There are 12 pull through sites and 41 lake sites. Lake sites are "back in sites" We thought sites 28, 29 and 30 were nice sites. If you have small kids, site 31 is next to the playground (however right by the lake). The lake is catch/release an they have paddle boats. This is a nice place to make a stop if you are passing through. Its very clean and the staff are very friendly. Although it is near a highway, surprisingly it's not too noisy. - 3 dog night
Aug 2019 - $19.00
I stayed here over the summer and have to say the staff could not do a better job. My only complaint is the freeway noise and the WI-FI needs improvement. - AZ Jeanne
Jul 2019 - $43.00
This is our fourth time staying here over the last several years and with each stay the campground keeps improving. Just recently they resurfaced the main inner roads and they look and ride great. Very friendly staff. Very clean restrooms/showers. A little out of the way off the Interstate but all things considered it's worth it. Will continue to stay here again on our north/south/north trips. - OSUbob
Jun 2019 - $34.00
Very fun place. Easy pull thru spots, super long, picnic table and fire ring at each site, large yards, FHU 50amp. We paid $235 for the week. Nice pool, pond full of fish, fun activities for kids on the weekends. - R-Gill513
May 2019 - $40.00
Here for a rally nice campground great staff. nice long pull thru site. Campground is 2 sections one in the woods and one down by the river, wide open no shade but lots of room. The directions I had brought me to a 6 ton limit bridge which of course we are WAY over that, had plenty of room to turn around and go a different way, poorly marked bridge until your almost at the bridge, not the campgrounds fault but just warning folks. We tow with a class * tractor with a 21,000lb 5th wheel so we are well over the bridge limit. - DBLR

There are two sections of this campground, one is on the Ohio River and the other is closer to state route 56 (maybe 3/4 of a mile away). The sites near the office are surrounded by apartments. We stayed on the lower level near the river in site 133. It was very quiet and peaceful. There are no trees/shade on lower level but nice sized sites. There were quite a few seasonal campers in the lower level, some nice some I wouldn't want to be around if they were going down the highway. When we arrived we were in a hurry to set up before a huge storm moved in. Got camper level, slides out, Wheels chocked and that's when we realized we had no power at our post. Had enough extension cord to confirm we had power at the site next to ours. Call the office and 40 minutes later two guys arrived in a golf cart with no tools or anything. While we were waiting for them my dog actually sniffed near the post and yelped. Walked over to see what happened and found the clamp on ground rod loose as could be. I'm assuming he got a small shock from touching it. Showed the workers the clamp but they didn't have any to replace it. Their solution was to just leave my camper plugged into the neighbors post and did offer an extension cord. Luckily our neighbors were friends of ours and they didn't mind. I also pointed out the sewer pipe in ground was broken and had no threads to hook onto and picnic table legs were broken. They mentioned they were slowing replacing all of them as most had been hit by the lawn mowers. This campground has so much potential but needs some tlc. On a plus side they're was fresh gravel on the driveway but the lots could use some as most of our site was all grass with patches of gravel. We weren't offered a different site or any type of refund for our troubles. I would return in the future but would be sure to check for power before unhooking from tow vehicle. - Kyle S
Sep 2019 - $30.00
Would have given it 5 starts except the WIFI and showers. This is a great campground, and we'll be back for sure. Pros: Cheap, very nice facilities. Full hookup and the best cable TV I've experienced. 80 High Def Channels, that rocked. Bathrooms were very nice, clean. Lots to do with the Casino right across the street. Very nice sits, concrete pads with some grass. They picked up your trash each day which was nice. Cons: WIFI was extremely slow almost unusable. Showers were luck warm, turn up the water heater. AT&T and Verizon both were poor. We saw Rob Schneider Saturday night at the Casino, great show. We also saw Sugar Ray Sunday night, and that rocked. What a great show. Can't wait to go back, one of our best camping trips ever! - Jeff Hedges
Aug 2019 - $29.00
Excellent park in every way except checkin process and wifi. We really enjoyed our stay. We are no gamblers so no comments about that. Check in signs and directions took us a while to figure out but ended up checking in at the main casino. Ignore the signs and do that but if you have a big rig, find an open spot and walk or see if the reservation desk will allow you to park in your spot and get a shuttle. Wifi was sketchy at beat me cell worked better without it. Laundry and bathrooms were excellent $1.50 each appliance. Change machine for $1,5,10,20. Concrete pads but only a few pull throughs; we had to back in. The site map is on the website and helps finding the lots. - DeanaB
Aug 2019 - $17.00
Enjoyed our stay for 4 days at this park. Took the free ferry across the river to visit the Ark. A nice drive through the countryside. Free breakfast at the casino was good. The last day breakfast was moved and the really good muffins no longer available. Only negative is that they need to clean up the trash in the parking lot. - ranchhand
Sep 2018 - $27.00
Miami Whitewater Forest Campground is located in the largest park in the county park system. The campground is clean and the new shower/restroom facility was also clean. The park is great and there are plenty of things to do outside the campground. While there, the campground was completely full. I camped in a tent, but agree that the campground is not the best for large campers and motor homes. The spaces are small and packed close together and many are hilly. My main complaint was what was already stated in a previous review. The campsites were all overloaded. 2-4 campers or tents per site with large groups staying in them in addition to having "visitors" come by in the evening. Both Friday and Saturday night, the campground did not quiet down until after 1 am. Saturday I walked by one site that had at least 30 chairs with adults in them and a hoard of children as well. Bright lights, loud music and loud conversation. Not peaceful, not quiet. - Willajean112
Jun 2017 - $35.00
Getting to this park requires good advanced mapping and intuition; there could be more directional signage. This park is not suitable for long 5th wheels and motor homes. The park map does not show the steep grades and very tight curves with large trees close to the narrow one-way road. Very few sites are level. Bring plenty of blocks. It was very difficult to back into my site due to the trees and the location of the electric post. Plan to drive your rig to the water station to tank up before backing in and setting up. Heavily wooded. Only electric hook-up. Camping is a long way from the rest of the park which has no place for swimming. The bath house is new, very clean and free. - Osita5
Jul 2016 - $27.00
The campground is in a nice park facility with a great play area for the kids located down by the lake. It is not real close to the campground though.
We also had to purchase an annual county park pass to be able to get in ($10.00).
The reason for the average rating is very few of the sites are level. Many of them are slanting downhill so it is hard to get level.
They could use a little better signage directing those who do not live here to the campground and check in. We drove past it the first time and had to call to find out where to go.
Also, even though they have a maximum camper limit of 6 people and two tents (or one camper unit and one tent) per site there were several that had many more than that, one having at least 18 people in it and one with 4 tents.
Their dump station is also located on a hill making it hard to get completely empty.
It is a very busy park on the weekends with lots of tent campers - 3 to 6 tents per site.
I would recommend this campground in certain areas only and during the week if possible. - prstlkid
Oct 2019 - $25.00
Older State Park with 30-amp electric and short, unlevel sites. We didn't see any site in this park that was level. All sites were very short. There was gravel parking next to the camper though. AT&T and Verizon were spotty, we did get satellite. They have a laundry which was handy and only $1.25 for wash and $1.00 for dry. Lots of hiking trails. No sewer, but a dump station that was also very short. Very convenient location for visiting the Ark and Creation museums. - jacknpeg
Jul 2019 - $30.00
A very nice state park with even a swimming pool ! Close and accessible to seeing the ARK and Corvette Museum Staff, was very nice. The only downfall was that the access road to get there was too winding. - Linda3515
Jul 2019 - $35.00
A very nice State Park, with a good pool, small herd of Buffalo and a small museum. I'm here for the NASCAR race so the location is excellent. Sites in my section are no level -- two wheels are off the ground and front is considerably higher than the back. 30 amp power with my adapter is a challenge, outlet is loose so the cord wants to fall out. All that said, this is a real gem. Wonderful trails, the park people are all very helpful and I'd stay here again in a heart beat. - BWolfAR
Oct 2016 - $35.00
Called ahead and asked for a place by the pool and under some tree coverage and verified there was wifi access.I was assured we would receive all three amenities. We asked the person who met us if we indeed were parked under shade trees and were again told we were. We get to our spot which was right by the pool but there were no shade trees. I mean we could SEE them from where we were parked but none near us.The pool was completely unsuitable for all but the frogs that called it home with 10 inches of water.Major maintenance is required to get this thing usable. Falling apart and concrete missing, metal thrown in like it's being used for garbage.
We felt deceived but had already paid. After a couple weeks of some very strange traffic I called into the Sheriff's department when the Deputy on duty advised me he would probably not stay there with his family. We witnessed underage drinking as well as numerous other sketchy activities. I never felt personally threatened, but would advise caution for travelers with kids.
We tried the little restaurant and was not surprised to find the food was unremarkable-at best-but the service was awful. The woman seemed annoyed that we actually ordered off the menu rather than using the buffet.
The owner while seemingly nice lied to us regarding the 3 major things we requested over the phone. She informed me we had access to wifi but when we got there she would not relinquish the pw to us claiming she did not know it and the server at the restaurant told us nobody ever gets it.
I had a difficult time contacting the owner when calling (which really should have been my first clue)-I kept getting the "restaurant" and the owner was the only person who would discuss sites but was never around.
I would not go back as things are. This was clearly a very nice place at one point. If someone were to take some care and renovate the park and pool, maybe add a little security..I would consider giving it another shot.Until then-Beware. - Hart_Serenity
Jul 2005 - $22.00
Need better direction signs inside the park. Had to ask 2 different people directions to office. Last one led me to location in his golf cart. Interior roads are gravel. Very friendly staff. Passing through and will stay here again if in the area. They have a restaurant on the premises. - RockenL
Aug 2019 - $59.00
When we checked in for our prepaid FHU site we were told that due to the first come first serve policy all that was available was an electric and water only site in Phase 2. No wifi, no sewer, 30 amp. Site was very unlevel gravel. Utilities are ancient. Pool and bathrooms in a different area. Staff attitude is "too bad, we're busy, and we're full of folks with reservations." Never mind our prepaid reservation. Never again. - Craig47
Sep 2018 - $40.00
This is thousand trails/koa?? Stayed in koa section that was kind of swampy but close to a fishing lake. Nice pool and playground. Thousand trail section is large with many permanents and golf carts cruising everywhere. - Bjb1775
Jun 2016 - $38.00
The main staff is the only reason this review is as high as it is. The campsite itself was clean, our pull-through site was huge, and the staff was very kind and helpful. My low review, however, is specifically to the pool staff. We were swimming in the late afternoon, and there was a good sized staff of lifeguards of 4 or 5. They must've had friends swimming, because, despite all the guard towers, they all sat in pool chairs on the same side of the pool chatting with each other, their friends in the pool, and taking pictures with their phones. Yes, at least 2 of them had their phones out, taking selfies!
We only stayed there for the night, but the place had a good friendly vibe to it. I'm not sure if we'd stay there again, but I would warn, not necessarily discourage, people from staying there. - JKBuzenby
Oct 2019 - $1.00
We stayed through the Thousand Trails membership, park was well maintained. The staff was very helpful, and friendly. Our particular site had others nearby, but not intrusive. Weather was good so we did not need the shade. Many amenities, we will stay here again. - Mommaburk
May 2019 - $1.00
Very nice Thousand Trails/KOA combination. Well maintained gravel pull thru and back in 330/50 amp level sites. Store, kids activities, pool, fishing lakes (no license needed), lodges. Right off I-70 and HUGE! Many permanents but plenty more sites available. Would definitely stay here again. - teepee51
Sep 2018 - $1.00
We stayed in the Thousand Trails Phase 2 section of the joint campground. We had heard that they had made a lot of improvements over the past year and they have...to the new phase 5 section. The KOA and Phase 2 section (which are very close together) the sites were lacking upkeep. A lot of swampy areas and tall grass. Our site had not been cleaned and there was a small amount of garbage we cleaned up. Our fire ring (basically paving stones stacked up) was in disrepair and unusable. We also had a very small concrete patio with a rusty grill (filled with garbage) and no picnic table. We also only could get a water/electric only site due to the number of campers. The electric service wasn't that great but the water pressure was good. Our site was surprisingly level and stable for for our travel trailer and truck. The pool is very nice and large and well kept; the main playground is large and offered a lot of different activities for our two elementary children. There are a few other small playgrounds throughout the campground that seemed to be in good shape as well. The common areas were mowed and the trees looked to be in good shape though most open sites are in direct sun with the seasonal/permanent sites in the shaded areas. The staff were very pleasant at the ranger station and camp store but we didn't see any regularly going throughout the campground. Being a holiday weekend, the place was filled to capacity but there seemed to be enough convenient garbage bins to handle the crowd. - CinciSam
Oct 2019 - $35.00
What a great state park. Wide sites, but only 30 amp electric. For a weekend it is wonderful. Warning, do not try to drive the loop road around Loop A. We came within 1 inch on each side of our 40' 5th wheel of destroying the sides on trees. We originally tried to get into site 83. Didn't even get down the side road to it because of hanging branches. And when we tried to get back to the front of the loop, it was a nightmare. Ended up in #15, which was fine. Next time I will try Loop B. I love that all roads and sites are asphalt. - User2989
Aug 2019 - $33.00
This park is just OK... nothing special. You pay an entry fee just to get in the park. The bath house was convenient, but needs some updating. As usual, no hooks in the bath house, or shower mats/benches in the showers. - Dennis D
May 2019 - $25.00
Our site didn't easily accomadate our camper & truck AT ALL! It took awhile to get a hold of anybody by phone & when we did, she said someone be there right away. An hour later he showed up! It was storming, so when he showed up we were parked! Roads were EXTREMELY TIGHT to maneuver. It took fellow campers to help us get out the day we left. - dallas 66
Aug 2019 - $31.00
Thankfully we only stayed here one night on our way home from MI. I don't know how I missed the fact that there was no sewer, so we were a bit surprised when there wasn't any. Without sewer, I felt the price quite pricey. The electric worked ok but some of the wiring looked a little unsafe. We didn't use the cable. The wifi worked quite well The lady who I assume was also the owner was very nice. The road in and out was pretty tight. All in all, it wasn't a bad place to stay for a night, but not a place I would want to stay for any longer than that. - MrsSqrl
May 2019 - $36.00
Stopped here for 3 nights to see some sites in the area. Completely missed the fact that there are no sewer hookups. My bad. There are many seasonal or long term stayers with that lived in look that detracts from the appearance of the park. The water and electric in our pull through site was solid. The roads inside the park are a bit tight for a big rig. You check-in at the office then drive to a 180 degree circle turn around to go right back from whence you came..... doable but tight, especially if you are towing. Pull through sites are plenty long enough but a bit lacking in width. You will get to know your neighbors. I know they cant control the weather, but the place is near a creek and there is evidence of continued water problems throughout the park. Lots of soft, muddy areas near the sites and roads that make it difficult to avoid even when walking. Not a terrible stop, but for the price, I expected better. - Pjoe
Jun 2018 - $36.00
Online reviews of this park were really good, so I was glad she could fit us in for the weekend. When we arrived we had to pull up to the office to register and there is really no parking lot. Our site was behind us on the narrow road so we had to take their turnaround circle which is a little tight for a 42 ft fifth wheel. When we got to the site we found for that price we had no sewer hookups so if we wanted to dump we would have to go through the turnaround again! Music was going late into the night Saturday, til about midnight. Sites were tight, very close together, so close that when someone pulled in next to us it killed our dish TV. No room to swing a big rig when park is full, which it was both nights we were there. We were thinking we were going to have to try to back out, but found out our neighbors on both sides are also pulling out tomorrow. Also the site was just long enough for our RV and we had to park our truck on a lot about 150 feet away. They had cable but only 9 channels, most local so we weren't at all interested. People were very nice and considerate and the great thing is the Ark Encounter is only 19 miles away! Many full timers back in the park but they save the front for those of us who come and go. This place is surrounded by woods and many sites back up to the creek so that's nice. - overogal
