WOW, this place is way out in the country and you drive about the last 5 miles on a very narrow road with lots of overhanging trees to scrape and scratch your rig. It's quiet, The people are nice, some sights are not that level, some are fine. Set up for mostly Seasonals, but with transient sights also. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Access road is tough for big rigs. Cummins Ferry Road is narrow, winding and lots of trees need to be trimmed. The last 1/2 mile is a single lane road with tree branches encroaching both on the sides and top. RV Park (not a resort) is a nice setting in a Canyon right on the Kentucky river. Mostly permanent residents, transient spaces tend to be the pull throughs which are recently paved. Some of the pull through spaces have a steep incline which would be ok for trailers but difficult for motorhomes, so make sure you talk to the park. Because of the Canyon there is no Cell service, Satellite could be a struggle depending on the site. Wifi is between 1mb-2mb speeds and we had outages during our stay. The sewer system seems to be lacking venting so you need to watch out for pressure building up. Pool was locked the entire stay so not sure when it is open. Downtown Lexington is about 25 miles or 45 minutes away. Park has drainage issues and during storms our site and grass area flooded. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

This park is located down country roads to the banks of the Kentucky River. The entry road is narrow but accessible. Interior road and sites are well maintained mostly level asphalt. All pull through sites are in the middle row with no trees between large sites while outer back in sites are smaller with heavy trees at rear of site. No sites have a river view. Utilities were well placed. Good water pressure. Provided internet access worked well. Verizon and Sprint with limited fluctuating service. 4 OTA TV channels. Good area to walk dogs along river bank. Laundry with 2 washers (1.25/load) and 2 dryers(1.00/load). Very helpful and nice owners. Most sites are occupied by neat long term residents. A little off the main highway for an overnight stay but great for exploring the area.

DO NOT ENTER PARK ON MCAFEE ROAD. It is a narrow one lane. Use Cummins Ferry Road. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Super park the pull throughs are huge, The place is super quite. REMEMBER THIS call first and get the directions from the office your GPS will put you on a road that is a single lane, also if you have never been there before do not try to get in after dark. If you take your time you will have no issues if you follow your GPS the road is not RV friendly. Great place will be back We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The average RV park review is based on what the average person sees during an uneventful stay. But it's when things go awry that the park staff can make the difference between a good visit and bad weekend. During our stay, the 50 amp breaker at the hookup failed, leaving us with no power on a hot Labor-Day weekend. This is where things could have gone wrong in the average RV Park. After walking down to the office to report this, the manager dropped everything rushing down with parts and an electrician in tow to replace the bad breaker. The service here is phenomenal. I think it took longer to walk to the office than for him to make the repair. My home-town RV park could learn a few things from these folks. By the way, don't let the cautions of narrow winding roads spook you into skipping this wonderful park. If you've driven in hill country anywhere, you've seen this before. And, the owners actually schedule the departures and arrivals to avoid folks meeting on these roads. Since the rest of the stay was uneventful, all I can say is, the managers are warm and friendly. They make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. The park is clean and well manicured. Situated on the Kentucky river in a canyon with trees on all sides, this park is as beautiful as it is quiet. One of the best parks I've stayed in. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

DISCLAIMER- This is geared toward BIG rig owners! It's a long narrow road into a lovely campground on the banks of the Kentucky River. Even though the owners have widened the roads by 4' and the sites by 3' and just re-surfaced the sites, the turns are still tight for 45' motorhomes with tows. Our site was long enough to not disconnect the tow but we dropped the car at the office because they had so much rain the grass in between pads was saturated. Our rear wheels and tow wheels on driver's side still got very muddy making the turn in & out. We needed extra sewer hose & extra hose to reach water. As long as you are well aware & well prepared, this is a lovely campground. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Our stay was fine. Getting into the park was 'interesting'. Narrow roads and steep descents. Reverse this leaving. Sites plenty long enough. Side sites not good for bigger rigs. Roads narrow in the interior making getting around without riding on the grass very difficult. Small laundry there. Places to walk the pups. Really out of the way for shopping but we still enjoyed our time there. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Park was very clean and owners were very nice. The site was a pull thru in the middle. These sites are long and curved with the hook ups spread out, depending on how you are positioned you may need extension for either water or electric. The only issue we had was with the road in, the last 3 miles is on a very narrow country road (each lane maybe 9' wide) with drainage ditches on both sides. We used this park as a point to visit the Bourbon Tail and found it to be a convenient location. Park location is scenic as it is along the Kentucky river with tall palisades and water falls on the other side. Pull thru sites are wide open, great satellite reception. The park was very quiet at night. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

DO NOT TAKE MCAFFE LANE which is basically a one lane road. We took it in a 40' motorhome. Go to 1988 and take that. The lady in the office was extremely nice, the campground is nice with lots of full-timers. We had #72 which is a LONG pull-thru. We didn't hook-up to water as it was at the very end of the pull-thru and we didn't have enough hose to reach it. Other than that it was a nice park. We did Lexington, Bardstown, and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail from this staging point. Nicest campground we have stayed at in the past 30 days and 3200 miles of travel. This could be a destination camping spot. Several seasonal campers have already found it. Is literally down in a hollow. Three camp sites wide and about 3/4s of a mile long. Very well maintained and staff was exceptionally helpful. River right below the campground. High bluffs with a waterfall. Water access for boats and kayaks. Coming down Hwy 127 gps will put you onto a road which is marked "no RVs on this road" Heed the sign. Do not make the turn. Go one more road to the south. The gps designated road is just wide enough for one vehicle. No cell service, but wifi was free and worked fairly well for a camp ground. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Parking not a problem for pull through sites. They are very long. Back in sites are problematic. Most folks parked in other vacant sites. Seasonal folks tend to "own" their extra space. Request a pull through.

We stopped here for one night after some touring along the "Bourbon Trail". This park is a little off the beaten path but along a beautiful drive to get to the park. The owners are very friendly and attentive. The park is gated. We were here a bit off season in early April so there were few overnighters but it seemed there were several snowbirds as well as empty units used by locals on the weekends, perhaps. The water and electric at our site were a bit far apart from each other for our 22 foot motorhome but we managed. We very much liked our site and the owners of this park. There is a laundry facility but I didn't use it or the bathrooms. I noted there were two washers and two dryers. The ladies' room had two toilet stalls and 3 shower stalls and was kept very clean. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Our return visit to Cummins Ferry did not disappoint. This is a well maintained facility with super-friendly owners on site. We visited in the off-season, and found a few dozen long term campers settled in for the winter. All were friendly and kept their sites neat and tidy. Most sites offer full hook-ups. The center pull thru sites are a bit more spacious than those on the side. The campground is located at the bottom of the palisade cliffs, right against the Kentucky River. Yeah, it's a steep downhill to get here, but nothing you can't handle. Zero Verizon cell service in camp, but did get a dozen over the air TV stations. A small camp store has basic provisions. This is a secured property with key card entry, and I felt quite safe here. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

We love this campground. The owners are wonderful and friendly. We love the seclusion and beauty of the waterfall. Other reviews commented on cell service being limited, but we used wifi calling and it worked beautifully. However, cell phone service is not important to us when camping. That is why we camp. There is a lot to do in the area. Just ask the owners for ideas. They are very helpful. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Horrible experience. The two owners which happen to be the only employees are not nice. I got cursed at by the owner for inquiring about why my electric bill for my meter was so high during a 2 month period when I wasn't even there to camp as a yearly camper there and I acted professional the entire time while they both huffed and puffed and cussed at me. They hand write your electric bill so yes, there's room for human error. My son was bitten by another camper's dog. Along with that incident, my active duty military schedule abruptly changed. I tried to get out of my 1 year contract after a few months there due to those two reasons and wasn't able to. Kids activities and events are lacking and are only done on major holiday weekends. There is no drinks around the pool area including bottled water. There is only one dumpster for trash which is rather far and outside the gate to the main camping area. For weekend campers calling to make reservations, I have heard them not reply to phone calls inquiring about camping because the pop up and tent sites are outside the main gate. We have heard personally several campers there that were highly dissatisfied. The river is there, but they play favorites on who gets those spots. I've never seen weekend campers ever get a spot on the river and there is no river swimming. There is a small pool that usually stays clean and one outdated bath house connected to the office/camp store. Camp store is ok and they have basic staples but they smoke inside of it. For these reasons, I won't be going back and I don't recommend military to go either. The paying customer is never right at this place and it shows. Not much to do around the area. This is located on the Kentucky River (no swimming) in a mostly wooded area. All Interior middle sites in the center row have no shade and no trees. Closest grocery stores (Kroger and Wal-Mart in Lawrenceburg, KY) are about a 25 minute drive one way.
