We were hesitant to stay here after reading the last two reviews. We found the park to be pleasant. Road noise was not an issue. Yes, there are full-time "residents" here, but it does not look like a trailer park. We found the park to be very clean. Thomas was very pleasant and helpful. The sites, as well as the interior roads, are gravel and very easy to navigate. The sites are pretty level and have sites have the option of being back to back. Not our favorite set-up. There was no one behind us. We would definitely stay here again. - oldbluejay

I was hesitant to stay here after reading several reviews but it was close off the highway and I stayed for 1 night. The park is right along the highway so noise is a issue. The park is next to a salvage lot that is busy on Fridays. The park looks like a trailer park with some transient sites for overnighters. I was not impressed with the staff; the gentleman that checked me in was grouchy and seemed put off by my questions. I found my site in the front row and went to visit restrooms and laundry area. The restrooms could have been cleaner and laundry was dirty with older equipment. I can't say I wasn't warned and I did find another park the next night a few miles out of town that was a 10 plus. Do your research. - Solo Rver

I stayed here 3 years ago and was hoping the park would be have been improved by now. No such luck. The sites are cheap so you get what you pay for. The road noise is horrible when it rains you could literally swim to the office and the restrooms could use a good cleaning with bleach. The majority of the park are old rigs who should be in the junk yard next door. I could overlook these things if staff were nice but they still have billy goat gruff working the front desk and his demeanor stinks. I will park at a rest area next visit you will find cleaner restrooms and people. - openroad4me

We were literally the only ones there, so difficult to review. We absolutely loved it and had beautiful views, but if it were packed with other RVs, it would have been quite different. I would say one should try to get a space (maybe site 10?) on end or edge to have wonderful views. Attractive pond in center. The owner or operator, is super nice-makes one feel really welcome. Apparently the nearby drag strip and raceway can be very noisy but they were empty while we were there. One might want to ask about that. - ClayLady

This park is located about 4 miles off of I-24. The roads are narrow but manageable. It's in the middle of nowhere. Our pull through site was long and level but not much room between the sites. All the utilities worked well. Don't plan to get much use from the Wi-Fi because it took 30 minutes to update one app. Grass grows faster! Considering where it's located and no pool we believe it's over priced. It was okay for a one night stay but we're not sure we would stay here again because of the location. There were no car races on Sunday so we didn't have an issue with noise. - Gary T
Jun 2018 - $30.00
At time of reservation I was made aware of the race track and again at check in. I should have understood what a problem the track is when you are warned twice. The track is only 1/4 mile away and they did not stop until 12:15 a.m. The staff are friendly and park very clean. The sewer connection did require hose extension to reach as it is in the front 1/4 of site with electric & water in back 1/3. Water spigot leaked causing large mud area. No picnic table. Is well off the interstate so very quite when track is closed. Route in on public roads has low hanging tree limbs that contacted MH. Would stay again but only Sunday - Thursday nights due to track. - osok

This was a stopover. Although they advertised cable, there was none provided and the internet was down. The bathrooms were filthy and there was no hot water in the women's showers. This could be a beautiful place but needs a good cleaning and updating. Would not stop again. - Lemanuel
Aug 2018 - $55.00
Very clean and well maintained. Nice little pool for the kids. Very nice staff. A bit tight, but the owner is right there to guide you every step of the way, and if you listen to him... you will do just fine. He has a good eye for the twists and turns. Very nice park. - Donulus

A small but well kept campgrounds with a few long term sites but plenty of room for us and others who arrived after we did. Owner checked us in and escorted us to our site. In the section we were assigned, there was only gravel. No grass between sites. No picnic tables and no fire rings/fires. Good water pressure. Asked owner for map of campgrounds but he said none had ever been made. - DeRenzy
Oct 2018 - $32.00
Good campground choice for visiting Paducah. Comfortable and easy to find. Small, privately owned with friendly staff. Level gravel sites and well mowed property. While not a fancy resort-type CG, it was a good choice for our weekend visit. Quiet and safe. The lake was a bonus feature - pretty and a nice walk around. - Flying Mantis
Aug 2018 - $32.00
This is a good stop for an overnight stay. The park is easy on and off of I-24 and easy to get into and out of. The area where we stayed was more like a large gravel parking lot with full hookups. We were too long for these sites with our tow, but the attendant put us towards the end of the row so no one needed to go around us. He was very nice. As close as we were to the highway it was very quiet. We travel through this way often and it is nice to be able to find places like this. Nothing fancy, but a nice quiet place to spend the night. - SillyAnn

This is definitely an eclectic park! It contains what appears to be an old closed boat marina and open RV storage around a stunningly beautiful fishing lake with decorative fountain. There are two rustic cabins situated near the lake. There are few vacant sites. The property looks like a combination mobile home park, RV Park and gypsy encampment. Actual permanently located mobile homes and modern RVs on developed well-maintained sites sit next to 60's vintage RV's cluttered with belongings and cobbled up structures. This is not an indictment-people must make choices-but this is not your typical RV Park. That said, our site was level, clean and all utilities were convenient and reliable. Water pressure was 50 PSI at site #21 and it sported a concrete patio, picnic table and fire ring. Space was plentiful, trash dumpsters were reasonably close by and OTA TV reception was limited but clear. Laundry and showers were clean. There is a well-outfitted rec room and a nice children's playground. Propane is available on site. We stayed two nights. We felt safe and welcome. - TMN-15
Jul 2018 - $27.00
This is a park mostly for seasonals, so there are only about ten sites available to travelers. But they are pull thru's at the back of the park with some shade, so they are fine. Everyone was friendly. There is a small lake at the back of the park and lots of places to walk your dog. I would stay here again. - mary mcmoo
May 2017 - $27.00
Wonderful area to stop for a day or two if traveling. My wife and I were in town for a wedding so we weren't really at the park for long periods of time however when we were there everyone was very nice and willing to help if I had any issues. I would say 3/4 of the park are permanent residents and the only visitor sides would be spots 21-28 I believe they are all pull through gravel sites but all are very level. Anyhow, close to Kentucky Damn Lake, restaurants, interstates and full hook ups. Sites are a little narrow but wide enough to put slides out. We would return again if passing through for a break. - Dream Coach

We stayed at this campground Labor Day Weekend and loved it! They have been in business for four years and It is the cleanest campground we have been to. We were not on a sweet site, but dump station was very accessible and pitched the right way! They don't have a park or pool, but a game room with a pool table, foose Ball, air hockey, and another table we had no idea how to play provided a relaxing environment that my teenage daughter loved! The owner and his father have done an excellent job, and we thoroughly enjoyed siting on their front porch and getting to know them. We were 15 minutes from Kentucky Lake so rented a pontoon boat for a day. After a long day in the sun and water, went back for some quiet and relaxation. We will be back! - Vgoode

Stayed one night on way to see Ark Encounter. Only 32 sites and no long term campers. Park only one year old. Check in person pleasant. Used pull thru. Not very level and had to use several leveling blocks. Park quiet. Recreation room nice. Good overnight stop. - Little Red River Rat

Extremely clean restrooms and showers. Puts major chain hotels to shame. Nice rec room. No pool. Lake within 5 miles. Wide open spaces. Easy to navigate. Great host. Some shaded spots. Quiet. - Donulus

Showers and restrooms were not open, which was not disclosed to us when we checked in. Had to try multiple sites before finding one with both working water and electric. Site was nice and level. They were very nice folks and when we asked about check-out time pretty much said whenever as there was no one there. - Gail K

Campsites were all level with easy access roads from the highway. There were just enough trees to add shade without hitting the RV. Water spigot are placed around the campground for everyone's use. No sewer or water on the sites. A long trail travels through the park. Some sections appeared overgrown while some sections were cleared and some even paved. Many locals seemed to use the park for exercise. The disc golf course looked nice. Metropolis has grocery, gas, and some restaurants. Paducah has most any other store you might need. The only problem we experienced was with the bathhouse. The men's side seemed to back up as men waited for the one flushing toilet with a door. We tried two other restrooms and those too lacked doors. There was a chemical toilet located in the campground but I never saw anyone going in or out. Check in with campground host or go to site and host will check with you. Exit interstate and drive toward Metropolis. Do not follow a GPS that takes you on the other side. There is not a road on that side that is suitable for RVs. - Michaeljess
Jun 2018 - $20.00
We really loved this state park. We were concerned about fitting our 5th wheel (41 ft) into the sites, but had zero issues. The park is super clean and right on the Ohio River. There is a lot of shade. Each site has a fire pit and a picnic table. We were in site 16 (50AMP). There are some low branches, but nothing that impeded us. - OpenRoadJedi

I wish that I had more time to stay at this park. They have a small onsite museum here and the original 1700's fort has been rebuilt. Lots of history to explore. The park is drop dead gorgeous. - Mark Ford

When we arrived there was no one in the office. We found our spot but the pedestal was SO far away, there was no way we could hook up. After looking that the other sites, we did what they did and parked off the gravel and on the grass. We hated to do this and never put our jacks down, so as to have as minimal impact as possible on the grass. Verizon service was good and this is a nice park to stay in. It gets crowded on the weekend with LOTS of families. Very pretty park and it's nice to have a state park that can take a big rig. Bathrooms were clean but it was hard to get hot water since the markings on the shower were not clear. But it was nice to have the free showers with no sewer. Some of the roads are tight for a big rig, so choose your site carefully. We used Reserve America and the map helped. We would stay here again. Pretty park in an interesting area of Kentucky. - Danni

Very quiet. Very restful. Nice place to camp close to city and shopping, great place to fish. - Johnjean
Jun 2017 - $23.00
This is a very large and spacious campground conveniently located by Kentucky Dam Village. Restrooms are average and a little run down, but adequate. Spaces are large and some are shaded. Hookups are very far from the sites but the campground is very relaxed about putting your camper where you need to in order to hook up. If you are a bird watcher, there is great variety here. It's a quiet, peaceful place to relax. - JMills

Great place on the Ohio river our site had 50amp we had to have the front of the RV to the river which was good as the door and and windows opened on to a large area with good views of the river.
we arrived late but the owners came out and helped get the RV on the site, this is a very nice place on the river with good fishing for Carp and Catfish.
It was incredibly peaceful here with only the noise of the water, the passing barges and the coyotes in the nearby woods.
we will come back next time we come this way. - Hilary & Tony
Sep 2011 - $20.00
Nice park with riverfront sites on the Ohio River. We stayed for 1 week. We enjoyed watching the tugs and barges going up and down the river. We had nice weather, but it seemed quite breezy most times. Our site was under a security light so very bright at night. Try to avoid a site under the 2 or 3 lights. Riverfront utilities are side by side connections so you will have a close neighbor. - User2260
Jul 2011 - $23.00
Had a campsite right on the Ohio River which was kind of cool. We watched the barges go by. That is the good. Fair amount of seasonals that pretty much keep to themselves. This place floods about every Spring and this year was worse than normal. They were still recovering. Very sandy sites. Bathhouse was so far away most campers either didn't use it (us) or drove up to it. Not close to anything. Paducah is 30 minutes away and a cool place to be on a Sat. night. Probably wouldn't stay here again but if want to just hang around a campsite and watch the barges or maybe do some fishing, this would be just fine. Quiet. - welch
