Stayed at the Horse Park for 5 nights. Overall I have a very positive opinion of the park. Excellent roads into and around the park. Lots of grass and most of the sites are very spacious compared to the little slivers of turf and concrete that many RV "Resorts" offer. The pads are paved but narrow so if you have a big rig you will have to work to place your RV squarely on the pad. Electric and water are available at the site with 4 dump stations conveniently located on the way out of the park. As I walked around I did notice that many of the site pads were not very flat and might require some significant magic to level your rig. Overall, pretty quiet at night despite the fact the park was packed (labor day weekend and two major events at the Horse Park). Some smoke inhalation damage to my lungs as the park provides fire pits for those so inclined. The Park staff was efficient and personable. I made my reservation on-line with reserve America and that worked very well. Overall, a pleasant visit. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This was one of the prettiest parks we’ve stayed at. Easy in and out dump stations, pretty sites with concrete pad and shade trees. We’ve already planned a second trip because this stay wasn’t nearly long enough. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Spend a day at KY Horse Park (tickets can be purchased at the campground store). You can walk or bike through the Horse Park in the evening and watch the event practices. If you like Cajun food, check out Gumbo Ya-Ya. Red Mile has harness racing during the summer/early fall.

First time here. Stayed 5 days. Reserved 207 on line. Site, tree shaded was flooded on arrival due to heavy rain. Wanted to change site but could not accommodate. When rain subsided remained muddy entire time. No onsite sewage. Park has 2 dump stations (very well sized and situated). Site is close to office/store/bath house. Very unhappy with laundry facility. Dirty, not enough working machines. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Fun park and we enjoyed it a lot. Our site was mostly level, had water and 50A electricity. It was close to the office and the tennis court. We had a fire ring and a picnic table. I think our site was 246A which was in full sun. There were some sites that were in the shade like 249A but it wasn't as level as ours was. many of the sites are difficult to level and we saw a large 5th wheel struggle on their site. The longer your rig, the harder it will be to level. The shorter, the easier. The bathrooms were cleaned every day and we used them since we had to go 14 days without a sewer. We could have used the camp dump or we could have paid for a honey wagon ($35 a visit) but we decided that it would be more convenient and cheaper to use the campground showers and bathrooms. A good choice. We had no trouble finding an open shower since there were 6 women's and 6 men's - on each side of the park. There was a nice store and a very nice pool. BTW, the concrete pad is extremely narrow. All sites are back in though we saw some rigs drive front in. Lots of people thought that the grass was provided especially for them to drive on. C'mon. Grass is to walk through. Drive on the road and park in your site. The best part was being able to wander around the KY Horse Park itself. We saw quite a few competitions which were exciting: dressage, hunters and jumpers, reining. It was so much fun to sit and watch people and horses compete. All in all, a wonderful experience. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Josie's in Georgetown. Midway Bakery, Windy Corner for meals. The Saturday Farmer's Mkt was very nice. The Visitor's Center has lots of hints about the area. Camp Nelson & Waveland, Mary Todd Lincoln's & Henry Clays' homes were all very good tours. Fasig Tipton for horse sales. Thoroughbred Center for thoroughbred training.

Love, love, love this park! We only stayed one night and regret not staying more! The grounds are stunning with horse country all around. Families enjoying camp fires everywhere, the best pool I have seen at a park in a long time (with a life guard!). Great bike riding and long walks with the dogs. Yes, the sites are narrow, but our 40' Coach fit fine. Site 173 was recommended by previous readers as level for a coach and satellite receptive. Many sites do appear to slope heavily, so do your research. Site 4 looked good too. We will come back and stay longer. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice, large lots. Water and electric only, but the do have 4 dump stations. Large, clean pool with life guards. If you can not get a reservation they do have a fair number of walk-in spots. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Just a gorgeous park surrounded by stunning horse farms and scenery. We pulled in a little late to enjoy the activities and would have loved to stay the second day to enjoy them. But still a great overnight stop. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The good part....the Park is large, very clean and has lots of room to walk, take the dogs, bike, etc. The bathrooms and showers (great hot water and water pressure) are very clean (as there is no sewer available, we used their facilities and were very happy). Great being beside the horse park, it is a great place to visit, as was downtown Lexington, Keeneland Race Track and the Bourbon Trail. Just driving around horse country is great. The not good part....the sites are paved but barely wider than the tires on the rig. Ours was not easy to back into and it took a bit of maneuvering to get lined up without hitting the electric post right beside the site or going of into mud. Smaller rigs will find it easier, but out 43 ft 5th wheel was a bit longer than our site could really hold along with our truck. It had recently rained and we almost got stuck in mud ruts beside the site. It was very full at the park, so the wifi was pretty slow, but it worked. There is no sewer, but there are two very good dump sites when leaving the park (can handle four rigs simultaneously). There are lots of trees, so we reserved a site that had good satellite tv access. All in all, the goods far outweighed the not so goods. Our GPS took us to the address which is the Horse Park. The Campground entrance is about 1/4 mile from there. Two very good dump stations available when exiting the park. We would stay again. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

For a great breakfast at a reasonable price, try Josie's. We had a great server and the food was excellent. It is literally 5 minutes from the Campground and you don't have to get on the highway.

Nice campground that offers some shaded sites, pool, walking path, playground, and clean restrooms. The location offers easy access to the many things to do in the area. All sites offer water and 30/50 amp electric hookups. Sites are narrow with no paved approach paths off the roads so there are muddy ruts in many places. Campers parking on the grass adds to the mess. This is a popular campground so reservations are recommended for weekends and special events. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed here several times, this year in March and April for special equine events. It is a lovely park, nice sites, some not quite as level as others, but not too bad. Love the trees, the nice walking trails and it is clean and well maintained. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

When calling for site availability, call the camp store. Sites are first come, first serve, unless making reservations online ahead of time. We were able to register after hours by selecting our site and putting a check in envelope in the mail slot. Our site was level, so no ramps required. We picked a sunny location, so the satellite worked. Water and electric at site, dump station on the road out. This convenient location in the Horse Park is off the beaten path so it feels secure, yet not far from the interstate. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice large lots. Pads are not angled (and skinny), therefore can be a bit of a challenge to get in/out of. Some sites are not level at all, ours was level. No sewer hook ups, so plan accordingly. We had quite a bit of rain which caused the lots to be fairly muddy. The campground got very busy on the weekend. The horse park is really nice.
