Overall Rating:
We stayed in a cabin at Caboose Lake when travelling to Indiana for the Purdue Ohio State game. Normally we would have brought our fifth wheel, but since this was a quick two day trip late in the season we elected to rent a cabin. Positives for the Campground: The staff was friendly and check-in was very easy. The cabin was clean and spacious and had a nice view of the lake. Overall I would stay here again in a cabin when returning. Negatives for the Camgpground: The roads were narrrow and were not well maintained (lots of potholes). The campground is right next to I-65 and had the worst road noise I have ever experienced. The sites are narrow and because of the way they are angled require a "u-turn" to enter them ... this turn would be very difficult to maneuver in a longer travel trailer or a fifth wheel. The sites are also narrow with multiple trees on them so would be difficult in a unit with slides. The campground has a storage lot in the back that is filled with junk (rusty trucks, worn out single wide mobile homes, a bunch of propane tanks that are well past their useful life). My wife and I concluded that the campground would not accommodate our fifth wheel due to size and concluded that while this was a good cabin campground it was not a good RV choice for larger units. We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Cabin.

Large campground surrounding man-made lake. Mainly back-ins, some pull-thrus. Has 'packed-in' feeling. Single shower room for entire campground. Building is relatively new but lacks cleanliness. Just off interstate, but not a lot of highway noise. Roads dirt and gravel. Staff young with little adult supervision. Not very helpful. Some planned activities for holiday weekend.. Would not return We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is located next to I-65 so expect some highway noise. After that it is all down hill. Roads are very narrow with potholes and it had just rained, so they were full of water. Turn around for pull throughs extremely narrow and short. Pull through site was very narrow with mud puddles on both side so both motorhome and car became muddy. Tree close to slide outs, did get them out though. Afraid to put jacks down as ground quite soft. Would not recommend this park at all. They seem to be more interested in the water activities. We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

I am not sure what Good Sam's definition of "good roads" is, but this park certainly wouldn't get that definition from us. And the WiFi wasn't much better. Finally, the traffic noise from the interstate was so loud, we had to run our fan AND wear ear plugs, even with all the windows closed and a site clear across the lake from the highway.
All-in-all, a very poor park for the price. We certainly wouldn't stay here again! We
camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice camp ground. Easy to get in and out. The folks there were great. The little lake looked clean, nothing floating in it. All the hook ups worked and were easy to connect. We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a good stopover place for us...stayed 3 Times. Easy to get in and out with large RV. Like others noted...interior roads could use repair. Noise? Of course...you can see the campground from the highway...the price you pay for convenience. Will continue to stay here when traveling through. Office folks nice. Great adjoining field to run the dogs. We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

This has got to be one of the worst parks we have ever stayed in during our 18 years of RVing. The interior roads are very bad with lots, and lots, and lots of potholes. The road noise is so loud you can hardly talk over it. The wifi is useless, at least at our site, and all this for $41.00 with a Good Sam discount. The sites are close together. Our site was clean and the water and electric worked fine. The office staff was nice and check in was very easy.
We normally do not park at Walmart, although we have on occasion, but RV parks like this one make me think twice about parking at Walmart. If you're going to charge $45 before discount, at least pave your roads and update your wifi so I can at least work on my computer while I cannot sleep from the road noise. Needless to say we would not stay here again. We

This park is over priced, that said it was almost full of transient workers who were employed building a very large wind farm close by. The restrooms were clean, but a bit dated. The interior roads are some of the roughest park roads we've ran across during our travels. Our site backed up to the interstate on the west side and the dense row of pine trees did little to reduce road noise. Years ago when we stayed here for a few days, the park accepted Passport America, but no longer. The rate shown was for 7 nights over Memorial Day weekend, we had a graduation reception to attend in Lafayette (30 minutes south), plus a doctor's appointment in Indianapolis (about 90 minutes south on I65) and with the Indianapolis 500 race this was as close as we could get. We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

It was off season and no one in office. Registration by honor system. Many campers that were working in the area and spaces were few. None of the facilities were open. Site had fire ring but no table. Only two pull thru sites available. Gravel roads in park were in bad shape. We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

We arrived and were told that there was no problem accommodating us in a 43 ft motorhome and towing a full size truck. Wrong! We got to the end of the drive to make a wide turn and had to unhook or scratch the new motorhome with trees. Then sites not concrete, but soft gray clay gravel, and it rained. Will not stay there again. Girl in office young and not knowledgeable about motorhomes. Just not room to make the turn to park. We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Road noise is unbearable. Cannot have a conversation without yelling or waiting for trucks to finish using Jake brakes. Very overpriced. Site was unlevel, no shade and large puddles of water that never dried up in the week we stayed. WiFi is nonexistent and no cable. I will not return. Been going here for 13 years....sometimes 1 to 4 times a year...many reviews are true...yes noise of freeway is bad but it's close to us about 45 miles from home....there are some good things about the park...such as the lake and things to do for kids...but the flip side of this is the costs...everything cost here...it is worse then those greedy amusement parks....camping has doubled here since we have been going in 2004..used be be affordable...now it's higher then most motels...the owner charges for everything...surprise there isn't a coin operated machine on the toilets...one person wrote surprise she doesn't charge for the air you breath....those bands for kids are high for using their slides and things...the owner also rules with iron fist....she has a huge attitude and won't reason with no one....don't ever get on her bad side trust me on this...we never had a problem but seen and heard many....camping used to be fun affordable and a chance to get away from the rat race...this place is not it anymore....she is trying to turn it to a second rate amusement park for kids while trying to drain the parents of money while camping there....camping is too high here and not to mention everything else....it used to be nice here but owner got greedy....there are speed bumps and silly gates here ...it's like a prison yard...she claims people coming in....which now I think is like 10.00 per guest.....look I know it's a choice to go here but have to be honest from what I have seen and experience! We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This was the only park in the area of our travels, so we decided to take a chance despite the poor reviews. After the last review, we considered cancelling our reservation, but was told that we were within the 10-day window that prohibited a refund. Entering the park, it is a long, dusty trip to the pull-through sites, resulting in a tow vehicle covered in dust. Hookups were not convenient; sewer was 20' to the rear of the power pedestal, water was 25' in front, requiring extensions for both. But the real problem is the noise - overwhelmingly loud, continual, and intrusive. We felt like we were parked in the median of the interstate, except that if we were we wouldn't have the roar of exhaust brakes as trucks slowed for the adjacent truck stop. WiFi was intermittent, Verizon cell/data was good, and there is no cable TV and little OTA. All this for $42 a night with the Good Sam discount. We will avoid this park in the future. We camped at Caboose Lake Campground in a Motorhome.
