Nov 2018 - $18.00
This is a nice little park and much appreciated in the late fall since it's one of the few that is still open until the end of November. The water is off but it's still a great overnight stop for anyone heading south and needing a place with electric and sewer hook-ups. Owners are on-site and very friendly and helpful. Our site was level gravel and hook-ups were conveniently located. There are improvements each time we stop here and they definitely work hard to make visitors feel welcome. Most of the new sites are pull-thrus. There are quite a few permanent sites back in the woods but they seem to be well maintained. - SandyA
Aug 2018 - $17.00
This was the friendliest camp ground we have ever stayed in. We were escorted to our level space by one of the owners....realized that the next morning. Before the owner left our space I smartly said, "Wish we had a table to cook dinner out". Well, within 5 minutes we had a nice picnic table. There is an old section and a new section which we stayed in. Everyone that rode by our site waved an acknowledged us. Hope our travels take us through their area again! - Dot22

Just stopped here for a quick overnight on our way back home. Lots of seasonals here, but wasn't populated on a cold Monday night. We got escorted back to our pull through, a nice bonus.Place seems decent. - Bob806

Just passing through for one night on the way to North Carolina. Hosts were friendly and helpful. The lots (we had full hookup) were easily accessible and level. A walk around the park showed it to be very well kept with many amenities for family camping. We decided to stay again on the trip home! - Marty A
Jun 2018 - $20.00
Easy to find, wide entrance, tree-lined with white fence! The first building you come to is NOT the office, it is past the small gatehouse, ahead and to the right. Mature trees providing nice shade. Interior roadways are a mix of asphalt and gravel. Our site was loose gravel, not well-packed, and our coach sunk in quite a bit. Dump station on exit. Very clean and well-kept with trash can and non-potable water to clean up. Mainly a Christian retreat, there were many many long-term travel trailers parked there, and many families with children. Lovely playground area for them, and a pool as well. Office staff were very friendly and helpful and there's a small campstore onsite. Wifi was not useable to us, signal was too weak. Trash is collected from the front of your site. Some sites are on the side next to the interstate, but the road noise was not too bad at all. - DebbieT in Alabama

Very nice campground with easy access off of I-70. Super nice owners who work hard to keep the place up. Great for overnight or longer stays. - Ken-1234

Apr 2016 - $40.00
I'm on a seasonal site here at Walnut Ridge. It's about an hour from my house, and my sister and brother in law also come out and camp--our schedules are different enough that we rarely overlap. Therefore, it's perfect for us.
Walnut Ridge the campground pre-dates the RV dealership of the same name. Apparently, once Gary Hart bought the campground way back when, they ended up selling a few campers here and there and the idea for the RV dealership was born. Most people know of the dealership first--it is a very busy place these days. There is a service center as well. If you buy from the dealership, you can spend 2 free days camping at the campground. It's a nice way to become familiar with your new purchase.
I did buy from Walnut Ridge, but I'd no idea at the time where I was going to store it. When I saw the campground and learned I could keep my new TT on a seasonal site for about the same price as paying for yearly storage, I was sold.
I love camping here. Having ready access to my trailer without having to move it is nice. It's a very quiet campground, with lots of friendly people. The grounds are kept very clean and they have lots of activities. There's mini golf, a playground and a very nice pool. The store sells ice cream. WiFi is very good. I love the trees and the birds, though not too fond of the squirrels and their destructive ways.
There are pull-through sites for temporary visitors, which I've used. I can pull my trailer out to go places, and find the roads and paths to be well kept. There aren't any poorly kept sites to be seen.
My sole complaint is the lack of sewer hookup, but I recognize that it's impossible given the hills of the place. They do offer a pump service, but I got my own honeywagon and empty that way. It's not bad. They treat you like family here, and I love it. - drdit92
Apr 2014 - $50.00
This has more seasonal campers in it than anyone else. They have an area set up for people who have bought a new camper from them to stay for 2 nights free. Not sure if you can pick a different area to "camp" in there, but never saw anyone other than seasonal campers in other areas. There isn't any sewer hookup, only water & electric, and its hard to dump your tanks how they have it set up. It's on a hill, on a turn, and its some maneuvering to get it lined up to dump. While you are doing that, the road is pretty much blocked. The 2 days we were there, our sink, & toilet turned brown from the water. TWO DAYS! The campground is clean, is quiet, looks really nice though. If you want to go swimming, it costs $5 a person. I never knew any place that charged to swim if you are camping. I was told by the man in the office that the rates are compatible with all the campgrounds in that area. They aren't. Check for yourself. I would never stay there unless it was an emergency. It's overpriced. - happy2013camper
Oct 2012 - $18.00
Stayed here two nights due to weather. Closing on the 14th for the season. Beautifully kept area inside and out. Showers were not new but very clean and well maintained. We appear to be the only ones left here that are not full time. Staff is most helpful and has a wonderful supply of tools if you forgot your saw, etc. I agree that the dump station is a strange spot on the way out. Easy access, cement pads for pull through, friendly, and even they escorted us to our site. I would return. - Cape Cod

Visited mid October for a two day stop off. Camp is remote, quiet with a good boat launch into a no wake fishing lake. Wooded sites are primarily crushed rock, moderate spacing with water and 50 amp service. Water stations are shared between sites so a longer hose is recommended. Wooded lots have slight to moderate grade, several with direct lake access. There are also many level, full sun sites in grassy area. Bath house was freshly painted with even fresher spider webs that are not routinely removed. Otherwise functional. Several well maintained easy walking trails to wear out dogs and their owners. Our wooded site was frequently dropping hickory nuts on the roof for added excitement. Probably limited to this time of year. Overall a nice state park that we will return to for future leisurely stop offs. - Newfwagen
Sep 2018 - $24.00
Summit lake is a beautiful lake east of Indianapolis. After Labor Day, he beach is closed, and most people appear to be there for the fishing. The campground is divided into two loops. The first loop is open, sunny, and relatively flat. The second is in the trees. Some sites are more level than others. All the sites appear to have power. The pads are gravel, or at least there's a bit of gravel sprinkled into the grass in each site. When we stepped out of our motorhome, we stepped into ankle deep wet grass. There are "shared" water spigots around the campground. People with long, long hoses were hooked up. There wasn't a single site in a mostly empty campground where our 25' hose would have reached, so we used the water in our tank. The electric hookups were closer than the water, but so far back from our site that we ended up using our extension cord to get power. The bathrooms were basic, but get the job done. Cell service was fine. - AnnP
Sep 2016 - $25.00
1st time back in several years, returned due to upgrade of electric hookup to include 50amp. As with most Indiana State Parks, this park is well maintained. Service locations are acceptable, but 50 feet of water hose is needed for shared water faucet between sites. As full timers we carry 100 feet of hose at all times. Our site was easy to level on, others were uneven front to back. - Teacher's Pet

Jul 2017 - $60.00
We were seasonal campers at this camp ground for years. It has steadily declined in seasonal campers because the owner increases the rent every year, while not maintaining the grounds or stocking the fishing lake. They spray chemicals in the lake with total disreguard for swimmers using the beach area and anyone fishing. The spraying boat has a huge pump that sprays what appears to be copper sulfate (blue] right where you are trying to fish and blasts the swim area also while swimmers are still in the water (including kids]. On more than one occasion, parents screamed at there kids to get out of the water because of this. This happened on a Sunday. Really? We have since also pulled out permanently after dealing with this nonsense, Could go on and on with other things we have witnessed but will stop with this. The owner seems to only care about the money, and the camp ground reflexs this. - iwashere
May 2017 - $35.00
I checked in after seven. Jim the camp host was very friendly along with everyone I met. I got set up and them walked up to the "store" to pay. Long walk. mix up on my site number, but was handled quickly. I understood the fees as the park is more amusement for family than for an overnighter . Site had been mowed and left the clippings behind, must have been a foot tall before mowing, Jim said they had a lot of rain. - captjer

Pulled in to Modoc & went to the store to check in. Was given a map for our site. Got there about 5 -6 pm. The 1st night set up and just walked around the camp grounds, let the kids play at the play ground. Not sure of our site number, last row near the street. Very noisy from road traffic. Folks seem to haul it down this road. The next morning we ate breakfast & we headed to the pond. Not a lot of folks there as most pulled out that morning. There were about 10-15 folks swimming. Some very young 2-3 years old. My husband and myself were sitting on the beach area watching our grandkids swimming. They were in the pond about a half hour or so when a boat spraying something was on the other side of the pond. We ask a couple that was sitting near us if they were full time here or visiting and if they knew what was being sprayed. They had stated they were full time & had no idea what was being sprayed. There was another couple who was there visiting. They had ask the boat driver what he was spraying. The boat driver ignored him. My husband went over to the boat driver and ask also. He ignored him also. My husband noticed the boat driver was wearing gloves, long shirt and long pants. My husband ask if this stuff he was spraying was hazardous because of him being completely covered while he was spraying. He finally answered and said state regulations. We told our grandkids to GET OUT OF THE WATER IMMEDIATELY. Several others were screaming the same thing. We all went to find the owner and find out what was being sprayed. The owner stated he did not know BUT he would bring us a chemical paper of what was being sprayed. The 1st line read Hazards to humans and domestic animals. DO NOT get on skin clothing in eyes -mouth or inhale. To achieve desired control with herbicide in flowing waters (which this is not), a minimum exposure period of 3 hours should be maintained. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Rec'd a refund of 1/2 our swimming fee and our camp fee for that day. Loaded up and left immediatly. NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN. - Loandiva

Oct 2018 - $25.00
New owners took over in 2018 and are making improvements to this older park. 60-70% are seasonal/full-time residents with a mix of size/quality of rig (some dilapidated). Overnight stays are mostly on pull-through FHU sites in a single loop near the laundry. Roads and sites are narrow and graveled. We nearly bottomed out our rig pulling into the entrance because the ground slopes and the gravel won't stay on the slope. We were able to stay in a pullthrough that was just long enough for our truck & trailer (~70 feet) but some are significantly shorter. Half the campground is down a steep hill - be careful of your hitch setup, and avoid it if you have a XL (40-foot) rig. Utilities were fine, although definitely lots of iron in the water (even using an external filter) but no problems with laundry and we just drank bottled water. The grounds are lovely, with a large pond, mature trees, and lots of room to walk the dog. (They don't shade the campsites though.) As we were there during the fall it was pretty quiet and the activities had all been packed away for the summer. Big camp store. Truck stop and McDonald's are basically across the street. - a_elkins
Aug 2018 - $52.00
This is a wonderful family park. We had never stayed in a Yogi Bear Park. The road getting into the park is about 3/8 of a mile of rough dirt road. Staff is nice and friendly. But when I asked about filling my propane tank on my MH they didn't know how. Sewer pipe was broken under ground.. When I told them about the person that came to investigate said it's been that way for a week not my job to dig. The pull through sites are gravel. Which is one of my complaints. The size of the gravel was almost fist size. Making it hard to walk and drive on. They are set up as buddy sights. There is a lot of road noise especially at night, which is why we probability would not stay again. - newbies2016
Aug 2018 - $27.00
The road in along with my site were gravel/water/mud. I believe that my site and the one next to me are the Passport America sites as they appear to be the worst in the park. Very unlevel & muddy. For the price I paid the value was satisfactory. The rest of the campground looked pretty decent. - Lugnuts

This place is really fun. Owners are ....he and his wife came by our site and talked for 45 minutes Friday night....they are really nice people......terrific and people are very friendly. It is primarily a seasonal campground, but they have a few spots for people traveling through like us. We loved it. They have donkeys, chickens, rabbits. Owner collects old stuff and it is all over their 40 acre property. The property is on the Whitewater River and there is a canoe/tube rental place right there. The only negative for us was no WiFi and no antenna TV reception....because most of the renters are seasonal they have satellite dishes for TV - Discus 277

This is a nice campground, loved staying here hot water in showers, very nice and helpful owners they are constantly updating and beautifying the campground. There is kids playground and river rats business here to rent tubes and kayaks to go on the river, they have walking trails, fishing. It's peaceful here. Would come back. - Bubbles1987

We stayed here in July of 2017. We arrived on a Friday evening and left on Sunday afternoon. We stayed in site 67. The campground is small, but most of the sites seemed somewhat spacious. A lot had nice shade trees. Some of the picnic tables looked like they could be replaced. There was lots of potable water sources readily available. One shower house with showers and flushing toilets. There were "pit toilets" throughout the rest of the park but when we used them the toilets actually flushed but there were no sinks in those so bring hand sanitizer! All of the pit toilets seemed very clean. The shower houses were clean, except for a lot of water all over the floor. A lot of the people were loud but seemed to all observe the quiet hours and DNR drove through a lot to check on things. Front gate woman was extremely nice! We drove down to the beach one day and it was terrible . The beach was flooded and full of trash, there was barely any sand it had all been washed away. There were a ton of boats out on the water though. This campground seems much nicer and smaller than the one at nearby! But do go there to hike some trails. There was a nice bait store right outside the park that sells firewood. The park also sells firewood and ice. - NerdWhoHikes
Jul 2009 - $28.00
Quakertown SRA is a wonderful campground. Lots of level and grassy sites. Many shaded sites. Close to Quakertown Marina, where you can rent pontoon boats on Brookville Lake. They have a beach, but there were many geese at the beach. This campground is in the middle of no where. There is a store right outside of the park to purchase essentials and they have hot pizza, if you need a break from cooking. The campground is paved and has blacktop pads, with a big picnic table and fire ring. As in most of Indiana state parks no water hookups. If you choose to camp here I would camp close to the one and only comfort station, as the throne pit toilets don't do much for me. This is always a quiet campground. If you have little one's take them to the marina and get some dog food to feed the fish. - theschuettes

We stayed fairly close to comfort station, and found it a busy traffic site. Well shaded, and good water, trash removal, had picnic tables and campfires are allowed. Most sites are pretty well graveled and reasonably easy to level a camper. They have added water view cabins, and most of the park provides for easy fishing access, and water view.
Friendly staff, well security patrolled. Really need to improve the sewer dump station. It would really make it a better park, if they installed sewer connections and upgraded the restroom and shower facilities. - Jacobsen
Jul 2010 - $25.00
Stayed here due to the close proximity to the Muncie 70.3 race. Mostly seasonal campers. The daily RV sites have only a 30 amp outlet and water hookup. They are generally narrow, unlevel and scattered with trash. Can't figure why folks don't pick up after themselves because there are large trash cans every couple sites. The grass isn't mowed often. They have primitive tent site closer to the one bathroom/shower. Although the bathroom is old it was fairly clean. The staff is friendly and helpful although they allowed another RV to take the site I'd reserved because they were staying longer and they said our 40ft would fit on a site that was made for a 20ft. This isn't a place you would come to "camp" but if you're coming to race or boat/fish it fits the bill for an overnight or two. - cpahog

I really liked this park. We arrived midafternoon for an overnight. Our site overlooked a pond and was clean. About two/three minutes from Interstate 70. As others said, the road in was a bit old, but our 28 foot class c had no issue. We didn't encounter any low hanging tree branches that got in the way of our rv. Wifi was okay, not great. - Lucy7513
Jul 2018 - $46.00
The sites are very close to rigs and vehicles and roads which made it very difficult in maneuvering the turns of the roads. The campsites and parked trucks caused us to hit low tree branches causing significant damage to our 45ft RV. This KOA is not for big rigs. - Karenbh
