Nice and quiet this time of year. We had a back in site which was 50 amp FHU and fairly level. Down side was the neighbors sewer hook up was right in the middle of our patio area, basically under our awning. We spent 14 days exploring the local sites. Will come back again. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Fifth Wheel.

Older, quite hilly park which is clean and well-maintained. Has a mix of permanent, seasonal, and transient occupants. While our site was level, it was downhill from the sewer connection. Park has both asphalt and gravel roads; although hilly they are very navigable. Laundry was clean and had well-maintained machines, although the building is quite old. You can enjoy a porch swing while doing your laundry. No cable TV and limited over the air stations. WiFi in activity center only, but our Verizon phone hotspot worked well for Internet service. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Fifth Wheel.

Put us in the middle row of FHU pull through 30amp sites that are VERY close together and facing one another. There are other 30amp sites but we were not told about those. The water quality was good; electric good; picnic table & fire ring. Tent sites. Big pool; playground; activities; huge grassy areas all over. Laundry $$ Diamond Caverns golf course has a golf cart trail behind office to walk dogs to golf course. Verizon coverage good; OTA TV stations good. There is also a bike & walking trail that goes all the way to the Visitor Center. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Travel Trailer.

We had planned to stay at the National Park campground but decided it was too hot to be comfortable without A/C and didn't know what the generator rules were. So I called ahead to reserve a site here. When we arrived the office was closed but they had our paperwork available. There was a park host when we crossed the highway into the campground who showed us the 3 available sites. None were great so we picked the least worst - as others have said, most sites are not anywhere close to level. The laundry was clean and expensive but the host had plenty of quarters for change. The restrooms in the laundry building were clean but felt like they were built in the 1950s (didn't check out the other building). Pool looked clean. Some of the permanent resident units are in need of upkeep, but the place was generally tidy. Would check out other options if returning to the area. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Motorhome.

I am a thousand trails member so this park is free for me to stay here. You check in across the street. The RV park was great. We were able to get a level site with FHU. The RV park had clean air conditioned bathrooms, the pool was awesome and some sites have concrete pads. The front desk person was so friendly and took the time to drive us to different sites to let us pick which site we wanted. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You must go see Mammoth Cave. We arrived late (2 pm) so a majority of the tours were already sold out. We chose to do the self guided tour. If you have the senior or year round national pass you can get one ticket at half price. For 2 of us it was only $9. Definitely worth it. The cave was impressive and amazing. We only spent one night so we did not get to see any other sites.

As earlier comments, most of the sites are not level but we had a great site during our stay with a little wood assistence. Very quiet and beautifull park. You have to pay for WiFi ($13 for 3 days) but it was very good. No reception on your antenna. People are very friendly and helpfull. Nice pool and we love the silence. They have fire rings and picknick tables. We will be back. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Fifth Wheel.

We are a Thousand Trails member and have stayed here overnight on 3 separate trips. Our only complaint is that most of the sites here are not level enough for our motorhome without using significant leveling blocks. On our last visit, we tried 3 sites before we could level and keep one of the back wheels of the coach touching the ground. If the facility owners would invest in some gravel & grading, this would get much better reviews. The site host was very helpful in getting us moved. I just don't like the hassle after a long day of travel for just an overnight stopover. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Diamond Caverns Thousand Trails is just inside Mammoth Cave National Park about 10-15 minutes from the main visitor center. We stayed there March 30th - April 4th and the weather ranged from the high 20's and 30s overnight to rain and lightning storms to warm and sunny in the high 60s. It's your typical early spring weather mix. The spaces are far enough apart for comfort, though still fairly close. The spaces along the side where we were at (space A-2) had grassy areas behind them with fire pits and picnic tables. We were also diagonal enough that most of our patio side windows faced grass and trees instead of someone else's RV. Other spaces around the park also had decent grassy areas. What I really liked about the park is that the spaces were in clusters throughout the hills, so it felt more like you were in a smaller park. Instead of RVs as far as the eye could see, you were able to see more trees and grass. Cell service was good on Verizon and AT&T, with 3 to 4 bars each throughout the week. Of course there were slow-downs during the evening hours, but they were minimal. The utilities at our site were fine at 50amp with full hookups. Some sites are only 30 amp and some are only partial hookups. The odd thing is that the map shows certain sites as being full hookup with 30 amps, but there is only one water spigot between two sites. Diamond Caverns has your typical Thousand Trails amenities: laundry, bathrooms with showers, pool, playground with basketball court, mini golf, horseshoe pits, a lounge, and event room. The pool wasn't open while we were there because it was still early in the year and there was no store, but they do have ice and firewood for sale. We felt very safe there and had no concerns leaving our RV when venturing out. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Motorhome.

When making reservations, we were told that we would be getting a longer site to accommodate our 42' fifth wheel. Upon arrival at 6pm, we found that it was first come first served, and we found no sites left long enough. After parking and calling the manager, we were able to get parked on a site. This campground is sad. Buildings are practically falling down, and everything is in dire need of repair. Most sites are crowded and unlevel. You can tell that maintenance hasn't been done in decades. There are quite a few permanent campers here. We will not be back. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground gives a written page on where most places are like Walmart and places to eat and many more.

Mammoth Caves is 7 miles away. There are many choices to make as to which part of the cavern you want to see. We were able to use our senior National park pass and got 50% off. Go early or the wait can be a long time and some times will be already taken. Reservations is not required but may be a good idea if you have a time you like better than others.

We stayed in site B-8 which had a concrete pad and I would not have needed to disconnect but we did to travel. The site has a nice concrete pad and all three connections were very convenient to the back of the trailer. We were close to the neighbors but they were very nice. Our awnings missed by about three feet so we had room. The pool was nice and warm and clean. We went to the game room/club house and relaxed for a bit and it is a bit out dated but comfortable and very clean. The park staff were all great and gave me a ride to the garbage dump area and to the laundry. As has been stated earlier it is not obvious you need to check in at the office which is on the opposite side of the main road before you enter the park. The office is directly across the from the park driveway. They used the golf cart and took me over to get paid for out trip. It is very convenient to Mammoth Cave and several others. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Travel Trailer.

This is the second Thousand Trails to stay at since we purchased our membership. It's just okay but we would likely not come back. They initial site they suggested for us would have been a nightmare. Zero shade, front door opens to neighbor's sewer, and probably would not have been able to open our awnings. We chose a shorter site in the trees. It wasn't bad and all the utilities worked well. ATT service is basically non-existent so we purchased the premium WiFi for $5.99 per 24 session. That was a waste of $. Dropped connections and slow speeds. Some of the buildings were in need of some TLC. Playground and pool were okay. The tent area looked a lot nicer than the RV area. It is relatively close to the national park visitors center. We belong to RPI which includes Encore, which is 1000Trails. This is typical 1000Trails. This being Encore which is the top of their line, it would be like a resort CG..NOT! This is not a resort by any means. But only cost us $10per/nt +$1 per/nt resort fee. Would NEVER pay their reg. rate. Front desk & rangers are the nicest people...but they don't own the CG. This CG is severely out dated, over rated & needs a severe facelift. The pool is nice and clean, decent size and busy. Our RV faces over grown weeds and forest trees. Neighbor on one side is like the rest in our row, permanents with lots of stuff all over. We are in 310. If you come here pending on the amps you need (we need 50), ask to be up front or in the center. That spaces are tighter but they are level. We are at the back by the back set of bathroom/showers/laundry building. Space 310, it is probably one of the most spacious and pretty level. So is 309 but it was taken. They will take you in a golf cart and show you what is available in the amps you need and you can pick your poison. Most are NOT suitable for Roof Mounted Sat Dishes. So on top of the $1 day resort fee (for not a resort) there isn't even a store here. They charge for wifi. We used our mifi w/ ATT as best we could. CG not ATT friendly. 1 bar, occasionally 2. Mini putt putt course is made with PVC pipes. Very sad looking, no players. The entire course is about 15x15ft. There are like 6 pull thru sites. They are not even close to being level. They are downhill & uphill, not level side to side. Would take 2 days to build up one side so that it would be level front/back & side/side. Some MH have to have one wheel off the ground so they can get the other side of their unit level. Picnic tables need serious work. Firepits are nice/big but inconvenient. At back corner of site. Can't sit around, would be sitting on side of hill below fire pit in neighbors space. Add pics later when gone from here in 2 days where we have ATT service.Roads are gravel and narrow. Disconnect towed before traveling through. Allowed to park towed beside RV on the Grass/weed area. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is an adequate rv park. It is a 1000 Trails park and I accessed it with P.A. This park was the probably the flower of 1970 parks. But in the last 40+ years it has become a bit wilted. Roads: Are gravel and in good shape and easy to get around on. In fact they were applying new gravel while we were there. Sites are gravel with a very tired picnic tables and a fire ring. The sites are pretty close together but not awning to awning. Level sites are there but they are few and and some are rather extremely out of level. We were in site 401 and it was fine. I saw many rv's with one set of wheels off the ground and lots of blocking used to get level. The showers are about the size you find in an average rv. They are very clean and well maintained with good pressure and hot water. This park is convenient to the multitude of caves in the area and is a 30-40 min. drive to Bowling Green in Interstate. They have Wifi at a cost and we didn't try it. Verizon phone and Mifi worked fine. The host and check in folks were all very helpful and friendly. They not only led me to my site they had me jump in the golf cart and ran around the park so I could pick one that I liked. Grocery stores and supplies are about 15-20 mins away. As I said this is an aging park that has been pretty well maintained. If we came back to the area we'd stay here again as long as we got a good discount. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort & Golf in a Motorhome.

Close to all the caves. Note that Mammoth Cave is a National Park for a reason. I would suggest that money invested in the various different tours they have of the Mammoth Park Caves is better spent than going to the other private caves in the area. The Corvette Museum in Bowling Green is interesting and if they have the plant open for tours it would probably be pretty interesting. It was closed for retooling when we were here.
