First, the good: The camp hosts get an A+ for hospitality. The location is very nice, with lots of tall trees and shade. It was easy to get to from the highway, but far enough away not to have to listen to highway traffic. Now, the bad: The site was horrible. It was overgrown with weeds and tall grass and not even close to level. The utilities were a mess. The electric box had some bare wires hanging out of it, and the host speculated it was because someone had cut off the 50 amp connection. I experienced several power blackouts for a few seconds at a time during my stay. The water connection was a filthy hose. I didn't use it. The sewer was buried under some tall grass, and fairly far to the front of the site, so I could not hook up to it unless I unhitched the truck. There was no WiFi and only a weak Verizon signal. Given the condition of the utilities and the park in general, the nightly rate is too high. The park is mostly permanent residents. One of the permanent residents' dogs was wandering around pooping on my site, which was especially concerning because the grass was so unkempt. I did not want to walk around on the site. Also, the dog would run up and yap at me if I exited the trailer, and its owners seemed unconcerned with that. I will not return to this park. - KAP99
Aug 2010 - $17.00
This is the second time we have stayed here. The sites are easy, grassy pull-throughs, and reasonably level. Each site has a picnic table, and a lot of shade. The owners are nice people- they prefer if you call 30 minutes before you arrive, so they can be there to meet you, but if you don't, you can just pick a site. The campground has quite a few permanent people, some mobile homes, some permanent trailers. There are no amenities, but we like staying here because its very convenient to Ball State University and the town of Muncie. - Soos
Jun 2009 - $18.00
The park is what the name implies, full of big, really big, oak trees. It is a very nice older park with very long gravel sites scattered among the big trees. Most are nearly level with one or two small shims to do the job. Owner/manager is very accommodating. Will stay again when passing through the area as it is only 4 miles off the interstate. - Bullrider

Plenty of open spots as we passed through Muncie, Indiana. You'll need to phone in / email paperwork if you plan on staying over the weekend as staff is only onsite during the weekdays (we visited off season). A Sheriff Department Substation exists on the Fairgrounds. Since Deputies travel in and out of the facility all day and night, one could not ask for better security. You'll want to enter though the South Entrance - off Wheeling. You'll see plenty of room to turn around if you decide not to stay. With friends in Muncie, we plan to return here numerous times in the future. - Todd and Heather

Aug 2018 - $34.00
Not what we expected for $34 a nite - very narrow gravel roads, no drives/concrete or even gravel for lots - parked on grass. When it rained (a lot) the area around the swimming pool (which is not finished though advertised as with a swimming pool) flooded, as well as the putt putt golf course. We had to walk outside barefoot to get ready to leave as our shoes would get very wet since the grass was saturated. I would not stay again for that amount of money (it was quiet there - since lots of permanent summer resident campers were not around). Staff was friendly. I've been to better for the same amount of money. Laundry was available but not close enough to walk to. - Tap5050

Jun 2017 - $19.00
The driveway in is a bit narrow so take it slow. This is a large campground with over 100 sites. There is lots to do, a fishing pond, swimming pond, putt-putt golf, playground, horseshoes and more. Roads are gravel and they grated them while we were there. We were in site 79, all grass and not very level, but wider than normal with a picnic table. Plenty long enough for our 37 foot RV with tow-dolly. We had water and 50 amp electric, no sewer. Camp is well kept and quiet. We stayed the night of June 20, 2017. WiFi was spotty our Verizon signal was strong. We paid $19.26 with our Passport America discount - BarrettsHappyTrails

Aug 2018 - $35.00
Stayed on a Thursday night, camp host was great, took me to select a site, and had a good selection. The grounds were well kept and clean, the pool was very nice! There was an area called the meadow, and it was beautiful, with a creek feeding into a river, very peaceful! I walked around and checked out the facility and amenities. My site had full hook up and everything worked well. Had a patio with a picnic table, and a fire ring, and firewood was available. Close to Gas City, Indiana. Had a great stay, will make a point of returning. - Bob Goodwin
Oct 2017 - $31.00
The gentlemen that checked me in and lead us to our spot in a golf cart was friendly. The park however, is in need of maintenance and attention. There are approximately 100 seasonal units in the park, some of which are quite old and in fairly bad shape. They have wifi and it is useable, but about what I've come to expect in most campgrounds. The worst problem is the horrific noise from Interstate 69 that is immediately adjacent to the campground. I could probably live with most of the shortcomings, but the noise would prevent me from staying again. One night was enough. - ppcpilot
Aug 2015 - $31.00
We stayed here only one night on our way back to Illinois. Pull through sites were a little tight and short. 30 amp service only, no problems with the power or water. The campground seemed to be mostly for full time people in trailers. The lady at the office was very nice and helpful showing us to our site. We stayed here in a 33' motorhome.. - Rwake901

May 2016 - $21.00
We stayed fairly close to comfort station, and found it a busy traffic site. Well shaded, and good water, trash removal, had picnic tables and campfires are allowed. Most sites are pretty well graveled and reasonably easy to level a camper. They have added water view cabins, and most of the park provides for easy fishing access, and water view.
Friendly staff, well security patrolled. Really need to improve the sewer dump station. It would really make it a better park, if they installed sewer connections and upgraded the restroom and shower facilities. - Jacobsen
Jul 2010 - $25.00
Stayed here due to the close proximity to the Muncie 70.3 race. Mostly seasonal campers. The daily RV sites have only a 30 amp outlet and water hookup. They are generally narrow, unlevel and scattered with trash. Can't figure why folks don't pick up after themselves because there are large trash cans every couple sites. The grass isn't mowed often. They have primitive tent site closer to the one bathroom/shower. Although the bathroom is old it was fairly clean. The staff is friendly and helpful although they allowed another RV to take the site I'd reserved because they were staying longer and they said our 40ft would fit on a site that was made for a 20ft. This isn't a place you would come to "camp" but if you're coming to race or boat/fish it fits the bill for an overnight or two. - cpahog

Jun 2018 - $30.00
Lots of standing water after rain. Gravel roads & sites. Recently installed sewer pipes now provide full h/u but the connection is rather high off ground ( so high that I chose to dump at a dump station at the exit rather than continually hold my rig's sewer hose up in order to accomplish emptying.). Many seasonal or permanent residents here with just a few travelers arriving. Swimming pool looked like it was the best feature of this CG. It is advertised as a resort, but it's not. No playground, no dog walk. Just a really sorry looking antique minutiae golf course that no one uses and a half court cement basketball area. The "lake" is a small pond with overgrown weeds at water line. I would pass this one by if coming through this area. There are better choices both north and south of here. - Dugster
Jun 2015 - $32.00
Road going into the park is very narrow with low branches (almost lost an antenna). The site was gravel/dirt/grass and somewhat unleveled. A lot of residents with old equipment. No sewer hookups on the pull-throughs. We will avoid this place in the future. - Michael47
Sep 2012 - $27.00
This is primarily a seasonal campground. They do provide over night spaces. Nice setting next to a small lake and across from a golf course. Showers were clean but dated and shower heads seemed to be clogged up due to bad water. Staff very friendly and helpful. Did not try Wi-Fi but was told it would only work next to office. - Tom Ponder

Sep 2010 - $25.00
I really enjoyed staying here. We tent camped for the Labor Day weekend. When we got to our site, there was an RV there, so the people moved it. We had no fire ring or picnic table, but management brought us those items within a reasonable amount of time. There were many activities from community wide garage sales, to Bingo, to a DJ at night. They also had food on site such as breakfast and chicken dinners. The restrooms were not very clean, but I feel it was more due to the campers messiness, than staff's lack of trying to keep clean. They were here often cleaning. The only "dislikes" I have in regards to this campground were that: 1. People weren't made to clean up after pets so there was danger of stepping in doggie doo quite often. 2. Campers had to pay to use the pool. I feel that if you are already paying $25.00 a night to camp, the pool should be included. It was only $1.50 but it is the principle. Overall, this campground was a lot of fun. The people were friendly, and there were always a lot of activities to keep all ages busy! I would definitely come here again. - Shelleystarr2753
Aug 2010 - $25.00
This campground is currently in transition, it has a new owner and they are slowing cleaning it up. This CG was allowed to become run down for years, new owners are trying. This CG is huge with 400 sites and almost of them have old trailers with porches and structures build around them. Many sites are 'for sale' as the new owners are forcing them out. The weekend camping sites are in a nice shaded area close to the bathroom. Water is from a well and has a slight sulfur smell, the hardest water I have ever used, even with a water filter. Lots of golf carts, lots of weekend party type crowd, and even a few beer bottles laying around. The bathroom has a sign to remind people to remove beer bottle from the bathrooms. Has a large swimming pool, several games of Bingo on the weekends, and playground for the kids. Has several lakes with reports of good fishing, catch and release. It's far from Paradise, and was a running joke with our group. If the owners clean up a few more run down trailers, warn you about the drinking water, it might return to being a Paradise. - damonbeals
Aug 2010 - $14.00
This park may not even be open now. When we left, the managers had quit and the owner never showed his face. The electric was okay, the sewer had exposed lines, the water is literally not potable and you are warned not to use it as it is loaded with sulfur. - Cyberdave-1

Sep 2018 - $47.00
Neat and clean park just minutes from I-69, lots are well maintained, all (I think) full hookups, some are grass sites and some are gravel and a few are concrete pads/patios (which we had). Nice and quiet park, as the 'tight ship' would seem to discourage the noisy, partying crowd. They escort you to your site, will deliver firewood to your site, and also pick up your trash in the mornings. There is a nice nature trail around the perimeter of the park, there's a fishing pond and sand beach and another 'frog pond', and the property is very large. All but one of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, which is the only reason we didn't rate the campground a '10'. Don't know if he was just having a bad day, but wasn't welcoming at all. Other than that, we had a great visit! - fastalker64
May 2018 - $41.00
This is now a KOA park, staff was very helpful, there are yellow shirts everywhere so getting help is not a problem. Each site appears to have a fire ring and they were being used on our visit, so some smoke is in the air. The sites go from only grass to concrete slabs, you can pay extra to get the better site, or spend a bit less and get the grass. The restrooms are older but very clean. Many activities for the kids if you have them with you. - weighit
Aug 2017 - $35.00
This was one of the nicest campgrounds we've ever been to. Upon arrival, you're escorted to your site by a staff member on a golf cart that helps you get into your spot and set up. We had a pull thru so we didn't need much help but it was very nice gesture. They have curbside garbage pickup and also sprayed for mosquitoes at night. Staff was always close by and made their presence without being a bother either. We went with another group so it worked out well that our sights faced each other but, had we been by ourselves, I'm not sure I would have liked the pull thru setup. They have a nice pond that has a beach and swimming area. The dock for fishing had very unlevel, cracked concrete slab that almost didn't feel safe to be on but this might be my only complaint with the campground. The first bathhouse I used was nothing more than an outhouse, no lights and very hot and smelly, but I found a much nicer cleaner one not far from there that I used the rest of the weekend without complaint. There is a huge grass area perfect for flying kites, riding bikes or walking your pets, that we enjoyed. There was plenty for kids to do such as a hayride and bouncy pad that was on during daylight hours. They did not allow the use of outdoor rugs so on a wet weekend I could see this being a muddy mess. We would return here and plan to in the future. - Kyle S

May 2018 - $30.00
I really want to love this campground - close to home, archeological site - but I can't. It's a little tired, a little dated, a little worn, a little noisy. Part of the problem is that the city of Anderson has grown up around the park. The campground abuts on Anderson Municipal Airport, so you will hear planes. It's close to railroad tracks and there are trains (and their horns) all night. The roads are tight and most campsites are at a right angle to road, rather than slanted for easier access. Despite what the official descriptions say, very few spots are level. (We had to level so much that our back wheels were off the ground in a site described as level.) There are random cars/pick-ups driving through the campground. On the good side, the staff and rangers are very nice and checked us in fast and there is a small campstore with bagged ice and ice cream. - Indybear
Apr 2018 - $32.00
This park has horribly tight roads and the sites are difficult to maneuver any size RV. Sites are close and straight very few angled ones. Very disappointing for the price charged. New electric boxes no water on site. Pathetic for the price. If we had a better choice in this area we would not be here. The state of Indiana should be ashamed to treat campers and tax payers this way. Good thing we do not have a tow vehicle because there is no place to park it. - Satuthom
Jul 2017 - $35.00
This park did not suit our needs. We are a senior couple traveling through, staying one night, towing a car. Check-in time on Sundays and holidays is 5:00 PM, which we did not know. So we waited in our coach over an hour in the hot sun waiting for our reserved site to become available. No pull through sites were available when we reserved a few weeks prior to arrival. So after unhitching the car and getting in our site 47 (in full sun), all we wanted was a shower and peace and quiet. The shower was awful. Cement floor, push a button inside the shower stall for 20 seconds of lukewarm water. No temperature or water pressure control. No place to put your soap or shampoo. Very low water pressure made rinsing my hair a long slow process. No exhaust fan in shower area. Very old building. That said, this would be great for families with little kids. Lots of children riding bikes and playing in the grassy area. - Breezy2011

Oct 2018 - $25.00
Visited mid October for a two day stop off. Camp is remote, quiet with a good boat launch into a no wake fishing lake. Wooded sites are primarily crushed rock, moderate spacing with water and 50 amp service. Water stations are shared between sites so a longer hose is recommended. Wooded lots have slight to moderate grade, several with direct lake access. There are also many level, full sun sites in grassy area. Bath house was freshly painted with even fresher spider webs that are not routinely removed. Otherwise functional. Several well maintained easy walking trails to wear out dogs and their owners. Our wooded site was frequently dropping hickory nuts on the roof for added excitement. Probably limited to this time of year. Overall a nice state park that we will return to for future leisurely stop offs. - Newfwagen
Sep 2018 - $24.00
Summit lake is a beautiful lake east of Indianapolis. After Labor Day, he beach is closed, and most people appear to be there for the fishing. The campground is divided into two loops. The first loop is open, sunny, and relatively flat. The second is in the trees. Some sites are more level than others. All the sites appear to have power. The pads are gravel, or at least there's a bit of gravel sprinkled into the grass in each site. When we stepped out of our motorhome, we stepped into ankle deep wet grass. There are "shared" water spigots around the campground. People with long, long hoses were hooked up. There wasn't a single site in a mostly empty campground where our 25' hose would have reached, so we used the water in our tank. The electric hookups were closer than the water, but so far back from our site that we ended up using our extension cord to get power. The bathrooms were basic, but get the job done. Cell service was fine. - AnnP
Sep 2016 - $25.00
1st time back in several years, returned due to upgrade of electric hookup to include 50amp. As with most Indiana State Parks, this park is well maintained. Service locations are acceptable, but 50 feet of water hose is needed for shared water faucet between sites. As full timers we carry 100 feet of hose at all times. Our site was easy to level on, others were uneven front to back. - Teacher's Pet
