Aug 2018 - $32.00
Would give a 5 but no WIFI available. Campsite was very large and grassy. Shower house had push buttons on the water faucets, but they were clean and convenient. Water could have been warmer. Very quiet. Park was nice. - Happy Campers from IN
Sep 2017 - $30.00
Very nice state park campground. Spacious sites with gravel pads. Asphalt interior roads so nice for riding bikes. Electric only sites which is pretty typical for Indiana State Parks. Stayed for 3 nights during Madison's annual Chautauqua, which is a very nice arts and crafts festival. Several nice hiking trails within the park. Our site was very level, but not so true for some of the other sites. - Daryn
Jun 2017 - $30.00
We arrived on a Sunday for a two night stay and had to pay $9.00 entrance fee after we paid about $30.00 a night on reserveamerica.com. The park is beautiful but were informed that the waterfalls weren't running since they need rain. Our site was level but next to a dumpster. We were also informed that we needed to fill our tanks with water since no water is at our site. The restroom/showers were very outdated, buggy, moldy and dirty. The showers and sinks had a system were you had to continually hit the button for water to come out. Shower had no hot or cold options. We rode our bikes to pool area and sign stated $3.00 per person. This park really nickels and dimes you everywhere. We liked the wildlife and enjoyed the fire flies in the evening. - JESUSisLovefl
May 2019 - $40.00
The campground's most redeeming quality is its location which has an excellent view of the Ohio River. Unfortunately, the park is under funded and its shower house/restroom are literally falling apart, most of the site pads are not level. The city recognizes that the view has value since they have raised the fee from $25 last year to $40 this year. - Dan Hughes
Jul 2018 - $30.00
Very pleased with this city campground. The view of the Ohio River and bridge is outstanding - CG is just a few yards from the river. Head-first motorhome parking is permitted so you can see the river out your windshield. The sites are a bit close together, but parking is angled so adjacent rigs won't spoil your view. Paved pads are narrow and there's a slim margin of grass between, but the back side (river side) is wide open. You may need to double up power cords or water hoses to reach the pedestal depending on how you park. Night time lighting is subdued - not harsh as other reviews have complained. The CG is located on the east side of the bridge on a quiet residential street. A short walk beyond the bridge will pick up the lovely paved river walk, part of Madison's park system. Downtown is a few short blocks away, easy to walk or bike. Golf cart rentals are available at the marina at the far west end of Vaughn Drive, but it would be a hefty hike to get there. Really enjoyed this city park for its river location and proximity to downtown. It's not a luxury resort, but it's more than adequate for a couple of days to tour Madison. - Flying Mantis
Aug 2017 - $30.00
This park is located in a closer area to all the attractions that are available to see in town. We were able to have WiFi, which made it easy to help navigate town. We paid a $5 deposit for a restroom key, which I did not mind as it kept transients out, it was refundable. We were told that showers were nothing to write home about at the start. They were acceptable for showering. We have a class A and were told we could either pull in or back in depending if we wanted the view or not. Would return to this campground as the view is worth the price. - gypsy561
Jun 2019 - $35.00
Great RV Park. Big rig friendly. Clean and well maintained. Checked in/out over the phone! We stayed 2 nights in a 38' 5th wheel. We did not use the bath house or laundry facilities. Nice walking/bike path from CG by the river all the way into town. - Hornbuckle
May 2019 - $30.00
I guess it was the time of the year, but it was very quiet. It is a municipal park, so there are some joggers/walkers on the walking trails on the periphery. At night there were no problems. The sites are long and wide and level. The sites are concrete while the roads are asphalt. Plenty of grass with new trees. The utilities are in the middle of the site. Good for fifth wheels and not for our motorhome. But it worked ok. Sewer is too far off the ground with no threads, but that’s the only fault I have against this place. On site management if you need something. If traveling through the area again, we’ll be back. - ETX
Jun 2018 - $32.00
A little difficult to locate, but getting in park and site was no problem. Blacktop streets with concrete pads. Full Hookup, no cable, no local stations. Was not able to get WiFi to work. Campground very large and clean. Driving from interstate 6 miles, but was not a problem. We reserve over the phone, reservation made, no check-in required. We camped here in a 42 ft Motor Home. Site was large enough and patio tables were like new! - Guidry's
Mar 2019 - $20.00
Some sites not level. Beautiful area. Only stayed one night. I would recommend this campground. - FrankVeronica
Aug 2018 - $39.00
We are in a 40' motorhome and, with our tow vehicle dropped, we could not make the turns at the ends of the loops without some back and forth. Water hook-ups are a bit far from the pad but provided excellent water pressure and nice tasting water. No cap on our sewer hook-up. Several sites that would work, but many sites too short and unlevel. Roads and site surfaces in good condition, large parking lots near park entrance were an easy place to drop our tow vehicle. - SilverBus
Jun 2018 - $34.00
Camp site loops are not adequately marked with warnings for big rigs. We were in a 35' and were almost stuck navigating a loop. Satellite reception was good at site 65. Dump station was convenient. We didn't use the WiFi so can't comment. - lovingthervlife
May 2015 - $30.00
We've stayed here numerous times, and have never had an issue. Most sites are level and easy to get in to. Plenty of hiking, fishing and boating for the family. Plus, the beach has an area for swimming in the lake.
Electric only, so make sure your water pump is working properly! - Griffin226
Apr 2014 - $20.00
On a positive note the lake is beautiful and the playgrounds are nice. However camp host did not keep dog on leash and it came barking and growling at my 3 year old. We had to pack up and move campsites because the 2nd day 4 families showed up and set up 5 tents in the same campsite beside us. There was no peace. The bath houses are old and need updated badly. The girl at the front gate was very courteous and the DNR officer that gave us a trail map was great, and very helpful. Probably will not return as there are too many other state parks in Indiana that are much nicer. - patch2361
Sep 2011 - $23.00
Our first stay here and will definitely return. Very large sites, most if not all of the sites are level with some shade. Lots of water faucets around the campground for fresh water. Several nice trails on the property, large lake w/ boat rentals, playgrounds and on-site naturist providing fun activities for the kids. There is also a raptor rehabilitation center on-site that is open to the public. - zenasboy
Sep 2017 - $28.00
This is a nice little park in southern Indiana. There are only about 8 sites that can accommodate large rigs. But they are relatively spacious and nice with full hookups. The smaller sites are in the woods, and are also very nice for small to mid-sized trailers and tents. Almost no one was staying there the Sunday night we stayed. That made it very private. Bathrooms were dirty and we didn't use the showers because of it.
Park staff are only available Mon-Thurs. But we were able to book the site the next day by asking for a call-back on their voicemail. The campground and park access road is a little narrow and curvy for large rigs. So we disconnected and drove the car ahead to watch for traffic - maybe not totally necessary. - EVO_Bob
Sep 2017 - $32.00
While $32 is an excessive amount of money, the rv sites were very close and the restrooms were very dirty. It is handy and just off Rt 50 for an overnight, but not good for much more. Access road coming down to CG is narrow and twisting. Even though the CG is posted as a "fee"area and not accessible to the general public, there was a lot of traffic, both foot and vehicular, through the CG area that did not appear to have a reason for being there. I would be hesitate to park and leave my unit there unattended although several people appeared to do so. - hartk
May 2017 - $15.00
This is a County Park with only the first 8 sites as FHU pull thru's. The entire park has only 30 amp service & the rest of the sites after #8 are water/electric only. The park office & manager are not always open. Manager can be somewhere in the park at any given time. There is a camp host at site #9 but, if you're a first timer (like we were), you won't know this. We were lucky as we were just pulling into the parking lot, the camp host was just driving out, there was no one in the office. He escorted us to the entrance & campground. Also, DO NOT enter the park from State Route 7. The roadway from there into the camping area is very steep, narrow & winding. Enter from S. Gumm Street (residential), follow signs to the campground & site #9 to find the camp host (if you don't already know your site number). Once set up, you will find a very quiet, serine campground that is very well maintained. There is lots of playground space but, no pool or close swimming opportunities. Sprint cell service is "OK" and OTA Tv is available from the Louisville, Ky area & satellite reception is easy from the first 8 sites, the rest are in the woods. - rracer5
Jun 2019 - $20.00
I was hesitant about staying here after the only other review was very negative. I found some reviews on other sites that changed my mind since it was just for an overnight. It is owned/ran by an elderly couple that seemed very honest and hardworking. There had been a lot of rain lately and they wanted to be sure that my 45 would not make ruts or get muddy. The wife and a permanent resident took their time to lay large squares of plywood for turning into the site under my back wheels. They also where there first thing in the morning to use them on my exit. Great service! Is is mostly permanent residence but very clean and friendly. $20 cash only for payment. Very convenient to interstate. - WayBro
Mar 2018 - $25.00
Everyone should avoid this campsite unless you are in dire need of rest. When you first pull up and are in front of the office there is this large mass of wood and trash that surround the stop sign. I thought that was a little strange. After getting past that, I walking into the office/laundry room which was filled with filthy junk. Upon waiting for one of the owners, outside I noticed sticks and bleach bottles hung everywhere inside and around the traffic cones that line the small roadway's inside the campground. I made the comment to my husband that it looked like something from the Blair Witch movies. The reason for the one star stems from the woman that owns the place. She is extremely rude and has no knowledge of how to help or talk to people. Our rig is 40ft. While the lots are fairly sizable, getting to them can be a little tricky. The awful lady owner that supposedly "helped" us had no idea how to guide us into the site. She had us going around the the drive (which is quite narrow) to get us into the spot she chose for us, all the while yelling at us in a very mean tone about what to do. I told my husband we could have done a better job if she'd would have just stayed out of it. I was so annoyed at the lady owner, I was asking my husband to just leave. Then the man that owns/runs the place showed up. He got us safely into the space. If it wasn't for that/him we would have left. I was so upset about how the lady owner treated us that I couldn't wait to leave this campground. I will say that once we were parked and setup, the grounds were okay. Nice shade trees and picnic tables. Even with the few things that we thought were amiable, they are not enough to compel us to ever go back again!! - BB31
Oct 2016 - $35.00
Called ahead and asked for a place by the pool and under some tree coverage and verified there was wifi access.I was assured we would receive all three amenities. We asked the person who met us if we indeed were parked under shade trees and were again told we were. We get to our spot which was right by the pool but there were no shade trees. I mean we could SEE them from where we were parked but none near us.The pool was completely unsuitable for all but the frogs that called it home with 10 inches of water.Major maintenance is required to get this thing usable. Falling apart and concrete missing, metal thrown in like it's being used for garbage.
We felt deceived but had already paid. After a couple weeks of some very strange traffic I called into the Sheriff's department when the Deputy on duty advised me he would probably not stay there with his family. We witnessed underage drinking as well as numerous other sketchy activities. I never felt personally threatened, but would advise caution for travelers with kids.
We tried the little restaurant and was not surprised to find the food was unremarkable-at best-but the service was awful. The woman seemed annoyed that we actually ordered off the menu rather than using the buffet.
The owner while seemingly nice lied to us regarding the 3 major things we requested over the phone. She informed me we had access to wifi but when we got there she would not relinquish the pw to us claiming she did not know it and the server at the restaurant told us nobody ever gets it.
I had a difficult time contacting the owner when calling (which really should have been my first clue)-I kept getting the "restaurant" and the owner was the only person who would discuss sites but was never around.
I would not go back as things are. This was clearly a very nice place at one point. If someone were to take some care and renovate the park and pool, maybe add a little security..I would consider giving it another shot.Until then-Beware. - Hart_Serenity
Jul 2005 - $22.00
Need better direction signs inside the park. Had to ask 2 different people directions to office. Last one led me to location in his golf cart. Interior roads are gravel. Very friendly staff. Passing through and will stay here again if in the area. They have a restaurant on the premises. - RockenL
Jun 2019 - $46.00
A great park to stay at to relax and enjoy the quiet countryside. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The sites are level and large and the streets are paved. There is some shade but the trees are not mature. There is a large clubhouse with some games and a pool table. The pool is heated and was always busy on the weekend. The only drawback to the campground was poor internet when the park was full and there is no AT&T service (Verizon was fine). - rockfarmer
May 2019 - $47.00
Very nice park with great office staff. Stayed for 8 nights over Memorial day weekend and met some really nice people. No cable, few air channels, most sites ok for satellite. Level site and lots off area for the dog to run. Will stay here again. - Lostinfla
Apr 2019 - $43.00
The park is very clean with cement parking, fire ring, picnic table. Our row had a tree on every site. We were very level in the pull through section. There are pull through and back in sites and an are of just grass and an are of all gravel under construction. The utilities worked great. The WiFi was good. Our phones had little to no cell reception. The paved walking path was a muddy mess. Perhaps because the rain was so heavy in the area. We laughed at how slippery the path was. It was memorable. - OldWrench
May 2019 - $25.00
Our site didn't easily accomadate our camper & truck AT ALL! It took awhile to get a hold of anybody by phone & when we did, she said someone be there right away. An hour later he showed up! It was storming, so when he showed up we were parked! Roads were EXTREMELY TIGHT to maneuver. It took fellow campers to help us get out the day we left. - dallas 66
Oct 2018 - $23.00
Great park in loop A we stayed in had 3 restroom /shower areas which was nice on busy weekends. Plenty to do at Park hiking trials, mountain bike trails (fee) pool in season (fee). The only reason for not a 10, is signage could be better directing you thru turns in campground. Most sites in campground A will need leveling some quit a bit, our site was at a dead end easy to get into but if you have a large unit careful planning to go around the cul-de-sac for sites 81 thru 86 looked to be best to go around the right side . The other loops looked to be level but mostly full sun. All sites appeared to be paved in all three campground loops. - Steph and Jim
Oct 2018 - $30.00
Park is very nice and there is plenty of space between campsites. Paved roads for walking or bike riding. There is only one water fill station at the entrance and a two way dump station. The line was long especially for the dump station on Sunday. Biggest issue is the bath house in serious need of updating. (See pictures) camping rate at $30 (electric only) and $9 entrance fee to drive in the gate should allow for modernization of the showers. I will go back but would like to see the updates. Lake, nice pool for additional fee, trails. Great park with exception of shower house. - DrBrownie
