This is a beautiful park right on the Mississippi River. Unfortunately, upon our arrival, we learned that the city had shut down the park's sewer due to recent flooding and more potential flooding. They did offer a honey wagon, however. And we were allowed to drain gray water. We stayed for two weeks and the water was gradually creeping further into the park with each day. The river was due to crest a few days after our departure. So, in spite of the problems the park was experiencing, they were incredibly accommodating. The shady park has gorgeous views of the river and a nice paved bike path that leads down to the bridge crossing the river into Natchez. The pool area is very nice. Cable TV was pretty sketchy - had to keep rescanning for local channels. Other than that, truly a lovely park! Just be sure to check on the water levels if staying during the rainy season. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

At the time, about 1/3 of the campground was flooded, laundry washers and bath house unavailable and no septic at sites because of the Mississippi River and the CG pumping station under water. Sites were level gravel and the campground had a pumper truck available to take your black water at no cost. They told us to dump gray water into grass at our site. Lit walkway was nice...except one end was under water. Main gravel park road was busy with traffic from long term campers. Work campers were nice and helpful. Nice looking pool. No cable and wifi was unstable and pretty useless...had to go to office and sit in lounge for stable signal. Fun watching barges on the river day and night. CG is super convenient to historic Natchez just across the bridge. Would stay here again if river is tame! We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are 18 antebellum homes that can be toured. Visitor Center in Natchez has discount if you buy multiple tours. We enjoyed Rosalie, Auburn and especially Longwood homes. Cotton Alley Cafe, Roux 61 and the Donut Shop were very good. The Old South Winery was a throwback 40 years...low prices on a variety of muscadine based wines of good quality...nice people, too. You won't have place to sit and sip but buy a few bottles and enjoy.

Almost all sites are level concrete and pretty wide with grass spaces. Nice views of the river and river traffic. The speed bumps are definitely bumps. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice enough campground, with very nice office. It was almost like you are paying extra for the office. Plus is a walking path along the river, but you have to be careful of stray dogs in the park if you have pets. I felt it was a little pricey not to be a resort type place. Campsites are level but gravel and very close. Other options in notes section. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Our second night in Natchez, we stayed at the Visitor Center in Natchez. Water and electric with dump station. Just a parking lot but free and walking distance to downtown for restaurants. Also on the On and Off bus route for touring the historical sites. Very quiet. Negative was we had to use leveling blocks.

This large park is on the west side of the Mississippi River and across the river from Natchez, MS. It features wide, level sites in two large areas. Large shade trees, ample lawn area, and a comfortable riverwalk separate the sites from the river. There is a nice pool and clubhouse area adjoining the office. The opportunity to use the riverwalk and observe tugboat/barge traffics was great. The park is very well maintained (mowing, maintenance, etc.) Staff was helpful. Easy to drive across the bridge to all the sights and restaurants in Natchez. We would certainly stay here again. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

We were in the older section which has fewer sites. When I made the reservation I was asked where I wanted to be and requested a shade tree. We were on the far end of the row in site 27 and there was no shade tree anywhere near our site. The site was front row, level and long and we had a great view of the barges going up and down the Mississippi. The laundry room is nice but very, very expensive at $3.50 to wash in a triple load machine which only had the capacity of an extra large home washer or $2.50 for a double load machine which was even smaller. The machines rejected the quartesr 3 or 4 times before it accepted it so it took forever to get them started. The lady at the desk came in and stuck a paper clip in the slot to see if there was a problem but there was none. We look forward to a return visit to this park. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great dining across the river in Natchez at Roux 61 for dinner and Mama's Cupboard for a wonderful lunch with homemade desserts (no credit cards). We tried lunch at Cotton Alley Cafe after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor but the lunch was expensive and very disappointing especially the dessert- pecan pie that looked like a boxed pie with thick crust and the vanilla ice cream must have been in the freezer for months because it was all ice crystals.

Nice pool. Awesome river walk. Very clean campground. Only negative is campground allows employees to bring their family and friends to the pool. They follow their own rules like smoking, horseplay and there are young children in the hot tub. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Natchez visitor center nearby. The lower portion of the Natchez Trace has lots of low hanging branches, making it tough for larger RV. The Trace north of Tupelo was easy to drive with larger RV

This is the fourth time we have stayed at this park. Staff is great, park improvements are in progress: all sites are either very level concrete pads or grass - the park is actively installing more concrete pads (previously grass). Great views of the Mississippi River. Lots to do in Natchez (just across the river). Today is the 4th of July and we can watch the fireworks from the levy adjacent to the park. Roads are gravel, but staff sprays water to keep dust down.

Great pool area and playground for kids. No dog park, but LOTS of open space. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Easy 5 minute drive into Natchez. Had a Prime site (first row from the river). Can't see the river from campsite due to a berm, bush growth, and a few trees, so save the $5 and take the next row. Nice walkway along the river on the berm. Felt safe walking even at night. Great place to ride bikes. We took our chairs and enjoyed sitting on the walkway in the evenings and just enjoying the river. Level cement site, perfect utilities. Would for sure stay here again. We stayed here after traveling the Natchez Trace Parkway from Clinton, MS. This is a very large RV park and the facilities were excellent. There is highway construction in the area and the entry and exit from the main highway is a challenge. We would stay here again when in the area. Tips for other Campers:

Forks of the Road in Natchez is the location of the 2nd largest slave market in the US. It's just empty ground now with a few informational signs and a closed business across the street. But the power of the place is overwhelming.

I agree with previous reviewers except for us the WiFi worked OK. We were in site 15 with is full shade which we liked because the weather was starting to get warm. I personally don't think getting a site right next to the river is worth the extra money. There is a big berm which blocks the view. The only complaint is the bugs. Couldn't enjoy being outside. Would probability stay there again. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

We have been here several times in the past and know what to expect here. We are usually satisfied with the facilities and amenities except for the Wi-Fi. It is often only dependable in the office. The only major change I have noticed is that their website no longer indicates that there is cable TV. In the past it was limited and often had poor reception. As usual we used our satellite - most sites on the south end of the park are satellite friendly. The pool area and individual bathrooms are above average. I still find the laundry to be expensive. Our FHU, cement pad, level site was roomy. Typical of the area, I saw no recycling. Others have mentioned the paved walkway along the river bank north to the visiter center.
