This is thousand trails/koa?? Stayed in koa section that was kind of swampy but close to a fishing lake. Nice pool and playground. Thousand trail section is large with many permanents and golf carts cruising everywhere. - Bjb1775

The main staff is the only reason this review is as high as it is. The campsite itself was clean, our pull-through site was huge, and the staff was very kind and helpful. My low review, however, is specifically to the pool staff. We were swimming in the late afternoon, and there was a good sized staff of lifeguards of 4 or 5. They must've had friends swimming, because, despite all the guard towers, they all sat in pool chairs on the same side of the pool chatting with each other, their friends in the pool, and taking pictures with their phones. Yes, at least 2 of them had their phones out, taking selfies!
We only stayed there for the night, but the place had a good friendly vibe to it. I'm not sure if we'd stay there again, but I would warn, not necessarily discourage, people from staying there. - JKBuzenby
Jun 2016 - $40.00
This is a very confusing place if you are staying only a few nights using KOA. The KOA campground sits in the middle of a Thousand Trails membership campground. The amenities have recently undergone an upgrade with a new pool area and clubhouse. Sections of the TT campground are developed with campers permanently on campsites. The campground is gated requiring a key card to get in after hours.
When we arrived we were met by TT folks who were helpful getting us checked in but wanted to sell TT. The KOA staff forgot to give us a card pass for entry into the park after hours so we were locked out one night until someone could open the gate for us. There is a lot of vehicle traffic with both cars and golf carts.
KOA should consider turning their part over to TT. I don't recommend staying here. - Aldeaux

We stayed in the Thousand Trails Phase 2 section of the joint campground. We had heard that they had made a lot of improvements over the past year and they have...to the new phase 5 section. The KOA and Phase 2 section (which are very close together) the sites were lacking upkeep. A lot of swampy areas and tall grass. Our site had not been cleaned and there was a small amount of garbage we cleaned up. Our fire ring (basically paving stones stacked up) was in disrepair and unusable. We also had a very small concrete patio with a rusty grill (filled with garbage) and no picnic table. We also only could get a water/electric only site due to the number of campers. The electric service wasn't that great but the water pressure was good. Our site was surprisingly level and stable for for our travel trailer and truck. The pool is very nice and large and well kept; the main playground is large and offered a lot of different activities for our two elementary children. There are a few other small playgrounds throughout the campground that seemed to be in good shape as well. The common areas were mowed and the trees looked to be in good shape though most open sites are in direct sun with the seasonal/permanent sites in the shaded areas. The staff were very pleasant at the ranger station and camp store but we didn't see any regularly going throughout the campground. Being a holiday weekend, the place was filled to capacity but there seemed to be enough convenient garbage bins to handle the crowd. - CinciSam
Jun 2018 - $36.00
The roads we used had a lot of potholes. The fire ring was a bunch of landscaping rocks in a circle. It seemed that there were a lot of "workcampers" upon seeing all the things around their sites. It's a big park. Our graveled site was fairly level. The way the "ranger" took us to our site, i had to place the water and power cord under my rig. - 1dinky

We stayed on the Thousand Trails side. We had made our reservations about 3 weeks in advance, reserving a full hook-up, 50 amp service pull-thru. When we checked in, we were given a map, and told find a site that we liked. The employee told us that here are the 3 phases, and she circled them on the map. Phase 2 and 4 had pull-thrus, but she didn't know what sites were available, what sites had full hook-ups, what sites had 50 amp, and what sites were just water and electric. She did know that phase three was just water and electric. We drive around, ran into some low hanging branches in phase 3, where another employee directed us to phase 5, which also was a mix of full hook-ups, some with 30 amp, some with 50 amp, and some with just water and electric. After a third employee stopped us and helped us, we were able to find a site. We ended up in phase 2, where our site was mostly grass, and not level. We were able to level the coach by placing pads under the rear wheels. The water and sewer were in the driver side and the electric was on the passenger side, so we had to run the electric under the coach. Then it rained for a couple of days and the fire pit and sewer connection were under water. Our thoughts are, if you are going to take reservations and charge $52 per night, you should at least be able to tell people what site that they reserved, instead of telling them you need to go find your site. - Bbtj

Great park in loop A we stayed in had 3 restroom /shower areas which was nice on busy weekends. Plenty to do at Park hiking trials, mountain bike trails (fee) pool in season (fee). The only reason for not a 10, is signage could be better directing you thru turns in campground. Most sites in campground A will need leveling some quit a bit, our site was at a dead end easy to get into but if you have a large unit careful planning to go around the cul-de-sac for sites 81 thru 86 looked to be best to go around the right side . The other loops looked to be level but mostly full sun. All sites appeared to be paved in all three campground loops. - Steph and Jim
Oct 2018 - $30.00
Park is very nice and there is plenty of space between campsites. Paved roads for walking or bike riding. There is only one water fill station at the entrance and a two way dump station. The line was long especially for the dump station on Sunday. Biggest issue is the bath house in serious need of updating. (See pictures) camping rate at $30 (electric only) and $9 entrance fee to drive in the gate should allow for modernization of the showers. I will go back but would like to see the updates. Lake, nice pool for additional fee, trails. Great park with exception of shower house. - DrBrownie
Sep 2018 - $28.00
Pretty State Park, mediocre campground. Nightly rate does not include one-time $7 entry fee for Indiana residents. The campground is maintained, however the overall look is that of a place that needs some fresh investments. The men's shower house has one private shower, and then one locker room style shower room with a couple shower heads and no privacy. Also, there's no ability to adjust the temperature and we found the showers to be too hot. The sites are a little on the short side, so most folks had to park their tow vehicles sideways in order to stay out of the road. The interior roads are very narrow, and unbelievably, there is a water spigot at the only entrance to campground B- so multiple folks were filling their tanks prior to entering the campground, thus creating a backup for the rest of us trying to get in or out. Sites are electric only. The sites are generally well separated, but there is no privacy between sites. A nice canopy of trees exists on the perimeter sites but we noticed several dead branches waiting to fall that should be removed. Same goes for the pretty trails- numerous "widow makers" hung over the trails. Several days after rain we noted standing water and muddy ground, so I'm guessing this place has occasional flooding issues, judging also by the fresh straw that was placed at some of the sites. Mosquitos were pretty bad in the evenings. The camp store has only the most basic provisions; firewood is reasonably priced at $5 for eight pieces that you select yourself. At&t cell service is good, and we received several over the air TV stations. There are canoe, kayak and row boat rental available. Fishing looks decent. - Fdwt994

Called ahead and asked for a place by the pool and under some tree coverage and verified there was wifi access.I was assured we would receive all three amenities. We asked the person who met us if we indeed were parked under shade trees and were again told we were. We get to our spot which was right by the pool but there were no shade trees. I mean we could SEE them from where we were parked but none near us.The pool was completely unsuitable for all but the frogs that called it home with 10 inches of water.Major maintenance is required to get this thing usable. Falling apart and concrete missing, metal thrown in like it's being used for garbage.
We felt deceived but had already paid. After a couple weeks of some very strange traffic I called into the Sheriff's department when the Deputy on duty advised me he would probably not stay there with his family. We witnessed underage drinking as well as numerous other sketchy activities. I never felt personally threatened, but would advise caution for travelers with kids.
We tried the little restaurant and was not surprised to find the food was unremarkable-at best-but the service was awful. The woman seemed annoyed that we actually ordered off the menu rather than using the buffet.
The owner while seemingly nice lied to us regarding the 3 major things we requested over the phone. She informed me we had access to wifi but when we got there she would not relinquish the pw to us claiming she did not know it and the server at the restaurant told us nobody ever gets it.
I had a difficult time contacting the owner when calling (which really should have been my first clue)-I kept getting the "restaurant" and the owner was the only person who would discuss sites but was never around.
I would not go back as things are. This was clearly a very nice place at one point. If someone were to take some care and renovate the park and pool, maybe add a little security..I would consider giving it another shot.Until then-Beware. - Hart_Serenity

Need better direction signs inside the park. Had to ask 2 different people directions to office. Last one led me to location in his golf cart. Interior roads are gravel. Very friendly staff. Passing through and will stay here again if in the area. They have a restaurant on the premises. - RockenL

Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 4 nights in a site for big rigs. If you plan to visit Cincinnati during winter there really isn't any place closer than Indian Springs Campground. If you're looking for the convenience of staying close to the city, then this is your place. The sites here are roomy with a grassy area between each. Our site was right across from the office (in the center). We had a level gravel site that was long enough for our Coach and TOAD. The office gal was super nice and friendly. Almost of the park is filled with long term tenants, they were quiet and clean. There is a highway right next to the park but at night the traffic wasn't an issue. Our satellite worked great here. If you're looking for a quiet and clean park where you can sit outside and relax... go here. We enjoyed our stay, and would go back. - JDC10

I had a lovely site, backed-up to the little lake. There are ducks and fish. Paddleboats and canoes are available. There is a little hiking trail around the lake. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The lever at the water connection to turn the water on broke, and it was fixed within 2 hours. There is an old houseboat and motorhome parked nearby. Maintenance is done daily, trash, landscaping, etc. The park is close to a large grocery store, and about 35-45 minutes from Cincinnati. Sites seem level. Some traffic noise from the nearby freeway. I am coming back next year. - Pazahora

Miami Whitewater Forest Campground is located in the largest park in the county park system. The campground is clean and the new shower/restroom facility was also clean. The park is great and there are plenty of things to do outside the campground. While there, the campground was completely full. I camped in a tent, but agree that the campground is not the best for large campers and motor homes. The spaces are small and packed close together and many are hilly. My main complaint was what was already stated in a previous review. The campsites were all overloaded. 2-4 campers or tents per site with large groups staying in them in addition to having "visitors" come by in the evening. Both Friday and Saturday night, the campground did not quiet down until after 1 am. Saturday I walked by one site that had at least 30 chairs with adults in them and a hoard of children as well. Bright lights, loud music and loud conversation. Not peaceful, not quiet. - Willajean112
Jun 2017 - $35.00
Getting to this park requires good advanced mapping and intuition; there could be more directional signage. This park is not suitable for long 5th wheels and motor homes. The park map does not show the steep grades and very tight curves with large trees close to the narrow one-way road. Very few sites are level. Bring plenty of blocks. It was very difficult to back into my site due to the trees and the location of the electric post. Plan to drive your rig to the water station to tank up before backing in and setting up. Heavily wooded. Only electric hook-up. Camping is a long way from the rest of the park which has no place for swimming. The bath house is new, very clean and free. - Osita5
Jul 2016 - $27.00
The campground is in a nice park facility with a great play area for the kids located down by the lake. It is not real close to the campground though.
We also had to purchase an annual county park pass to be able to get in ($10.00).
The reason for the average rating is very few of the sites are level. Many of them are slanting downhill so it is hard to get level.
They could use a little better signage directing those who do not live here to the campground and check in. We drove past it the first time and had to call to find out where to go.
Also, even though they have a maximum camper limit of 6 people and two tents (or one camper unit and one tent) per site there were several that had many more than that, one having at least 18 people in it and one with 4 tents.
Their dump station is also located on a hill making it hard to get completely empty.
It is a very busy park on the weekends with lots of tent campers - 3 to 6 tents per site.
I would recommend this campground in certain areas only and during the week if possible. - prstlkid

One of the largest state park campgrounds in Indiana, this park has it all. Hiking, boating, swimming beach and lots of wildlife. I counted 7 red birds in a tree at out campsite one morning. Our site was nice but a tree had been removed and the stump ground out so that part of the site was uneven and had no grass. Full hook up sites go fast for weekends and Holidays so book early all other sites are electric only. AT&T was 2bars and OTA TV was adequate. Visitor center is managed by the Army Corp of Engineers and has an overlook of the Dam and lake. I was told the fishing is very good. - Psi500
Aug 2017 - $40.00
The park itself is nice and so is Brookville reservoir. The campsites is where the park is lacking. Tent sites should be separate from other sites. It just makes sense because of what people are looking for when they rent a site. People were running through all sites with no respect for others. Parents should teach their children better. Dogs were left at sites unattended while owners were visiting elsewhere. Yes they were BARKING. This was a nightmare. I was really disappointed. Never to return. - Joe Mallory
Jun 2017 - $30.00
We stayed for two nights. Not one time did we see a DNR staff member drive through our loop. The people in the next site, left their dog tied up outside, by itself, while they visited people in a different loop. The dog barked the whole time they were gone(3 1/2 hours). There were people setting off fireworks, after dark. This is a great park, if you like to party and be loud most of the night! - No return

Sep 2018 - $50.00
There are two sections of this campground, one is on the Ohio River and the other is closer to state route 56 (maybe 3/4 of a mile away). The sites near the office are surrounded by apartments. We stayed on the lower level near the river in site 133. It was very quiet and peaceful. There are no trees/shade on lower level but nice sized sites. There were quite a few seasonal campers in the lower level, some nice some I wouldn't want to be around if they were going down the highway. When we arrived we were in a hurry to set up before a huge storm moved in. Got camper level, slides out, Wheels chocked and that's when we realized we had no power at our post. Had enough extension cord to confirm we had power at the site next to ours. Call the office and 40 minutes later two guys arrived in a golf cart with no tools or anything. While we were waiting for them my dog actually sniffed near the post and yelped. Walked over to see what happened and found the clamp on ground rod loose as could be. I'm assuming he got a small shock from touching it. Showed the workers the clamp but they didn't have any to replace it. Their solution was to just leave my camper plugged into the neighbors post and did offer an extension cord. Luckily our neighbors were friends of ours and they didn't mind. I also pointed out the sewer pipe in ground was broken and had no threads to hook onto and picnic table legs were broken. They mentioned they were slowing replacing all of them as most had been hit by the lawn mowers. This campground has so much potential but needs some tlc. On a plus side they're was fresh gravel on the driveway but the lots could use some as most of our site was all grass with patches of gravel. We weren't offered a different site or any type of refund for our troubles. I would return in the future but would be sure to check for power before unhooking from tow vehicle. - Kyle S
Jul 2018 - $56.00
Older campground near river. There are 2 sections - one that is original area, second has river frontage. with fewer facilities. Original owners died recently and the daughters are trying to restore the campground to its previous 'glory'. We visited the weekend before the Fourth of July. Many seasonal sites. Mix of pull-thrus and back-ins. Restrooms are minimal but clean and well-stocked. Lots of shade in the older section. Many activities for holiday weekend. Pool is clean and heavily used. Roads are gravel. Sites are dirt and gravel. Staff helpful and friendly. Passport America Mon/Tue/Wed. Would return. - grandma0942
