This small campground is located on the Pioneer Playhouse property, and is offered for the convenience of their patrons. As such, it was a nice amenity to have and enhanced our experience in Danville. We enjoyed a play in the open air theater, ate a swell BBQ supper offered at the playhouse, and toured historic Danville for a day.
The campground is pretty bare bones. This isn't a state park or luxury resort, so you should lower your expectations. It is maintained to some degree, but the sites are a bit short and close together. Most spots are filled with seasonal campers - looks to be staff and actors living there for the summer. Overall, to have a CG within the Playhouse compound is a bonus, even if it's a little rough around the edges. We camped at Pioneer Playhouse Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Danville has many interesting historic sites. Visit Constitution Plaza and the nearby museums. Centre College is also in town, so there's plenty of pizza, brew, and coffee shops that keep downtown hopping.

This is a tight park. The only decent sites are right in the front and even those are difficult to get into. The pull-through sites have concrete picnic tables on each sides and large branches hanging over the top. They are fairly level but there wasn't one that I felt comfortable trying to get my rig into. As far as I was able to tell, there are only two sites that have 50 amp hookups and those are short back-in sites. I could not get my motorhome into one of those. Don't arrive after dark, it's impossible to see anything. Other than that, it's a nice little town to visit. If you're just passing through for the night or there to see the show it is probably okay if you have a small trailer. We camped at Pioneer Playhouse Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

We had planned to stay at this park, but after looking at this campground, we decided to move on. Although there are 36 sites shown on their web site only 17 sites near the main entrance are suitable for RVs. The narrow loop road and sites were on gravel. The back-in sites were over grown and were on a slope. The pull-thrus were long and deeply rutted. There were mature trees that were not trimmed properly. Large sharp limbs could easily cause damage to a roof. All sites have side by side hookups. The other sites (areas 2 and 3) were located in back of the playhouse and were on grass. It appeared that these other sites were not maintained. We have a 32 foot 5th wheel and would not recommend this place. We camped at Pioneer Playhouse Trailer Park in a Fifth Wheel.

They have raised the rates since the last review. They have both 30 and 50 amp power available, but you should check the sites before hooking up to determine what is at your site. Water pressure is strong, so use a regulator. The showers are located in the bathrooms near the theater. We were able to see the play and have dinner. The play was great, the meal was OK. It is a very quiet location and is close to the Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill. We will make sure to visit the park again in the future. We camped at Pioneer Playhouse Trailer Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Not a resort campground; however if Danville is your destination, this is your campground. For $18 this is a good value and a load of gravel would make a 10. We stay here regularly. We camped at Pioneer Playhouse Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

An RV Park attached to a small summer stock theater! What a concept! If you just need an overnight, this will work. If you don't feel like cooking, take in the dinner theater ($27 for dinner and show as of this writing). The shows are only run on Tues - Sat in the summer. The RV spaces aren't much, they are kind of tight for navigating. There are trees for shade, but the trees are located in such a way that, well, you may or may not be able to put slides out, you may or may not be able to put your awning out. I did see some big rigs here, so I'll say "yes" for big rigs, even though the spaces are rather tight. The sites aren't very level. Some of the sites are electric only, some are water and electric. The electric and water connections are "side by side." If you have an "even" numbered space, your connections will be on the correct side. If you are in an "odd" numbered space, you will need extra length water hose and electric cord. Although you can make reservations for the dinner theater, the RV spaces are first come first served. I recommend that you be carrying water just in case "electric only" is all that's available. The cost is the same whether you get electric only or water/electric. There were restrooms to use, but no showers. The office personnel said the RV park rarely gets full. You just pick a spot, then go in and pay. In fact, when I was here on a night when they didn't have a play, they weren't too rigid about whether you pay when you arrive or wait until you are leaving. There is a community dump station, a little cumbersome to navigate around. I got decent television reception via antenna. There appears to be a Wi-Fi, but it was very weak at the RV sites. Verizon Air Card worked a little slow. We camped at Pioneer Playhouse Trailer Park in a Motorhome.
