We stayed one night while passing through. The staff treated us well and checkin was fast. The interior roads are well marked since most are one way. We really liked our site right on the water even though the river was higher than normal. The sites along the river do not have sewer connections but this is a great park. - Hobbes
Sep 2019 - $34.00
This was a pleasant surprise for a city park. Very large sites with good utilities. Nice walking trails, YMCA next door and views of the river. Some permanent campers but most clean and net. Would stay here again. - Full Timers McC

This is a great rv park right on the Missouri River. Our site was level and hook ups were excellent. The freeway was just across the river, but there was very little noise. We read some reviews that complained about the trains, but they were way off in the distance and didn't bother us a bit. We would definitely stay at this park again. - Admiral II

Right off I-29. Nicely kept park. Active use by the locals but still came in on Saturday morning and were several sites to pick from. Showers and restrooms are amazing. Nice place to stopover as we head North. - Cin-HM4

This is a beautiful park, well maintained, quiet and borders Browns Lake 10 Miles from Sioux City. CG has horse shoe pits, Basketball, volleyball courts, playground for the kids and a swimming beach. Newly constructed Handicapped ramp to fishing jetty and nice big fishing/boat dock that is at the rear of the CG. Restrooms/showers were newer, modern and spotless and also served as a tornado safe shelter. 4 individual shower rooms + 4 individual/private toilet, sink, shower rooms handicapped accessible. All sites are 1st come 1st serve. We came in mid Friday and there were several sites available with one site still available lake side which we took. Numerous trees and sites are spacious. CG did not fill over the weekend which was a surprise considering that this CG was very nice. Have camped for 12 years and been to a number of CGs and never have had a State Park CG to have its own Wifi but his one did. This park is a gem. - Jay Miller

Nice park with gravel backin sites. Most sites have a slope toward road requiring about 8 inches to level on 25 foot unit. Nice fire pits and considerable shade. - Lumpie

We stayed here overnight on our way through to Yellowstone. Sites are level, wider than a lot of KOAs. The staff are AMAZING! They are so friendly at this KOA. They have a little pizza shop where you can call in and they will deliver the pizza directly to your campsite. We also had an issue with a water valve on our motorhome, and we called ahead of time on the way there and they set us up with someone, who came in just after we said we would arrive and he fixed us up for a modest price. He was also very friendly. This is right off of I29, so there is some traffic, but it didn't bother me. I would stay here again. - Ellen Roth
Sep 2019 - $60.00
We stayed one night 9/27 & enjoyed our stay. Yes park is older & not originally designed for big rigs so it's a bit tight. We managed to get to the site (with escort) and depart the following day without unhooking. Reason I say it wasn't designed for big rigs is I needed 20' of sewer hose to reach the sewer by pulling forward enough in the site to fit. Wasn't an issue as we had enough length. Otherwise we had a nice evening and had a pleasant overnight. We camped in a 44' motorhome. - Two Jayhawks

Stayed for 6 nights. The site was C35, an end site. We had a shady site with gravel and some grass. Good dog park. - Sammy23

This park is just outside of Sioux City. It is in a heavily forested area. The park has many trails which were overgrown with weeds and stickers. The RV parking area was very tight and is not designed for big rigs. You can shoe horn it in there but it is very tight side to side and large trees. I will not stay there again. Sites are very muddy when it rains as you have to park the tow vehicle in the site due to lack of space. No Verizon or ATT cell. - Larry and Daphne
Aug 2010 - $16.00
The campground is in a lovely setting. Loess Hills is a heavily wooded area on rolling hills close to Sioux City and has lots of nicely maintained hiking trails. The sites, on the other hand, are a bit odd, and the campground is really geared mostly to tenters. There's 8 sites on either side of the drive-in road which are all on one big grass area (so, no real separation between sites...it's just a grass parking lot). Only one side has electric. We're a 40-footer and just (barely) fit in site #8 (30 amp). A smaller rig came in after us and had to park at an angle to fit. The biggest electric site is #12 which is set up and away from the others. The rest of the sites are for tenters only. So, if you have a big-rig #8 and #12 are really the only options, and you have to be comfortable driving your rig on smaller roads to get there. It's one of the least-visited state parks in Iowa, however, so most of the time we were there we were alone which was nice. Overall it is a pretty setting, but a bit of a squeeze for big-rigs. There's central water, but no dump station. Showers and flush toilets available. Note it is very buggy this Aug. after record rains in July 2010, but I gather from the rangers this is unusual. - nina_70
May 2009 - $16.00
The campground has a lovely wooded setting in the Loess Hills not far from Sioux City. There are a number of trails that originate in or are very close to the campground. There is one very old washroom and a new washroom with showers. The facilities are great in the new washroom but the rough concrete floor gives it a grubby look. Only 10 of the sites have electricity. There is only one site with a level gravel pad. The other sites are grassy and more or less level. Do not come here if you have a big rig. Most sites would be unsuitable for even an average sized trailer. We camped on a weekday in May so the campground was wonderfully quiet. However, the sites are close together with nothing to separate the sites so it would be very crowded if the campground was full. - Stan Wigg

Just an overnight stay. No water at site, but was told water could be available. Would need a longer sewer hose to use the dump station. Cell service was good. Lots of OTA stations. Level paved sites . Quiet even though it was a weekend. We were the only ones there in RV sites. - BigR
Jun 2015 - $15.00
An easy overnight stop 3-4 miles west of I-29, with no road noise. The casino has 20/30/50 amp hookup spaces in parking lot at north end of property. No water that I saw, but there is a free dump station. Wide, long parking sites, in which we were able to easily park our 40' motorhome and toad. Short walk to casino, which had a daily soup and salad bar available in the buffet from 5-9pm for $3.99. The convenience store on the casino grounds had diesel fuel for 15-20¢ a gallon less than the fuel stops we saw that day, while on I-70 and I-29 for 350 miles. The access to the separate "truck pumps" from the RV parking area is very easy. - Teacher's Pet
Sep 2014 - $15.00
Excellent for what it is. 50 amp electric only. Wide paved level spaces and power is adequate. Appears to be security presence. They park idling semis away from the RVs, which is nice, but the truckers are in an unpaved gravel and mud lot. Not nice for them at all. On the other hand, they don't have to pay for the privilege. There are no restrooms in the RV area. There is a dump available but did not use it. You are parked in a parking lot, not a golf course. A little expensive for a casino, though. They raised the price on the sites. Only 2 were occupied when we were there. Lots of semis though. - bluesnugs

Judging from the preponderance of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota license plates in our loop, Ponca SP is very popular with area residents. Our electric-only loop was set in a hilly, heavily treed section of the park. Our site was back-in, nicely-spaced, level, and had a black-top parking pad. Water service available from multiple faucets. Restrooms and shower facility was older, but clean. Dump station was located near entrance/exit to the CG. Verizon service in our loop was non-existent. Heavy tree cover prevented DISH satellite connection. Interior roads were narrow and not always clearly marked, but nicely paved and well-maintained. Lots of nature trails throughout the park. Be prepared for lots of mosquitoes as night falls. Adjacent to the CG was a 9-hole golf course and a huge visitor/education center, that also operates as a state-run conference center. Note: When registering be prepared to pay the nighty fee ($30 for electric-only site) + $8 daily per/auto visitor fee + $8 registration/service fee + state tax. Our 1-night fee was $$46.47. - Kona Boy

Beautiful, woodsy and hilly park. Sites were level and nicely spaced for the most part. Some pull throughs, but mostly back ins. Roads are blacktopped, but narrow and curvy. Might be tough to navigate for some. - NebraskaNancy

No reservations accepted, walk-in only. Quiet peaceful campground with walking trails through beautiful wooded area. Walking/horse trails are not for the weak or frail! These trails have some very steep hills. Trails are well marked and wide. Water is not the best, so we did not use it in our camper, definitely would need a water filter system if you hooked up to the hydrant. I boiled water to make baggie omelets, and had a good amount of sediment in the bottom of my pan when I dumped it. Restrooms/showers were rustic, but clean and had good pressure for showers. Road entering campground is dirt and very steep and had large washed out ruts along the side of it. I would worry about getting out pulling a camper if it rained very much. Small pond for fishing. I would definitely come again, very nice place. - livin'the_life
