A decent place for an overnight. Nice trail around the "reclaimed water" lake for walking/running. Great playground adjacent to the park itself. Water and electric worked great. The city of Ulysses is great. We wish we had more time to poke around the town. The museum in town is very nice. - CBird

Nice park setting with a small "reclaimed water" lake and golf course. Utilities are oddly located. Pay at the Bentwood Golf Club building. Paved streets and concrete pads with picnic tables and benches. There is a playground for the kids, nice walking trails and some picnic shelters. Park is somewhat isolated from town and after dark the teens began driving through playing music with the bass cranked up. Also some younger kids were out fairly late on a school night. Although we did see police driving through frequently, we felt somewhat vulnerable despite fairly good lighting. The other RV park we saw on Hwy. 160 appeared very dusty and close to the road so this looked to be a better option. We probably would not stay again. - BigRigTravelerUSA

This is what it is, a parking lot for campers. It does have showers and we were able to hook up cable TV. Spaces very close together, the entire area was gravel, no grass. It is used by construction workers and harvest crews and by me...a traveling med tech. Did have a nice laundry room and 1 bathroom with a shower. - MAT-DAT

Rate per night is $15, plus $5 for second AC. 50 amp service. Great park - sites are spacious with shelters over picnic tables and there is a large playground for the kids. Lots of great shade trees. Previous reviews make note of dirt road in to park - it was a washboard as advertised and there was a fairly steep hill near the park. Also cattle free range here and they were on the road during our departure. Camp host indicates materials available to improve roads once rains stop. We were in a 38' Class A and had no problem with the hill or the turns in the park. There are trains nearby but we did not find them to be an issue. IMPORTANT NOTE: we have Verizon and there was NO cell service. There is a local carrier but evidently they won't share their towers. We did get a local flash flood warning via cell during the night. They also have multiple tornado shelters throughout the park. - Adventures of CinBob

Beautiful scenic park to relax at. Plenty of room between sites. Grassy and a welcome surprise after living in cramped gravel lots. Pets loved the shade trees. Will go again. - Gypsy8

Passing through Liberal recently, at the last minute we decided against another RV park. A quick search online turned up Arkalon, and it ended up being an extremely pleasant surprise. The setting is beautiful, much more pleasant than I had expected to find in that area of the state. It was a breeze to get the trailer parked, a boon to these novice travelers. The water connector seemed to be surprisingly far away, and our water hose was short by at least 10 feet. Fortunately, the campground host had several spares (which makes me think that perhaps this is common problem). The park staff was helpful and kind, and the abundant wildlife was a hit with my kids. That was a good thing, because the "playground" turned out to be just two sets of swings, so if I had a suggestion for improvement, it would be to upgrade the playgrounds. Oh, and while the water is acceptable for drinking, it makes lousy coffee :) Bring along a bottle or two for brewing -- you'll thank yourself! And all this for just $25/night -- Arkalon is truly a hidden gem! - User3639
