9 RV Parks near Mount Hermon, Louisiana
Jun 2012 - $38.00
We had a blast. This was our first trip with the 4-wheeler. The trails were great. The bands were very good and played Friday and Saturday nights. After the bands were finished, everyone honored quiet time. We did not hear another 4-wheeler until 8 am. It was a very family oriented environment. A lot for kids to participate in for the "redneck o-limp-hicks." The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend and return. - Rhonda C.
Jan 2012 - $40.00
Went here for the weekend to ride my ATV. It is a great place to camp and ride your ATV. The trails are a nice feature and you really get to ride your ATV while camping in a quiet place. There were not many people here when we camped. There are a few permanent residents in the park; however, there is tons of room. The owners are very nice and its a great place for star gazing or just relaxing. I would not go here if not for the trails for ATV riding. Its far off the beaten path, but nice. - pizota1313
Feb 2011 - $40.00
This is a fun campground with very friendly owners. The 4-wheeler trails are great and the mud pit is great fun. We have always had a good time at this campground. - crweigel
Mar 2013 - $10.00
Calling this park a “resort” is a joke. This has been our worst park so far. According to the locals the park has flooded at least three times since Hurricane Issac, and it shows. The roads into the park are rough and filled with pot holes. In some areas the “shoulder” no longer exists. They closed the only women's restroom / showers for repairs without warning or notice to campers. Laundry facilities consist of one thoroughly filthy washer and dryer. Management leaves a lot to be desired. The maintenance man spends the day driving around in a tractor getting nothing done. Office personnel is willing to take your money; don't ask for much more. Repairs to the restroom were being done by a couple of “perms” on their own schedule. Prepare to clean your shower, IF you use the park's bathhouse. No Internet, no antenna television, cell phone worked fair. Many of the full hookup sites are no longer accessible due to the river washing away the bank. The few that remain, you have to use a hand held shovel to locate the sewer inlet, which drains slowly. Make sure you are using a surge protector on electric, as we discovered the hard way some of the plugs are wired incorrectly. Water pressure is 80 psi, which may also be a concern. The swimming pools are full of river water, debris, and wildlife; neither are usable. The few “perms” are friendly enough, and blame the state of affairs around the park on the owners in California. Their rigs and “storage” tents pretty much represent the park: “rough”. Rate shown is RPI. This park is a drive, 20 miles or more, from anything. We would have to consider all of the above before staying again. - Full-Timer RV'er
Mar 2019 - $15.00
Good news they now have WIFI back. This is a pretty park somewhat off the beaten path. There are two campgrounds. The bottomland campground is prettier with more trees and sites close to either a small pond or stream. The roads are not in great condition. This area is prone to flash flooding. It can be a long way to the bathhouse, depending on you site. The upland campground sites all have sewer as well as 50 amp and water. Sewer was sometimes a long way from camper so many people had to use two hoses. These sites are well spaced and large. There is very little shade here. There are good hiking trails, well defined and neatly kept up. There are also horse trails. There is a Dollar General about 4 miles north of the park. The town of Franklinton has a Winne Dixie, several restaurants and other stores. - winnie1
Jan 2019 - $30.00
Great park, the sites were really clean and nice. Bike riding trails were great. Awesome views too. Sadly some of the trails were closed to flooding. - Latenightcake
May 2018 - $30.00
Great park - large sites, well maintained by the friendly camp hosts. There's even a little library to borrow books and DVDs. Plenty of room for our 5th wheel. The Louisiana Dutch Oven Society meets out here each month as well! If we return to this area, we'll definitely stop here again. - Red Wolf
May 2014 - $17.00
This was a nice place but I dropped the rank because the showers on the end we stayed at had broken panels out of the door. The river was very nice. Just bring bug spray. The skeeters were huge. - Jesse Rodgers
Jul 2013 - $18.00
Bogue Chitto Park is great place to go on hot summer days. The water park is fairly large and the river is quit refreshing. They offer tubing and canoeing on the river and bring your horse if you have one, there are several miles of trails. A very spacious park. The upper ground campsite are paved with very clean bathrooms. - jeff moore
Apr 2013 - $14.00
We hesitated to stop here when the latest review was several years old, but we thought we'd take a chance when we needed an overnight stop. The rate we paid was with the senior pass so I hesitate to complain. $14 for water and electric is not bad. It is clear this campground has gone downhill since the 2007 reviews though. The sites are dirt and all run together. There are not many that can accommodate our 40' size. There were overflowing garbage cans at each site. I will say that the young man working was very pleasant and helpful and seemed distressed that he couldn't get all the garbage picked up while attending to his other duties as well. He was all alone. If we were smaller, I think we'd probably use this park again in transit. Due to our size, I doubt we will. - Gypsy Turtles
Jul 2016 - $40.00
I thoroughly enjoyed staying here! It was quiet and incredibly peaceful! I spent the day walking around the campground, fishing, and reading under the trees. We were in the camper, but they had more than just RV hookups. They had a large meeting room, a bunch of cabins with showers, and a pretty big kitchen with hang out area. Everything was nice and definitely exceeded my expectations.
Contact the manager directly. She's very easy to work with, even with last minute stays. - hsjenkins
Aug 2018 - $27.00
It was raining most of our stay but camper overseers were nice! Pool clean and nice! Went swimming early and missed rain. Quiet & restful! Wish we could have done more activities but rained out! An awesome place for horse riders! - Sandy_two2
Apr 2017 - $54.00
I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay here, we will definitely be back. Our trip was the weekend after Easter so the park was pretty quiet with not too many campers. The kids had a great time, the teenagers and adults loved it too. The park owner and all of the employees were super nice and made us feel so welcomed. The park is very clean, new in ground pool, beautiful pond and a few fun farm animals. The horse ride guides were very patient and helpful. We can't wait to go back. - kbg12379
Apr 2015 - $19.00
This is a horse ranch w/amenities. Pull thru level, hard packed site. FHU w/50A. Very peaceful, country setting. GPS took us right to it.
We stayed 2 nights and they honored both nights with PA discount.
We would stay again and ride the horses again. We were in a motor home. - D Curf
Sep 2017 - $15.00
Think of this place like you are going to camp in someones back yard that happens to have a nice bath house and multiple full hook ups and it is right on the river. We tent camped as we were meeting friends here and did not know what to expect. We know for our next trip that we will be bringing our travel trailer and won't have any problems. I can say for sure there is water and 20/30amp available at multiple sites. I did not look to see if there was a dump station or 50amp but will check next time. We were here on a holiday weekend and almost had the park to ourselves it is very quiet but a lot of fun if you enjoy hanging out on the river. - Nizzy
Oct 2018 - $28.00
Water views are beautiful. Flies are horrendous! First site had wasp - lots of them. Had to move since I'm highly allergic to them. Very dark at night. So if you have a pet that needs walking, bring a flashlight. - The Oldenburg's
Jun 2018 - $16.00
The park is well kept. The sites are asphalted with W,S & 20/30/50A E. The sites are somewhat small and close together, but Lake Tangipahoa is beautiful and a steady breeze from across the lake kept it comfortable outside through the mid 80's. We went to McComb to visit the Railroad Museum, certainly worth the free admission. I will definitely be returning to this park for another visit. We bicycled all of the roads (minor hills and reasonably flat). To sum up my review, let me say the week we spent there was very peaceful and the park is simply beautiful. - Swampy
May 2018 - $25.00
Beautiful spacious State Park in the deep hardwood and pine forests of Mississippi. Was a long drive in from the entrance station and wasn't sure what to expect. Our site was huge with asphalt drive and full hookups and from the back of the motorhome a view of sunset over the lake. There are sites right on the lake shore but some of those are shorter and require deeper turn to back in than what our 40' motorhome could do. The asphalt roads are very, very narrow and some of the turns tight but doable. Watch the road surface, there are potholes and some areas are buckled. Lake for swimming, boating and fishing as well as hiking trails and cute chapel for Sunday services. The fire area was not a pit as much as a mound. Thought I should shovel a bit out and make a dent to burn in but turns out it really was a mound of sand to have a fire on. There was a far amount of small items of trash on our site, which we picked up so don't know if it was just the last people on it or if generally not picked up. All and all one of the nicest State Parks we have been to. Two days was not long enough! - NanciRV
Nov 2009 - $30.00
It is off the beaten path, and very quiet. They lost our reservation, but luckily there was not a crowd expected. Some of the long-term residents were odd individuals that made you feel creepy, but if we stayed on our side of the campgrounds they stayed on their side. It is not an RV park, meaning the sites are not clearly established, we were allowed to par nearly anywhere we wanted and at any angles that would allow our traveling party to create a space for us to gather. The few interactions with the staff were friendly. The town of Folsum and Covington nearby were friendly small towns to occupy your time in. We really enjoyed our trip to the area. - Cap
Jun 2009 - $25.00
Overall the campground was nice. Quite a ways off of the beaten path though. You have to go down 2 miles of gravel road to get there. There are some long term tenants which gives the park a less than pristine appearance but they are in an area to themselves. The sites are grass with no paving or stone, but the soil is very sandy so there is no problem with standing water. My brother and his wife and child were going with us to the Global Wildlife Center and were charged $18.00 to enter the campground. Their website states a $6.00 charge per person per day, but I didn't expect to be charged for coming to pick me up. Had a live band on Fri night, I caught the last of it but I thought it was pretty good - arfrancois
Apr 2009 - $38.00
It is a campground but the staff was really nice, the pool was clean, it was a genuinely fun time. The bath houses were not up to standard but it is a campground and is appreciated that it did have showers. More specifically, the showers were functional and clean when we got there but after a packed weekend they did not look safe to use. Probably more of the guests fault than staff. The river was cool. The facilities were fun. The band was good. Spent Easter weekend and had a good time. If you are bringing a $500K motorhome expecting a five star resort, you will be unhappy. If you are planning on going camping in a family enviroment with a nice staff and nice people, then you may want to give this place a try. Really good people in this area. Don't quote me on the price, I don't remember exactly how much. - fatback
