Overall Rating:

One of two RV parks in the city of New Orleans, they charge a premium for the benefit of being closer to the action, especially when we were visiting during Mardi Gras. For the money, I would expect paved roads and wifi, but the roads were either quicksand mud pits when it rained or dust bowls when it dried, either way, you're not keeping your rigs clean here. And the wifi situation is simply not acceptable. Management acknowledged to me that they were well aware that it was "non-existent". Otherwise this park is very nice and exceptionally well managed and staffed with friendly, courteous, efficient people. Pool and spa on site. Nice general store. Restaurant and bar upstairs with live music. Restrooms and laundry clean and operational. Verizon signal good (as I would expect within a large metro area) so hotspot was adequate for email and internet. Sat signal good too. Cable available. Launch ramp on site for kayaks and small boats. Park is about 6 miles away from French Quarter and offered a $6 shuttle into town which was nice. Uber rides averaged about $20. This place is located adjacent to a navigation canal between Lake P and the Mississippi with a working marina next door and in the flight path of an airport servicing the local national guard so there was a bit of noise. Otherwise there is zero attractiveness in the immediate surroundings which are a mix of semi-abandoned industrial complexes on a horrible access road. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Walmart within a mile and a great grocery, Rouses, a bit further. "Dining" in this neighborhood involved a selection of fried chicken fast food.

Great location and close to French Quarter. Great staff, bus ride to French Quarter ($6.00 day), good power and utilities. Cons: When it rains and it did every day the roads are a mud hole. They attempt to grade them after each rain but it makes a muddy road. Would stay here again. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Great park to visit New Orleans. The shuttle is so convenient. The service here is top notch. Every single employee we interacted with was courteous, helpful and nice. The spaces are tight but fine. The park does have a lot of standing water if it rains and the road coming in is rough. Laundry machines need attention. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

This park is probably the best option close to NOLA. The problem is it's not great. We stayed 5 nights and it hadn't rained since we checked in, but 4 days later there was still water standing everywhere with lots of little "lakes". The entire park is gravel and gets muddy. The spaces are plenty large, just wish a small pad was paved that we didn't have to go through the mud to get in and out of the RV. Industrial area not really on Lake Pontchartrain, more like a canal leading to the lake. Uber was best option to get in and out for about $14 each way. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed at Pontchartrain Landing for two nights while visiting New Orleans. Like others have mentioned, the road to the campground is horrible - I could barely go 15 mph. However, once you get past that, the campground itself is great. Staff escorted us to our site and helped us back in. Campsites are gravel but ours was level enough that we did not have to use leveling blocks. Gravel/dirt streets within the park so dust could be an issue, but it had recently rained when we visited so it was no an issue during our stay. We were on a deluxe waterfront site so our site backed up to the marina and had a beautiful view of the sunrise. We took advantage of the $6 shuttle to/from the French Quarter and found it very convenient. We also ate at the on-site restaurant one night for dinner and found it to be very delicious. We plan to stay at this park again when we return to the area. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

We usually stay at the RV park in the French quarter but decided to give this a try. Location is on water and the best sites are water front and set up so the windshield faces the water. They have three shuttles a day, however we used Lyft ($13) for convenience. The pluses of this RV park is the nice quiet waterfront setting and the nice staff. The negatives are distance to town and the accumulation of mud when it rains. The pluses of the French Qt RV park is the location which is walking distance to town and the paved non dusty/muddy area. The negatives is the noise and the staff. The two parks are different experiences and we would stay at either one in future. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

The WWII museum is amazing! Charbroiled oysters at the Royal House and the BBQ oysters at Red Fish are both our favorites.

Nice, clean park at the southern edge of Lake Pontchartrain. Restaurant and bar on premises. Most sites are level, gravel surface and adequate size. Some back in sites on the water. Close to French Quarter and downtown New Orleans. Off the freeway about a mile so no noise. Friendly, helpful staff. Price was reasonable, but only because of Passport America membership. Without that discount, over $80 per night, which is overpriced for this facility. Would stay here again. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Truck Camper.

We did not have any problems with our GPS (Garmin 660 RV). The road going to the camp ground, France Road needs a lot of repair. Be very careful due to the holes and uneven surface. The campground is ver easy to maneuver. Our site was level and easy to pull into and exit from. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a shuttle ($6.00 per person) to the French Quarter. The departure time is a little late in the morning. The first shuttle leaves at 10:00am. It takes about 15-20 min to get int town. They should have the shuttle leave at 9:00am. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

I would suggest buying the tickets for the hop on, hop off bus. Saves the hassle of driving your tow vehicle in town. Don't miss out on the WW II museum. There are 3 buildings and it takes more than one day to see it's entirety.

Stayed a week here after a previous visit in 2016 and it is still a good safe location. However getting there can be troublesome if your GPS doesn't want to recognize France Rd. Sites are mainly level and suited our rig but roads to the sites are a little dusty and rough in places. Pool was nice however some tiles have come loose and maybe a hazard for kids plus repair work on the inside needs attention. WiFI at our site was non existent and we didn't find out till the day before we left that it worked only in and around the office or restaurant so consequently burned all our Verizon data. Not sure we would stay here again. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

We apologize for the confusion with certain GPS models. Not sure why it happens, but it does occasionally. The maintenance items you pointed out with the pool are correct and being corrected as we just came into our "slow/repair" season. We hope to see you again and thank you for your patronage.

Overall a good campground to see New Orleans that is gated and patrolled. The sites are gravel but very level and connections are located in the right place. The restrooms and showers need to be replaced or repaired as they was deplorable dirty. Shuttle that takes you to city and picks you up was nice and convenient. Watch the road coming in to the resort as it is very ROUGH! We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Sites are very close together. The roads were very dusty, as it was hot and dry during our stay. The restaurant on site was very good, we enjoyed the live music and food 3-4 nights during our weeklong stay. The pool was very clean and nice. Our Passport America rate precluded us from getting a waterfront site which would have been nicer. The campground offers a shuttle to and from the French Quarter for $8/person. That was very handy. Campground is not in the nicest neighborhood, but always felt safe there. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to the French Quarter for sure. Grocery shopping in the area is not real convenient, but you can find some stores 3-4 miles away. The World War II museum was very informative and interesting. We did a dinner cruise on the Riverboat Creole Queen. It was fun and relaxing on the Mississippi River that evening. Parking at a nearby hotel was convenient for the riverboat.

My DH and I stayed at this park over memorial weekend so it was understandably full. There's a shuttle from the park into new Orleans which we used and loved. The sites are level and hard so we had no trouble leveling. We didn't use the pool or hot tub but they looked great. The showers were also great. Our dog enjoyed the little fenced off leash dog area. The entire park is gravel so it's very dusty. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Yes, this is a gated park that closes gates only overnight. It is a campground that is patrolled 24/7 to keep all safe. It is in an area that has abandoned buildings, railroad yard, & boat yard. The manager will even tell you this upon check in. The staff is more than helpful, friendly, and courteous. The people we met while staying here were all very friendly. The sites are pull through with full hooks along with cable tv. The Wi-Fi is under construction so you only get good reception at the restaurant, pool, or office. The restaurant is on site if you do not wish to cook. My wife and I Would Stay here Again and the Campground and Area were Very Safe. They have a shuttle daily to take you downtown at 10AM and return you as well as drop you at 4PM. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.
