Overall Rating:

First Impression: Quaint, quiet, rugged. Neutral roadside presentation. Safety: no concerns. Access: Exit 29 off I-75 in Kentucky, west past the Love's truck stop, follow signs to the next left. Access road in good condition, good signage, Garmin GPS is accurate. Office: Super friendly staff, token store with snacks and soft drinks, no RV equipment. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. My price reflects the KOA discount. Facilities: Pool, no spa, no fitness room. Small rec center next to office. Clean laundry room. Restrooms/showers dated but clean, hot water with good pressure, some mold, small changing areas, needs some paint (score "A-"). Propane sales. Nice playground. Off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. No storm shelter available. Heavily wooded. Interior roads are narrow, gravel in good condition with close turns; no overhead obstacles but trees line the road. Big rigs and long coaches will be challenged. Tent area and cabins. Sites are all close, sufficiently level, gravel, mostly pull-through, some back-in, minimal landscaping. Pedestals at middle of site with electric 20/30/50; no meters. Adequate water pressure with good taste. Sewer pipe is 4" threaded, 0-4" above level. Only premium sites have patios; aging picnic tables. Fire rings. Poor satellite views (trees). Free cable TV. Free Wi-Fi with good coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 3 bars; 4G at 1 bar. No recycle bins. Noise: Very distant railroad, no aircraft, no local traffic, but noticeable interstate noise. Bug Report (early May): no insect issues but it has been raining. Runners: CG roads poor for running. Yoga: Good mat areas on premium patios. Conclusion: Score 7-Good. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Corbin, KY, is a medium-sized hamlet. Didn't see any major restaurant chains but typical fast-food eateries abound. Big RV dealer (and a small one, too), truck stops (diesel at Pilot-J $3.119 with Good Sam card). Typical banks, churches, Autozone, O'Reillys, Lowe's, and Walmart (doesn't sell diesel).

Nice park with new owners who are renovating the place with new gravel. Our site was poor because we couldn't level our camper no matter how hard we tried. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed here 5 nights to enjoy Corbin. Our site had a concrete patio with table and chairs - very nice. Great WiFi and cable selections. A short hiking trail in the park. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Do Cumberland Falls; nice hiking trails. Taphouse in Corbin was great with 100 Boubons, great beer and good food. Also the drive around the Laurel Lake system was fun. Two marinas with huge house boats.

Changed our trip around and needed an overnight spot. Very close to I-75 but didn't feel like it. Extremely helpful staff that guided us to our pull through site. Off season, so they let us park our tow vehicle in the next site as it would have been real tight in our site. Would like to be here in the Spring Or Summer. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Pros: lovely area, nice hosts, clean & neat. Cons: traffic noise especially at night, no access to the lovely pool which was being serviced, the "Lake Trail" adjacent to the campground. Marked with a sign & discussed on the website. This is a very vertical path, irregular & rocky as well as slippery. Once we got to the bottom, a fisherman told us he had just "hooked a copperhead". It was floating dead in the water-large. We northerners got a bit skittish & scampered back up the hill. The trail is not for the physically infirm or snakeophobes. Wouldn't be our first choice for a return overnight stop. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

I chose a deluxe site (#14) which included a level surface, patio with furniture & umbrella. You share with the "buddy" next door but they have given privacy by bushes between the two patios. Other sites in the vicinity which were regular pull thrus looked quite unlevel. When the park is full it is pretty tight for all the vehicles. Nice pool, etc. for kids. Big grassy area that also includes a dog park. The sites on the other side (#50-95) are larger and seem more desirable but I do not know what utilities are available in that portion of the park. Good location; good road into the park. Helpful staff. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here the weekend before Fourth of July and other than the brutal heat at the time, really enjoyed it. The campground is well kept; looks like new gravel laid throughout the interior roads and sites. The RV park is not far off of the interstate, but feels like you are up in the mountains in a secluded area. The pool was well occupied while we were there; kids and families enjoying the weekend. Lots of room for tent campers and many varieties of RVs. Our site seemed pretty level, but our RV wheels on the downhill side ended up in the air after using the leveling system. We needed to put lynx levelers under the jacks because the leveling system kept showing a fault due to the angle. The laundry room has four washers and two dryers, and last washer load must be started by 8 p.m., as they lock the laundry room door at that time. Site hook ups are grouped together between two adjoining sites, so you are close to one neighbor, but much more room on the other side. Some sites had cement patios and were very spacious. We walked around some and noticed a few resident campers; their rigs and sites were well maintained so they didn't stick out from the rest. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here because we were forced to make a schedule change due to bad weather. Staff was very accommodating with our almost fluctuating schedule. They even made room for our son traveling in a separate camper at the last minute. Staff friendly and helpful. Follow me cart to your site. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

We came in a day early and they accommodated us but it was a very tight spot; they claimed they were full. They had about 10 open sites we could see and low and behold when they moved us the next morning that is where they moved us. I thought it was ridiculous they put us through that. That being said, the final site was a good one. Table was wood but in decent shape. Fire pit was very nice and surrounded with bricks. Nice tall trees. Mostly gravel, not much grass to walk the dogs in. They seem to have more 'permanent' sites in the rear which was kind of sketchy. Confederate flags were flying and I just didn't get a good vibe. There is absolutely nothing to do in this town. We ate at Sonny's BBQ and drove into Corbin hoping to see something. Nope. We are new at this and are learning the hard way how to pick a good place to stay. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 1 night on our way back to TN. The site was very nice though we did not like having to share our patio with another family. We had a major problem with the electrical on this site. We could not get 50 amps from the connection as advertised. We also tried the adjacent site (shared same pedestal) and had the same problem. We told the office of the problem and were told they would send someone to check it out. No one ever came. Ended up running the generator all night. We mentioned the problem to the office again the following morning. They apologized but honestly didn't seem too concerned. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

The staff directed us to a site that did not have the amenities that I paid for and our tow vehicle did not fit. When I brought that to her attention she told me that I made the reservation without a tow vehicle. When I showed her my reservation paper work she told me that those sites were reserved and I could not move. She told me to feel free to park my tow vehicle at the Pilot truck stop a mile down the road. Seems that they were saving sites for their regulars that come on the weekends.

The site had 30/50 amps and free WiFi that worked when the campground was not full. Because of the inconvenience of not being able to park our car safely on the site (we parked it in the road which made it hard on other RV's to get around), we left a day early. This is a very old KOA in need of renovation. It is not far from the interstate, but far enough away that it is not noisy. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Tight campground, tight entry, tight turns, tight and close sites. Pull through sites share patios with neighbor. Breaker blew after 1st week, reply "just happened last week, need to fix again but do not know when". Changed sites to long pull through with 2 sites on behind the other. When asked if somebody would park in front of us, were told "we do not hand out that site". Of course the night before our departure they did!! Agreed with the couple in front of us on their and our departure times to make it work. Too bad for KOA, as the location is great. Based on unprofessional campground crew, we will not return. The staff were helpful but it was as if you were putting them out of their way. The Wi-Fi was terrible at best because the connection kept dropping or was extremely slow. We were in a pull thru site with full hook up (W-S-E 30/50) plus free cable TV. The campground was clean, the cement pad was acceptable, but had to be shared with your neighbor and the facilities were clean. Other campers staying were friendly. Nice resort to stay for a night.
