We stayed in a cabin at Caboose Lake when travelling to Indiana for the Purdue Ohio State game. Normally we would have brought our fifth wheel, but since this was a quick two day trip late in the season we elected to rent a cabin. Positives for the Campground: The staff was friendly and check-in was very easy. The cabin was clean and spacious and had a nice view of the lake. Overall I would stay here again in a cabin when returning. Negatives for the Camgpground: The roads were narrrow and were not well maintained (lots of potholes). The campground is right next to I-65 and had the worst road noise I have ever experienced. The sites are narrow and because of the way they are angled require a "u-turn" to enter them ... this turn would be very difficult to maneuver in a longer travel trailer or a fifth wheel. The sites are also narrow with multiple trees on them so would be difficult in a unit with slides. The campground has a storage lot in the back that is filled with junk (rusty trucks, worn out single wide mobile homes, a bunch of propane tanks that are well past their useful life). My wife and I concluded that the campground would not accommodate our fifth wheel due to size and concluded that while this was a good cabin campground it was not a good RV choice for larger units. - Greg and Kim

Large campground surrounding man-made lake. Mainly back-ins, some pull-thrus. Has 'packed-in' feeling. Single shower room for entire campground. Building is relatively new but lacks cleanliness. Just off interstate, but not a lot of highway noise. Roads dirt and gravel. Staff young with little adult supervision. Not very helpful. Some planned activities for holiday weekend.. Would not return - grandma0942

Park is located next to I-65 so expect some highway noise. After that it is all down hill. Roads are very narrow with potholes and it had just rained, so they were full of water. Turn around for pull throughs extremely narrow and short. Pull through site was very narrow with mud puddles on both side so both motorhome and car became muddy. Tree close to slide outs, did get them out though. Afraid to put jacks down as ground quite soft. Would not recommend this park at all. They seem to be more interested in the water activities. - Red Crewzer

We had visited this campground in 2016 and was very dissatisfied and wasn't impressed at all. Since this new owner has taken over last fall it has changed tremendously. We are so impressed by the new owners consistently updating the playground, he has put in a bounce pillow, putt putt course and adding more next year, the general store is well supplied. He certainly wants the children to have a lot to keep them busy. He is enclosing the pavilion for bingo, bags (corn hole) and meeting/food for bad weather. The campground is kept clean and accessible. We will definitely make this a permanent place for our camping needs. - rjhank

All I can say is NEVER AGAIN! Stayed here one night and we should have left before the night was over. We would have got more sleep and felt safer at a Walmart parking lot. This park is mostly full time campers who do nothing but party. Singing and loud music up until a big storm came through at 1 am which I thought would be the end of the partying so we could get some sleep. I was wrong, once the storm moved through (which flooded the campground) at 2:30am the loud music came back out along with the yelling and partying.. That was the worse of staying here, along with it was we had no picnic table, I had to use three hose's just to get to the one water faucet that supplied water to four camp sites. If I could have gave this place a zero I would have. - Rwake901
Aug 2016 - $43.00
Pros: The staff are super nice! We called ahead, to see if we could arrive late. Unfortunately, It was 11pm when we arrived, and they were friendly and very helpful! We even tried to tip them, but they refused to accept a tip! She drove husband down to view the lot in a golf cart first. Lots of activities, pool, store, fishing, and Saturday night DJ. We stayed a few weeks, and the first half of each week, it was quiet. Heavily treed, lots of shade. Kept up nicely too. I didn't use their showers or restrooms, but did peek in and they were clean. let us park 2 vehicles and camper
Cons:
Near the end of each week, it gets pretty loud. There were permanents across from us who partied outside til late each night from Thursday through Sunday. Lots of tents Fri-Sun, which is fine, but we had a huge storm and the tent area flooded almost to the tents! One couple abandoned tent that night, and retrieved it the next day. The lots aren't very level, or at least the two we were on weren't, so you may want to bring lots of wood for leveling. The wifi was being upgraded the first few days. We had none. Then the next few days, I had some access after I bought a wifi extender to point up at their office. Movies played on Netflix, but I did have to refresh several times. But that's understandable considering all the trees. My antenna boost picked up no channels, so we were left to watch YouTube and Netflix the whole 2 weeks on our laptops. I ended up buying a hotspot for my phone since there was poor reception, and barely had reception enough to make calls. But, with all the cons, we continued our stay, because the park is clean and the staff are so nice!!! One even brought our $3 change to our camper, because they didn't have change at that moment in the office! My husband told her to keep the change. But she brought it to him a few min later and said she didn't feel right, and they are not out to be crooks. Lol. We really appreciate that kind of people :-) - Jesus_is_Lord

Very nice host - working from his home he was happy to show us to our site when we pulled in to camp at about 8 PM. This is an older camp, with a newer owner who is working to spruce up the campground with his wife and son. This is not resort camping. We enjoyed the mature trees and the campground was very quiet, as most of the campers are permanent with residents not staying in their trailers. I think only one other RV was stopping in for the night. The area has been hard-hit by the economy, so visitors are appreciated. - AluminumCloud

This is a wonderful campground that is now under new management. The atmosphere is very friendly and fun for all. I have been going here for 10 years and it has improved greatly! There are activities for adults and kids at least once a month if not more. Everyone there is very friendly like family. The restrooms are clean and the office is nice for the kids if it starts to rain. They have a TV in the office and several games for the kids to play. I would recommend this site to anyone and have recommended to friends and family and once you come you will continue to come year after year! - Patricia V

We tent camped here over the Fourth of July week, and will return this year. Every year, we have camped at different campsites around Indiana, and this is the first that I would return to during a holiday. There was a wonderful playground for the smaller kids. Thrasher's Woods held a dance for the teenagers. They also have a wonderful stocked pond for the kids of all ages. Do not worry if you forgot to bring live bait, for Thrasher's woods sells night crawlers! The staff was very helpful, and very respectful. There was a little bit of noise at night, but the staff worked well to limit it to an acceptable murmur. The bathrooms could have used a little more upkeep, and the pool got overcrowded during the hottest parts of the day. Please keep in mind that this was over a long holiday week. I am very much looking forward to camping there this Fourth of July, and during non-holiday weeks this summer. - nicknick_78

My fiancee and I thought that there was going to be more to do at the IBcrow campsite, they only had the swimming pool which looked to be clean, we didn't get in. The value for the site is a bit too much, we could had stayed at a hotel for the price. Not much to do but utilize our camper. The Indiana beach campground & IBcrow share some of the amenities but they are all on the Indiana campsite ground. I saw a mini-golf course, game room, water slide and other activities for families that need some TLC , looks run down; we didn't use any of the campground amenities due to this. Our site was 83 and someone was in our space when we checked in; we didn't know this until we drove to our spot, we had to call the office, the lady asked if we could just move into the space next to it, we did but they need to get this together. There was a lot of ant hills everywhere we stepped, the grass was not in good shape at all. The space needed much more gravel then that was there, very unlevel. There was no garbage for each site, we had to walk to a dumper at least 4 to 5 times a day, not convenient! We enjoyed ourselves inside our camper for the most part and enjoyed a little outside time while BarBQ..... - BernardNAngie Route290

This is the 2nd year of new owners , things are looking better. The upper level camp sites some of them tend to flood in heavy rain. should lay fresh gravel in sites. Nice pool and the new splash zone between campgrounds was great. our picnic table the table boards needed replacing very warped. - Steph and Jim

STAY ELSEWHERE IF YOU HAVE KIDS! Couldn't sit outside with our 9 year old with neighbors talking about smoking Crack on one side and the others WASTED drunk, swearing, very loud music and fighting until 2am! Told park services next mmorning and our second night was same deal! Couldn't leave here fast enough! Brown water! Only positive was free shuttle to amusement park. Mainly used for contractors working in area and drunken hillbillies. Too bad because the place has a lot of potential to be a nice facility if had security monitoring the grounds to keep riff-raff in check. Spent 2 nights inside our camper....:( - Billie J

This was our first time staying at Prophetstown, we've been to the park and the nearby battlefield before but not the campground. We'll definitely be back if we can get a spot; the CG fills up a year in advance for most summer weekends so plan accordingly. Book FAR in advance for summer weekends We stayed in the full hook up (Spruce) loop where the sites are more shaded and private. The electric (Savanna) loop is open with beautiful views of the prairie grasses. This park is a gem in north central Indiana and has a ton to offer. Paved biking and hiking trails, well-maintained grassy hiking trails, a water park, fishing pond, Native American museum, working historical farm, activities at the farm and museum. We only stayed 2 nights and would have loved to stay longer. We went to the water park which was $5 per person. It's on the small side but does have 2 fast & fun water slides, a lazy river, shallow zero-entry wading area, volleyball net, and a splashpad. To enter the park, there is a daily fee and for us (we are out-of-state) it was $10 for the weekend because we were camping. DNR regularly patrols the campground. The sites and bathrooms are the most maintained I have EVER seen at a state- or government-run facility. Grass was cut, fire pit was clean, and the crushed gravel site was combed free of debris for our arrival. I saw no garbage of any kind anywhere. Very, very clean! The site was level as they all appear to be. It rained quite a bit the first night we were there and the site drained perfectly, no pooling of water. Can't wait to go back! - EllenT
Aug 2018 - $33.00
Probably the best designed campground (state park, private, or national park) that we've visited. Nicely spaced with gravel pads that allow water to drain. Wooded sites are cozy and private. Easy for big rigs to navigate. Very quiet, occasional train and a little traffic noise. Plenty to do between hiking, biking, and water park. Plenty close to Purdue University. Would definitely stay again. - rwthomasjrfamily
Jun 2018 - $35.00
Beautiful park, once you take the long drive to get through it. Our site was a long and level pull thru with good hookups (except our site 108 had a sewer pipe about 8 inches high - tough to make water run uphill!). FHU section had several empty sites and the electric only sites were barely 1/4 taken. Our only other complaint is the location of box to deposit hang tags when exiting. It is low for cars/trucks but, if in a motorhome, one has to get out to deposit tag. Good friendly staff and glad to see they enforced one vehicle per site rule. There were many parking spaces in lots. We would definitely return if in the area. - wallysmom

Stayed one night in a tight little pull-through. Bathrooms were somewhat primitive, initially dirty but cleaned by the morning. It was tolerable for an overnight but would not want to spend more than one night. Rather expensive for what was offered. - Skip Pratt

Very small sites, area is dirty, older couple was extremely rude. This is also a high theft area so watch your possessions. - Full timers traveling for work

Older campground. Sites are tight for a larger rig (we are over 60' with toad) so call ahead to make sure they can accommodate you. We stayed one night on way south so can't comment on area. Backs onto the Wabash river. Lots of trees. Owner friendly and helpful. Nice CG for smaller rigs. - K&J

The only bad thing about Ross Camp is getting your GPS to find it. Once we were finally able to find it, we were very happy with it. Our camp site was gravel on top of grass but very level. There is electric power but no sewer or water hookups. However there is a dump station and water available from a couple of faucets. When we tried to check in we discovered that nobody is in the office on weekends, as this is a county park. Luckily we had prepaid months ago and were told our site number. OTA TV was surprisingly good...but no Wi-Fi and no bars on our cell phones. All in all it's a beautiful little campground even though it's very remote. When we arrived there were seven sites occupied. By the next morning there were three of us left. BTW-- while walking our two little dogs I saw a Fisher (cat) loping across the field. It actually a large weasel but was cool. - dhaney1944
Jun 2016 - $21.00
This place is soooo pretty! We were the only ones there on a Tuesday night. All the sites are back in, but they are spacious. All gravel except one for handicapped which is paved and has a paved sidewalk to the bathroom. They had water and 50 amp service, but no sewer. That was fine with us for one night, but hard to stay for any length of time. They do have a dump station though. For 21$ it was perfect for a place to lay over for the night. - GranNan06
Aug 2012 - $15.00
Excellent experience. Exceptionally clean restrooms and showers. We were the only campers present. 15 spaces available. Electric hookup, potable water available and dump station. Quiet, and 11 miles from West Lafayette. - grapeidea
