We've stayed here with the grandchildren a couple of times and a good place to walk, nice shade trees, friendly staff and close to things in Fort Wayne like the Zoo. A great place to kick back and enjoy your stay. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice little park very close to town. The price reflects a weekly rate. Lots of trees, our spot was shaded (#24) but there are some out in the open. Sites are gravel with a paved road. Bring extra water hose, the spigots are shared. Our spigot was 45 feet away. There is no sewer hookup, but you can get a pump out for $10. The bath, showers end laundry are clean. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed 7 weeks in Site 20 - great campground hosts, always ready to help; felt like family. Very good WiFi. Auto roof satellite worked, except for the last week lost a beam which we did not need. Many sites no satellite due to tree cover. Very popular - book early. Many sites share water hookup. Bring an extra water hose because some water points are more than 25 ft away. They sell good firewood. One small "group" area with tables and a fire pit. A great location convenient to everything. This will always be our choice for this area. Very prompt (daily) pump out service for $10. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Good food/drink locations: Bourbon Street (New Orleans, mid-pricey but great); Happy Gnome brewery; Hop River Brewery (outdoor seating for dogs); Baan Thai; Don Chava's Mexican; Don Hall's on East State St ; Nawa Asian downtown; Taj Mahal. Dog Boarding: Paws n Claws. Pricey, but great care and pampering options. Baseball: Fort Wayne Tincaps Class A; tickets start at $6.00. Only 10 years old and right in downtown.

We pulled in for one night and didn't use the restrooms. The site (26) was a handicap site next to a pole building. The utilities were conveniently placed with 30/50 amp and water hookup. Nothing stood out about the park but it was a decent place to stay with no road noise. It was easy to access from the main road. We would spend a night again. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Motorhome.

This is our go to place when in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. We are usually calling them while on the way and arranging for a site. It's easy to get to. The roads are blacktop but the sites are gravel. Our site was a little off level but I think it just happened to be the way I backed in. I didn't use the restrooms or shower but but they have always been clean and functional in the past. My wife and kids said this time was no exception. It's hard to believe where you really are when your there. There are numerous restaurants and shopping nearby. We will continue staying here when in the area. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice municipal park - quiet - among the trees. Most recent stay was June 12th 2018 ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV w/o toilet or shower, plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site, so our critique is focused in that area. We reserved site 41, but when we arrived it had been given out and campground was full. They gave us a shared pull thru site. A large motorhome was in ¾ and were behind it in the other ¼. We fit OK but had no picnic table and was still a little longer walk to the restroom/shower building than we wanted. We did have 30 amp and water hookup from shared location-our shore power and water hose was long enough to reach. All roadways are asphalt and compacted gravel pads in among lots of trees for shade and green grass. Overall, the sites are level and roomy with good green space between - you don't feel crowded. Restroom/shower building is near entrance and across the roadway. It was modern, roomy, with A/C for comfort, was well kept/clean and comfortable with updated fixtures. Shower stalls (2) were roomy with a bench and couple wall hooks and communal changing area also had a bench but no wall hooks. Communal sink area had countertop but no wall hooks for your towel or stuff, but did have paper towels so you could clean up the area after use. Overall a very nice experience for a municipal facility. Outside was the dump station - with easy access We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Travel Trailer.

As so many before excellent location we thought it was nice and quiet wish we could of stayed longer. Security code for restrooms and showers which have AC which the days we were there was so nice to have. Also has a laundry room attached to the shower house. The map they gave us shows only site 14 , But when we checked in they called it 14A. The next day what looked like a road another unit was there split the water and they plugged in the 50 amp on the same pedestal We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nicely wooded and well-kept by very helpful and attentive Camp Hosts. Stay 6 nights and get 1 free ($132 per week). No sewer but excellent pump-out service available for $10. No satellite most sites, but good OTA reception. We were on site 7 for 3 weeks (2 of 3 satellites so no "local channels") and then site 42 (full satellite until last day; maybe tree pr0blem). Many (not all) sites have fire pits; you can use one at an empty site for your S'Mores if you ask. Excellent walk/bike trail next to park and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. We will return! We camped here in a motorhome. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice little park in the middle of Fort Wayne. Right next to the Johnny Appleseed gravesite! Hosts were friendly and accommodating and keep the campgrounds in great shape. Sites are close to each other, but there is a lot of green space surrounding the campground. Saw some deer our first day there. No sewer, but they have a honey wagon if you need it. Lots of tall trees. We weren't able to get satellite TV at our site (14) because of them. But a number of sites had clear "sight lines" for Satellite. Nice little park in the city. Dog park nearby is for residents only. Electric/Water w/ On-site Dump. Only stayed here one night on our way south from Michigan. Good location and helpful camp attendants. We did not use any of the facilities, but they are locked for camper use only. The park was adequate for our overnight needs, and probably good for a longer stay. It was quiet and close to the city. Be aware that the dog park close by is for residents only. Your dog has to be registered with the county and a yearly fee paid to receive a key for entry. 4 bars Verizon LTE. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The sites are close together and you can hear traffic at times. No complaints, it's a good place to stop while traveling thru the area. Site 10 has no fire ring or picnic table, most other sites do have them. The hosts asked if we wanted them, not a problem for us since we only stayed 1 night. A very nice municipality: operated campground close to everything. Well kept, large shade trees and good sites. No sewer but a convenient dump station as you leave. Very helpful camp hosts and really clean bath houses.

Our only complaint was at least 3 campers had turned their campsite into a worksite: one a woodworking shop, one a machine building shop and the third re-furbing a work truck. Not exactly a quiet, relaxing environment. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here several times now. Park is easy to get to and once you are there it's hard to believe your in the middle of a city. Staff is friendly and we called ahead to make sure there would be a spot available when we arrived. We were given a list of sites to chose from and received the site I picked on the phone. Roads are asphalt but the sites are gravel. Ours was level and easy to get into and out of. Water and electricity only but they have pumping available or the dump station. Bathrooms were clean and had showers. Bathrooms are locked for use by registered campers only. Also laundry facility available but didn't need to use it. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. We have stayed here before and would definitely stay here again. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground gets high marks from most everyone and that now includes us. The park has lots of shady water/electric sites near the St. Joseph River. The strip of land between the campground and the River boasts a large dog park and playground and the street is busy with joggers, bicyclists, and others who come to enjoy the area. The campground has a very nice and clean shower house and laundry room which has a dump station beside it. For those who are staying longer there's a "honey wagon service" for a reasonable $10. The sites are a mixed bag - some that will only accommodate smaller rigs. You may want to bring an extra water hose along because many of the sites share a water spigot which is equally unhandy to everyone. Having said that, we could have fit into most of the sites. The one we were given was one of three sites that backs in directly off the city street. We camped at Johnny Appleseed Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is named in honor of John Chapman who was better known as Johnny Appleseed, the frontiersman, preacher, humanitarian, and nurseryman who introduced apple trees to this region of our nation. He lived his later years out in Fort Wayne and is buried near what is now a park and campground named in his honor.
