I was stopped at the door when I asked if tenters were allowed. So much for "warm Cajun hospitality." Owner said there were no bathrooms to accommodate tenters. If you are a tent camper, don't bother driving to this hard to find place: it's a waste of time. - woundtight

Fall 2006 - We lived here for 2 months while renovating our home 12 miles away. The owners are very friendly & live on-site. They were building a new convenience store/office while we were there, and it was finished about the time we left. All gravel with some grass. There's a center road with sites on both sides. One side is on a bayou that leads to False River (actually an 11 mile long lake) which has great fishing and water sports (skiing). The bayou side has a wood deck/boardwalk. There's a boat launch that I think is free for campers, and a covered place to clean your fish. There are several long-timers, or maybe permanent residents on the bayou side. There are some living there because they're working in the area. When I walked my dog, I found lots of other doggie droppings (I pick up behind my dog), so I don't think they enforce the clean-up rule. Other than fishing from the deck, there's really nothing for kids to do. Too hard to ride a bike on gravel. But we weren't there for recreation, just to sleep. I don't remember the nightly rate. We paid $300 a month - included utilities and cable. I'm writing this several months after staying there. I think they have probably made more additions and improvements since then. I would recommend this place to others. - Nomane

Probably not the campground's fault, but we were there in heavy rains. There is no place to walk outside without near ankle deep water and mud. Don't go there during a rainy period. Wi Fi and TV is poor. It is a quiet place, but filled with long term RVs. - W Davidson
Aug 2014 - $35.00
Our site was level and easy to get in and out of. The roads are gravel so fairly clean but with a few minor pot holes. The young man in the office was pleasant. It was quiet at night, but the next morning (a Monday), we could hear pick-up trucks from the long-term residents in the park leaving for work starting at 5 AM. We paid $35 cash. Credit card was $40. Wi-Fi was particularly good. - Pamela R.
Jan 2011 - $23.00
A large majority of the sites in this campground are occupied by what appear to be permanent resident travel trailers, although very few seemed to be occupied when I visited. The office / store is quite run down and dirty. If you elect to pay for your stay using a credit card, a 3% surcharge is added. No Wi-Fi service or cable is available, although I was asked if I wanted the number of the local cable provider to call in order to arrange for service connection. The major networks are available over-the-air with good HD signals and I was able to obtain a 4-bar signal for Verizon broadband. When I return to the Baton Rouge area, I’ll either stay in another campground or keep on going. - GreenMtn08

Very nice campground right off X121 on Interstate 10 in Louisiana. FHU, OTA TV was decent; no wifi. Clean, nicely spaced sites. Escorted to site by staff. Laundry available but didn't use it. Keypad bathhouse and laundry. Nice pool, on the small side. Awesome sounds from the bayou at night. - Pankie
Apr 2018 - $35.00
Easy access from I-10 but no road noise. This campground backs up on a swamp. We had a large back in lot with large back yard area. There was a concrete patio and gravel pad for camper. We had a back in site and the gentleman who directed us did a super job. The utilities all worked fine. We would stay here again if in the area. It's a good location to visit the Cajun Cultural Museum in Lafayette. - sammy32
Mar 2018 - $34.00
Pleasantly surprised with this park. Perfect for an overnight, right off I-10 (but because of the bridge over the Atchafalaya, really not much road noise just a rumble in the distance). Sites were mostly back ins, gravel, not overly long, and not overly level. Plenty of space between rigs and lots of area. Pool looked nice, staff was very friendly. Trash picked up at site, and park was very clean. - simsfmly

Small park but our site was a pull through on rocks and level. Water was on the soft side and had a slight smell to it, but otherwise was OK. Electric quality was good. Electric went out shortly after we got there but came back on about 5:15 pm. Walked the dogs in the city and then found the old high school with the front gate unlocked. It's now the local Senior Center. They found something good to eat under a huge tree in the front yard - I just hope it was pecans as there seems to be a lot of pecans in the area. Took them back in the morning and went around to the back where there is a huge lot and walked around that. - Kerch Family
Jul 2018 - $30.00
Nice sites, clean, well run. WiFi, water, sewage and power, so a nice place to set up. Spent a month there while doing medical test. Quiet, so was able to rest, and large field for walking our two fur-babies. Management was always very helpful, we are new at RVing so needed some questions answered and they were willing to take time with me. - Starluther
Nov 2016 - $17.00
Park is clean even with permanent campers, don't know about previous comment on park layout, we had no problem with our 40' motor home navigating the interior roads, camp hosts were very friendly. Laundry area was very clean as was the shower area (did not use) Based on other reviews of parks in the area we chose this one and are very satisfied. We will stop here again if in the area. Park also offers wi fi and works well. - Colette

It's a very nice place..we've been here for about 7 months..the grounds are nice and well-kept..there is a laundry.. we didn need other amenities so we couldn't review those..I do, however, feel like there is enough (ample amounts) of money being made here, that ANY amount should be put into maybe building a small play-area /park/playground type setup (sandbox, slide, monkey bars, etc.) for the visitors that do have children..(which are a lot more than noticed, they just all stay inside without somewhere to be or play with supervision) Just a suggestion from someone who has to stay away from home quite often (sometimes coming to visit him here with our 1 & 3 yr old children) as my hunny works out of town a lot..! Otherwise, I'd wish more places were as nice as Choctaw..! - Mary Wescovich and Donald Galloway

This park was pretty nice. Good level slab. Quiet. Clean. The owner could have been a little friendlier. But over all a pretty good experience. - okccountrygirl

This is a mobile home park that has RV spots also, 5 mins from Plaquemine, and 20 min from Baton Rouge. About 6 miles from Wal-Mart and fast food places. Has full hookup some concrete pads also. We have been here a year because my husband was here working. Anytime you need help just give them a call and they are there right away. Guidrys restaurant in Plaquemine is a good sit down restaurant if you like seafood. - BRANDYC

Apr 2018 - $10.00
Nice county park. First come and first served with no reservations. $15.00 a night, but if over 55, it is only $10.00 a night. Just pick your spot and ranger will come in the morning to collect the fee. 10 day stay limit. Cute and Nicely maintained Playground. On the water so there is a boat launch. Fairly quiet, but some activity because it backs to a canal so there is some boat traffic, but it is a peaceful setting. The bathrooms are old and a bit rundown, but we did not use them. Verizon signal was weak most of the time with only a 3 G signal. It was busy on the weekend (Easter) with many local people, but not sure it is busy every weekend? However, there were still a couple spots available. ***WARNING*** if you are over 9'6" or 5000 lbs, you must come in through Rt. 3177 Atchafalaya River Hwy. thru Butte LaRose to Herman Dupuis Rd. Do not come in from Henderson Levee Rd. As there is a pontoon bridge with low clearance and weight restriction. - Tracy and beth

This place is horrible!! Please don't ever stay here. The outside appearance is rough, there's a few broke down campers. The cabins are kind of cute from the outside, but there were spider webs all over. The inside of the cabin wash trashy! The bathroom was gross, filthy counter top, the AC was so dirty it stained my hand, tiles missing from floor, the bed looked like it came out of the 70s. It was just a horrible experience. It reminded me of one of those "pay by the hour motels". Thankfully they refunded our money, but not until the owner explained how his mother passed away the night before, his employees embezzled all his money, and the cleaning lady was new. Just so unprofessional. - Ms_Kay15
Aug 2013 - $22.00
NEVER stay there. This place is a mess, weird people around, after dark you are surrounded by thousands of mosquitos (I got more than 30 bites all over my body). Washing machines are available, but NEVER use them. We did, and because they have iron water, most of our clothes were destroyed, and we had to throw away most of the two loads!!! The restrooms do not even have doors. Such a terrible place. - nikotka
Feb 2013 - $35.00
When we called to make a reservation for a week, the office was insistent upon our coming to McGee's Landing first to pay for our week, sign a contract, and then take our money. After we did that, we were told to cross over the levee to the campground. Now I know why we were told to come to McGee's Landing, first. Upon our entrance to the campground we saw: 1. an old washing machine, 2. old tires, 3. empty beer bottles, 4. an old vehicle with its hood propped open, 5. massive amounts of personal trash, 6. an office that is closed and has an old worn out ice maker propped on the porch, 7. broken lawn chairs/other broken items, 8. other campsites that were under water that appeared to have sewage in them, 9. large equipment tearing up tree trunks. We parked our RV only to be approached by a massive sewer smell. There was mud everywhere. It was impossible to walk our dogs without being in mud or approached by stray cats. I will never stay here again! - hootch

There are 2 areas at Farr Park. We stayed in the area near the horse stables and arena. Although the staff gave me directions to the area, they were not clear and we went to the wrong area first and had to turn around and go back. It was basically a grass field with 30 amp power and water. The electric was broken (on the ground) at at least one site and there were wasps in the electrical pole of the site that we chose. The park was adequate for the our overnight stop and we are early risers on travel days, which was good since the only way into and out of this park is past the LSU football stadium and it was a game day. Luckily it was a 6 PM game, but they were already closing off streets at 8 a.m. - Madd Dogg
Aug 2018 - $40.00
A bit challenging to find and we missed the turn. The address, which we put in the GPS and where the park is are different. Once we found the park it was not clear as to where the office was. A rainstorm was coming so we pulled into a site and set up, all the electric boxes are locked, we found one that wasn't and had everything set up before the storm hit. I am not sure what one does for electricity if you come in after hours. Called the number and found out where the office was. Only accepted cash and no discounts. CG selection around Baton Rouge is not great and this one was very nice. Thought the price was high. - Wandering
Feb 2018 - $39.00
We stayed here as an overnight & although they were helpful to allow us to just pick our site, we have to agree with the rest of comments abt this park. We came in during rain and the sites were very very wet--lots of standing water. Even in the morning. We had thought to stay 2 nights but left early. Plus it's hard to drive to & out of from the main road. And all of that is unfortunate becuz it's a lovely place & very quiet--we got an awesome night's sleep. If they would simply do something abt the pads, I'd give it an 8+ - Afhertzog_54

Well planned RV park. Great concrete sites, friendly staff, close (within 10 miles) Round about construction is finally done after a couple of years so hopefully they will repair the road leading up to the turn off road. - witchey1
Nov 2018 - $36.00
This is a campground that some people will love and others will hate. If you want a place that has a lot of socializing opportunities and family oriented activities, you may like this. If you're looking for something quiet and woodsy, you probably won't. There's alot of focus on golf carts so it would indicate there is a regular crowd that stays here (but not permanently). Our review is based on an overnight stay, which we would do again if need be. The positives for this use is that there are a lot of sites so you probably can snag one, the sites are concrete and level. The bathrooms are spotless and they seem to have a lot of staff to keep things working and attend to you should you need something. While we didn't use the pool or rec hall, they sure looked impressive. There's beach volley ball and miniature golf, so I'm sure this is a popular spot for families with kids. The negatives are the before mentioned narrow streets and sites. You have a pretty normal amount of green space in between sites, but our site could not accommodate our 43' foot motorhome and tow and still be able to reach the sewer without our car sticking out in the road. While dog friendly, there is NO dog park and limited grass areas to walk your pet without being on someone's site. Besides the sewer proximity, probably the most frustrating thing was the water spigot is so low to the ground that it takes some gymnastics to connect. - McGarrert50
Nov 2018 - $40.00
I wish I had paid more attention to the poorer reviews of this park, they were spot on! We needed an overnight stop in the area and this park looked promising. Wrong choice. Very crowded, close sites, vehicles and parts of RVs infringing into the narrow roads, tons of unsupervised kids roving through the campground, kids playing football in the narrow streets, barking dogs, loud TVs, stereos, and golf carts galore (with more blaring music), neighbor fire pits a few feet from your rig, and to top it off, a very loud live band playing. There was also some kind of cook off going on and the area where that was held was a mess. Tight corners, high curbs, narrow roads make driving through hazardous. I also don't understand why they put a overnighter in the midst of park central. Look for other options, but if you must stop here, see if you can get a site in the perimeter of the park. The good, there were dog waste stations and the live band ended by 10pm. If you have kids, a golf cart, and like loud parties, this is the place for you. We won't be back. - Jerry and Betsy

We've stayed there twice, May, 2017 and April, 2018. The park was set up for a mobile home park years ago and they are slowly making it convenient for RV's. They do not take reservations but both times, they had several sites available when we got here. The park was clean. We did not use any of their facilities but they do have a laundry available. The park has grass and allows pets. It's near the school but with all the trees in the area, it wasn't noisy. The park is a couple of miles from town and is convenient to get in and out. - Memtb
