After reading reviews, we drove over in the car BEFORE pulling the camper - only 60 miles from home. Roads to the park and inside the park are fine. The road into the campground from the major park road was great - for one camper. If you met an oncoming camper, it will get real tight real fast. Roads inside the campground were two way traffic as some sites were best accessed from each direction. They were not really wide enough for two campers passing. Some turns were tight, and there were trees ready to jump out to greet the novice camper, so beware! The dump station was one sided, so depending on which direction you were going... There was no real convenient place to turn around, either! All sites had water and 30A electric. None have sewer. There were pedestals between sites, shared by the two sites. This means many sites have water and / or electric on the wrong side, and some sites are up to 50 ft from the hookup. Most sites were reasonably level side to side and front to back. Maybe 2 ft front to back change over 35 ft. Others were horrible front to back, especially sites 29 - 34. Some sites could handle a 40 ft camper, many could barely handle a 25 ft camper. There IS a playground. Weather permitting, we will be there this coming weekend. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We arrived to find our reserved site occupied with a utility trailer. No help getting the problem fixed. Sites are small and many no longer have electric service. Park itself is beautiful but old and deteriorating. Be sure you check hook-ups before setting up camp. And, be aware that many sites are far from level. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The Park is well maintained and offers many amenities. As noted above above 1/2 of the camp sites are severely steep and the others will need levelers. All sites share a power pedestal and a water connection and they are 40-50 feet away more or less. Some RVers pulled in forward because the pedestals are on the left of the site for half of them. The Lodge is a gem with an exceptional restaurant. Staff friendly and very helpful. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Motorhome.

If you reserve through Reserveamerica.com their definition of slight grade is more likened to a OTR driver than an RVer. We had what was described as a "a slight grade" but my TT tongue wouldn't go any down far enough to level, it was off plumb (level) for the three days we were here.

We were here pre-season, before Memorial Day. Bathrooms were clean and comfortable. When summer rolls around. It's likely very hot humid and lots of toilet traffic. No sewer hook ups. AC, no, sorry. I could say something derogatory about KY. But really the nations RV parks across North America need to realize the Boomers are coming and adjustments need to be made; because we like to commune with nature but comfortably.

Ok. Shady sites many with water views (slight in spring and summer). Bugs? Yes. Lots of shade though.

It is a resort so you can rent a boat or play a round of golf on the "Boots Randolph Golf Course." The resort Is about 20 miles off of I-24. The sites are mostly unlevel except for the ones near the main bath house. (Top of the hill). The thing that bugged me most; the dump station is located on the wrong side of the street. I had to back my RV up and reroute to get it to the septic dump. Who designed this place? Narrow road in and out. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Travel Trailer.

Land between the lake is a few miles away. Federal land/animal preserve. It is the land that was high enough to survive the construction of Kentucky lake by the TVA and the Army Corps of Engineers. It's interesting.

Amazing little park hidden way back in the woods. If you are a novice R.V. driver stay away, as the roads into and out are Extremely narrow. Also be aware that your connections may be on a different side then you are used to. We have a 37' we needed to pull into our site so that the connections were on the correct side. I did not have any problems finding a spot to get the rig turned around. Once you are there, it is an amazing place. If you are afraid of wildlife, or deep woods camping, move on. The camp host was very nice. There are laundry facilities. We sat outside and used the provided fire ring. The camp host did indicate there is often loud noises in the woods close to you. Could be deer, racoons, bears, etc... Overall this is a hidden gem of a camp ground if you are not afraid of a tight road and wildlife. The price is awesome for what you get. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Motorhome.

The campground is pretty and gives you the feeling of being in the wilderness. Fishing is available. All campsites are gravel and most have a steep slope. You must have levelers. The electrical boxes are shared between two campsites and you will need an extension for your 30 or 50 amp line. The same is true for water. You will need an extension. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Travel Trailer.

This campgroud is showing it's age. The roads in the campgroud are very narrow and the sites are small. Big dropoffs between the blacktop and the ground, even in the sites. It looks like all the soil has washed out. Unable to reach the water or electric hookups because they are between two sites close to the road. Stayed for 1 night. Would not stay here again. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Travel Trailer.

Not a park I'd recommend for larger rigs (35' +). A good place for the pop-up campers or tent camping. Strangest setup of water-electric I've seen, where you split the utilities between two sites. We had to move because our 50' electric cord wasn't long enough. Strange design for the dump station, too. Looks like the place was designed by someone who'd never camped in an RV. Wish there were more staff to help enforce trash pick-up and noise rules. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground but minimal involvement from staff. No information was available on the local area. Sites were well marked. There was beach nearby that was part of the campground. Nice restaurant in the lodge with panoramic view. I would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Motorhome.

Kentucky is in the midst of a fiscal crisis at the state government level, and it sure shows at Lake Barkley SRP. It took months for them to clean up damage from an ice storm in January, but that wasn't all. Broken showers, restroom facilities that were just plain nasty (and that's as nice as I can be about it), and minimal staff on hand are all a direct result of the state cutting funding to a bare minimum. Getting to the park isn't hard, but it is hilly and the roads within the campground are extremely narrow and treacherous, particularly in the rain. Rigs over 25' are going to have a rough time, and be forewarned -- even after all the tree damage from the ice storm, there are a good many low-hanging limbs that haven't been trimmed in years. BEWARE! I mentioned the skeleton staff. We arrived on Friday, and didn't see hide nor hair of a staff member until late Saturday afternoon. I asked if we needed to check in, and he said, "Naw, I see you're here." How did he know we were who we were supposed to be? I also mentioned the restrooms and showers. It's a wonder we all didn't catch some horrible illness from the accumulated filth in the bathhouse. Imagine the worst gas station bathroom you've ever seen and multiply it by 100. It was THAT bad. And if that wasn't bad enough, the bathhouse at the beach was even WORSE! Broken toilets, showers that might work, might not. At least the beach was clean ... As far as provisions, bring plenty of food. The nearest store is in Cadiz, which is about 8-10 miles from the campground. There's a "camp store" on site, but it was closed the entire time we were there, and looked as though it had been the whole time. To add insult to injury, for two of the three nights we stayed, we had loud, drunken neighbors. It didn't help that the sites were THIS CLOSE TOGETHER. Ugh. No, folks, we won't be staying at Lake Barkley SRP again. We've upgraded to a larger rig since this trip, and we'll stay in an upgraded park, too. There are plenty in the area. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Tent Trailer.

A very wooded and hilly park. Be sure to bring some sort of leveling device! The campground is buried deep in the park. Be sure to check out the rest of the park as it is well maintained and has many interesting trails. Although each site has both electric and water, our water hook-up was over 100ft away from the pad! Bring extra hoses. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Tent Trailer.

We liked this campground. True, most of the sites are not level, there is a drop off from some of the pads to ground and utilities are shared between two sites. We never saw the campground host, the site had a trailer in it but no occupant. Also, the bathrooms were never cleaned during our 8 day stay. The campground is heavily wooded with a few of the sites offering a lake view. The roads are paved ( no dust ) and the park offers a large beach area, marina and pool/weight room area ( for a 5 dollar a day fee )and 18 hole golf course. The town of Cadiz - 12 miles away - has several antique shops and 2 grocery stores. We would stay here again - this is a nice state park with lots more positives than negatives. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Motorhome.

Park is in need of a face lift. Paved road through park and paved sites, however, the sites are not level and there was a two foot drop from our pad to our picnic table. Every two sites share and electric and water hookup. The dump station is located in the middle of a steep hill, I had grave concerns about releasing my emergency brake and rolling backward down the hill. Our stay was over Memorial Day weekend and the campground was full. Mostly tents, some sites with up to 5 tents on the site. Campground host site was occupied, but was hardly ever available, and wasn't much help when he was. They have brand new washers and dryers at the bath house that worked excellent. Beach is 0.3 mile hike down a trail from the campground. Private boat ramp to the lake for campers. Nice hiking/biking trail in the park. I would not stay here again. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Motorhome.
