Park was well maintained and quiet. Close to grocery store and fuel.only limiter was limited availability of staff. We were made aware when we called for a site and our information was posted on the door. We would definitely stay here again. - Msmoonsatx

Great park for what it is. All pull through sites. I believe that they are all full hookup. Easy in/easy out just off the intersection of two US highways. Not a whole lot of activities but as an overnight spot it was great. - INLTApilot

Easy on and off the highway, very clean and well organized park. Check is was easy, pleasant and quick, no escort to site. Roads were gravel and easy to navigate, sites are large gravel long and wide and level. FHU's all worked well with no problems, grass along both sides. Just a few long timers. Wifi was strong free and password protected, $2.00 wash $1.50 dryer all machines worked well and very clean room. Very very large grassed area along side the park perfect for letting Fido run, other side was acres of planted corn (it is Iowa) was here in mid August and corn was 8' tall and was able to walk thru like a maze. Railroad runs a mile away and occasional noise, otherwise very quiet park. Verizon 3 bars. Great for short stay or stopover. - Tahoetom

What a delightful surprise! Updog is a very well-groomed cg located beside a pond. Trees provide park-like setting. We wwere given choice of any site. We are overlooking the pond and very private. The bathhouse is brand new and a treasure. There is some road noise, but not obnoxious. - classylady45

We found this park when the one just off the freeway was full. Nice alternative. Very quiet small park. Owner lives on site and was always working around the place. There are some nice ponds on the property with expansive mowed lawns around them with places to walk dogs. Most of the back in sites have large shade trees. We used a more open pull through site. Didn't use the rest room/showers so can't comment on them. We did hear some train noise but not too bothersome. - Nautical Wheelers

Oakland Mills is a county park supervised by the local Conservation Department. The South Shore unit on on the banks of the Skunk River and does flood in some situations. Our campsite included electricity (30A) and a water hookup. Needed an extension cord to reach power outlet. We backed up to the river. Campsites were of a reasonable size, were clean from weeds and trash and at $15 per night for residents provide a good value. The campground was nearly full on the weekend and were quiet after dark. There were numerous people driving into the park to fish from an abandoned power dam and there is a nice walking path/bridge across the river with a very popular small restaurant just across the bridge. The park appeared to be safe and there were a number of young families spending the weekend at the park. We found the campground to be adequate for an overnight visit IF your unit is self-contained. The restrooms and shower house were some distance from the campsites, were open to the general public, and certainly weren't very well kept or well lit. We were in town for our Granddaughter's wedding for a 2-night stay and found the campground to be adequate for our purposes. The campground is just a few miles from intersection of US Route 34 and Route 218. Very convenient to get to. - MissouriBird

Trees and plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy the weekend. Named after the geodes with their crystalline interiors which can be found in river banks and creek beds. Removing geodes from the park is not allowed, but nearby land owners may sell you some from their privately owned land. The park is just 20 minutes from Burlington which is a nice place to visit the Mississippi River and summertime farmer's and, flea markets. The campground hosts were super accommodating. Gravel sites. We will come back again. - AluminumCloud
Aug 2009 - $16.00
Geode is 20 miles from our house. We stay several weekends each month during the camping season. The roads are asphalt and camping pads are gravel. No hookups at the camp sites. Water spigot as you pull in to fill tank and dump station that is easy to get to. Has a play area for the kids at the campground. The park itself is a very nice park with a beautiful lake that offers great fishing. They just built a new beach house and are in the process of building a playground by the beach. - sbebenelli

This is a hidden surprise. It's in the middle of nowhere Iowa, tucked into a very beautiful lake. The state did a lot of upgrades to the park and the campground about 5 years ago and it shows. All the roads are nicely paved concrete, with very nice paved trails around the lake. Lots of parking, boat ramps and picnic tables for day use. The campsites are gravel, and a bit slanted so it takes some effort to level. There are very few trees around the campsites, so little to no shade. The only downside is there is no AT&T or Verizon at the site (or around the fields of Iowa either). But full hook-ups for $20 a night, and a beautiful lake, it was worth it. We will stay here again next time we come to visit family. - Moo1966
Nov 2018 - $16.00
This looks like a small park, but looks are deceiving! All the roads in the park and most trails are cemented, which is great and very rare. I wish I could say that about the campsites. Almost all of them were gravel and not in great shape. We were fortunate to have #24,one of the few cemented pads. Some campsites have full hookups, some just electricity. Nice small lake with a lot of boat ramps and docks and a beautiful park shelter. They also have some really nice cabins to rent. There are two shower houses with flush toilets that close for the season on November 1st. Beware of the wind as it can blow the aroma of cow manure from the local feed lot. All said, it was a nice stay. - Sugar Pie 1
Sep 2018 - $19.00
The campground consists of paved roads and gravel sites. Sites follow the contour of the land and can be very far from level side to side. Roads and sites are narrow making caution necessary on the long curvy entrance road and sharp turns into the sites. Our pull-through site had a picnic table, fire pit with adjustable cooking grate, and open view of the sky for good satellite reception. There is no AT&T data or phone service in the park or nearby communities. Bathrooms and showers were spacious and clean. - never settled
