Very busy park run by the city. Lots of day user coming in and out of park. It is a city park as well as a campground. The spots we reserved were flooded from recent rains so we had to pick new spots when we got there. Not much to pick from, we ended up with very tight sites. Lots of eagle sightings, the area is known to have one of the largest concentration of bald eagle in Louisiana. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

What a strange place! We arrived without reservations, traveling through on Highway 90. The campground was only a couple of miles off of 90, on Highway LA70, so easy to get to. When you get to the sign on the highway that says the entrance is in one mile, it is actually less than half a mile away. As you turn in, you pass a trashed-out entrance booth. The office where you check in, is actually to your right. The lady there was nice enough and gave us a choice of about five sites right behind the office. We looked at those to find that the nicer sites are along the lake. When we asked, she told us there were some available, but only until the weekend. Interesting, since we told her we only wanted to stay for one night. We finally got a site on a spit, right on the lake. We decided to pull in forward, since it would give us views out the front window and the utilities, at the front of the site, would actually be in a better location. When we went back up to pay, we were told that it was forbidden to pull in forward! Really? We asked for an explanation, and were basically told that was the rule, so we backed in with no view! Our site had a lot of trash and around 100 or so cigarettes butts scattered around. There were signs saying campers only but many locals drove through very fast. One young man in a park cart spent about an hour talking with his buddy, possibly the reason there was a lot of trash around. It is noisy from Highway 70. It smelled from the lake. Having said all of this, it was an OK place for an overnight stop. This will be our one and only visit to this park. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The park was beautiful. We got there in middle of month and they had everything booked so they put use out back in the work camp, which was fine. They moved us in the middle of the month to a great site. They don't get a 10 because they locked us in Halloween night. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The sites were clean with grass area between sites. The site we were in had views of the lake from every window. We were however disappointed with the beach which was covered in litter, the lake also appeared dirty. Maybe it was the time of year that we were here but the lake was to hot to swim in. Over the air channels are limited to 3 channels and the WiFi was spotty. We will probably look for somewhere else to stay next time. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice city park on the water. All amenities except cable, I was only able to bring in the local channel which had awful programing and was only on air a short time each day. This park is used by the locals as a weekend party destination and is an interesting and fun kinda place! We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Awful experience as a tent camper:

1. The tent sites are located adjacent to a busy road where you will hear lots of road noise. More than a few people driving pick up trucks without mufflers. No sleep!

2. The hot water was turned off in the showers, for the entire duration of our stay. Lovely.

3. Their lawn maintenance guys seem to enjoy revving up the mowers before 8 AM (BTW- the park's stated quiet hours are 11 PM - 8 AM.). It gets better... while visiting my family in a RV site, witnessed on two separate days, the mowers operating within their site while we were outside. Just rude and inconsiderate.

4. Tent site = $24 RV site = $20

I would love to hear someone attempt to justify $24 for a tent site, especially considering items 1-3 noted above. We were the only tent campers for 2 of the 3 nights, so no, this isn't a high demand tent camping park.

Yes, this is a beautiful park located directly on the Lake but the cons outweigh the pros at this park. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Tent.

I reviewed this camp ground before but felt I needed to update from our most recent visit.
Overall, the campground is the same. Quiet, clean and most sites very roomy. Except for the one we were in.
This review is to warn everyone to try their best to stay away from spot #50!
After having stayed in this park multiple time, this was the first TRULY disappointing spot we have ever had.
The way the hook-ups are they are placed very far to the back of the sight and there is a tree you have to work around to be tied in. I have 25' of sewage line and it was stretched also my power cord is an easy 30+' and I was almost stretched all the way out. To make it all work we had to park towards the back on the site and that put us right in front of site #51 hook-ups. Basically, the room we had coming out the camper was the length of the awning. So sitting outside under the awning was very cramped due to the utility equipment (water, power) being right at our door step.
Thankfully we were camping with friends so we ended up spending a lot of time in site #51 (great site BTW).
It seems like they were trying to squeeze a site between 49 & 51 just to have another site.
Overall our stay was uneventful and nice even with the inconvenient site set-up. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The lake is the big draw.
Folks use the boat launch to access not only a day on the lake but to run across to the beautiful bayous on the other side.
Also, this is south Louisiana. Bring bug spray or even your fogger if you have one. This is bayou country and the Louisiana state "bug" likes to make an appearance just as the sun goes down.

My wife and I stayed here while I attended a school for the company I work for. This is a beautiful park. The site we had was real nice had plenty of shade. My wife enjoyed the abundance of squirrels. My only complaint is: no cable and the Wi-Fi was slow at times but it that was really no problem. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice, quiet and peaceful! Spots in the 60's and 80's are spacious and on the water. We've seen lots of wild life. Great place to go for bird watchers. Seen bald eagles, and Pelicans by the score, live right on the lake. Bring your bike! Just wish they had wifi. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Truck Camper.

Agree with other reviews; this is a very nice park. However, when it rains it can get not so nice, but acceptable. The city has done a great job with this very large park, which is city owned and operated. We arrive here with a Fantastic RV tour, so not sure what our rent rate was. If you stay here make sure you visit the oil rig museum, it will be well worth your time.Stayed here in a 34 foot motorhome, and it is worth noting that though the camp is rated for big rigs, be "very" careful if you're driving anything over 40 feet. There are some turns on narrow roads lined with big oaks that could cause you a problem. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful municipal park. It is new and modern with full service sites, marina, beach and other amenities. The sites are close together (but not unbearably close), level, and the hookups are convenient. The roads within the park are easy to navigate. The sites are along the edge of a beautiful lake. There is a very nice paved pedestrian path throughout the park. We stayed here on our way to another engagement. If we hadn’t been in a hurry we would have stayed on another day or so. A beautiful park located on the shore of Lake Palourde. Spaces were good even for our 45 foot RV and the park is a great spot for bird watching, kayaking, fishing, and walking. The rate is based on monthly rate. We would have given a rating of 9 but the WiFi did not work, and there were no plans to get it fixed any time soon. If in the area we would stop again. We camped at Lake End Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park, but over-priced for a municipal park. The "kids" who worked in the office were adequate, but more concerned with their personal dramas than customer service. The park itself is wonderful, though, with beautiful views, lovely walking trails, and lots of wildlife to watch. Check out Rouse's supermarket in town.
