Jun 2015 - $25.00
This is an unrestricted county park so the trailers/vehicles were a lot older and vintage, lets say. The turnarounds at the end of each loop were pretty tight and we are in a 21' TT. We just stopped there the night so could not delve into the amenities but the staff was nice. - Fizbin
Jul 2014 - $20.00
This is a county park with a lot of beautiful trees. Unfortunately the paved roads are very narrow with sharp turns. We drive a 34 foot motorhome and pull a car behind us. While trying to find a spot we had to unhook our car from the tow dolly to navigate a turn. When we called to make a reservation we asked if they had full hookup (water, electric and sewer). When we got there we were told no sewer, just a dump site. We decided to deal with it. We ended up not staying as the electric and water hook ups were about 100 feet apart and we could hook up to one but not the other. For us it was a very poor layout. - esta34950
Sep 2012 - $49.00
We stayed three nights. Very small spaces, had to go out and move my truck for they could come in with a motor home. Really not a place to park tow truck. Lots are really close together a picnic table can fit in between. Could never get cable to work. WIFI worked for me but not wife's computer. Couldn't put dish up a lot of trees, trees not bad really. The people where nice that checked us, when they finally got to the desk, we arrived at three pm. It took for ever to get checked in. If I was to stay another three nights I'D find another place, I would stay one night if I had to. 1st KOA I stayed in and they do want to nickel and dime you. My guests drove in, picked us up and the owner didn't say any thing, but the owner didn't see it, either. - JustDon

Nov 2018 - $45.00
This was a typical KOA, lots of sites in neat rows. It is nicely wooded which helps the looks and feel quite a bit. We found it to be a bit pricey ($50 including tax and KOA discount, for the cheapest pull-through site). Check-in was fast and friendly, and our site was level. We had good Verizon and AT&T signal, but Verizon was extremely slow (AT&T was fine). We were only here for two nights and it was below freezing the whole time so we didn't get out to see much of the campground. We'd stay again for a night or two while passing through. - LifeRebooted
Oct 2018 - $75.00
I have to say was kind of worried about this place after reading others reviews but was pleasantly surprised after getting here. The super deluxe sites are real nice with full hookups and full concrete pads. It hadn't had much rain so didn't see the flooding others have said. Looks like more gravel has been brought in for roads and pads. Little café that served breakfast in the morning and meals in the evenings. Nice, friendly staff. It's rated as a KOA Journey but we think it's a step above. Little tricky getting here off the interstate but our GPS worked just fine. - southernsky
Sep 2018 - $73.00
We stayed in one of their new deluxe patio sites with concrete pad, outdoor furniture and updated utilities which was a nice upgrade. Unfortunately there are only 4 of these sites available and the rest of the campground has the typical KOA sites consisting of close together, gravel sites with tight roads. My main complaint as with most KOA campgrounds is that the cost of staying in these campgrounds is high for the value provided. We've stayed in many campgrounds with concrete pads and roads, good spacing between sites and lots of grassy areas for significantly less than $75 at this KOA. The office staff was friendly and helpful. - Jacarl

A beautiful respite and not that far off I-70. Several loops to choose from. Camp Gatekeeper very friendly and accommodating. Selected a site from his map but when we located it, knew it wouldn't work for our motorhome. Called him on the phone and he advised just change the number on the windshield tag to the site we determined would work. Park was getting ready for their annual history event the following weekend so was filling up with campers. Had a very pleasant stay and definitely will put them on our map for next year. - Racer and Friend
Jul 2017 - $20.00
This campground is not friendly towards mountain bikers, which is unfortunate because there is a large mountain bike park a 1/2 mile away. One of the first things that was said to us was "the last time you people were here we had a lot of problems." This was our first time ever going there. There were a lot of mountain bikers staying that weekend and they all commented about how rude the staff was. They want to add a rule that you have to have an RV or tent on your site. One of our campers, after paying for his site got invited to stay in someone's RV that night, so he didn't put his tent up. One of the employees came over at 11:00 pm, when he was getting ready to go to bed, and started arguing with him to put up a tent. Another person was camping out of his van, he had a nice air mattress in the back and pretty much used it like a tent on wheels. They asked him 3x to put up a tent. He couldn't because his van was his tent. They said they are going to make the rule official and kick him out next time. Another downfall is that they don't take reservations. It's difficult to plan a vacation when you aren't even sure you will have a place to stay. Perhaps if you are just a regular person out there to fish it might be ok, but if you have a mountain bike anywhere they can see it, plan on having them drive past your site at least once an hour and scowl at you. The brick shower house lets you adjust the water temp, the red one does not. - Ames Bond

I stayed here three nights in Site 3 on the Oak Loop while passing through in a 27 foot motorhome with a tow car. Agree with other reviewers -- what a find. Lovely county park around lake. Only takes cash. There is a gas station about 2.5 miles south of the park and a Love's Truck stop about a mile north. Campground is on road on the east side of the lake -- day use area is on road that runs along west side of lake. Campsites are on peninsulas built out into the lake so most every site backs up to water. First part of road has very nice tent sites, then there is a red bathhouse and after that comes the electric sites. There are three peninsulas. Locals seem to favor the third -- River Birch. I was on the second peninsula --Oak -- and was the only camper on that peninsula all weekend (there were probably 10 on the River Birch peninsula). The campsites at the end of the peninsulas seem to be the favorite spots. The spots are gravel with grass and most have some shade. There are a couple pull throughs on the first peninsula that can take big rigs but they aren't on the water. Sites vary in size. You pick out your own site. Warning: if you have a big rig or you can't back up because of your tow bar the turnarounds at the end of the peninsulas are VERY tight -- as in mine was a tight turn for my CRV -- first peninsula better than others`. Unless you are going to use a pull through site (they aren't shown on the campground map for some reason) I suggest pulling over to the side of the road after the red bathhouse (the road is wide there) and unhooking your tow car and walking around to look at the sites. There are water spigots to fill up water tanks at the front end of each peninsula. Great walking trails on day use side of park. There is a beach but lake is closed to swimming. Playground is down the road from campground. Train noise but a ways off. Park folk still driving through at 9:15 at night. No alcohol. No 30 amp -- only 50. - SoloRed

Very quiet and friendly park, staff was wonderful and very helpful. The park is in dire need of some upgrades but to no fault of the park itself more so from corporate not investing in this gem of a park. Much needed are upgrading the electric and also a NEED for more sites for the transit folks. This is getting to be a popular place so getting a full hookup spot can be very hard. - DBLR
Jul 2017 - $0.00
Rate reflects that we are holders of a Thousand Trails Family Courtesy card - so actual cost was $0 (no additional charge for 50 amps at this campground). You never know what site you're going to get at Thousand Trails as your reservation just says that you can get "a" site. This campground is nice because they tell you which sites are available and will let you know where you are likely to fit. There are a number of seasonal sites at this campground, but the seasonal folks keep their sites up very nicely. The seasonal folks who were near our campsite had a garden and offered us fresh vegetables! There are quite a few walking trails that are accessible for bikes or golf carts as well. - pattic777

This is a beautiful park. Very wooded with several lakes on the property. There were a lot of seasonal campers with lots set up like second homes. We stayed the Saturday after 4th of July and were treated to a fireworks display. - Bonnie Lee

This is a small county campground. The sites are gravel, the spaces tight, but level. The utilities are a bit weird, electric on one side, water and sewer on the other. Glad we had extra hose. There were only a couple other campers here. The bathrooms are clean, but need updating. We were here about 4 days visiting family. - esta34950
Oct 2017 - $30.00
Needed a last minute reservation for an overnighter while passing through. Little did I know it was the annual Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County, In and the core was in Rockville. The park normally has a two night minimum but they accommodated us for one night. On arrival, a staff member walked me to the site and advised us where to unhitch the tow. The campground is small, has a community feel to it and is a great location for the festival. The sites are tight with minimal pull through. Utilities worked well and it was a fairly quiet place. I would stay here again. - jl2000

Nice quiet campground close to town most spots looked to be level and lots of shade we stayed only a couple days and there were several other campers in the park I would recommend this campground and we will stay again if we are back in the area - Brad79394

We are here for Sat night only. It is a nice campground and the people are friendly. So friendly they partied past 2am right across the street. I am sure they could be heard throughout the park. If that noise was not enough the golf cart races with a least 10 carts continued to at least midnight. When we stayed, it was not a busy weekend. No festivals or shows in the area. We thought we would spend a quiet night and see the covered bridges in the area. The night was anything but quiet. If you are looking for a friendly place to stay up all night then bring your PBR and golf cart. This is the place for you. Roads are rough on RV's. Max speed 20 mph. Come during the week. You'll love the place. The park does supply internet. No phone service, satellite, TV or radio. - Beas
Sep 2015 - $28.00
Nice folks running the park, which was somewhat under construction so we were the only trailer in the park except some permanent folks across a creek that separated the areas. Definitely would stay again, although it is quite aways from anyplace along a back country road. - living large
Jul 2015 - $38.00
The park was not easy to get to, but it was worth it. Admittedly we were there mid-week, but it was obviously a clean and quiet place. We very seldom pay for a campground because most are crowded and noisy. We needed a place to hang for the night after a bad couple of days. This was just the bill. One small issue was the cut down bush that was hard to see in the dark, but that was a minor problem. - Matt_C

We only stayed here for one night on our way through the area. The woman who checked us in didn't seem to know too much about the park, i.e. trails, etc. We were in site AA-36, a pull-through which worked fine once we figured out that we were side by side with the neighboring motorhome, with our rigs facing opposite directions. The utility hookups were in the center between us, and it was a long run for some of the utilities. It would be nice if the website for this park would have a diagram of each site's location. We would have picked a different site. The park itself is very nice, lots of open fields and trails through the woods. We saw a deer and two fawns in the afternoon. It was very quiet and pleasant. Of course this was midweek after school started locally. Unfortunately we didn't get any Verizon service, which is important to us for more than a one night stay. - dbcordello

We stayed one night while touring the covered bridges in Parker County, Indiana. Site 30 was a pull through and we had no neighbors. Many families and children present and active. Enjoyed walking the dogs on the park roads. - Sunnie-Wheelhouse
Jun 2012 - $35.00
First to say that we were very impressed with the facility. We found it to be family friendly, pet friendly, and really quite peaceful. There was lots to do here, including nature trails, playgrounds, horseshoes, and a large fishing lake. We knocked down our review points a bit because we had to move our rig into 3 different spots before we found one that would really work. Our first site, #36 (pull-through), had a sewer hook up about a foot and a half off the ground. This made it impossible to dump or to support your hose appropriately. In fact, when we tried to dump, the height and weight on our sewer hose was so great that it broke! Luckily it was grey water and luckily we were able to fix it without much trouble. Staff was VERY accommodating in moving us, but was quite clear that no refunds were possible. At all. We next moved to site #30 (back-in), but water and electric utilities were on the wrong side of the rig and our water hose wouldn't reach. We then moved to site #31 (back-in). All was good there, but it was certainly a hassle to move 3 times. Know that sites 30 and 31 were 50 amp only. We had to get an adapter from the front desk and they took our credit card as a deposit. We would absolutely camp here again, but only knowing the right spot. In order to save on utility installation, it looks like electric and water were only installed at every other site. Be aware of this when making reservations and make sure that your hook-ups are quite long. - mnlfish

The Park is spotless. New roads. Like new shower house. My complaint is there are only a few level campsites. When Reserve America says a slight grade expect 6-8 degrees. Not good. Our first site was paved but at a nasty slope. The check in girl said we are full and I can not help. After we set up a DNR security person drove up with a list of available sites. We moved to be closer to a bath house. No water or hook up at most Indiana State campgrounds. The new site was at a large angle and gravel. We will remember the slope but it worked for us. We stayed there to be near the bridge festival. We stayed Monday through Thursday. The campground was full but quiet.
We had trouble finding our way in and out of our camp site. During the dark it was a hoot. We drove and drove until my wife recognized a bath house. Some better signs are needed. I will probably never go back and if you are thinking of staying in anything on wheels I would call to pick a level spot. Reserve America is a joke. - OldWrench

Unfriendliest management of all parks I ever visited. Its like we owed them for letting us stay there over and above the already fees. Activities person acted like he didn't want to be there. - Edwards --
Jul 2016 - $23.00
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, and after checking out campsites, we settled on site 208 in the small (12 site) Locust Grove loop. Our site was level with a gravel pad and woods at the back of the site; it was a quiet site off the main traffic routes. We had electricity, but no water or sewer - pretty common in IN state parks. We had no AT&T or Verizon cell service, but were able to get a good satellite signal.
The bathrooms / showers were clean and were cleaned at least daily. Showers were the double-curtain type, with plenty of hot water. There are multiple comfort stations, with additional pit toilets scattered around the campground. There is one dump station, which gets busy at check-out time - there were lines most days. The water fill site was across the road from the dump station, and was equally as busy.
Overall, the campground was nice with a lot of trees. It can be muddy when it rains - and it did, before we arrived and while we were there. In fact, we changed our site when we arrived because our original site was really wet and muddy. Be aware that a lot of the sites have a slope and the main roads are busy, because this park has a lot of campers, especially on weekends.
For cars, trucks and campers, the entrance fee is $7 per vehicle for IN residents and $9 per vehicle for out-of-staters, 7 days a week including holidays, with in-and-out privileges. For walkers, bicycles, buses and passenger vans, the entrance fee is $2 per person. Campsite fees are $23 Sun-Weds, $30 Thur-Sat and $33 on holiday weekends.
The camp store is very nice and had a great selection of ice cream treats!
Lots of very nice trails to hike. Multiple boat ramps and a fishing pier are available, with plenty of boat trailer parking close. - Indybear

This is a Passport America park but we were here during an area covered bridge festival so required to pay full price. Close to highway so there is some road noise, but it is not an overly busy road. Two sites are full hookup, the rest do not have sewer connections. There is a mix of power, some 30 amp, some 50 amp and some both. We had a 30 amp site but had 2 outlets so could use our "Cheater box" to get 50 amp serviced, good on these cold days. Park is very clean with nice amenities although we were just on an overnight stop. Our site was not very level but our jacks got us there. Toad parking was next to our motorhome since the site was short even though a pull-thru. - Grumpier99
Jul 2016 - $24.00
We were in site 22. The restrooms are a long way from the back sites where we stayed. The electric hook-ups are on the wrong side of the site for RV's, which I do not understand why. In the sites up front they are in the middle of the pad area???? This worked but in the future in the area I will look for another place. All sites are gravel and not quite level. - MINomad
May 2016 - $26.00
Nice country park with a very friendly host. Sites are gravel. There are only four 50amp sites and they are all back in sites. Sites are wide and easy to maneuver in. Took a little bit to get level as the back was on sloping ground. The host asked for all pets names in case of any emergency. We love our fur babies and thought that was extremely thoughtful! - Marley B Jones

We stopped here for a night on our way through. One of the hosts is NOT a people person. We had already had a bad day there, and upon checking in, he sure didn't help matters. I asked for an ADA site as they were near the bathrooms, and he said they were for wheelchair people. When you talk to him and he doesn't like what you say, he just shrugs his shoulders. Not a friendly people person at all. The following morning, I did meet another host couple who we didn't know were there. Very friendly people. Sure wish we had met them when we got there as it would have made a huge difference in making our day better. Other than a host who I feel doesn't care about people, the place was clean, other staff great, and we drove down to the store to get ice. Reasonable prices at the store too. Bathrooms and showers were clean and water was nice and hot too. The park itself is clean, sites are spacious & shady, with water nearby all of them. Bathrooms are clean, along with the showers. The pull in sites are mostly back ins but have plenty of room for all size campers. - happy2013camper
May 2016 - $32.00
Scenic park in rural setting with lots of trees. The hosts were a hoot, and very helpful. The condition of the park is immaculate. The sites are situated well - the park was full when I was there, and everyone seemed to have a fair degree of privacy. Verizon barely registers from time to time, but with an antenna works ok. There is no wifi and no other carriers here. The road around the park is great for bikeriding. - KAP99
