Hard to rate. Great if you like rustic. It's affordable and peaceful, but there are lots of bugs, restrooms are dated, it's 30 amp only, there's no sewer (except site 1), and the "dump station" is a challenge to use. Trails were so overgrown as to be unusable. Pads are extensions off the edge of the parking lot/boat ramp. The online registration will allow you to park a 45' rig on a 15' pad, so use your best judgement. I think sites 2-5 are 15' long and the rest are 20', but you can hang off both ends a few feet. On the other hand there is usually availability, AT&T and Verizon worked well, and despite all the trees I could get satellite. Staff stop by often and everyone was super nice. - Keeping up with the Joneses

This is a nice county park just a few miles from town. I was in the area to visit an old friend so the location was perfect. Facilities are older, but not run down, it looks like they do their best to keep the place up. The campground is small with a limited amount of camping pads. I got the impression that it is mostly used by locals for weekend camping. - Mark Ford

We stayed in this lovely little campground for a week and had a peaceful, relaxing stay. The park managers were hard working, very helpful and accommodating. The sounds of the waterfall over the dam and geese calling to each other was more than we expected on this trip but coupled with the Kentucky hospitality of our hosts at the park, by far one of our greatest trips. This Michigan family is impressed! Try it! You will like it! - Georgeann

A little bit out of the way for an overnight stop, but it filled the bill. It must fill up in the summer with campers who enjoy boating and hanging out on the weekends. The sites are in a grass field with good hookups for each. Since the sites are on grass, there is some rutting at the sites and the dump station. The man doing the check in was friendly and helpful. The restroom/shower room was clean. We avoided the first turn to that leads up to the campground from the marina (a bit steep and between trees) and went the long way around towards the back of the campground. - LatLongJohn

Don't follow the GPS, it will try to take you through a subdivision. Follow the brown signs once you get into town; they take you straight to it. The interior road was narrow with speed bumps, so while big rigs could get in there, it wasn't the easiest to navigate. It was super muddy, and made for difficult entry/exit of the rv. There was a very 'nature' smell everywhere - okay, it smelled like dog poop. Our rig was too big to use the dump station; couldn't make the curve into the pullout. - DaBlairs
Jul 2017 - $22.00
We were in site 12 and it was spacious and very close to a nice playground, great for our toddlers and our space was big enough to throw frisbee to our two medium size dogs. Nice neighbors. Only rating at 9 because when it rained and it got super muddy but I guess campground can't keep the rain away. - TravelingSnook

The bathrooms needed a good longer power wash with bleach. The park has big spaces and paved roads. Overall we liked our stay except for the bathrooms. Hopefully it was just the time of year. - Quintin
May 2018 - $26.00
Such a beautiful, well-kept park. The only issue is lack of connectivity. The sites all appear pretty level and are quite spacious. It was a convenient base for visiting both Louisville and Lexington. - CnCOntheGo
Oct 2017 - $17.00
Excellent campground! The whole place was very clean and well taken care of. After walking the dog around the entire campground looking at different sites, I feel this site is the best. All of the sites look good but when I go camping I try to get as far away from people as possible. Secluded, level, VERY easy to back in, plenty of room around the site with only a neighbor on one side and they are far away, site is toward the end of a turn around but there are only 6 sites in the entire loop. We would definitely stay here again and try to get site 41. - B and V travels

Great park down by the Kentucky River. Great friendly people. Sites are tight but then they are at most private campgrounds. No pull through sites. Great river access for swimming, kayaking etc. Close to downtown. Frankfort and 1/2 hour from many bourbon distilleries on the bourbon trail. West 6 Farm brewery is 2 miles away. - dmgogin

Aug 2011 - $26.00
This is a nice campground about 10 miles outside of Frankfort KY. Initial impressions were that the grounds were somewhat "aged" but after paying and heading to the site, the actual grounds are very nice. They are back quite a bit from the office and well maintained, quiet and pleasant. Our only issue was that the electric spiked high voltage every evening around 7:00. This caused our EMS to shut down the electric to our coach and start the inverter to protect our system. The length of time varied each day. We had good Verizon cell and air card coverage. The owners were very pleasant. We would return if in the area. - Gypsy Turtles

Rate reflects a weekly rate. This is a gem located north of Frankfort on the Kentucky River at the mouth of the Elkhorn Creek. Entry can be misleading as you cross a single-lane bridge on pavement and then transition to gravel. The area around the office and the storage area are a bit unkempt, but as you are escorted to your site you round the bend and see a beautiful, unspoiled meadow. All roads are gravel and single lane but courtesy makes traversing them no problem. We requested a site for our satellite and had no problem connecting. However, many sites are in the shade so be sure to request an open site if that is important to you. The full-hook-up sites have many seasonals but their campsites are neat. The hook-ups are conveniently located and easily accessed. The sites are gravel surrounded with grass. This is not a resort but if you like a state park atmosphere with full hook-ups, you'll enjoy Still Waters. There are also two primitive areas and water/electric only sites available for RVs and tents with a dump station on the grounds. There are no trains, no highway noises, no city lights. Frisbee golf, fishing, hiking, volleyball and a lots of wide open spaces for the kids to run are located on the grounds as well as canoe rentals available at the concession in the campground. Probably could be busy/zoo on a summer/holiday weekend or if there's a company picnic on the grounds, but during the week it is an oasis. Located about 10 miles north of Frankfort, Still Waters is close enough to access all the sightseeing available in the area. Would definitely return again. - Here4Now

Oct 2018 - $41.00
While this campground accomodates Big Rigs, it is borderline when full. Parking for tows and toads is at a premium and takes up space near the streets making turns difficult. Utilities are solid with decent Verizon signal. Our site had borderline satellite reception as there are many trees around. The park seems to be well maintained and has facilities that families would enjoy. - Pjoe
Sep 2018 - $45.00
Nice park but sites are tiny; had only 4 feet between the back of our 45 ft fifth wheel and the neighbor behind. Could not park truck without being half way in road, very hard to get in and out of, other than that we enjoyed it! - TraeUrban
Sep 2018 - $36.00
Stayed both going and returning from our eventual destination. Very busy campground with every site taken. There were many permanent residents. - Michaelg
