Oh my gosh... Pulling in, we wondered "What the heck are we doing?" But we're desperate for electric, as we had been boondocking in the heat for two weeks. It was 95* when we pulled in!! A lot of seasonal RVers. A lot. It appeared to be a "neighborhood" of RVs, Campers, etc... We arrived, hooked up, turned on the air and stayed indoors that first day. We were parked at the first pull through next to the grassy area. Very level. Plenty of room. There was water. But no sewer. We have a 36' Class A and were able to dump just fine. The next day we sat outside and there was a fish fry, which we didn't attend, but one of the seasonal campers bought over a plate. They were also doing a CornHole Tournament, and after talking to a few of the seasonals, we entered. What fun we had!!! The owners, Ron and Julie were a blast, and they and a few other people came over to our site afterwards and hung out. If you are an uppity, stuck up person, this place is not for you. If you like a neighborly feel, where you can interact with others, drink a cocktail around the fire, then it's perfect. - StephanieBekker

This park is rustic to the extreme. Office is a rundown mobile home, but it does have a new coat of paint. The lady who checked us in seemed very nice and greeted us with a big smile, showing all five of her teeth! It is a rather pretty park but reminds me of the setting for the movie "Deliverance." Looks to be many monthly fisherman sites and younger construction workers, from the look of the people about.
All infrastructure looks very old and well used. Power (pedestals) are mostly old and not well designed. Voltage did seem to be stable, at least for a small RV with a low BTU air conditioner. Picnic tables provided but are in very poor condition. Looks like it could be difficult to get out if it should rain very much.
We found the directions to the park very difficult to follow, and it was much farther from the highway than we were lead to believe. Since it was the only park we could locate in the area, we came anyway and for a 1 night stop. The value is probably good, but we would not be comfortable staying here for very long.
Nice enough people but just not our social set since we don't drink "Bud" in large volumes. - RV Camper1

After staying here and reading the previous reviews, I couldn't stop laughing. It is full of permanent trailers with parties on the weekends. Some of the trailers are older than me and I am in my 40's. People are mostly friendly and really enjoy the adult beverages. I do agree about the bathrooms and showers. They are so bad that none of us would shower there. The state parks have much better facilities. The dump station is not worth the effort and they only a few sites with sewer. The water was the worst. It actually stained our water lines, toilet and shower in our camper. Not a place I would choose to go back to at all. - TravelOBRN

Tuesday nite, one nite stay in October. Very quiet. It might be a lot different on a weekend or during the summer. Sites are large. Nice spacing. Well groomed area. Lots of nice mature trees. Would definitely return probably in the fall when it is quiet. - smitty12

We stayed a couple years ago on a weekend and it was like the other reviews. So this time we visited Wednesday $30.00 and Thursday $40.00 a night . Not sure why on a Thursday 10.00 dollars more. The facilities where in better shape and restrooms where clean. They replaced all the exterior restroom doors and put some fresh gravel on sites but it looked like most of the sites were on a hill. The reason for the visit was to see Grissom Museum - Steph and Jim

We came in on a Sunday eve and stayed until Thursday morn. We'd camped at this park years ago but came away very disappointed this time. The GOOD: The park grounds and camp sites were well groomed, mowed and clean. The BAD: Although DNR officers drive throughout the campground quite often daily they do not enforce any posted rule. The campground was pretty full Sunday night and golf carts (which are only to be driven by senior citizens) were all over the place being driven by youngsters. There were plenty of sites with more than one tent/one camper or two tents per site which is contrary to what the rule (in large print on a sign as you come into the campground) states. The UGLY: There are only a few hiking trails and each of them were totally grown over. The trail was lost because the foliage had closed them in. This is not a park to come relax and take a hike through natural surroundings. If you like disc golf or have a watercraft then the reservoir gives you something to do but otherwise this park lacks appeal. The beach was closed for our whole stay due to flooding but that had no bearing on this review. - cpahog

As others have said, it's a nice park, with concrete pads and grass between sites. Unusual to find FHU 50 amp sites right on a riverbank. The first site we were assigned (#91 backed up to "the pond) had branches hanging low over the site, and across the the road, where we needed to start our back in, as well. Not willing to scratch our paint or risk our A/C covers, we called the office, and they found another site for us (#37), backed up to the river. This site is a bit shorter, so we had to park our car on the grass. Watch for low hanging branches as you come through the park and over some sites. Some sites had deep puddles from the recent rains, but overall a well-organized and pleasant park. Good 50 amp power and water pressure. Power pedestal close to the front of the site, sewer in the back. Verizon LTE , but only 1-2 bars. We would return. Nearby Cicero looks looking me a nice town with multiple restaurants. Price includes a $1.00+2% service fee for credit card use. - JustUsOntheRoad

This is a county park located on the White River. It is a great transit stop if you are heading north or south along RT 31. We selected a full hookup, back-in site on the river on the front of the campground. Level, cement pads allowed us to stay hookup up. The campground is well designed and I didn't have any issue maneuvering our 32' trailer. It looks like a great location to use as a base to visit the Indianapolis area. - linnemj
Jun 2018 - $34.00
This is actually the nicest campground we have found in the Indianapolis area. It is located on the White River - which, unfortunately, was chocolate when we were there as the river was high and muddy. There's a lot to do. A nearby business rents canoes. They pick you up at the campground then you canoe back. There are miles of mixed-use hiking/biking/horseback riding trails. Koteewi park is just down the road where there is an aerial park and archery activities. For the most part, it was pretty quiet at least during the week. When you make the reservation, they take the deposit by credit card and charge a processing fee of about 1.5%. When you arrive at the campground, you have the option to pay for the remaining nights with cash or check to avoid another processing fee by using a credit card. This is a nonrefundable deposit. The interior roads are narrow and make for difficult maneuvering with larger RVs. There are also some very tight turns. To make matters more interesting, cars are parked in common grass areas which provide yet another obstacle to maneuver around. Trees could use some trimming as we got up close and personal with several attempting to get into our site. Many sites need a good trimming; however, some sites have no trees at all. The pad was level concrete, and wandering around the park we noticed they all varied in length and width. Our site was long enough for the MH and car by placing our rear tires at the very end of the pad. We hugged one side to avoid trees scraping the MH. There is a small strip of grass between sites and some have trees. There is presumably WII FI by the office but didn't use it. Verizon had 4g and 2 bars so we used out hot spot. We could not get satellite due to trees. We would return but with our list of which sites suit big rigs better. - Free

New owner is on site and overly anxious to help. Sites are nice and spacious. Views are tremendous. Roads are treacherous. - 4deepinanrv

First the positives: next to a river, close to a golf course and shopping. The negatives: Over priced for the facilities, poorly kept with long grass and very poor restrooms with very primitive showers. This camp is not very big rig friendly with limbs and power lines that should be higher. Get a firm price before accepting a spot. We were quoted $35 when we made our advance reservation. The price jumped up to $38 when we arrived. We mentioned membership to FMCA and Good Sam so he discounted down to $35! I like to feel like I can trust the camp ground owner to shoot straight. We will not stay here again. It's just to primitive. - Beech35p
Aug 2013 - $22.00
We loved this charming campground! The price was amazing, especially for a full hookup, and it was cleaner than the last state park we visited. The facilities are not modern, but are well-maintained. We camped less than 20 ft from the riverbank! Everyone was very friendly. We can't wait to go back and camp there again! - HomeIsWhereYouParkIt

We made reservations for a long weekend. We get to the office to ck in and there was no one there. A person in a trailer called & a female manager showed up. I don't even think they had us down & sure didn't have a spot reserved for us. We were there last fall & paid with a credit card. New rule you pay 3% extra if you use a card. I told her I wasn't about to pay their stupid 3%! She was very rude & told me she didn't make the rules! We had to go & find a spot on our own. Very poorly managed! Don't know why the owners don't get new managers! July 4th we got woke up with hearing the portal dump station coming around to clean out people's tanks. When we left there was no body at the office to ck out so we left. Also, another rude thing this manager said that it was a 3 day minimum for a holiday, I told her I had 4 days reserved. On the other hand they let 3 big R V's come on for one night! Not sure if we will ever go back there! They make it sound like such a wonderful place to camp, well it isn't! You get woke up by the train & they have a lot of seasonal campers taking up the good sites. Another thing their drives are horrible. A lot if pot holes! - Reeveston
Sep 2016 - $32.00
There were several bad reviews on the site about this campground. It was a holiday weekend & was told it was a 3 night minimal stay. There was a camper that stayed only one night. There was one site available along the river & it was wonderful! Really nice people next to us & the staff was great! Train was an issue and was very loud at times.
Would stay again. - Reeveston

Campground was beautiful. Showers and restrooms were clean. Staff was helpful. River view was beautiful. We stayed in a cabin and it was wonderful. We love camping at Tall Sycamore. - Happycamper2016
