Our home base camp. Another excellent experience. Big lots with hookups on correct side. Clean bathrooms which the one on the hill is new. Patrolled regularly. - Deaton
Apr 2017 - $14.00
They have both full hookup and elec/water only sites. Camp is exceptionally clean and well cared for. Tables are the new coated metal kind. Hosts were very helpful and fun to speak with. Right next to the water so kayaking and canoeing have easy access. There is a long hiking trail at the end of the "B" loop. Extraordinary springs and streams coming down the mountain. Really like this place. - PhredFromIL

There wasn't anyone in the office so I just took my site. It is a very nice park with paved and concrete pads and patios. It is in the middle of nowhere. - mrracechaser

We loved the park. Rates are cheap. Park is scenic with the remains of railroad tracks, depot (can't go in it), remains of coal mining operation next door, green grass. If you like a quiet place with ruins & history to explore, this park & whole area has plenty of that. We couldn't get the cable TV to work. We mentioned this to the museum where you register, & they told us to check with City Hall, which we didn't do. There are trees planted in the park, but not big enough to give shade. Also there is no sign out on the road showing the location of the campground! The roads are narrow in that area & there isn't any place to make a turn in a big rig, so we were lucky to find it. There is no bathhouse or office, only the Kentucky Coal Museum where you register. I was also disappointed that the mine tour wasn't open & one of the volunteers said it hadn't been open for a year and a half, & it didn't sound like it was going to be open anytime soon. - beefly
Sep 2006 - $20.00
This is a small park that is located next to the railroad station, on the grounds of what was once Kentucky's largest coal mining operation. The operation ceased in the 1960's and the the area is being preserved in an attempt to allow people to see what an early twentieth century, company owned, mining town was like. They are shortly going to open a section of the mine for tours. The town of Benham, which ajoins Lynch, has a museum that depicts life in a coal mining town. The park is not fancy. The parking pads are gravel with grassy living areas. There are no public restrooms or showers, so tents or pop ups would not be practical. There is no office. There are no entertainment facilities. You register at the coal mining museum in Benham and drive up to Lynch (about a mile). It is simply a place to park while you explore the history of Lynch/Behham coal mining. It is in close proximity to Kingdom Come State park. This park has hiking trails, a fishing lake with paddle boats, and picnic areas with slides and swings for the kids. - D&M

Another home base park. They have worked on some sites adding new fire pits and fixing the grounds. Some still need attention. Bathrooms still very dated bare concrete floors with no heat and urinal covered up. Nice peaceful park. Mostly big trees shading everywhere. Trails to lake for boating and fishing. Beach within walking distance. - Deaton
Jul 2016 - $20.00
After a rain I had a choice between a lake and a mud hole. I chose the mud hole. There was only a paved strip for the camper. No grass, no gravel, no pad beside. When it rained it was a river both in front and beside the camper. I built a bridge to get to the bathroom. I brought gravel the second night to keep from tracking. Similar problems beside me. Neighbor had grass but was full of water and ended up a mud hole. Bathrooms are terrible. Bare concrete. One urinal not working. Showers have no locks. Water temp changes at random. Wear flip flops!! I know other sites are nice. They could fix the others. I'd be pressed to return because 5 miles up the road is much nicer. - Deaton
Sep 2015 - $16.00
We were traveling through the area and stopped early in the afternoon to take a break and to spend the night. We were one of 5 or 6 campers so the place was very quiet. The buildings look to be old and needed some repairs but were sufficient. Campsites were spacious with gravel and grass. We had a fire ring and picnic table. A couple of the trailers may have been there awhile from the looks of their belongings but may be for weekend fishermen on the lake. We just wanted to relax and walk with our dogs before moving on and this little campground met our needs. - busyteach

This park is one of the most beautiful wooded parks I have ever been in, but getting here is pretty rough. The road is very curvy and mountainous with 3 hairpin turns. (We take a 35' TT up here). The upper campground has paved road with open sites (5 only) and a bath house with showers. The views here are amazing. The lower campground with 10 very spacious sites is completely wooded, therefore the views are not as good. Sites are not long, therefore there are only a few that large rigs can fit into. Electric only on the sites, but water is available for fill-up near the dump station in the lower campground. - MerryKalia

This is a wonderful family owned campground. Our site was small and close to our neighbor. We had the creek running behind us so that was nice. Had cable with 25 channels and wifi that was slow sometimes. There was a great path on the other side of the creek that was close to 5 miles that ran for the most part by the creek. There was a pavilion with picnic tables and rocking chairs and other seats. The bathrooms were first rate always clean and about the best we have experienced in all our years of camping. - alnal90
Sep 2016 - $30.00
We were traveling over Labor Day needing a place to stay for 2 nights on our way to NC. Called the campground and talked to the owner. He had one site left, asked if he needed a credit card he said "Not at all. When can I expect you?" Great service!
Upon arrival we sat at the pavilion and he and other RV'ers gave us some great suggestions for side trips. - Tom and Patty
Sep 2016 - $24.00
Use the entrance closest to town. Interior roads and site drives are gravel. Big rig maneuverability is good. There are strips of grass between you and your neighbor. Power is strong and water pressure is good. Sewer port on the pull-through sites were set back from the pedestal, so you may need a longer hose. Verizon had 2 bars. Satellite TV was no problem at the center sites. Against the hill and on the lower level will probably be hard to get. Owner is very friendly and easy going. - eaglessoc
