7 RV Parks near Fair Oaks, Indiana
Aug 2019 - $55.00
We only stayed one night at CG as we were travelling home from the Dakotas. We had stayed here last year but under the old management. The price went up which we felt was now over priced. There weren't very many campers when we were there. Sites are close together. There is only wifi in the office, but there is OTA channels. CG is fairly close to the interstate. - kimandcindy
Oct 2018 - $1.00
We had been seasonal campers for 8 years at Oak Lake Family Campground. The owners had rules but the place was well kept, family orientated, very safe as they were always watching what was going on. Never had any problems that were not immediately dealt with. Then the new owners came in May of 2018. The place went downhill fast. No security, gate wide open, no one kept watch what was happening, several items were stolen, grass not mowed in places rest of the year, speeding in park, NO management in place that had any authority. In late September new seasonal and weekend rates came out just weeks before closing date. Ours went up $800 with no improvements. We could not take it, we spent two weeks dismantling a very nice Park Model, deck, steel awning, and beautiful landscaping to get out and moved it 70 miles. - KEWI
Aug 2018 - $47.00
We stayed one night each way going to and returning from Minnesota. The park served our purpose. Site was fairly level as we didn't unhitch since we were leaving early the next day. The office staff were very friendly. No wifi at the sites. Was able to pick up a few channels on satellite. Would stay here again if in the area. - kimandcindy

Our site was strewn with garbage to the point that it resembled an inner city vacant lot. One of the wooden beams from the fence around the site was scorched and sitting in the grass nearby. The closest bathroom, in the gameroom, was a mess, the toilet clogged and filthy, despite the presence of a young employee sitting a few feet away watching a DVD. The seasonal residents who appear to make up the overwhelming majority of the customers constantly ride by in golf carts. While I was sitting there pondering whether to spend a half-hour cleaning up the trash on the site, a cart loaded with about six unsupervised youths nearly crashed down the path right next to the site. At that point I had seen enough. One of the greatest joys of my just-finished vacation was putting this dump in my rear-view mirror. I only wish there had been a review on this site to steer me away beforehand. Consider yourself warned: This is not a good campground. - Family of four
Jul 2018 - $28.00
This was a nice, out of the way park for an overnight stay. The lady working the office was very nice and helpful. - RJ56
Jun 2015 - $23.00
We very much enjoy staying at Acorn Oaks, nice location just far away from civilization to be a true get away.
Well-kept park with nice electric and water service.
Very nice bath house and store.
We will be visiting very often. - RonGarrison
Jul 2019 - $46.00
We didn't venture all through the park, but what we saw in our area was nice. Great little camp store. Staff very nice. Nice pull through site. Sites are close, but no one was on either side. Only issue was the noise from the interstate - all night long. I knew when I made reservations it was located next to one, but I never dreamed it would be that busy. Being from a very rural area it made sleeping difficult. If you want firewood, make sure you get there before they close. - Travlin Mill3rs

I stayed for 5 weeks and paid ahead of stay, if not I would have left after 1st day. The highway noise is unbelievable, there are 3 truck stops at exit and engine brakes 24 hours a day. I picked Caboose lake because I have family in area but no one could stop by unless they paid 8.00 per person. This was the worst camping experience I have ever had! - Mark Sipe
Oct 2018 - $150.00
We stayed in a cabin at Caboose Lake when travelling to Indiana for the Purdue Ohio State game. Normally we would have brought our fifth wheel, but since this was a quick two day trip late in the season we elected to rent a cabin. Positives for the Campground: The staff was friendly and check-in was very easy. The cabin was clean and spacious and had a nice view of the lake. Overall I would stay here again in a cabin when returning. Negatives for the Camgpground: The roads were narrrow and were not well maintained (lots of potholes). The campground is right next to I-65 and had the worst road noise I have ever experienced. The sites are narrow and because of the way they are angled require a "u-turn" to enter them ... this turn would be very difficult to maneuver in a longer travel trailer or a fifth wheel. The sites are also narrow with multiple trees on them so would be difficult in a unit with slides. The campground has a storage lot in the back that is filled with junk (rusty trucks, worn out single wide mobile homes, a bunch of propane tanks that are well past their useful life). My wife and I concluded that the campground would not accommodate our fifth wheel due to size and concluded that while this was a good cabin campground it was not a good RV choice for larger units. - Greg and Kim
Jul 2019 - $38.00
Best sites are 1 thru 10 and are more level & longer than the higher number sites. FYI I spoke with a couple of other campers that were moved 3-4 times within the first 5 days upon arrival. We did not experience the problem as we spent just 1 night. Grocery stores and restaurants are plentiful in the area. For us it was convenient stop over on our way to the Chain O Lakes in Spring Grove IL. - Poe Dog
Jun 2019 - $38.00
If coming in from the North on US-41 do not allow your GPS to convince you to turn left on hwy 231 Veterans Memorial Hwy. There are two low clearances marked as 13 foot 6 inches. It is much easier to go a little further south on 41 and turn left on 133rd Ave instead. We used this campground due to its location close to friends we were visiting in the local area. The power and water pressure were good although we had to borrow more water hose from the host in order to reach the shared water access located on every other site. If you want to get in roof mounted dish service, try to get sites 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10. We were in site 29 and there was no way we were going to get the sat dish to come in. We would stay at this campground again if in the area. - D&K
Sep 2018 - $36.00
Ok for overnighter. Lake is a little walk from cg. Cg is pretty basic but surrounded by trees. - Bjb1775
Sep 2010 - $22.00
Very nice host - working from his home he was happy to show us to our site when we pulled in to camp at about 8 PM. This is an older camp, with a newer owner who is working to spruce up the campground with his wife and son. This is not resort camping. We enjoyed the mature trees and the campground was very quiet, as most of the campers are permanent with residents not staying in their trailers. I think only one other RV was stopping in for the night. The area has been hard-hit by the economy, so visitors are appreciated. - AluminumCloud
May 2009 - $22.00
This is a wonderful campground that is now under new management. The atmosphere is very friendly and fun for all. I have been going here for 10 years and it has improved greatly! There are activities for adults and kids at least once a month if not more. Everyone there is very friendly like family. The restrooms are clean and the office is nice for the kids if it starts to rain. They have a TV in the office and several games for the kids to play. I would recommend this site to anyone and have recommended to friends and family and once you come you will continue to come year after year! - Patricia V

We tent camped here over the Fourth of July week, and will return this year. Every year, we have camped at different campsites around Indiana, and this is the first that I would return to during a holiday. There was a wonderful playground for the smaller kids. Thrasher's Woods held a dance for the teenagers. They also have a wonderful stocked pond for the kids of all ages. Do not worry if you forgot to bring live bait, for Thrasher's woods sells night crawlers! The staff was very helpful, and very respectful. There was a little bit of noise at night, but the staff worked well to limit it to an acceptable murmur. The bathrooms could have used a little more upkeep, and the pool got overcrowded during the hottest parts of the day. Please keep in mind that this was over a long holiday week. I am very much looking forward to camping there this Fourth of July, and during non-holiday weeks this summer. - nicknick_78
