Easy ingress and egress, which is important to us in a 40' Class A with a tow-behind. Roads are easy to navigate. Showers were clean and convenient and the office/store was open late. Utilities require 50' of water hose and a minimum 20' for sewer. Concrete patio with picnic table and all sites were level. No reservations: first-come-first-served. Would have given it a "10," but it did not have pool or laundry facilities. Had a nice playground for the kids, sold firewood and had recycle bins. Camping World just down the road about 2 miles. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Swimming lake, kayak and paddle boat rentals and a large playground on different part of the park nearby (Gate 6?). The next campground north from Gate 5 also has beautiful campsites with hookups for water and electric.

Other than being directed to the wrong area for the type of site desired, it was ok. Quiet setting. No reservations taken, and I got the last spot available at 4:30 on a Sunday. Arrive early or call to see if sites are available as they don't take reservations. You find and occupy a site and then go to the office to pay. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed one night on the way south. While there I experienced problems with my electric trailer jack. The park ranger was incredibly helpful in trying to unjam it. Also, we were there before the busy season. Since the sites are very close to another I'm sure our experience would not be as peaceful during peak use than what we had. We really like this park. We have stayed there before and I arranged our trip so we could stay there again. All sites are first come and first served as they do not take reservations. Gate 1 is water and electric only, Gate 5 is full hook up. Our site was pull thru and cement, long enough for us to unhook and still fit the truck on the site. we were right in front of the bath house which was nice for a overnight stay. We picked our spot, set up then went to the office in Gate 5 section to pay. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean and well laid out campground and a bargain for full hookup and 50 amp power. Nice level site. Was able to maneuver my 40 footer after unhooking my toad with little effort. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Motorhome.

Popular, beautiful, well-managed campground. Sites are gravel and grass, level and treed. No reservations but call ahead and office staff will tell you how many sites were open at the last "site count" and some folks do hitch up and leave in the late afternoon. We got there at 1 p.m. on a Wednesday and got one of the two open sites and saw a third RVer wait about 30 minutes for another site to open up for his rig. Office folks are cheerful, helpful and have a fine collection of maps, brochures and tips for travelers. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We LOVED the Mississippi River Visitor Center at Locks & Dam 15 which supports river barge and boat traffic on the Upper Mississippi River. It is managed by the Corps of Engineers and located on the military compound of the Rock Island Arsenal. To enter the Arsenal compound, go to the Moline gate to get a pass to be in the Arsenal area.

We were driving across country on our way to Vermont and saw kayakers in a lake near the Interstate. Weary from many miles, we wanted to stop and see if we could soon be enjoying the water and in no time, we were. It was mid week and the different campground areas were only sparsely inhabited. It was easy to find a great spot. We had water and electricity. The campground is clean and spacious.

We kayaked for an hour and loved it. We are whitewater kayakers and this was lake kayaking but what a respite from the long hours driving. They have paddleboats and kayaks and a tandem kayak will be coming soon. Life jackets are provided. We biked to the lake from our campsite. We loved it here. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Motorhome.

Summit Campground is at Gate 1 and this is a very nice campground with gravelled and grassy sites that are nearly level. There are only water and electric available but the dump station is very accessible and convenient. The park ranger comes by in the evening to collect the fee and is very cordial and helpful. The campground host is just as helpful and polite and gave us a few pointers about how the place is laid out. The campground gate is closed and locked at 8:00 PM and is unlocked at 6:00 AM and things were very quiet throughout the night. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely try to stay here. Gravel sites that aren't very level. It's a first come basis. Gates to park are locked 10PM. If you come back after that you leave your car in the parking lot. We stayed at the Park Terrace campground, which is at gate 5. They have full hookups. If you go to Summit, you have to come back to gate 5 to register. Summit has water and electric. If GPS tells you to make a left on 110th Avenue.... Don't, go RIGHT if coming off the highway. Would camp here again. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Motorhome.

Very clean park family friendly nice hosts. Nice lake beach to swim in with very good life guards boats and paddle boats for rent. Nice fishing. I rated 9 because I wish my youngest could have worn a life jacket in the pond for safety and to give her more independence in the lake. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a relatively small area with lots of mature trees. Very well maintained. Level, gravel sites. Excellent bathrooms: clean, lots of hooks and racks for your stuff. Trails accessed from the campground. Quiet. There are 2 campgrounds - pull-through sites at Summit and back-ins at Terrace. We would definitely stay here again. The lady in the office was very helpful. The park is wooded with hardwood and a few conifers, and shade in the August heat was more welcome than having DirecTV from our dome through the trees. We couldn't get a satellite, but we got lots of local channels on our crank up antenna. You cannot make reservations so it is first come first served. It was a bit dicey since we were here ahead of the Labor Day holiday. Our spot was level. The water is quite a distance from some sites so you may need to have a longer hose and the sewer hookups in some sites may need a longer hose as well. The electric service was spot on. There is a picnic table and fire pit in each site. We really do like this park and definitely would stay here again. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Motorhome.

This was an overnight stop for us. It is part of a very nice county park and our type of campground. Paved roads; level, gravel sites; sites are well spaced with grass and trees. Plenty of room to walk the dog, our Verizon/Sprint phone/hot spot worked well. Not a whole lot to do in the area, but would be a nice place to stay for a few days to rest. We would stay here again. This is an awesome CG, just our kind of place. Easy parking for our 45 ft MH. All sites have full hook ups and 30 and 50 amp poles. At $21 per night hard to complain. They don't take reservations. We came on a Monday before 2 pm and there were many available sites, 1/2 full by evening. On Tuesday the CG was 3/4 full. All are back ins. Water connection is far and you may need 2 hoses. Many hiking trails and a lake (about a 3/4 mile walk or a 5 min drive) with many activities including boat rental and swimming. If you like frisbee golf there is a very challenging course. We would come here again. We camped at West Lake Park, Summit Campground in a Motorhome.
