We stayed here for four nights in the notorious "Coke Lot" in May 2016. It was our first time to the Indy 500 and we had a fabulous time! All the horror stories we had heard about this lot did not manifest for us in any way. But there are quite a few reasons our stay was so great. Here are the tips: Line up early on the first day to gain entrance (5-6am). This is THE most important thing to do to ensure you get a spot away from the all-night partying debauchery. Show your Handicapped placard if you have one (or plead to placed there) and you will get a prime space on the NorthEast side of the lot, which backs up to a small stream. There will be no campers behind you and the lot on the other side of the stream is only used for day parking on race day = nice and quiet! There is a road directly in front of you = no campers. In fact, the green space in front of us beyond the gravel road did not fill up with tent campers until the day before. Our area was lined with wonderful RV'ers whom were older (like us) and incredibly friendly. All of the craziness was on the other side of the lot, where mostly everyone was tent camping. The noise was never a problem, because of it being off in the distance. (Certainly fun to go for a walk at night, though!) We were a short walk to the track. As others have mentioned, no hookups whatsoever, but water trucks, pump out trucks and ice vendors readily available. The first two night were virtually calm, as most people really don't show up until Sat. Our experience was amazing and we now know why the Indy 500 is "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing"! We camped at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $88.00

When I decided to camp at IMS for the 2014 Indy 500, I could not find any information or reviews for their lots available with electric. All I could find was about the notorious "Coke" lot, which is first-come, first-served, no electricity and 4 nights of mayhem. So, I wanted to write this review in order that first time campers might have some insight into the camping options at IMS with electric. We stayed in lot 3P, which is a paved parking lot on 16th street directly across from the Speedway. When I arrived, we were greeted, then a staff member escorted us to a site and connected our electricity. Electricity was provided through onsite generators which ran 24 hours a day. Although this noise was constant, we get used to it and overall, ,the noise level was more than acceptable. We went to bed every night by 11:00 and had no trouble sleeping. For those who needed it, fresh water delivery was available and onsite sewage pump outs as well. This was not a luxury camping experience by any means, but our expectations were exceeded in terms of convenience and atmosphere. We walked to the track in a couple of minutes and enjoyed our neighbors without having to deal with out of control partying. Please understand, there was plenty of good times happening in this lot, but things stayed reasonable and ended each evening at a reasonable hour. We had a spot reserved and 24 hour staff onsite. It was a bit pricey, but worth every penny in terms of convenience. We camped at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Lot 4: Our home for the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. One of the only times a year we " rough it." No electric or water hookups, so conserve what's in the tank and make sure you have empty black/grey tanks because there are no dumpstations either. It sounds bad, but we love it! Bring your generator if you want air conditioning though. It gets pretty hot out here. We camped at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.
