Oct 2017 - $60.00
French Lick and West Baden are wonderful historic hotels with beautiful grounds. However the RV Park is not in sync with the rest of the property. For $60 a night I expected a lot more. The camping area is a back row of an outer parking lot with no landscaping and no privacy. Twelve lines are painted on the pavement which were supposed to designate the dozen RV sites advertised. But if 12 rigs parked here you wouldn't be able to put your slides out, the sites are that close. So French Lick gives you two sites when you register, which means there's really only 6 RV spots with hook-ups. Services are located in the rear, too far for our sewer hose to reach. Behind the service poles are a couple of bench swings under small pergolas with a community fire pit between, which was the only nice touch in the whole camping area. A historic train runs alongside the RV park and blows its whistle at the nearby crossing. Shuttle busses will stop at the RV Park for transport to both hotels and the casino. Walking from the RV Park to the casino is not far, but there's no dedicated sidewalks and the shortest route takes you around a rear loading dock which was a bit unsettling at night. We've been to French Lick many times and always stayed at the wonderful hotels. This was our first time in the RV Park, and I was surprised at the scant amenities and lack of thought put into the camping area. For the hefty fee that's charged, there's much room for improvement. - Flying Mantis

Convenient if you want to gamble at the casino. It's a nuisance having to call first then go to the hotel to register and get the key to unlock the hook-ups before pulling into the slip. They are level for 20' and under, not at all for our 45'. Another drawback is the 6am through 10pm mini train whistle that goes off every 15 minutes and runs next to the slips. It is a parking lot with back in RV slips, not a park. It just opened a few months ago so it's spotless, has a trash can for your use, nice wooden swings, full hook-ups that work great, the mini train takes you to the hotel and casino. The water, elect. and sewer hook-ups are at the back but we always travel with extra everything. I was unhappy with the constant 6am-10pm noise so we received a discount. Ask for high numbered sites and hope big rigs park by the train tracks to block the noise. - PERRELLAS

I've been a yearly renter for 3 years, I have read some of the other reviews and would agree with most of it but not all. The previous owner was ready to retire and grumpy! The Park is under new ownership and management, the start of this season has been nothing but positive from the new owners, I would highly recommend that you try the park again this year as I think your experience will be a lot more enjoyable. - RER

If you want to pay the highest rate for a terrible time than here's the place. The lady owner takes your money, never to be seen again. Warns to drive only 5 mph due to their deaf dog, never to be seen. Signs say Smile you're on Camera posted everywhere...no cameras seen. No garbage pickup, have to take it to the overflowing dumpster yourself. You're supposed to shut off the air if you leave campground. So you can return to a overly heated camper and melted foods. The sewer hole is so shallow the sewage splashes out, if you have your sewer hose fully opened. Better be sure to hold it down with something! No Verizon service, no wifi, unless on the office step. Male owner made us move our truck, so it stuck out in the traffic path. He was a jerk about the internet and phones. Felt like a prison camp. Did not see games advertised on website. The rules are so long and ridiculous. Had to leave a day early and no refund, the woman owner never even contacted us like her husband told us. So they got a day of our money without us there. I told her when I called I wasn't certain about the extra days after the first 2. They are not honest, caring people. Do not stay here! It was stressful and unfriendly. There are state parks that are much better; we were told by townspeople. - CamperQuilter

Camping here was a pretty awful experience, and we would recommend highly, please don't stop here, unless you are prepared to experience an invisible fence around your camper. God forbid you deviate several grass blades off your lot, even though there are hardly any other campers in the campground. The management was brash and downright mean, not friendly at all. Wi fi is available but you must be on their porch at the office. Management makes nasty statements asking why would you want to use wi fi when you are camping? After a heavy rain, we laid our wet items on an adjacent empty gravel lot to dry , and when we returned, it was all bundled up and thrown into a pile on the grass in front of our camper. Our picnic table was present when we first arrived but then was removed from our lot by management. There are no trees for shade in the park. It was not a happy or enjoyable experience at all!! BEWARE!!! - Thornton

Aug 2018 - $32.00
Only a couple campsites available when we arrived. Our site was on a big hill - extremely steep. Had a hard time getting a camper tent level - never would have gotten an RV in there. Ended up putting our tent cross ways to get it level. Sites were wooden but close together. Very busy campground on a weekend. Women's bathhouse had great showers - men's needed shower head taken off to get good pressure. Food was scarce - only a few restaurants nearby. Good ways into town. - Happy Campers from IN
Aug 2018 - $34.00
Took all our plates to level on our site. Lots of sites available but few are close to level. Electricity but no water at the site. Cell phone service wasn't very good and very few TV channels. Caves are closed during the week while we were there but otherwise there are lots of things to see at this park. We enjoyed the village. - J and C
May 2018 - $30.00
Check in easy, with a staffed gate house as you enter the campground. The roads are all paved and wide. There are 2 Dump stations near the gate house as none of their sites have sewer hookups. A good mix of campsites with some sunny and some shaded. Some sites are even nestled in a wooded area, but it looked like it would be difficult to maneuver a large motorhome or travel trailer into some of them. Some sites do also have severe grades or drop offs which can make it difficult to level out your camper. Bring lynx levelers to stabilize and level your rig. 2 packs has always got me by here. The electrical boxes are very close and the water spigots are nearby. They're 2-4 spigots on one post to be shared between the nearby sites. I've camped here several times and can usually get away with 50 feet of hose, but would use 75 feet to be safe. Site 113 has the longest run in the campground and 100 feet of hose is required to reach its water. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Both were clean. Cell phone service is spotty. You can get it in some spots, but I wouldn't count on it there. With my TV antenna up I can get a handful of channels. - DDT Gone Camping

Jul 2018 - $33.00
The majority of the campsites are in an open field with no shade. We arrived on a 94 degree day and it took several hours to cool the camper since our site was in the direct sun. Our original site was occupied requiring us to find another site. Majority sites are not very level. The sites on the outer edge of the campground do offer some shade. I would not stay here again. - Poe Dog
May 2017 - $23.00
Nice campground. Total privacy during the week. Weekends had to be busier. Not a camper within a 1/4 mile. - mojomoho
Oct 2016 - $32.00
Our site for 4 nights provided us with a distant lake view during the early fall, this park is huge and have lots of camp sites. Sites are fairly close together with mostly level pads for your camper and other vehicles. Looked to me that many of the better sites where reserved in advance and I will be doing that the next time we return to this park. There is a lot to do here with many hiking trails, visitor center and easy lake access to walk the shoreline, but the lake is the big draw here. Huge lake with great fishing and boating. Entrance fee into the park for campers. The only major complaint I have is the number of fly's that where in the area, they swarmed around everyone campers and when the door was opened in they came, but they didn't bother us anywhere else in the park. I should have know it was a problem when the camp store had fly strips for sale. - Psi500

We stayed here for the first time this past weekend. It is now one of our favorites. We will definitely be staying here quite often during camping season. The campground is amazingly clean, well maintained and nicely manicured. The free firewood and daily courtesy trash pick-up is a plus. We were able to call/text on our phones (Sprint), but we could not get internet service on them. This wasn't a problem for us, because our purpose of camping is to disconnect from the busy world. The only reason I did not give this a 10 rating is because I wish the sites were spaced out a little more, and because it does not have a pool. The Blue River was low enough to wade in, but a pool would be the "icing on the cake" for this campground. - Penny C

What a beautiful park! Spacious rv sites. Clean and well maintained, clean restrooms, friendly service, free firewood, and plenty of play grounds for the kid. Great place to spend a week. We will definitely be back. - Doc B
Jun 2018 - $20.00
This park is owned by a family foundation and the facilities are for the benefit and free to the community. They have some RV sites that are available for rent. It's a great setting and facility. Most everything is pretty new. Interior roads are dirt and sites are gravel. No alcohol and the gate is locked at 8:30 PM until 8:00 AM. No Wi Fi and limited cell service. I loved the quiet! - DRKM

Park looks very nice. There is a 24 hour lit public walking trail around the pond in the park as well as Disc golf course and outdoor exercise equipment. Lots of ducks, geese and flying bugs. Small petting zoo on premises as well as paddle boats for rent. Rentals not offered when we visited. Did not use the restroom or shower facilities. Wood for sale was 4x4 blocks, which I've never seen firewood sold like that, but I'm sure it keeps the fires smaller. Electric and Water only. Dump on-site. As with most State parks, beware the park entrance fee - $6, non-resident. - Unknown_Normal
Oct 2015 - $15.00
We stayed here in October 2015. It is a lovely park with roughly 75 campsites. Most have water and electric; about 14 are primitive and are in a separate section. The sites are of varying lengths; the web site will tell you the size of each site. Eleven sites are over 60 feet, some of them are pull through. We had 50 amp service at our site; I can not say for all sites. It is about 25 minutes or less north of Corydon, Indiana, and near the Indiana Caves and French Lick. The lake has boats for rent, a paved walking, and plenty of squirrels, ducks, and geese to watch while relaxing. The sites were paved, but a little pitched. Bring a couple of leveling boards and you will be fine. We payed $25 for Sunday and $15 for the week days. We enjoyed this campground very much. - jwc47031
Sep 2015 - $28.00
Very nice park with lots of shade in the campground. There is a nice fishing lake with a beach for swimmers. There is a nice walking/biking path around the lake which we enjoyed. Our site was a little unlevel (#53), but we rode around the campground and found a few others we would pick when we return. - Donna Jo

Rustic, pit toilets, but decently clean and maintained. Most spots are large, but some are very small and have steep angles. - dbng
Aug 2013 - $22.00
One of the prettiest parks I have ever been in. Excellent experience in my 27 foot Class A. Very friendly host guided me into my level, long site, albeit surrounded by poison ivy. Then he brought me some tomatoes from his (nearby home) garden. A nice treat. Interior roadways are nicely paved but narrow, but navigable. Electric only. Limited air antenna reception, but I sure didn't care, it was so beautiful. Lake and boat launch. RV dump site up the road 3 miles at another facility, but that didn't bother me. Site very clean, fire pit empty, leaves blown, no cigarette butts!! I would come back here again!!! - NJ_Snowbird
Aug 2012 - $22.00
There are a few sites that will accommodate big rigs/multiple slides, but access roads are narrow. Paved and gravel sites, more suited to small/medium rigs, pop-ups, truck campers, and tents. Some sites are more suited for small rigs, as front to back leveling could be a challenge for longer trailers and MHs. Level tent pads at each site. Spotless bathrooms and showers are well maintained and well stocked. - quicksilver812

May 2016 - $15.00
Our first impression was walking into the office. It was shabby and looked like it had not been vacuumed in some time. The girl helping us was very sweet but seemed to have a difficult time getting us set up. We did have reservations. Getting to our site was tight with narrow roads. The whole campground was uncared for. It seemed like there was no pride taken by the owners or by the many permanent residents. Pretty much all the spaces were taken with permanent residences with old run down RVs with blueboard insulation and other makeshift insulation making the place look bad. Again, no pride seemed to be taken in appearance. Our site was a pull-through that seemed to be for overnight and short stays. Muddy and small piles of dirt, long grass and weeds everywhere. We would pass this campground by if we were in the area again unless it was an emergency. It is a shame as the campground has great potential with a little work and pride from the owners. - MaryVT
Sep 2011 - $13.00
I stayed at Free Spirit for a week. The rate reflects PA rate. This campground is not big rig friendly. There are trees very close to park roadways in several places. Negotiating the roads both coming in and leaving was difficult. In addition, the sites are no where near level. You should plan to bring plenty of levelers. If I were to return to this area I would try one of the nearby state parks. - 15243
Sep 2011 - $27.00
No WiFi, many seasonal campers. Pull Thru available, but small roads to drive and a lot of trees. Some level sites. Campground need some upgrading and paint. Overall: not to bad for one or two nights, beautiful surroundings. - Traveller Excel
