Only stayed here one night. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Had a heavy rain that night. The site was level, gravel covered, and drained quite well. The sites were roomy but a little close together. Very nice and clean campground. Would stay here again when I have more time to explore. - ShadyBill47

One of the cleanest best kept state parks we have stayed at. Camp host and parks staff were always doing something to keep the park clean and neat. Very friendly staff. Site was FHU and we did not have to level. Water and electric was all good. Pad was fine gravel which did stick to your shoes and got tracked into the MH. The site did drain well after a rain. Sites 18 - 32 do get afternoon shade. Playground, boat ramp, marina, and fishing pier all in walking distance. No OTA TV. AT&T signal good. Showers were clean with plenty of hot water and good pressure. Sites are kind of close but far enough that we did not hear our neighbors. Nice and quiet at night. Convenient if you have a boat, kayak, or canoe. - melandme

The access road off KY-40 has about 200 yards of very steep uphill driving soon after you get on it. Might be a problem for someone with a marginal pulling vehicle. Rainy while we were there, but the level, stone parking pads drained very well, I never saw a puddle in one. Bathrooms were clean, we never used the showers, so can't comment on those. I was in spot 6 which required me to put the rear supports of our 33ft 5th wheel off the pad in order to fit. Still had to put the truck in sideways to be off the road. The tent sites are at the back of the park, also on well drained stone pads and were very nice view wise. - av8

This is a beautiful state park located in Eastern KY near Prestonsburg. The campground is just a small part of large, 2,900 acre reserve. The campground is clean and well-maintained. We were here over Memorial Day weekend, one of their busiest, and the grounds stayed in pretty good shape. All sites have electric (50/30/20 amp) and water but only B and C loops have sewer. Sites are generally well-spaced and we didn't feel like we were right on top of our neighbors. Cell service in this area is poor. We have AT&T and found it spotty and weak on B and C loops and non-existent on A loop. We could usually send and receive EMails and texts while on B loop but often could not make a call. Other campers reported Verizon service was poor too. We did not use the bathhouses. There are 3 loops, A, B, and C. "A" loop is flat with level sites while B and C loops are located on pretty steep hills. A few of the B and C loop sites are level but most are not. B059, for example where we were originally assigned, was too steep for us to level our 45' motorhome. I think smaller RV's could use sites like this but larger rigs cannot. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. They worked with us to move to B039, which is much more level, despite the park being sold out for the holiday weekend. We were here for a family reunion and would probably stay here again in the future as long as we could get a site that can handle our MH. - rd9999

Stayed here twice in the last month. Sites in Loop A are more level than Loop B & C. Loop B & C are FHU. Bring extra water hose because water is shared between sites which put hydrant on opposite side of RV. Bath house was clean but dated. No shower curtain between shower and changing area made it difficult keeping clothes and towel dry. Camp store has ice, firewood and beer. Activities for kids and adults on the weekend. AT&T service would come and go, mostly go. Staff and camp host friendly and helpful. - melandme

After reading other reviews of this park we decided to use our tow vehicle to check out the drive to the park and the sites, to validate what others have said about the difficulties they had in getting to the park and finding an adequate site for a large motorhome. We found the drive into the park no more daunting than getting to Yosemite, or driving through the Rockies, for our 45' motorhome. Most of the sites in the park are rather short, and most aren't too level. Others suggested staying out of loops B & C but we found site C80 was the most level, long enough, and would allow us a sat signal on our front mount dish. This site also was a full hookup. The park is clean, quiet, and scenic, and the staff extremely friendly. What else could you ask for? The staff also scheduled a full weekend of activities for guests, from fishing to hatchet throwing. - glenstmary
Sep 2017 - $20.00
The cleanest facilities of any campground we have stayed at. Level sites spaced far enough a part not to feel crowded. Staff and camp host extremely friendly and helpful. AT&T phone service 3 bars. 5 OTA channels. Shower house located at the beginning of the two loops with a flush toilet restroom on each loop. Walmart , groceries, and fast food available in Louisa 10 minutes away. Good location for exploring East KY. - melandme
Aug 2017 - $24.00
The campsites seem so private... you can see other campsites but you can't really hear them. Each campsite is cleaned after each reservation. We have stayed here often and it is one of our favorite sites and the "boat-in" Sites are gorgeous! Lots of nice little hikes around the campground. Dump station very handy and very clean. - BobandCathi
Jun 2010 - $21.00
Wow, clean, clean, clean. probably the cleanest campground we have ever seen. Bath house and individual toilet rooms were clean and well kept. The staff is easy going and its a very quiet campground (which is what we like). The sites are easy for leveling and sufficient for 2 vehicles. The only downside is the distance from Yatesville lake (the main marina). Their dump station is accessible from either side which is nice and the sites are positioned for a decent amount of privacy. We will be back for longer visits. - MountaineerCamper
