We were seasonal campers at this camp ground for years. It has steadily declined in seasonal campers because the owner increases the rent every year, while not maintaining the grounds or stocking the fishing lake. They spray chemicals in the lake with total disreguard for swimmers using the beach area and anyone fishing. The spraying boat has a huge pump that sprays what appears to be copper sulfate (blue] right where you are trying to fish and blasts the swim area also while swimmers are still in the water (including kids]. On more than one occasion, parents screamed at there kids to get out of the water because of this. This happened on a Sunday. Really? We have since also pulled out permanently after dealing with this nonsense, Could go on and on with other things we have witnessed but will stop with this. The owner seems to only care about the money, and the camp ground reflexs this. - iwashere

I checked in after seven. Jim the camp host was very friendly along with everyone I met. I got set up and them walked up to the "store" to pay. Long walk. mix up on my site number, but was handled quickly. I understood the fees as the park is more amusement for family than for an overnighter . Site had been mowed and left the clippings behind, must have been a foot tall before mowing, Jim said they had a lot of rain. - captjer

Pulled in to Modoc & went to the store to check in. Was given a map for our site. Got there about 5 -6 pm. The 1st night set up and just walked around the camp grounds, let the kids play at the play ground. Not sure of our site number, last row near the street. Very noisy from road traffic. Folks seem to haul it down this road. The next morning we ate breakfast & we headed to the pond. Not a lot of folks there as most pulled out that morning. There were about 10-15 folks swimming. Some very young 2-3 years old. My husband and myself were sitting on the beach area watching our grandkids swimming. They were in the pond about a half hour or so when a boat spraying something was on the other side of the pond. We ask a couple that was sitting near us if they were full time here or visiting and if they knew what was being sprayed. They had stated they were full time & had no idea what was being sprayed. There was another couple who was there visiting. They had ask the boat driver what he was spraying. The boat driver ignored him. My husband went over to the boat driver and ask also. He ignored him also. My husband noticed the boat driver was wearing gloves, long shirt and long pants. My husband ask if this stuff he was spraying was hazardous because of him being completely covered while he was spraying. He finally answered and said state regulations. We told our grandkids to GET OUT OF THE WATER IMMEDIATELY. Several others were screaming the same thing. We all went to find the owner and find out what was being sprayed. The owner stated he did not know BUT he would bring us a chemical paper of what was being sprayed. The 1st line read Hazards to humans and domestic animals. DO NOT get on skin clothing in eyes -mouth or inhale. To achieve desired control with herbicide in flowing waters (which this is not), a minimum exposure period of 3 hours should be maintained. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Rec'd a refund of 1/2 our swimming fee and our camp fee for that day. Loaded up and left immediatly. NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN. - Loandiva

I really enjoyed staying here. We tent camped for the Labor Day weekend. When we got to our site, there was an RV there, so the people moved it. We had no fire ring or picnic table, but management brought us those items within a reasonable amount of time. There were many activities from community wide garage sales, to Bingo, to a DJ at night. They also had food on site such as breakfast and chicken dinners. The restrooms were not very clean, but I feel it was more due to the campers messiness, than staff's lack of trying to keep clean. They were here often cleaning. The only "dislikes" I have in regards to this campground were that: 1. People weren't made to clean up after pets so there was danger of stepping in doggie doo quite often. 2. Campers had to pay to use the pool. I feel that if you are already paying $25.00 a night to camp, the pool should be included. It was only $1.50 but it is the principle. Overall, this campground was a lot of fun. The people were friendly, and there were always a lot of activities to keep all ages busy! I would definitely come here again. - Shelleystarr2753

This campground is currently in transition, it has a new owner and they are slowing cleaning it up. This CG was allowed to become run down for years, new owners are trying. This CG is huge with 400 sites and almost of them have old trailers with porches and structures build around them. Many sites are 'for sale' as the new owners are forcing them out. The weekend camping sites are in a nice shaded area close to the bathroom. Water is from a well and has a slight sulfur smell, the hardest water I have ever used, even with a water filter. Lots of golf carts, lots of weekend party type crowd, and even a few beer bottles laying around. The bathroom has a sign to remind people to remove beer bottle from the bathrooms. Has a large swimming pool, several games of Bingo on the weekends, and playground for the kids. Has several lakes with reports of good fishing, catch and release. It's far from Paradise, and was a running joke with our group. If the owners clean up a few more run down trailers, warn you about the drinking water, it might return to being a Paradise. - damonbeals

This park may not even be open now. When we left, the managers had quit and the owner never showed his face. The electric was okay, the sewer had exposed lines, the water is literally not potable and you are warned not to use it as it is loaded with sulfur. - Cyberdave-1

We stayed fairly close to comfort station, and found it a busy traffic site. Well shaded, and good water, trash removal, had picnic tables and campfires are allowed. Most sites are pretty well graveled and reasonably easy to level a camper. They have added water view cabins, and most of the park provides for easy fishing access, and water view.
Friendly staff, well security patrolled. Really need to improve the sewer dump station. It would really make it a better park, if they installed sewer connections and upgraded the restroom and shower facilities. - Jacobsen
Jul 2010 - $25.00
Stayed here due to the close proximity to the Muncie 70.3 race. Mostly seasonal campers. The daily RV sites have only a 30 amp outlet and water hookup. They are generally narrow, unlevel and scattered with trash. Can't figure why folks don't pick up after themselves because there are large trash cans every couple sites. The grass isn't mowed often. They have primitive tent site closer to the one bathroom/shower. Although the bathroom is old it was fairly clean. The staff is friendly and helpful although they allowed another RV to take the site I'd reserved because they were staying longer and they said our 40ft would fit on a site that was made for a 20ft. This isn't a place you would come to "camp" but if you're coming to race or boat/fish it fits the bill for an overnight or two. - cpahog

May 2017 - $20.00
For a fairground this place is pretty good. They have some full hookups, some with electric and water, and some with only electric that are more in the center of what I would assume is the fair activity, like the midway or near the animal barns. We had water and 50-amp electric, and pulled through to take up two spots with our 45' fifth wheel and HDT. Not a problem the way they're laid out. I spoke with the ladies in the office at the grandstand the next morning and they said that taking up two spots wasn't an issue. There wasn't anyone else around, and with 600 total spots.... it's self-service, pick your spot and leave the money in an envelope. The showers are in the campground/Speed building. They were pretty awful. They looked clean and had really good water flow, but the water didn't drain so even if you shut it off when you weren't rinsing you were still standing in 2-3 inches of water. Fortunately the cement rim kept it from overflowing into the rest of the bathroom, which was fairly clean considering it's near a horse barn. We think there might be another bathhouse with showers, but with the park empty the only one open was the one closest to the horse barns, where people were pretty active with the trotters. It was fun to see them working the horses. The sites would be very close together (and are designed for much smaller trailers) if they were all full, but the only time that happens is during the fair. We had the whole area to ourselves, and it was wonderful with all the green grass and huge shade trees. Plenty of room to pick a site with or without trees, as you choose. There's no non-fair camping during the month of August. No reservations, just come on in. You can ride your bike around the fairgrounds, lots of paved roads, and of course there are the horses. Rustic accomodations, no picnic tables or fire pits, but it rained most of the time we were here anyway. We would stay here again if we're in the area. - Denise and Glenn
Jun 2011 - $15.00
Keep in mind this is a Fairground, but large area for walking or riding your bike. Grass Sites, some full hook-up, some with just electric. Close to grocery and fast food. Great Steakhouse across the street "Fairlawn Steakhouse". We stayed for a month. Eldora Speedway is maybe 30 minutes away. Dayton, Ohio is about 30 minutes away also. There is a "Kitchen Aid" store downtown where they sell mixers & small appliances. If ever around the area I would stay here again. - RVman3252

Sites narrow and close. Interior roads narrow! Long way off of I-70 - not really conducive for an overnighter! No wifi. No TV. Very clean. Nicely groomed. Lots of seasonals with well maintained sites. - CSM Carolyn
Sep 2017 - $54.00
This out-of-the-way campground is way over-priced compared to most parks in America for what you receive. The price quoted was a weekly rate with discount. For that, we got a gravel site with concrete patio pull thru, picnic table and fire ring. What we did not get was any cable TV, low water pressure, and very poor wifi (owner hot spot) along with gravelly, uneven roads that were very tight for a 42 foot 5th wheel. Most of the people staying here were seasonal with only a handful of overnight sites available. This part of Ohio (near Dayton) has a lack of nice RV parks in convenient areas. - DIXIEDUALLY2013
Jun 2017 - $50.00
Arrowhead Campground is exceptionally clean and beautiful. It is well-maintained by the owners who are personally involved in the upkeep and maintenance. I don't think anyone can find a campground as meticulous as Arrowhead. Our only negative as reflected by the rating I gave as being "Satisfactory" is that if you are looking for a one-night, in-and-out type of campground while traveling on I-70, this is not the place. We passed by other campgrounds which were much closer to the highway on our 10 mile journey to find Arrowhead. It's not even in the same county as the others, so don't be fooled by the New Paris designation for it's locale. However, I'm very glad we found it and stayed overnight. It's a superior, but pricey, campground for the casual traveler. - rvrose

Visited mid October for a two day stop off. Camp is remote, quiet with a good boat launch into a no wake fishing lake. Wooded sites are primarily crushed rock, moderate spacing with water and 50 amp service. Water stations are shared between sites so a longer hose is recommended. Wooded lots have slight to moderate grade, several with direct lake access. There are also many level, full sun sites in grassy area. Bath house was freshly painted with even fresher spider webs that are not routinely removed. Otherwise functional. Several well maintained easy walking trails to wear out dogs and their owners. Our wooded site was frequently dropping hickory nuts on the roof for added excitement. Probably limited to this time of year. Overall a nice state park that we will return to for future leisurely stop offs. - Newfwagen

Summit lake is a beautiful lake east of Indianapolis. After Labor Day, he beach is closed, and most people appear to be there for the fishing. The campground is divided into two loops. The first loop is open, sunny, and relatively flat. The second is in the trees. Some sites are more level than others. All the sites appear to have power. The pads are gravel, or at least there's a bit of gravel sprinkled into the grass in each site. When we stepped out of our motorhome, we stepped into ankle deep wet grass. There are "shared" water spigots around the campground. People with long, long hoses were hooked up. There wasn't a single site in a mostly empty campground where our 25' hose would have reached, so we used the water in our tank. The electric hookups were closer than the water, but so far back from our site that we ended up using our extension cord to get power. The bathrooms were basic, but get the job done. Cell service was fine. - AnnP
Sep 2016 - $25.00
1st time back in several years, returned due to upgrade of electric hookup to include 50amp. As with most Indiana State Parks, this park is well maintained. Service locations are acceptable, but 50 feet of water hose is needed for shared water faucet between sites. As full timers we carry 100 feet of hose at all times. Our site was easy to level on, others were uneven front to back. - Teacher's Pet

This is a pretty park in a rural setting. There were mostly long-term residents, but the park was clean and well-maintained. There are 6 long, level pull-through sites in the front of the campground for short-term campers; unhooking would not be necessary. The sites are close to the highway, so there was some road noise, but not enough to bother us. We would stay here again. - FranM
Jul 2018 - $40.00
We were greeted by a friendly person who gave us some interesting history about the campground and then escorted us to our site. It was very nice! This is such a cute little park with treed sites and a creek running through the back. The campground is older, yes, but very well kept up. A small pool was near the entrance. The restrooms were clean and well lit. The grounds were nicely kept with blooming flowers and lawn ornaments. I would not hesitate to return. Just walk around and enjoy the grounds. I took several pictures of the flowers and decorations. Quite lovely! - sssccckkk1952

We stayed here for three nights while visiting the Dayton, OH area to see the Wright Brother's history. The park consists of predominately seasonal residents. We arrived on a Thursday night and were escorted to a pull thru site parallel to IN 227. Quite a bit of traffic all day, but it slowed at night. By Friday the park filled up with the permanent residents and they parked where ever they could around their sites. We were planning to leave early Sunday morning, but had to wait until full light, so we could navigate around the parked cars. The place was okay for the three nights we stayed. The pull thrus seemed to be reserved for transients. Some people pulled their campers in backwards due to the way the lots were set up for the grass and fire pits. One thing that concerned us were these trees everywhere that were either buckeyes or horse chestnuts whose fruit kept falling and made a loud bang when it hit someone's camper. Luckily we were not under any of these trees. I walked my dogs each morning. I had to be careful of the fallen nuts, but the park was level enough. There's a nice creek in the back of the park too. Overall it was an okay place to stay for hour purposes. - SillyAnn

I really liked this park. We arrived midafternoon for an overnight. Our site overlooked a pond and was clean. About two/three minutes from Interstate 70. As others said, the road in was a bit old, but our 28 foot class c had no issue. We didn't encounter any low hanging tree branches that got in the way of our rv. Wifi was okay, not great. - Lucy7513
Jul 2018 - $46.00
The sites are very close to rigs and vehicles and roads which made it very difficult in maneuvering the turns of the roads. The campsites and parked trucks caused us to hit low tree branches causing significant damage to our 45ft RV. This KOA is not for big rigs. - Karenbh

Plenty of open spots as we passed through Muncie, Indiana. You'll need to phone in / email paperwork if you plan on staying over the weekend as staff is only onsite during the weekdays (we visited off season). A Sheriff Department Substation exists on the Fairgrounds. Since Deputies travel in and out of the facility all day and night, one could not ask for better security. You'll want to enter though the South Entrance - off Wheeling. You'll see plenty of room to turn around if you decide not to stay. With friends in Muncie, we plan to return here numerous times in the future. - Todd and Heather
