Oct 2018 - $15.00
There was no one else camping there when we camped. Nice little park but rather wet and muddy. Our Verizon hot spot worked and we got three channels on the tv! Electric only. - Lynn-Donny
Jul 2018 - $15.00

Dump station available. Wide open grass area with shade trees, you can park however you want to along as you can reach electric hook up. - Bjb1775

We stopped for one night while traveling through Iowa. It was on a Sunday so all was quiet, probably @ 25% full. We camped in the Fogdall section which offered some FHU ($25) and some electric only ($18). See photo of map. Most of the nicer sites are along the main drive as you enter before heading into the circle. Self register at the kiosk as you pull in. The adjacent biking trail afforded us the opportunity to get some exercise for such a quick visit. The only complaint is the campsite itself. All the small gravel has washed away and it is mostly larger (2-3") rocks and grass. Other than that, we found a nice site in the circle under an large shade tree. - Ole Red
Jul 2019 - $18.00
This county park is a first come, first served park. We stopped mid afternoon week of July 4 and there were still a dozen or so sites available, along with the primitive area in the back section. Neat little park, well maintained. Some sites say reservable, but if they are not listed on the bulletin board at the entry shed, the office staff said they are Excellent open to take. The price was excellent for an overnight in a quiet area which seems safe. Honor system. We definitely would stay again. A good rating for us means the campground is adequate for our needs and no major negatives. - busyteach

We had a wonderful stay at Big Woods Lake Campground. We reserved a spot but we were able to switch and get a spot with a view of the lake! (Apparently these spots are first come first serve.) The host and other campers were very friendly and helpful. We had fun fishing and using the walking/biking path. - KC6Kampers
May 2019 - $25.00
It is a great Gem if you like to boat, kayak, fish, bike ride or hike. It is attached to a great lake and 2.1 miles from a great little college town of Cedar Falls. Everything is set for an RV in this park. wide sites, full hookups, fire ring, etc. Camp host are very nice and helpful. The biking and fishing are directly attached to the park. There is an amazing set of trails that you can go just about anywhere in a 40 mile radius. Great Place and a Great Time. - WIKoehl
Oct 2018 - $25.00
Very nice campground on the edge of Big Woods Lake. A few back in sites have great views of the lake. All sites are spacious with FHU 50 service, gravel and grass. This is a newer park so most trees are small, not much shade. Each site also has a picnic table and fire pit. Self registration, checks or cash only. Pull through sites in the center rows and back-ins along the perimeter. Paved 2 mile path around the lake. Free wi-fi. Worked pretty well while we were here, but not too many units here in the fall. Bathrooms were nice, but needed some cleaning. We did not see the camp host in the three days we were here. Great biking trails all around Cedar Falls and Waterloo area. - krb

Decided to try this park rather than stay in a Walmart for the night. Very convenient location to US 63. Was quite surprised when we arrived. Very nice well kept park, it was kind of tight getting around with our 35' toyhauler with lots of trees and had to trim a branch or two, but being very careful and moving slowly was able to back into site 10 on the loop right on the bank of the river. Self serve park, camping fee was $10 +$5 for electricity. Electric was 30 amp. Was one camper and a van when we pulled in right by the entrance, but back along the river we were all alone. We had great Verizon & AT&T Data. Had a dump station and water available. Firewood available for $5 donation. Would have dry camped for $10, but so much shade decided to opt for the additional $5 for electricity. - dmkimm
Jul 2010 - $12.00
Small park with grass sites, 30 Amp electric, lots of shade, fire rings and picnic tables. It had rained a lot when we were here with our 40' MH and we almost got stuck. There currently is no camp host so it is self registration. Bath and shower building was locked with instructions on the door to call if they were needed. We were the only campers in the park. - Jim01

George Wyeth Park recently re-opened after severe flooding closed facilities for previous month. Restrooms and showers presently closed due to effects of flooding. Park will need significant work to clean up surrounding hiking trails and to get facility back up and running to its fullest. Beautiful location along the banks of Cedar River. Camping site provides electric only but water and dump station available. - Gboro
Jul 2014 - $16.00
Mostly level, shaded, quiet sites with electric HU only - water and dump station available. Several are long enough for a 35' fifth wheel and tow vehicle. Nice showers/restrooms. There are tent sites on the river, but RV sites are further back. Good cell reception and a few OTA TV channels. Couldn't enjoy the picnic table, fire ring or hiking trail because the mosquitoes were so bad, but that has been typical elsewhere too. - TheRollingJones
Oct 2012 - $11.00
Rate is their fall rate. 50 amp electric only site. Water and dump station available. Wooded park and campground, nice natural setting. Big back in sites with picnic table and fire ring. Great bike and hiking trails. No Wi-Fi. Good TV antenna signal. Close to town. - krb

This is a new City park with a fulltime park attendant. This is a very clean park, easy access, Wi-Fi, storm shelter, clean new showers and rest rooms. They are in the process of installing sewer and water to all sites however, when we were here: only electric. They do have a dump location and city water near the shower house. We stayed here to check out the barn quilts in this area. - kstrail

OK park. Gravel road in was dusty. It rained during the night and the road was a gooey mess on the way out. Fresh crushed limestone, left a mess everywhere on truck and trailer. An older park that needs a lot of cleanup and work. Very quiet, roomy site. Almost empty on a Sunday night. Nice young lady at checked in. - GOTTOYS
Jun 2008 - $25.00
We stayed for 3 weeks before moving to Oakwood RV in Clear Lake. River Ranch is very woodsy. It is in the area that had flooding this past year so there were a lot of mosquitoes. The owners were very nice and they are working to get the park back into shape after the flood. They have cabins for rent and you can rent canoes, paddle boats and three wheel bikes. You can swim in the river and they usually have plenty of deer to feed in an in-closed area but that is being repaired also. If you are planning on staying for a period of time you would have to go to Charles City to shop and do laundry or to Waverly. We probably would have stayed there but we could not get phone service nor could we get the internet (which is needed for business). It's a good place to go to get away from it all and relax. - tandiee

Sep 2019 - $15.00
This is an older city park. Full hook up sites filled with permanent campers. Water and electric sites were unlevel and unmarked. People parked at all angles making it difficult to tell who was in what site. We had to move twice to find a level site. we would not stay here again. - Full Timers McC
Aug 2019 - $15.00
City park with a campground on the Cedar River. City was burning yard waste nearby and the smoke drifted over the campground all day. Very noisy area with high speed semis using the highway adjacent to the campground and a rail track across the river with idling diesels. Mostly local campers with many seasonals and lots of coming and going. All back-in sites and a few with FHU. Everyone seemed friendly even though they were amazed we were from Florida. - Appleknocker
Jul 2017 - $18.00
The park was quite nice and relaxed. The FHU sites were packed, and we saw almost no turnover in the 8 days we were there. The keep 1-2 FHU for overnighters. There was always sites with just electric and water. Most sites backed up into large grassy areas. Many were well shaded. Tent camping looked Spectacular. Noise from highway was bothersome in our area of the camp. The river was murky, but they had had 8" of rain upstream just prior to our arrival. Decent park for kids with lots of room, tons of playgrounds, easy access for launching kayaks and such. There is also a disc frisbee course we didn't see. We would stop here again. - Sheryl E
