! GPS kept leading us to closed railroad tracks, and we had to unhook the jeep and back out a 40' DP. Campground was almost empty except for a few long term residents.....old motorhomes covered in blue tarps that appeared to be relatives of the campground host. Campground host was not at the check-in cabin upon arrival, so we had to wait for her to come walking from the relatives. Host asked us what site we were assigned (she appeared to have no clue or paperwork). When I gave her the site number, she stated that it wasn't a FHU site, which we had requested. I talked to her three times before coming, including one week prior, yet she failed to mention the road closures or site discrepancy. She walked over to stand on a tiered site, with no map or directions on how to get there. Luckily, my husband, in the jeep, drove ahead and found his way so I could follow. She came over 1/2 hour later with old, dog eared paperwork to fill out and sign.....and when I asked for a copy, she said she couldn't do that because it went to the county. She didn't even have a calculator to figure the amount for three nights, and was confused on departure day after three nights. On the second day, after coming back from watching our granddaughter in her competition, the host/manager came over and asked us if we had told her we were coming back?? We asked if we were supposed to check in and out??? She actually thought we had left with our 40' DP, which was parked three sites behind her trashy site, and then came back!!! We were dumbfounded! We left with our jeep for a few hours, but the motorhome had never moved. Scary!! This campground would have a lot to offer with a new host/manager and someone to clean it up. We will never, ever, ever return! - SewBzzzy

This park has a huge aquatic center which consists of an olympic sized pool and another huge pool, along with splash pools and slides. Kids would love it. There's a BMX track, basketball court. It rained the two days we were here so I did not experience the park as I would have liked. I did walk the dogs on the road through the park from the CG to the pool side. It is hilly. The CG sites are terraced, pull through. We had full hook-ups. There appear to be several campers who have been here for quite awhile. We just drove in as no one was attending the check-in shed. The CG host saw us and suggested a site. It was a very quiet stay. We did not have to use the levelers. Internet was unreliable, but, I did get it for a few hours. - Sunnie-Wheelhouse

May 2017 - $20.00
I stayed here two nights in Site 10 while passing through in a 27 foot motorhome with a tow car. Don't get site 10! Or 1-12 for that matter. Best sites are in the 20s, 30s and 40s which are in the back of the park past the bath house. The campground is right off the road. It is buffered by a stand of trees but there is still lot of noise off US 41. However it is also very convenient for the same reason. This is a large CCC park with many day use activity areas and a first class museum on Audubon which is contained in a French chateau built by the WPA in the 1930s. The campground is definitely dated. It has narrow roads and narrow pads which are almost randomly placed. But the sites are paved, and there is a lot of nice grass and big shade trees and you don't at all feel like you are in the middle of a city. I was there in the middle of the week and there were many open spaces so it felt very spacious. With all the sites filled it would be very crowded. Make sure you have a long water hose. Spigots are close to random and often very far away and on the wrong side of the site. Mine was next to my neighbor's fire ring. Some sites are seriously not level. Some sites have adjoining car parking but some don't. There are many walking trails in the park but only one for dogs which is described as "fairly difficult." It was that and more. Wifi is a subscription service and costs $3.99 a day. Verizon service was excellent. There are separate tent sites. Didn't use bath house. Didn't use dump station -- sign said $5 to dump. Rate reflects Kentucky 10% senior discount. Doesn't include the $7.50 it costs to reserve the site. If you are coming during the week I suggest saving the reservation fee and just drop in and pick out a site. You are more likely to get something you like. - SoloRed
Aug 2016 - $25.00
Audubon State Park has a lot to offer: camping, cabins, lake, golf course, and the museum. The campground, however, shows wear. It's a small campground, crammed next to a busy highway at the park's entrance. Many sites were deeply shaded and had paved pads, but the pads weren't very wide and some are quite short. Companion vehicle parking is available with some sites on a separate paved pad. Not sure that detail is noted on the reservation form, so it might be best to call. One bath house present and a small, one-hole dump station. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, departed late Monday morning and never saw a host to check us in. There might have been camp wifi, but we didn't have the code. We paid for our night via the after hours drop box.
Parking at the museum is limited, but it's a short walk from the campground. Interior roads are quite narrow, so it'd be best to drive a tow around the park. We used this campground as an overnight stop because we had a favorable impression when we stayed at the cabins 10 years ago. Now I'm not so sure I'd return again with an RV due to the cramped and noisy conditions and overall wear of the property. - Flying Mantis
Apr 2016 - $24.00
Audubon State Park is a little funky in its location: the park is located on US 41 in Henderson, but when you pull in, you go from city to wilderness in about 100 yards. The gal at the check-in gate allowed us to check in early. Sites are crowded together pretty close. Our site, number 5, had electricity and water, but the spigot and electric box were located about 40 feet from the camper. Shower houses were dated and in need of a little cleanup. Could've been because it was Sunday morning, but showers were a bit dirty. I think this state park would be one that would appeal to those who want the "away from it all" experience, yet want city amenities like restaurants and night life. Ellis Park is located 3 miles north of the state park for Horse racing fans. - Prairie Bayou

Definitely not top of the line RV Park, but was suitable for us for a couple nights. Manager was very friendly and helpful. The place needs some cleaning up and maintenance. Had a hard time finding our sewer because the cap was sitting one place and the sewer was covered in leaves. I had called the manager, and he immediately came over, but we found it right before he got there. He noticed the trash left by the previous tenant and immediately picked it up. Uneven ground, so had to be careful walking around when off the concrete pad. Previous tenants had built a patio area between two lots, but it was very wet, and the wood was sagging. Not safe to walk on. We were able to park in the lot next to us. Manager stated that from March until Thanksgiving this year (2017) he didn't even have room to put a pop-up camper because all 70 spots were full with workers for the refinery being built in the area. With some TLC and a bit of elbow grease, this could be a really nice little park. I did like that the manager realizes sometimes the spaces require getting your vehicle off into the grass when you are trying to back in. He said that was no problem....the grass will grow back. The lots are sitting at odd angles, which made backing in more difficult. Some lots are very close together, others have more room. We stayed for two nights to get some work done on our truck. Concrete pad was stated to be 40' long, and our 41' RV fit just fine. If we'd backed up further, we could have had our truck in front of the RV while disconnected too. I'd say the pad was closer to 50' long. Not our worst experience, but far from the best. - Marty O
Apr 2017 - $15.00
We planned on staying her for 6 months while my wife was a traveling nurse in Evansville. Day 1 we found this would be difficult as there was no cell voice SMS or data reception in the facility. As she would be on call for her job this was not going to work out. Our assigned site was too small for our rig, but mgmt advised against moving to a site further in as they warned it gets very muddy when it rains. It did rain heavily while we were there and the entire park smelled of sewage. We were there on Easter Sunday they had a egg hunt around a playground where the equipment was covered with black mold. We stayed 5 nights before we found a better option. We informed them we were leaving due to the phone issue - we paid a month in advance and they refused to refund any of our money. We later were told by locals that there had been a meth lab bust in the park - not surprised if you drive around and take a look at the "citizens" who are more or less permanent. - Bobur7
Mar 2007 - $18.00
I was very disappointed in this campground. We arrived to find that the waterfall was broken. The arcade games were not operational. We decided immediately to stay only one night. The manager seemed to be watching, and complaining about everything we did. Everything from having our 4 pound dog with us to having our golf cart there. He also rudely informed us that the campground was mainly used for construction workers who camp there by the week or month. In my opinion, they should state that on their website, instead of listing it as a peaceful, family campground. There was also a ditch full of stagnate water right behind our campsite. We will not return! - KellyF

The sites were level (due to traffic leaving our previous location we arrived around midnight). I was able to get into my spot and leveled on the 1st shot. We had 2 other people with us who had NEVER been camping before and they found all of the facilities to be clean and up to date. The entrance to the RV Park is about 500 feet past the entrance to the 4H Center. - ETCTA
Mar 2018 - $26.00
This park is old and run down and has a lot of long term construction workers staying here. The sites are gravel, un-level and right on top of each other. They have cable TV on the power pedestal, but you have to go to the office and rent a converter box. They have Wi-Fi but the signal is so weak that it won't do anything but hook up and unhook constantly. I never did get on line and had to use my minutes on my hotspot. Sewer pipe is sticking way too high out of the ground, hard to use with a small travel trailer that is low to the ground. The only reason I gave the park four stars is because of the location. If you need to be in Evansville, it is close to town. The lady in the office was nice and helpful. - Mark Ford
Jul 2017 - $1.00
I put 0 for the price because we couldn't find anyone to pay. I agree with review from last year. They need a camp host to better manage the place. Picnic tables need replacing. Beautiful fair grounds to walk and bike. - silverfox9

Nov 2016 - $30.00
As stated in other reviews there aren't many RV parks in the area so for the price this one is satisfactory. We stayed 1 month for $420. which included 522 kwh of elec, 30 amp. Campground info states they have WiFi at each site which is true, but the quality is questionable at best. We did get things done but patience is required. The sites are grass/dirt, roads gravel. The playground for the kids could have been awesome, lots of play statues, etc but the upkeep is non existent. In short if you are not expecting a lot this will work. - k m m
Aug 2016 - $40.00
There are not very many campgrounds/RV parks in this area close to I-64. We were travelling on a weekend and all the county and state parks in the area were full. This campground does not take reservations and is strictly first come first serve. It is an old campground that from the building construction may have been a KOA. The mini golf and play ground have seen better days. Most of the sites were grass, but some appeared to have a gravel base in the past. The grounds were clean and the grass mowed. The attendant was friendly and very helpful. The full hookup sites appeared to be fairly level side to side. Most of the water and electric sites were not. Many of the sites were too short for us to stay hooked up at 56' in length. Most of the full hookup sites were occupied by long term stays working in the area. Our water and electric site had a 30 amp RV receptacle but only a 25 amp breaker. The $40.00 a night was high for an overnight but did include what appeared to be a 10% lodging/sales tax tax. - trailertraveler

What a wonderful find! we came for a day and stayed a week. Nice staff, big wide sites, beautiful surroundings to include a fishing lake. We used it as a base to visit everything within an hours drive. From New Harmony to Evansville to Lincoln park. - User156
Sep 2007 - $25.00
For once, I agree completely with the previous reviewer. The information contained in this review is very accurate and I can only restate it. I add that we also stayed in one of the few pullthus in the park and it was a very long way to the restrooms. I suggest if you want a pull-through so you don't have to disconnect the tow vehicle, call ahead to reserve the site as they have very few of this type. The park is located in a very rural area (reclaimed coal mine), is quiet but located not too far from the interstate highway. Really, this is the kind of quiet park in a beautiful setting where we would enjoy staying for much more than the overnight stop that we did. Recommended. Big rigs will have no problem here. - busguy

Very quiet. The wagon wheels are difficult with a 32' trailer. I would try to get one of the full hookup pull thru sites, unless you have a shorter unit. Getting into the sites is very tight. They need to be larger in diameter. Everything is convenient for hooking up. Staff is very friendly and helpful. When coming into Boonville on hwy 61, don't turn onto Poplar. Its a very difficult turn onto a narrow street. I'd go through the town square and go straight onto another East bound street. Then turn left several streets down to get to Poplar. - chucky2
Oct 2016 - $25.00
Nice campground with a big fishing and swimming lake, playgrounds, shelter houses, four rental cottages and an enclosed pavilion available to rent.
The only negative about this park is that the sites are gravel and there's very little of it. The area around the campers are very loose dirt that tracks into the camper. It would have been much worse had it been rainy and turned to mud. - kc9mls
Aug 2016 - $20.00
A small, wooded, public park. My site was in the open. Some longer term guests were evident. Staff at the front desk were friendly. Flat gravel sites, I had to back into site #26 but thank heavens the site in front was open so I went in and back in straight. Good AT&T and Verizon signal, no wifi. - RVStudent

Great value for full 50 amp hookups! Sites are close together, but everyone has been very friendly. Park was filled on the weekend we were there (no holiday). There's a playground for kids and area is very well maintained, clean and quiet. Hiking trails are grown over but there are drives you can walk. Local police also patrol area. - Cajun Nana

This city run park is good for travelers on I-64. I had made an advance reservation and was booked for site 11. Arrived in early afternoon but no one was at check-in. Went directly to the site and set up. Nothing fancy about the park, good basic utilities. Took a walk around the campground and looked at the lake. The lake is a result of coal mining back in the 70's and stretches for miles. It looked clean and people catch fish. Good cell service and sites are open sunlight so had good satellite service. On exit the next morning the attendant was at the check-in booth so paid my camping fee on the way out. Will stay here again for the convenience to the interstate. - Nautilus

The park itself is beautiful and nice. However, we were there on Saturday night and a group down from us were LOUD until after 2 am. Nothing was said or done about this. We saw 2 people working the entire park and no one came around to check things until very early in the morning which woke everyone up. The toilets were dirty. The shower house was clean except after paying $25 for an electric site (all they offer), you would hope for a hot shower. Not the case. It was barely warm on the men and women's side. We were the only campers on Sunday night and Monday morning we still had the same cold water to shower in. This told us it wasn't a case of overuse, just a case of not having any hot water. If you pay this much, the least they could do is have decently hot water. Also, don't plan on eating in the town. We couldn't get waited on, and ended up driving to KT's Fire Grill in Wadesville for a nice dinner and really good service. - Happy Campers from IN
Jun 2015 - $30.00
Very nice state park. Not close to much except touristy town of New Harmony. Gas available within 6 miles, but groceries and other items you have to travel at least 20 miles. Nightly rate reflects $25.00 plus one half of $9.00 out of state entry fee. Roads well paved, sites clean and fairly spacious. Wabash river overflowing while we stayed there, but campground remained open. - JAYFLIGHTRV

Absolutely fantastic park. Generally big sites. Most are well shaded with a few in the sun. Big pool for $2 per person. Lots of trails. Very clean/well kept bathrooms and showers. Showers were plenty hot, too. We will camp here again, no doubt. - cwooz
