Beautiful grounds with many shade trees, quiet, grassy, easy-to-find off of I-80. Self service check-in: grab a spot, fill out an envelope with your $20, and you get full hook-ups. Bathrooms are a little neglected, we didn't use the showers (2 stalls for each gender). Best for self-contained campers. Sites are grassy with gravel base. Not terribly level, but only a few sites were taken, so we had quite a choice and made it work. A very pleasant calming spot, especially for an overnight. Lots of mosquitoes in humid flooded Iowa this year! We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Multiple purple martin houses next door - great fun to watch them hunt at dusk. I realized the next morning that we could have walked into town.

Hi is located in a city park next to the high school. There is self registration and you fill out the form and turn it in. My site was pretty level and on a stone pad with grass that had grown through so hard to tell where the pad was. They had water, sewer and electric. There was someone who was racing around in a car and gunning their engine until around 9 p.m. (where are the police?) This was annoying. Fairly easy in and out off the interstate. Facilities were fair but in need of repair and clean up. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed 3 nights while visiting friends in the area. We would highly recommend this park. Nice small play area and a library book box the children loved. Sites were fine. All proceeds go to the local 4-H club. The only downside is the shower house. It was not clean but we have our own shower so this wasn't an issue for us. The town is quaint. Great park and aquatic center nearby. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great spot for an overnight or even a longer stay, if you're so inclined. Good electricity and water pressure. The fairgrounds are located on the very south end of town, about 2 miles away and easy access to/from I-80. Verizon cell and 4G LTE work well here. Very quiet until about 7 AM when it sounded like the same guy driving all around the neighborhood in his loud truck right up until we left. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Avoca is kind of neat to walk around with it's old and well maintained architecture. Within a short 1/2 mile walk from the fairground you can sit down to a steak dinner at The Olde Main St Grille for a very reasonable price.

We used this park for one night and really liked it. It has no real bathroom facilities. Pay by putting money in an envelope and put in in a slot. There are lots of tree and yet you can get a satellite shot. The place is basically grass (which was mowed) with dirt roads. We were one of four people in the park. It was quiet and felt safe. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

The sites are long and fairly level. They are on grass, and the interior roads are dirt with lots of potholes. It would probably be a good overnight stop, but since it rained the night we pulled in, it was a big mud hole. The restrooms were closed and locked so I can't tell you whether or not they're kept clean, but judging from the outside of them I'd say "no". There was a car at the camp host's RV, but we never saw him. We just walked over to the restrooms and filled out an envelope there and put a $20 bill in it. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a fairgrounds park and not a destination park. It was perfect for us because we had lost the power steering in our car, which we noticed leaving a park about 40 miles away. Visited this town to get it fixed and it was done about 3 PM so rather than try to make up the day we lost, we drove 1/2 mile south to this park. The only other person there was the workcamper, a very nice older gentleman. The sites are grass; some are lumpy due to previous camper tires, and there are scattered trees. We did not have any difficulty getting satellite TV, Verizon data and AT&T cell phone signals. Small town, excellent and fair auto repair and a good home cooking restaurant. It was a great place to stop overnight, only about 2 miles south off I-80. We would definitely camp here again. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is owned and operated by the county fair board and has little funding. It is not well maintained and some of the campers here are long term for various reasons. It is a safe but crude park. Mostly used by over nighters and people visiting in the area. This corner of the state is very short of decent campgrounds. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Ok site for an overnight stay. About 2 miles off I-80 and easy to get to. A little tight for large rigs. Sites are grass and rutted in some places. Lots of low hanging trees. There was a racing event going on when we arrived making it hard to get in. It wrapped up by 10 so noise wasn't a problem. Payment is a Dropbox. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

Avoid this park for many months. It was so dug up and muddy we had to unhook and back into the school bus lot to turn around and leave without getting stuck! We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

I am rating this as a campground and not as a resort. Thus the lack of pool etc does not factor in. Do not be put off if you do not get anyone on the phone. This is a self service register as you get settled system. $15 for 50 amp and $10 for 30 amp service. The area is nicely groomed grass, gravel drives and sites (mostly grown over with grass. Nice trees appropriately trimmed. There were no others here when we stayed overnight. This would be a great place to hold a rally or have a music jam. The showers, while clean had peeling paint but who uses them anymore anyway. It appeared the hot water heater was set rather low but if you used all hot a shower would be comfortable. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.

You pay on the honor system. The sites were roomy and easy to pull through. We were here in the off season, so we had a lot of choices. Smooth entry and exit paths considering they were dirt with a little gravel. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

I gave this a rating of 6 only for the fact it had no wifi, which I like to use. The tv service was good and a nice neighborhood area to walk in. The small town was close by also. The price was great for a nice quiet stay. The fair no longer exist there. We had checked out another camp ground a few miles down the highway from them and glad we had passed that one up, this was 3 times less the price and got a better welcome at the fairground campgrounds. We would stay here again. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Restrooms & Showers need to be remodeled. They were not clean. The camp host offered to have them cleaned. We were only there for the night so we used our own. Site was level with gravel. We had no problems. Site was long in length to take us without unhooking the car. (40' + car) It is a fairgrounds. Roads were okay. No internet, on the opposite side of town from Hwy. Quiet park. Would stop again for overnight. Price is right and spaces are accessible. We camped at Pottawattamie County Fair Campground in a Motorhome.
