Worst campground ever! We rented a space for the season. Many pages of rules! And believe me, if the owners think you've violated a rule, like walking through the grounds instead of using the designated gravel roads, you WILL hear about it. If your child is out after 10pm, you WILL hear about it. If you have a visitor who doesn't want to fill out a registration form just to enter the grounds to pick you up, you will hear about it. If you like walking on egg shells, then this is the place for you! There are a lot of wonderful destinations nearby and many, many other campgrounds too. Take my advice, reserve your space and stay anywhere other than Lakeshore RV Resort. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We are here for four nights and I don't think we have ever been in a in a campground this noise free! The owners are very nice and have been helpful. Everything is clean and well cared for. Nice selection of books in the book exchange. Trees are trimmed so clearance is not a problem. Roads were maintained and not a problem for our forty foot fifth wheel. The comments made by previous reviews are good with one exception. I had good WIFI at my site. Some of the sites are very deep and accomidating for long units. It is a very clean campground. The power and water was good. The laundry is on the honor system. You use the machines and then either put the money in a drop box or go to the office and pay. They have an excellent miniture golf course and carpet ball facility. The beach and swimming area is clean. There are several walking trails available in the local city parks. Shopping and places to eat are close. Very little road noise. They do have a daily $5 added charge for electric. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very clean park. There are many seasonal campers here, but no clutter on any sites. The owners are on site & take great pride in their park. Most sites are back in & long enough to remain hooked up if only staying overnight. Water & electric are located at the rear of most sites. Sewer connections are located on the side of the sites. This is a very family friendly park that offers a sand beach & swimming area on the adjoining lake. They also have a canoe & kayaks that guest can use on the lake. There is also a marked sand area for volleyball or badminton, & a playground for the kids. Bathrooms & laundry are clean. Laundry has 2 washers & 2 dryers. Cost is $2.00 per load & you pay in the office. Wifi worked better in the mornings & slowed during the day. It was very slow on the weekends when the park was full. No cable tv, but plenty of OTA channels with antenna pointed @ 170*. We really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere & will definitely return when in this area. Rate reflects Coast to Coast price + $5.00 daily energy charge. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very clean and well maintained park. We were here midweek and not much going on. There are a majority of very well maintained seasonal rigs here but they must only come on weekends, as it was very quiet during our stay. The laundry room/book exchange is clean. The bathroom/showers are very clean. There were activities listed for the weekend posted on the message board but, nothing during the week (virtually no one here anyway). We did have a couple conversations with the owners and they seemed nice and accommodating enough but, we did get the impression that they do run "a tight ship"! Although there is no pool, the lake has a beach area, sand volleyball, mini golf, playground and canoes & paddleboats. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Typical mid-west city of Oelwein is 3 miles away with nice small town shops and eateries. A large Amish farm community is nearby where you can get most anything Amish made from baked goods, quilts to furniture. The movie site for "Field of Dreams" is about an hour away. A nine hole golf course next to the campground is currently closed and is for sale but, there are other courses close by.

I would have given a higher rating except for three things: utility placement, WiFi, mail acceptance. The water and electric hookups are at the far back of the sites and required all of our extensions to reach them. Sewer was fine. Fire rings were placed close to the rig behind your site and would have caused a problem if they had been used. Thank goodness they weren't. Whoever said the WiFi was good must have used it at 3:00 AM. It was fair for about 20% of the time and awful the remaining. We were not streaming or using Skype; I suspect others were. We were using an external adapter and it usually works great. There was a strong signal but it sometime took several minutes to load a site. Coast to Coast says they accept visitor mail. I called to double check. Yes. When I got there I asked when their mail was delivered. Was told they only accepted UPS and FedEx. Contacted the local PO and picked it up there. Send it to General delivery. On a positive note it was very quiet, plenty of space at sites, good for satellite reception, fair AT&T. Lots of rain while we were there but very good drainage. Managers were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park and pet friendly. However, the owner was very nosy and she was obsessive about noise after quiet hours. Heard similar stories from regular and seasonal campers. People were told to return to their campers because it was after quiet hours but were respecting the rules. Entire weekend seemed awkward and felt as if we were being babysat. Our fire pit was only several feet from our back neighbors. We also had no picnic table. Will not stay here again under this regime. Much better values elsewhere. The campground is supposed to have activities for the kids to do and once again they were cancelled once we arrived. There is a sand pit for volley ball, however the net is gone, the tether ball was missing, and the 4 baskets for Frisbee golf were also gone. All things that I had planned on doing with my children as this is why I pay "resort" prices for this campground. The pontoon for the beach also looked as if something was wrong as it was push to the side of the lake. Very frustrating to bring my family here only to not have anything to do. Sure we can play mini golf, but you can only do that so many times before you can't stand it anymore. If the owner likes you then you are allowed to return for another weekend if not you will not be able to return. I questioned the lack of activities when stated that there would be some and now my family is not allowed to come back because I broke some unwritten rule. Even though the owners break rules all the time by allowing their dog to run off leash. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Not a resort if you are looking for a clubhouse and organized activities, however this park has everything you might look for and none of the things you don't. For example, it is on a lake, with canoes available, a nice beach, a covered pavilion. It does not have major highway, does not have a railroad, nor an airport nearby to make noise. Peaceful, quiet. The hosts are gracious and ready to serve. This is one of the best kept parks we have visited. The rate is Coast to Coast. All major TV networks available OTA. WiFi offered, but we used our Verizon hotspot. We would stay here again. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this RV resort for 8 wonderful days. This park was clean, quiet, peaceful. The owners were so so so nice. They were always busy doing something for someone. So much activity to do here. We were so relaxed. There were a lot of seasonal guest that just as friendly. We would come here again if we ever travel to Iowa again. I can't say enough for this RV park. It was wonderful!!

What a nice campground! Hosts treated us to birthday ice cream and cake on Saturday! Full hookups, 30/50 amp service, graveled, level sites with both back-in and pull-throughs. We were met at check-in and escorted to our site. Lots of space between sites with a picnic table and fire ring. Campground has a beach access to Oelwein Lake, Frisbee golf area, horse shoe pits, shuffle board surfaces, mini golf course, laundry and bath house provided. You get personal service here at Lake Shore Resort. This is one of the cleanest, well-kept campgrounds I have been in. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, clean campground, Lake Shore Resort is your destination! We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Oelwein is the typical mid-western small town, with locally owned restaurants, specialty shops and grocery. Oelwein is surrounded by Iowa corn belt. A great stop over for a night or longer for a relaxed stay.

This is a great little park if you are going to be in the area. There are lots of seasonal rigs but the spaces were very well kept by the tenants. Some appeared to be college students and were quiet and well mannered. LOTS of activities available for those with children or grandchildren. Mini-golf, a little beach, climbing toys, a canoe, etc. The owners are new in the business but appear to have learned lots since earlier reviews as things appeared to be well run with everything under control. There was a "Birthday" party one evening that was well attended with cake and delicious homemade ice cream. A little chance to visit... We would recommend this park to any rv'er that we know. Spaces are primarily on gravel in full sun. Lots of grassy area throughout the park and a picnic shelter with a huge yard down by the lake. Beautiful. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this campground on Labor day weekend, there were many issues. First off we called on Wednesday to get an additional site and were told that they were full. LIES! 5 empty spots. The activity board said that there was going to be things for my children to do all weekend. LIES! Canceled. Then to top it off I am in the bathroom and I hear the new owner yelling at her worker about how she needs to clean and sanitize the bathroom while she is out playing in the golf tournament. She just totally belittled this poor girl! I have camped many a holiday weekends at this campground and this was by far the worst! BRING BACK THE OLD OWNERS! My kids used to have so much fun, they were so excited last year when the fire truck showed up with the stuffed animals. This used to be a fun FAMILY campground, now I'm not sure I will be back. The campsites are very flat, gravel back ins, 50 amp full hook up sites. Not much shade is available in the overnight spots and each site has maybe 10 ft of grass in between sites. This campground has mini golf, volleyball, tetherball, train rides, shuffleboard, swimming beach, canoe, and disc golf all free of charge for guests. We camped at Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.
