A old campground with services for your trailer such as water, electric and sewer are very different from what a newer campground would have. I had to buy an extra 25 feet of water hose to allow me to hook up to my fresh water location at the mid point on my trailer. I now have 5o feet of water hose. If you camp their for the first time make sure you have enough sewer and fresh water hose to make your connections if you have a mid-point service bay like a lot of 5er's have. - Jim W1
Jun 2019 - $47.00
We stayed here for a Rally. Had a great time. Appreciated the Fresh Gravel on our site. Our site was more unlevel than usual due to the Park being on a slight Hill. - AL RVer
May 2019 - $45.00
Very clean and spacious campground with plenty to do. Only complaint we have is no cable and over the air TV was poor. Most sites are not satellite friend. WIFI was very good where we were. Site 229. - bcarroll2552
Sep 2017 - $28.00
This is a nice little park in southern Indiana. There are only about 8 sites that can accommodate large rigs. But they are relatively spacious and nice with full hookups. The smaller sites are in the woods, and are also very nice for small to mid-sized trailers and tents. Almost no one was staying there the Sunday night we stayed. That made it very private. Bathrooms were dirty and we didn't use the showers because of it.
Park staff are only available Mon-Thurs. But we were able to book the site the next day by asking for a call-back on their voicemail. The campground and park access road is a little narrow and curvy for large rigs. So we disconnected and drove the car ahead to watch for traffic - maybe not totally necessary. - EVO_Bob
Sep 2017 - $32.00
While $32 is an excessive amount of money, the rv sites were very close and the restrooms were very dirty. It is handy and just off Rt 50 for an overnight, but not good for much more. Access road coming down to CG is narrow and twisting. Even though the CG is posted as a "fee"area and not accessible to the general public, there was a lot of traffic, both foot and vehicular, through the CG area that did not appear to have a reason for being there. I would be hesitate to park and leave my unit there unattended although several people appeared to do so. - hartk
May 2017 - $15.00
This is a County Park with only the first 8 sites as FHU pull thru's. The entire park has only 30 amp service & the rest of the sites after #8 are water/electric only. The park office & manager are not always open. Manager can be somewhere in the park at any given time. There is a camp host at site #9 but, if you're a first timer (like we were), you won't know this. We were lucky as we were just pulling into the parking lot, the camp host was just driving out, there was no one in the office. He escorted us to the entrance & campground. Also, DO NOT enter the park from State Route 7. The roadway from there into the camping area is very steep, narrow & winding. Enter from S. Gumm Street (residential), follow signs to the campground & site #9 to find the camp host (if you don't already know your site number). Once set up, you will find a very quiet, serine campground that is very well maintained. There is lots of playground space but, no pool or close swimming opportunities. Sprint cell service is "OK" and OTA Tv is available from the Louisville, Ky area & satellite reception is easy from the first 8 sites, the rest are in the woods. - rracer5
Sep 2019 - $38.00
Strange directions to the park-over,around,here,there due to GPS misdirections. Once in the park was pleasant. Owners very pleasant and helpful. Offered choice of sites. - FrederickC
Jun 2019 - $30.00
This is a nice campground for travel trailers, tents, and fifth wheels. This is not a good place for motorhomes. Roads are narrow, gravel/dirt pads. No full service, dump station. - Lizk
Jul 2018 - $36.00
We got in late and the woman was very nice about helping us get a site. It was raining. She asked if my husband could pull the electrical cord under the RV because the site was on the opposite side. In the rain? No! We had to go in backward, through a large muddy hole on the site. Then the people next to us had used our electrical and all the water taps. When my husband went to plug into their outlet he got shocked. Wading through mud! We went back to their house and told them what happened and they didn't seem to care. Probably fine in sunny weather, but horrible if it rains and some sites flood. Do not go there if it is raining or looks like rain.
Looked like there were a lot of activities to do there. Nice store if you needed any thing.
Sites where we were are close together, but other areas appeared to have more room between them. Sites have barbecues but no tables. - GMC On The Road Again
Sep 2013 - $16.00
I would not recommend this park for motorhomes longer than 38ft. They have placed boulders and light poles on the corners of the site making it difficult to maneuver in and out. Our pad had the sewer drain in the middle of the pad so I had to crawl under the coach to connect. Electric and water were on the wrong side. Very narrow gravel parking area because of the patio and hookups. Many residents work, so you have traffic noise early in the morning. Owners are slowly making improvements. - Westside
May 2012 - $28.00
Very peaceful. Park is about 30 years old so was a tight fit for our 45 foot motorhome. Owners are working on upgrading the sites. Everyone was very friendly. Not much in the way of entertainment for kids unless they like to fish or bring their own things to do. Nice state parks within an hours drive. Would stay again. - David and Debbie
Oct 2011 - $25.00
Thorntree Lake campground is a very peaceful, quiet place, with long pull throughs and gravel sites. Each site has a cement patio and fire ring. The owner, is very nice and made sure our stay was great. The property is well maintained and has a spring fed lake with big fish. We stayed there for several months this summer and will definitely return. - User2306
Aug 2019 - $33.00
This park is just OK... nothing special. You pay an entry fee just to get in the park. The bath house was convenient, but needs some updating. As usual, no hooks in the bath house, or shower mats/benches in the showers. - Dennis D
May 2019 - $25.00
Our site didn't easily accomadate our camper & truck AT ALL! It took awhile to get a hold of anybody by phone & when we did, she said someone be there right away. An hour later he showed up! It was storming, so when he showed up we were parked! Roads were EXTREMELY TIGHT to maneuver. It took fellow campers to help us get out the day we left. - dallas 66
Oct 2018 - $23.00
Great park in loop A we stayed in had 3 restroom /shower areas which was nice on busy weekends. Plenty to do at Park hiking trials, mountain bike trails (fee) pool in season (fee). The only reason for not a 10, is signage could be better directing you thru turns in campground. Most sites in campground A will need leveling some quit a bit, our site was at a dead end easy to get into but if you have a large unit careful planning to go around the cul-de-sac for sites 81 thru 86 looked to be best to go around the right side . The other loops looked to be level but mostly full sun. All sites appeared to be paved in all three campground loops. - Steph and Jim
Aug 2019 - $38.00
I was in town for a week working. They allowed me to check in late Sunday (2:00 am). The road going in is narrow but wide enough to get through (not a deal breaker). The sites are well laid out and easy to back into. I had full hookup, good water pressure and 50 amp electric. Wife LOVED the pool, very well kept and clean. I will definitely be back the next time work brings me this way. - TimNDeanna
Jun 2019 - $34.00
This is an RV Park which is close to I-65 but accessed via a very narrow road. It is heavily trees and gravel roads and sites. While clean it has many full timers who do not keep up there units or sites. We were first assigned a full service site, #72. The trees kept us from backing in our 37' fifth wheel. After several tries we asked to move to a pull through with water and electric only. It was level and clean. The fire ring was a semi wheel and picnic table was very old. We were able to get some dish channels via a tailgaters unit. This park is difficult for larger units. Overall good rating but would stay somewhere else if nearby park was available. - Columbus340RK
May 2019 - $45.00
The woman at the desk when I arrived was friendly and helpful. I had no problems finding my site. The campground publicity notes that this is "heavily wooded" and that is true. I didn't have any problems navigating but you do have to be aware of the trees as you are making turns. I would suspect that those who use satellite might have a problem with the trees. I don't, so no problem for me. There was no sewer on my site but the water and electric worked fine. I never could get the wifi to work. The site was level, and getting out of my pull through site was very easy. The next time I come to this area, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. - MFTDoc
Oct 2016 - $35.00
Called ahead and asked for a place by the pool and under some tree coverage and verified there was wifi access.I was assured we would receive all three amenities. We asked the person who met us if we indeed were parked under shade trees and were again told we were. We get to our spot which was right by the pool but there were no shade trees. I mean we could SEE them from where we were parked but none near us.The pool was completely unsuitable for all but the frogs that called it home with 10 inches of water.Major maintenance is required to get this thing usable. Falling apart and concrete missing, metal thrown in like it's being used for garbage.
We felt deceived but had already paid. After a couple weeks of some very strange traffic I called into the Sheriff's department when the Deputy on duty advised me he would probably not stay there with his family. We witnessed underage drinking as well as numerous other sketchy activities. I never felt personally threatened, but would advise caution for travelers with kids.
We tried the little restaurant and was not surprised to find the food was unremarkable-at best-but the service was awful. The woman seemed annoyed that we actually ordered off the menu rather than using the buffet.
The owner while seemingly nice lied to us regarding the 3 major things we requested over the phone. She informed me we had access to wifi but when we got there she would not relinquish the pw to us claiming she did not know it and the server at the restaurant told us nobody ever gets it.
I had a difficult time contacting the owner when calling (which really should have been my first clue)-I kept getting the "restaurant" and the owner was the only person who would discuss sites but was never around.
I would not go back as things are. This was clearly a very nice place at one point. If someone were to take some care and renovate the park and pool, maybe add a little security..I would consider giving it another shot.Until then-Beware. - Hart_Serenity
Jul 2005 - $22.00
Need better direction signs inside the park. Had to ask 2 different people directions to office. Last one led me to location in his golf cart. Interior roads are gravel. Very friendly staff. Passing through and will stay here again if in the area. They have a restaurant on the premises. - RockenL
Aug 2014 - $1.00
Old, old, old campground that has CLOSED since our visit last year. This was an excellent location for shopping at the outlets across US31. - Teacher's Pet
Sep 2013 - $25.00
This campground is closing for good at the end of October, 2013. - TX Camper
Sep 2012 - $20.00
Older campground with narrow gravel sites, but 36' Class A with 4 slides fit easily. 50 amp power, water and sewer for $20 per night a great deal. Just off I-65 near Premium Outlet stores and several restaurants. Stayed overnight and would stay again. Cash or personal check only. - Travellin' Tina
May 2018 - $15.00
Great tiny park. RVparking is level, hard surface with water and electricity up to 50 Amps. Electric post looked new. Water is below ground but easy to hook up. Dump station and port-a-potties nearby in park. Picnic tables. Backs to River. Big field, basketball courts, playground equipment in good condition. This is a real gem. About 10 minutes off of I-65. Registration at park service building 3 miles away. - Gurleymon
Oct 2017 - $15.00
PROS: $15/night, electric and water sites, dump station, river, playground, short walk to town. Cops patrol the site three times per night. The only highlight of the town was Not Just Popcorn, a global seller of 400+ flavored popcorns. CONS: High crime rate. Deliberately parked us next to a derelict RV, who had visitors wielding a sword and axes, cigarette smoke smell from the derelict RV, AC running 24x7. Smelled like garbage. I initially parked one space over from the derelict RV, to put some much needed space between us and the smell, the constantly running AC and the eyesore, but was told to move to the next site. We reluctantly complied. Edinburgh had many neglected buildings. Neighbor said there was drug activity about 200 ft from RV campsite. Had to clean up trash around our site. Many cigarette butts around the sites. No river walk. Bike path was only .1 miles...unusable. - tdrager
Aug 2017 - $20.00
This is a very small city park with zero frills. It is not convenient to I-65 and you go through some small streets to approach the park. Not much of anything is nearby; mostly a depressed area in a very old neighborhood. The rig next door appeared to be dumping sewage on the ground very close to the fresh water hook up which I reported to the park office. The dump site had dried tissue spread across the parking area and who know what else was mixed in with that stuff which I also reported to the park office. This could be a very nice park but we didn't feel safe outside after dark; some long term/permanent campers who were not friendly at all. One pro is the office staff was nice and helpful however the office is several blocks away from the park and is difficult to get your rig into the park office lot. Stay here is you have no other options. But if you do stay, call ahead and ask if you can park your rig then come to the office for registration in your tow vehicle. - Paya
Aug 2019 - $59.00
When we checked in for our prepaid FHU site we were told that due to the first come first serve policy all that was available was an electric and water only site in Phase 2. No wifi, no sewer, 30 amp. Site was very unlevel gravel. Utilities are ancient. Pool and bathrooms in a different area. Staff attitude is "too bad, we're busy, and we're full of folks with reservations." Never mind our prepaid reservation. Never again. - Craig47
Sep 2018 - $40.00
This is thousand trails/koa?? Stayed in koa section that was kind of swampy but close to a fishing lake. Nice pool and playground. Thousand trail section is large with many permanents and golf carts cruising everywhere. - Bjb1775
Jun 2016 - $38.00
The main staff is the only reason this review is as high as it is. The campsite itself was clean, our pull-through site was huge, and the staff was very kind and helpful. My low review, however, is specifically to the pool staff. We were swimming in the late afternoon, and there was a good sized staff of lifeguards of 4 or 5. They must've had friends swimming, because, despite all the guard towers, they all sat in pool chairs on the same side of the pool chatting with each other, their friends in the pool, and taking pictures with their phones. Yes, at least 2 of them had their phones out, taking selfies!
We only stayed there for the night, but the place had a good friendly vibe to it. I'm not sure if we'd stay there again, but I would warn, not necessarily discourage, people from staying there. - JKBuzenby
