11 RV Parks near Drakesville, Iowa
Oct 2019 - $11.00
We had a great pull-thru site with a view of the lake. They were in the process of add new gravel to the sites. Staff was friendly - they even let us pick a different site than we had reserved (but we were there mid week - so might not always be the case). - RichR
May 2008 - $16.00
We had a spot right on the lake - but it was being drained. This is an old CCC park that has some wonderful facilities, but the campgrounds need some updating. Roads are tight but doable. Restrooms were fine, but limited. It was OK for our visit, but I'd hate to see it at capacity. But they say there are some improvements in the works. - LEHogie
Oct 2007 - $11.00
Very nice park with a lot of the sites having at least a partial lake view. The roads were wide enough to accommodate larger RV's. The sites are somewhat terraced and seem to become more level farther from the shoreline. Although there was no water on site, the spigots appeared to be spaced good enough so that with a few sections of hose you could refill without moving your RV. The deer were pretty thick within the park and on the area roads in the late afternoon and early mornings so be cautious while driving. - RKL
Oct 2016 - $14.00
This is a decent campground to stay in. Of the 12 sites, the outer 4 "pull through" sites are the longest. The 7 pull throughs and 1 back-in in the middle rows are of various length. A couple sites might be long enough to stay hooked up, but the rest would require disconnecting the truck or car. I believe all of the sites would require leveling, as none of them appeared level to me. The gravel roads and sites were in good condition. There was a paved patio with picnic table at our site, as well as a fire ring. Water pressure was fine. 30 amp receptacle at the box was dirty, preventing a good connection, so we had to plug into 50 amp instead using an adapter. No dump station on site is a bummer, but there is a dump station on the other side of town at the Fairgrounds that is available. This park was quiet and peaceful, with nice scenery. $14 cash fee was placed into a drop box. 9 of the 12 sites were occupied during our stay on a Friday night. - KeystoneTT
Aug 2011 - $14.00
This little park built by the Davis Co. Conservation Board is a gem! 12 fairly level gravel & grass sites, all pull-through. The 4 sites on the perimeter are suitable for any size rig. Picnic tables, fire rings, 30/50 amp electric and good water. Clean and new bath-house. If there were a dump on site, it would be darn near ideal! We meant to only overnight here, but instead decided to stay 4 days. A number of ponds with bass, bluegills and crappie dot the area, with lots of trees and pleasant walks. Two beautiful cabins are also available to rent. Bloomfield is a charming little town as well. We'll be back! - Cheese Queen

Good spot to spend the night. Ownership is in flux. Mostly unlevel grassy sites with a nice view of a good size lake. (almost lakeside) Much work is needed from sites to restrooms, but for the price and electricity, it is a good deal. Friendly staff. - RV AK
Jun 2018 - $17.00
This is an old city park. It was built in the 60's and little has changed. The sites are in clusters of 4 and might require extra power and water hoses depending on which site you are located. The sites are a mixture of concrete on dirt / grass. As mentioned it is a city park with many activities going on by the locals. Security is by the police periodically driving through. It is conveniently located next to Hwy 34, however there is not much road noise. After checking in, you just pick any vacant spot. There are no discounts. - A hitch and hop
Jul 2016 - $17.00
We stayed here one night on 4th of July weekend. The park was almost full when we arrived late. It had been raining so everyone's firewood was wet. Smoke was so bad that we closed our windows and vents and ran the AC. Our site was water & electric. There was no CATV. We could not connect to the WIFI. Cell service was adequate to use as a hot spot to access to the internet. Access roads inside the park are good. the sites were easy to back into. The toilet building is not adequate for the number of people using it. - R V Camper
Aug 2012 - $15.00
We spent a quick overnight here and that was all we needed, and wanted. We managed to find a pull-through site because the site behind us was unoccupied. The electric service worked well. The water pressure was about 80 lbs. so make sure you use a regulator before you hook up. Many of the other campers seemed to be permanent: antique old RVs that don't appear able to be moved, even though there is supposedly a 2 week stay limit. We didn't have any problem but did not feel secure either. Although we didn't use them, we did check out the restrooms to see if improvements have been made since the last review. We are happy to note that security locks are now in place on the entry doors to the restrooms, meaning the general public does not have access. The facilities appeared to be clean but as a previous reviewer stated, there is no enclosed dressing area for each shower and probably no economical way to fix the situation either since all walls are concrete block. It was noisy at night too. The park borders busy US Hwy 34 and the trains are not far away either. We heard train horns all night long as they issued their warnings at the many grade crossings. All in all we were glad we were only staying one night. - RVeron
May 2013 - $15.00
This park used to be a state park that has been taken over by the county. The only amenities you get are electricity and peace and quiet. For us, that is the attraction of this park. You can't beat it for a relaxing weekend getaway. There are hiking trails down to the Chariton River and a huge stone shelter house with the largest fireplace I've ever seen. Fire wood is available at the entrance also. There is a nature center and some deer fenced in for kids to admire. Location is 2.8 miles east on Hwy. 2 from the intersection of Hwy. 5 in Centerville. Turn south on 248th Ave. (gravel) for 3/4 mile, then east on 250th Ave. for 1/2 mile. All sites are gravel as are the interior roads, but there are tables for each site and plenty of trash cans around. We found the sites to require some leveling of the trailer but not too bad. This park is best for units under 40 ft. At least 2 sites are pull through. There are pit toilets and no showers, but there is water and a dump station at the entrance. - bipeflier

Nice small park in a small town. Just off Hwy 2, but no noticeable noise. Easy in and easy out with wide roads. Definitely big rig friendly if you get a pull-through site. Good water pressure and o.k. wifi. Antenna tv got the major channels. Would stay here again if in the area. - TH travelers

This is a small city campground in S/E Iowa. It is well worth stopping and spending a day to visit the Amish / Mennonite communities in the area. The sites are all gravel and fairly level. - A hitch and a hop
May 2016 - $10.00
Rate reflects Access Pass Discount. This COE campground is pristine. Grounds and restrooms are very, very well maintained. Camp host was extremely helpful even when we arrived on his day off. There are many sites with water views. Reservations can be difficult to obtain for weekends, however, during the week it is very peaceful and quiet. Our only complaint is for a large rig it is difficult to find level sites. We would not reserve site unseen on line due to this fact.
There are other COE campgrounds (Island and Bridge View) in the area which have more level sites for big rigs.
Verizon Cell phone signal was good. - Wgcamper
Sep 2015 - $18.00
I believe we were overcharged for a 30amp, and no discounts were offered (guess we should have asked as we do belong to a couple groups). Loved it though. Spots are big and level, so peaceful (busier during summer I imagine as it is a beautiful lake for water activities). Close to Centerville for some shopping or even a movie. Do wish, however, that it had full hookups. We will be back, and have our spot picked out! - Enjoying_Retirement
May 2012 - $17.00
Nice paved roads with gravel sites. Has fire rings at each site and baths are conveniently located. Nice lake for boating and fishing. Close to Honey Creek Resort state park which has a motel, restaurant, water park and golf course. These are all accessible without a park vehicle day use permit. Wish there were some walking trails. - rhadley6
Aug 2016 - $18.00
This campground is great for views of the lake; however, the gravel road leading in to the campground is TERRIBLE. Not sure if we would come back here just because of the 3+ miles of very bad gravel roads. Our motor home was throwing stuff all over because of the very uneven surface and poorly graded gravel.
The restrooms on property were the worst smelling I've ever been to.
The positives almost outweigh the negatives though: great views, close to the lake, walk down an embankment to sandy beach (technically not supposed to swim from, but we did anyway).
There is a small playground for kids, no swings. We stayed in Loop A, which was about 1 mile down from the entrance. This park is VERY big. Also close proximity to the boat dock. Once in the park, the roads are paved and in good condition. Our only issue was the few miles of gravel road to get TO the park. - Travelaire
Sep 2011 - $9.00
Great Corps of Engineers park. Fairly typical services for a COE park. No water available in the "A" campground but spigots around in "B". Rate is the "Senior" rate. Very pleasant and very quiet. - User988
Jul 2016 - $10.00
Picnic tables were in need of repair and/or replacement.
Park appeared well maintained.
Rules were not enforced by park attendants. Basic rules of park like no parking cars on grass areas of camping site, more than allowed number of tents, etc., on a single campsite were not followed. Patrols by ranger, law enforcement & attendant did not address these issues. - Iowa Native
