We stayed 3 nights here. A great campground right on Lake Herrington. Very quiet clean campground. Paved interior roads and sites. Located in a hilly area. Space is a little tight but campsite was large and well kept. Many full time residents but all high end, no trailer park vibe. We camped at Chimney Rock RV Park in a Motorhome.

Manager/Owners were fantastic. They wanted to make sure you were happy and would help in any way that they could. Over half of this park are annuals with only a couple actually living there year-round. This park is right on the lake and so it is more of a vacation spot for people mainly residing in KY within an hours drive is what we found. Lexington is only about 40 minutes up the road so any needs can easily be found up there. The park is small and tight. If you are driving a big rig they will do their best to accommodate you, but only a couple of sites can handle 40 footers. We were in a 34 Class A and we actually moved twice actually staying in three sites. Laundry was 2 washers and 2 dryers with a clothesline outside for your use also. They did some sort of community get together almost every Saturday night, ie Bingo or other games that larger crowds can play. The lake is only about 50 years from the park and there is a marina with a cafe which many people there utilize. There is a small playground for the kids, but the lake is the big drawl for everyone. If I was ever in the area I would stay again. We camped at Chimney Rock RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Great American Dollhouse Museum in Danville was far beyond my expectations. Wish we had planned on being there longer.

Little crowded, several permanent RVs there. Little loud after midnight. Had to pay $10.00 gate card deposit that you get back when leave. We left on Sunday Morning after 8:00 a.m. And no one was on duty to return card and retrieve the $10.00. I left card and my card asking to mail my $10.00, which they did. I also paid $10.00 extra for the pull thru lot, which was in a curve with lots behind you. We camped at Chimney Rock RV Park in a Motorhome.

We went to Shaker Village for Supper and Breakfast. Little pricey but a great experience

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for our visit to the wonderful Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill just 9 miles away. The park is well-maintained. It is on the cliffs over looking Lake Harrington, and crammed full of seasonal guests. We arrived late in the day and got a back-in spot that was a little short for our 30 feet, but we parked at an angle and were able to keep our nose off the road. There is a marina a short walk down the road. We swam our dog there. We were surprised to see the sign saying that the marina charges for launching kayaks and canoes as well as power boats. That area of Kentucky has mostly narrow windy roads, and the road into this campground is no exception. We camped at Chimney Rock RV Park in a Motorhome.

Be sure to visit the Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. Be very cautious about taking your motor home down the narrow road to the wharf to the riverboat trip on the Kentucky River.

Overall Rating:

This park is under new ownership and the new owners will be adding stronger Wi-Fi and cable TV next year. It's in the hills, on terraced sites and quiet. Lots of seasonals stay here as the marina is very close. A beautiful, man-made lake setting. Cell phone service is spotty due to the mountains. TV reception was good for our rig, as was the internet. If I lived closer I'd look into a seasonal site here. Nice place with friendly staff. We were here for a family reunion so spent several nights. We camped at Chimney Rock RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Campground is actually near Bergin and difficult to get to. We stayed here because we could not find anything else in the area. There are new owners are are cleaning up the campground but it is full of seasonal rigs on the water. There are a few spots for overnighters and all backin. Sites are wide and lots of room for slideouts but much too short for anything over 25 feet. We had much difficulty getting our 32' rig backed in and there is only the narrow road to jockey back and forth in because the side opposite the site is hilly. You must back in next to a fence. My rig actually stuck out onto the road a little and no place to park tow vehicle unless there is an empty site next to you. It is very muddy after a rain. Very difficult to side level and required 3" on one side to get level enough to where I didn't feel it would be an issue with the fridge. Wi-Fi is very weak and you much drive next to the owners trailer to receive. No cell phone coverage. We camped at Chimney Rock RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This beautiful park has terraced sites on a ridge overlooking a large, deep, man-made lake. It caters mostly to seasonals, who are extremely friendly and have turned it into a cottage-like setting with very tastefully decorated trailers and fifths. The only negative is the bath house and laundry, which while basically clean, would benefit greatly from a total update. We camped at Chimney Rock RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I am giving this a medium rating for a specific reason. But first a little about the park. I would say that this is a relatively nice park. Everything looked clean and tidy, abeit a bit crowded during our look over. You see, we were going to be in the area working for an extended amount of time and went to check out this park prior to our moving in. We made reservations with them, at that time, very helpful people. We gave them a deposit. Due to circumstances beyond our control however, we needed to cancel our reservations over 3 weeks in advance. Upon cancelling our reservations we were treated very badly. I can even understand keeping a part of our reservation deposit as a cancellation fee, but to keep ALL of it was certainly not good business practice. I'm not an unreasonable person, and will accept consequences if I mess up, but to keep as much money as they did for no services provided is quite unethical. I am not saying that one checking these ratings should not stay at their campground. I would however be very diligent about not sending any money their way till you step foot on the premises. If your plans change, you will get burned. We camped at Chimney Rock RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
